NXT Women’s Title Triple Threat Set For Spring Breakin’

0

After the April 18 episode of NXT, next week’s Spring Breakin’ is stacked and we will get to those details shortly.

First, on this weeks episode Roxanne Perez took to the ring to challenge Zoey Stark. The two had a run in last week with Stark mocking Perez. Towards the end of the match, Perez went for the Pop Rox, but Stark was able to avoid it. Stark nailed a Dragon Suplex for a near fall. Stark went for an Irish Whip on Perez, but the former NXT Women’s Champion went over Stark and hit the Pop Rox for the pinfall win.

After the match, the NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell made her way to the ring. She wanted to make it official and offer Perez the next shot at the championship next week. Before they could shake on it, Tiffany Stratton’s music hit. She couldn’t seem to understand how she was passed over for another title opportunity. She claims Perez is easily beatable but Perez reminded her that she was victorious against Stratton in the break out tournament.

Hartwell agreed to defend against both women as she remains a fighting champion.

Next we had a match between Gigi Dolin and a returning Cora Jade. This was Jade’s first match back on TV since January. The final moments had Dolin on the offense but Jacy Jayne appeared for a distraction. Dolin took Jayne out over the announce table but Jayne’s appearance would take Dolin away from Jade. Jade caught Dolin back in the ring with a knee strike and hit the Death Rider for the victory.

Post match, as Jade was still in the ring, Lyra Valkyria appeared and the two finally will have their match next week.

A third match for Spring Breakin’ has been confirmed and it will be a mixed tag team bout. Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs will take on Kiana James and Brooks Jensen. Jensen with a new look is tired of Briggs and Henley holding him back.

NXT Discussion Post: 04.18.23

Tonight’s NXT has two women’s matches that should be worth seeing.

First from last week, a match was made after a confrontation between Zoey Stark and Roxanne Perez. Second, Cora Jade will return to the ring on TV for the first time since January’s Battle Royal. She will be facing Gigi Dolin – one woman that Jade has called out among many.

As always, feel free to discuss tonight’s show tonight.

Spoilers: IMPACT Rebellion Fall Out From April 17

On Monday, IMPACT had their next set of tapings which included the fallout from the Rebellion event over the weekend.

At Rebellion we witnessed The Coven retaining the tag titles over the Death Dollz while a new Knockouts World Champion was crowned. Deonna Purazzo defeated Jordynne Grace to become champion after Mickie James had to relinquish the belt due to not being cleared medically.

The results from the tapings are (via Cagematch)-

  • Alisha Edwards def. Tara Rising
  • Jody Threat confronts Alisha post match
  • Jordynne Grace def. Masha Slamovich
  • Jody Threat def. Seleziya Sparx
  • – Knockouts Championship: Deonna Purrazzo def. Taylor Wilde
  • – KiLynn King attacks Deonna after the match. Jordynne Grace makes the save.

Trish Stratus Is “Nobody’s Sidekick”; Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville Pick Up Win

Trish Stratus was the hottest news coming out of the April 17 episode of Raw as her heel turn is now in full effect.

Stratus started the promo by reminding fans that it was her and her alone that started the women’s revolution. Before she came in the door many years ago there was no women’s division and she made it. She corrected any thought that Lita would be included in that and admitted to be the one that took Lita out last week.

Stratus would then direct her message to Becky Lynch. She says she wanted to make sure that she was the one who made Lynch lose the tag titles. And she did just that. She was set out to prove that she is no one’s sidekick when it came to Lita and Lynch.

She ended the promo with, “I am the greatest of all time. I am the single most important figure in the history of WWE, and I’m here to make sure none of you forget it.” She dropped the mic to end the segment.

There were two women’s matches this week as the first was the Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair taking on Dakota Kai. Ringside was Bayley and the number one contender IYO SKY.

Although taking Belair to her limits, Kai wasn’t able to get the victory as Belair landed the KOD to win the match. In a WWE digital exclusive, Bayley attempted to clear the air on anyone continuing to say there are issues within Damage CTRL before Kai cut her off.

Kai says she appreciates Bayley always hyping her up but she did fail against Belair. She then directed it to SKY to be the one to take the title off of her. SKY says she sees Bianca’s weakness and will beat her.

The second women’s match was the shorter of the two but it was Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville taking on Michin and Candice LeRae. The tag champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez sat at ringside. Green and Deville will be getting a title opportunity this Friday and needed a win to gain momentum. And a win they got after Green landed the Unprettier on Michin.

Nikki Cross was in the crowd, still stalking Candice.

Post-match, Green and Deville threw water in the face of the champs. On Raw Talk, Morgan gave a huge message that water is not going to make them mad as she poured more water on herself. She says to “watch us” if Green and Deville think they are taking the tag titles.

Maxxine Dupri was on as well still fighting with Chad Gable over Otis.

Raw Discussion Post: 04.17.23

Tonight’s Raw has Trish Stratus ready to explain her actions against Becky Lynch last week. Lynch herself has said she won’t be at the show tonight.

Last week IYO SKY become the number one contender for the Raw Women’s Title. Hopefully we hear more on when she will face Bianca Belair and what Belair’s response will be.

As always, feel free to discuss tonight’s show below.

Cora Jade vs. Gigi Dolin Set For April 18 NXT

0

A second women’s match is confirmed for the April 18 episode of NXT.

Cora Jade will return to the ring as she takes on Gigi Dolin. She had a lot to say about the women’s locker room last week and now she needs to back it up in the ring.

The other women’s match that is scheduled so far is between Roxanne Perez and Zoey Stark.

Per NXT Twitter –

Becky Lynch Says She Won’t Be On April 17 Raw *Update*

0

Becky Lynch put out a statement that was short and to the point on her Twitter account. It also appears she has changed her name on Twitter to her real name of Rebecca Quin.

“I won’t be coming to Raw today.”

Last week, Lynch and Trish Stratus (who was replacing Lita in the match) lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Post match, Stratus turned on Lynch and attacked her from behind before delivering the Chick Kick. Stratus is set for tonight’s Raw to explain her actions.

No news has officially been provided by WWE themselves on why Lynch changed her name on her social media or proclaimed she won’t be at Raw tonight.

*Update*

However, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful posted some information on Fightful Select.

Sapp states that it is legitimate that Lynch won’t be at Raw on tonight’s episode. WWE sources state to their knowledge there have been no issues between Lynch and WWE. She has a minor foot injury that has been exacerbated lately.

As for her current contract she is signed up until June 2024.

Deonna Purrazzo Wins Third Knockouts Title In IMPACT Rebellion Main Event

IMPACT Rebellion 2023 featured the crowning of a new world champion in the main event.

First, on the Countdown pre-show, The Death Dollz had their obligated Knockouts World Tag Team Championship rematch against The Coven. Death Dollz dictated the pace at first, but it wasn’t long until Rosemary was double teamed for several minutes. Jessicka made the hot tag and worked King briefly. Rosemary was close to winning, but Wilde snuck in a tag and pinned Rosemary to secure the victory.

Alisha Edwards attempted to help Eddie Edwards win his Last Rites match against PCO, but she ended up getting super kicked in the face by accident.

In the Hardcore War, Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich both had their opportunities to shine. Kelly entered with a staple gun and took out several guys before stapling her own head. Slamovich entered after her and eventually flipped out of the ring with a trash can lid in hand.

Bully Ray held Kelly hostage at one point, but she bit his arm to break free. Kelly applied her Killer Clutch on Kenny King before Slamovich nailed her with Snow Plow. Dreamer hit Slamovich with a piledriver and eventually pinned Bully to win it for his team.

In the main event, Jordynne Grace and Deonna Purrazzo met in their first singles match since 2020 to crown a new Knockouts World Champion in the wake of Mickie James‘ rib injury. Grace leaned into her heel side throughout despite starting it off with a mutual handshake.

Regardless, Grace’s strength was displayed bell to bell, but Purrazzo countered with her technical prowess. A moonsault off the apron from The Virtuosa marked a change in control. Purrazzo focused on her submission game from there on and went on to land a quick Queen’s Gambit for the three-count.

Purrazzo embraced Grace after the match before celebrating with her third Knockouts title to send us home.

Nia Jax Says Sasha Banks Was Originally Planned As 2018 Survivor Series Winner

Nia Jax, real name Lina Fanene, was the Sole Survivor in the 2018 Survivor Series women’s match. Her victory won the match for her team which included: Sasha Banks, Tamina, Mickie James, and Bayley. But was she the original planned Sole Survivor? According go Fanene, it was supposed to be Sasha Banks.

Fanene sat down recently with DS Shin from Ring the Belle to go over the fans five favorite moments from her career. One of the moments was when she was sole survivor at Survivor Series which is when she spoke more on the match.

Fanene talked about a lot of other topics including fans saying she was unsafe in the ring, her hole, participating in two Rumbles in the same night, and her return in the 2023 Royal Rumble.

DD Power 15: Apr. 09 to Apr. 15

0

Welcome to this week’s Power 15 Rankings curated by us here at Diva-Dirt. This week we are reviewing women’s action across several companies.

As well as the 15 women featured, two wildcards will be featured each week chosen by Nick and Gary. These wildcards are for women who didn’t quite make the ranking but are ones to watch for the week ahead. Without further ado, let’s get in to it.

Please Note: This list is subjective to us at Diva Dirt. We encourage our readers for respectful and enjoyable conversations.

Gary’s Wildcard – Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez

If you are not tuning in to NXT LVL Up each week, you are missing out! The secondary show for NXT with such a large roster is an excellent opportunity to keep building up their newer stars or, as was the case this week, potential new tag teams.

Fans have been pitching Vice and Lopez together for some time and they have been seen previously together backstage so seeing them in tag action was a great preview. While they did not win, losing to the longest reigning tag team champions is nothing to be ashamed of.

Nick’s Wildcard – Lyra Valkyria

Before making her surprise return to NXT last week, Cora Jade was scheduled to face Lyra Valkyria some time ago before her brief hiatus. The NXT fans did not forget and it turns out, neither did Valkyria.

Valkyria has been a consistently impressive talent since her NXT UK days and after an impressive showing in the Women’s Ladder Match at Stand & Deliver, entering in to a program with Jade is an excellent way to keep both girls’ momentum going.

WWE talent were featured on this show back during its first run under the WWF banner. At that time we saw talent on there such as Lita, Trish Stratus, and Stephanie McMahon.

Dates for these shows have not been confirmed. Check your local listings.

Trish Stratus Set To Explain Her Betrayal Of Becky Lynch

0

Trish Stratus will be on this upcoming Monday’s Raw to explain her actions against Becky Lynch last week. Stratus turned heel after taking the place of Lita in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Match and being pinned by Liv Morgan.

Post-match, Stratus attacked Lynch from behind and laid her out with a Chick Kick.

Per WWE.com

Last week on Monday Night Raw, shockwaves reverberated throughout the WWE Universe as Trish Stratus suddenly assaulted Becky Lynch.

Trish Stratus was filling in for Lita after Lita was mysteriously attacked backstage prior to teaming with Lynch and defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

After Lynch and Trish Stratus lost, the WWE Hall of Famer blindsided The Man, leaving the WWE Universe aghast.

On Raw, the WWE Universe will be waiting with bated breath as Trish Stratus will reveal the reasons behind her actions.

After a confrontation on the April 14 episode of SmackDown, we are getting a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match next week.

The new champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez took to the ring to celebrate their victory. The celebration quickly turned once they were interrupted by Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green.

Deville presented the question of how is Morgan and Rodriguez champions anyway when they defeated Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus and not Lynch and Lita. After complaining that they aren’t getting title opportunities, Morgan presented them with one for next week.

Rodriguez and Morgan attack Green and Deville having the new challengers retreating up the ring.

New Knockouts World Champion To Be Crowned At IMPACT Rebellion

This week’s IMPACT Wrestling served as the go-home show to Rebellion.

In a preview of their Rebellion rematch, Taylor Wilde went one-on-one with Jessicka. Wilde seemed to control the pacing for a majority of the bout, although Jessicka had her dominating moments. At the end, KiLynn King provided the distraction from the apron, which allowed Wilde to score the win.

Tasha Steelz returned to the ring for the first time since January when she took on Gisele Shaw. It was also their first singles match together, and Shaw did not hold back. This bout received plenty of time, as well as aggressive offense from “The Quintessential Diva.”

Steelz had her moments, but it was when she dodged a running knee from Shaw into the steps on the outside that helped the most. Steelz was able to dropkick the injured knee and cover Shaw for the win.

To close out the show, Mickie James appeared in the empty arena to officially announce that she is not cleared to compete this Sunday. As a result, she is vacating her Knockouts World Championship and Jordynne Grace will face Deonna Purrazzo to crown a new champion at Rebellion.

Below is the updated lineup for Sunday’s Rebellion pay-per-view:

  • Knockouts World Championship: Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo
  • Knockouts World Tag Team Championship (Countdown Match): The Coven (c) vs. Death Dollz
  • Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich will compete in Hardcore War

WWE Changes King And Queen of the Ring Event To Night of Champions

0

There’s been a name change to the late may premium live event. We have Backlash to get to first, but originally scheduled for May 27 was King and Queen of the Ring. The event is set to take place in Saudi Arabia but now it will be named Night of Champions.

The last time WWE held a Night of Champions event was in 2015 where Charlotte Flair ended the longest reigning Divas Champion reign of Nikki Bella. After 2015, WWE used the name Clash of Champions which ran for four events, the last one being in 2020.

There is no word yet on if the King and Queen of the ring tournaments will still take place. Whether it is used to up to the event or if it is postponed for later in the year.

Diva Dirt will provide any further updates for this change.

Carmella Debunks Rumor That She’s Leaving WWE

0

Carmella shut down the internet rumor that she is leaving WWE.

As always, the internet that we have all grown to love and hate had stirred up a rumor that Carmella was leaving WWE in order to become a mother. This rumor started after certain “fans” twisted the words of the Princess of Staten Island.

In a recent Instagram Live, Carmella was asked if she would still like to become a mother and start a family. She would gleefully respond that she would love to become a mother Carmella stated she loves spending time with her three step children.

Somehow saying that was twisted into her leaving WWE according to those online. She cleared up and debunked this after a Twitter user expressed their own concern.

WWE has come a long way with its female talent who have given birth and still remained WWE Superstars. Becky Lynch, Lacey Evans, Candice LeRae, and Ronda Rousey are some names who recently had children and returned to the ring.

Carmella returned earlier this year from some time off and was placed in a tag team with Chelsea Green. Since then, Carmella hasn’t been on screen minus an appearance for WrestleMania as she and her husband Corey Graves revealed the set. Green has now been teaming with Sonya Deville.

Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter vs. The Outcasts Set For April 19 AEW Dynamite

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a tag team bout as Riho and Skye Blue teamed up to take on Ruby Soho and Toni Storm of The Outcasts.

The Outcasts had the advantage right off the bat as they ambushed their opponents as the bell rang. After the break, the action broke down as everyone executed their offense. Riho crucifix-bombed onto Soho with a superkick assist from Blue. However, Storm came right back with a hip attack and Storm Zero on Blue for the win.

After, The Outcasts triple power-bombed Riho before Jamie Hayter attempted to make the save. Britt Baker then joined the fray and proved to be the equalizer, taking out Ruby and Toni on the outside before mixing it up with Saraya in the ring. The Outcasts were able to save Saraya before taking Baker could hit the stomp.

As a result, next week’s Dynamite will feature Baker and Hayter teaming up in Pittsburgh to take on Storm and Soho.

Looking ahead to Friday’s Rampage, it has been confirmed that Taya Valkyrie will be in action as she takes on Emi Sakura.

Cora Jade Calls Out NXT Women’s Roster, Match Set For April 18

0

Cora Jade returned last week and attacked the new NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell. This week, Jade took to the ring to air out her grievances and call out many members of the NXT women’s locker room.

One of the women that Jade mentioned was Lyra Valkyria who came out to confront her. This led to a fight between the two and a match scheduled for next week.

In the matches we saw this week, the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn retained their gold over the former champs Kiana James and Fallon Henley. Prior to the match, James tried to get Henley and herself on the same page.

Brooks Jensen wasn’t joining them at ringside because he was mad at both Henley and Josh Briggs. But instead, Jensen did come down to the ring and tried to help the women win by handing Henley the bag that belongs to James. Henley continued to refuse to use it to cheat which ended up being her downfall. Dawn and Fyre took advantage of the distraction and hit a Back Stabber into a swanton bomb on Henley for the pinfall win. Post match, Jensen shoved his tag team partner to the ground.

Next we had Sol Ruca taking on Tiffany Stratton. The match was faced paced and well done between both athletes. Stratton would end up with the win after executing the BME.

A vignette was shown for Gigi Dolin.

Zoey Stark ran into Roxanne Perez backstage while she was speaking to Tony D’Angelo and Stacks. Stark mocked Perez due to her anxiety issue and the two agreed to a match next week.

Check back in with Diva Dirt for more news and results from the women of NXT.
