Brandi Rhodes talks more about the Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament

It was announced last week that there will be a Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament coming up for AEW. According to the preview we received it will be a total of eight teams with 16-women. From the preview, it did not show us any teams besides perhaps the Nightmare Sisters – Allie & Brandi Rhodes. According to Rhodes however, there is no guarantee that they will even be teamed up.

There is an underlying statement for this tournament and that is “The Deadly Draw.” Rhodes recently spoke with CHRISTYreports and provided a little bit more information about what will take place.

“Wednesday that’s all going to be crystal clear,” Rhodes explained. “We’re going to explain how the teams come together and then you might see a team or two come together. So it’s going to be a fun episode, definitely wouldn’t miss that if you are interested in the tag team cup tournament. So we’ll leave you in a little bit of suspense.”

Credit: AEW

In providing the suspense as mentioned earlier, Rhodes says she will definitely be in the tournament but may not be with Allie after all. They have been tagging together recently and defeated MJ Jenkins and Kenzie Paige at Fight for the Fallen.

“There is the factor that [the Nightmare Sisters] could maybe not be together in the tournament since that hasn’t been clear,” Rhodes said.

“So we will also see on Wednesday with the rules what that means for the Nightmare Sisters. I’m honestly hoping that we are together because again, I feel like we’ve just gotten our footing so it would be kind of sad to tear us apart at this point.”

Rhodes also commented on if she thinks that this will be a yearly occurrence. Just as with anything they will have to test the waters and see how it goes over and how it is received.

“I think that’s how you look at a lot of things. You try things, you see how they go. I, of course, am very hopeful that this tournament is something that can continue to happen as it’s going to bring great opportunities to a lot of women who don’t normally get to be seen on Dynamite or on AEW Dark as often as we’d like to.”

Check back with Diva Dirt for more news on the tournament as the teams form and dates are announced.

Update on Charlotte Flair’s status post-surgery

Charlotte Flair has been out of action since last month when she was taken out by Nia Jax in a storyline. This was to write her off of television so she could have surgery in order to fix a previous health issue. She spoke about this herself on her Twitter to address the concerns.

Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT confirmed that Flair had her surgery on July 25 and is being told that it went “great.”

Original plans weren’t sure on a time table for her return and many questioned on if she would be returning in time for SummerSlam. When Flair spoke about this herself she said she has chosen a recovery time that would be longer this go around. talkSPORT is saying that there is no way that Flair will be returning for the SummerSlam event.

There have also been reports of Flair to crossover into other ventures such as TV roles.

“Several agents have said they’d be shocked if she wasn’t the next WWE talent to cross over, but who knows. She legit loves wrestling.”

Her break from being in the ring is said to be well into the later part of the year, perhaps even until the Royal Rumble in January 2021.

Winners & Losers: RAW 07.27.20

A brawl between two powerhouses, a new champion, and a send-off for Kairi Sane is what we all witnessed on this week’s RAW. Nia Jax returned as rumored and she came back with a purpose. She is determined to become RAW Women’s Champion.

Jax discusses how her last championship attempt was ruined by the referee and that she would later put Charlotte Flair out of action. No one has seen Flair since, Jax boasted. She referenced that later on in the night that Asuka and Sasha Banks were squaring off for the RAW Women’s Championship but as she was about to declare she wants to be next, Shayna Baszler‘s music hits and she makes her way to the ring.

Baszler says very few words and lets Jax know that no one gives a damn what she wants. Jax would then give a smirk as she takes down Baszler with a right and throws her across the ring. The two would brawl which led up to a match set up between the two later in the night.

Their match later on in the night didn’t last very long as they continued their brawl from earlier in the night. The two took the action to the outside and as the two continued to beat on each other, the referee counted to 10 causing a double count-out. The two end up with security trying to break them up, but instead, they just end up beating up the security.

The second match of the night was the advertised match between Asuka and Sasha Banks to determine who truly is the RAW Women’s Champion. You can read the match review by clicking here. Banks won the match to become the RAW Women’s Champion by count-out. Stephanie McMahon had previously announced that the winner of the title could win by such.

Asuka rushed out of the ring at the end of the match to save her best friend and tag team partner Kairi Sane from a vicious attack by Bayley backstage. This was also noted as an exit for Sane from WWE. She won her last match on last week’s RAW against Bayley. Sane’s response to her short but memorable time with the company can be read here.

We also saw a glimpse of Ruby Riott and Bianca Belair backstage as they were talking to Mark Henry, nothing was developed from this.

Let’s get to the Winners & Losers of the week:

WINNER: Sasha Banks

Sasha is the clear winner as she is officially the RAW Women’s Champion and is now a five-time champion. This propels her past Charlotte by breaking the tie of four reigns between them. She still has a long way to go as far as a number of days as all her prior reigns have been short, but we will see if she holds onto the title for the long-run this time. She also has become a double champion along with Bayley, so whether you like it or not, they run the main roster titles right now.

WINNERS: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax

Despite how the majority feel about these two ladies, this is a feud I can get behind. I have a feeling it will just be a one off to try and get to the RAW Women’s Title, but I like how these two size up appropriately. Nia should be put against someone like Shayna or even Charlotte. It makes it more believable and less cringy. Same goes for Shayna. Although they really didn’t have a match persay, I enjoyed the set up.

WINNER: Kairi Sane

Because I said so. I will miss her so much. She always is a team player and humble 100%. I rather her have gone out last week with just the win over Bayley, but this was okay also. It was much better than just Nia or Shayna causing her to tap out in my opinion.

LOSER: Asuka

Not sure if this will put her in the back of the line or not for a title, but it may just be that way. It all depends on where they are going with Nia and Shayna. I am not opposed to Sasha having the RAW title as it has been years since she won a singles belt, but I was kind of hoping that Asuka would retain and Nikki Cross would win the SmackDown Women’s Titles so Sasha and Bayley could just focus on the tag division.

What were your thoughts on this week’s RAW? Who were your Winners & Losers? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

Kairi Sane provides a goodbye message as she exits WWE

It has been rumored for months that Kairi Sane was on her way out of WWE. It has been said that she wants to return to Japan to be with her new husband. There have been rumblings that she may continue to wrestle in Japan.

Sane won her last match with the company with a victory over Bayley last week on RAW. This week she was seen being attacked backstage by Bayley while Asuka was attempting to win the RAW Women’s Championship in a match against Sasha Banks. Asuka came rushing to the aide of her best friend causing her to be counted out.

After the match/segment aired, Sane took to her Twitter to say some kind words about her time with the company.

Sane accomplished a lot in her three years with the company. She is the inaugural winner of the Mae Young Classic Tournament as she defeated Shayna Baszler in the finals. She held both the NXT Women’s Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Titles as one-half of The Kabuki Warriors with Asuka. Sane also participated in all three of the women’s Royal Rumble matches.

Diva Dirt sends their best wishes for the future of Kairi Sane and we have thoroughly enjoyed seeing her in WWE. She has always been humble and we love a humble Queen. We look forward to seeing her in the future.

Sasha Banks officially becomes a double champion as she wins the RAW Women’s Title

The controversial ending to the RAW Women’s Championship match from Extreme Rules is now a matter of the past as Sasha Banks is now officially champion.

With Bayley unofficially counting to three with the referee’s shirt on, Stephanie McMahon stated there wasn’t a conclusive winner at Extreme Rules. Banks didn’t win and neither did Asuka. So on tonight’s RAW, Banks and Asuka squared off to see who is rightfully the RAW Women’s Champion.

In order to make sure there was a clear winner this time around, McMahon made the official stipulation that the title will change hands via pinfall, submission, count-out, disqualification, or if anyone interferes in the match *ahem Bayley*.

Both Bayley and Kairi Sane accompanied their tag team partners to the ring, but as the match gets ready to start, Sane chased Bayley up the ramp and to the backstage area.

Moments into the match at things tended to heat up, Banks has Asuka with a single-legged crab on her damaged left leg. After Banks provides separation she stomps on the leg and tries to tie up her opponent but kicks her out of the ring. Banks is now at ringside and demanding her titles. The referee starts to count her out. As Banks realizes she could lose the match that way, she throws the tag title into the ring as a distraction for the official.

As he goes to grab that title, she goes to hit Asuka with the RAW Women’s Title. The referee turns around just in time and Banks throws the title to Asuka and pretends that Asuka hit her with it to try and get her disqualified. The ref doesn’t buy it. Asuka then delivers a swift kick to the back of the head.

Banks gains control again and after a modified DDT she focuses on Asuka’s leg again. She wraps Asuka’s leg around the bottom rope with more shots to the leg. Asuka fights back and attempts to get a hip attack in on the apron but Banks avoids it. The two go back and forth. Banks with a single-leg crab again and Asuka later with an ankle lock.

Moments later, Banks hits a frog splash but Asuka is still able to kick out. Banks transitions into the Bank Statement. Asuka breaks away and goes for an Asuka Lock but is sent over the top rope to the floor. Banks slams Asuka’s leg knee-first into the announce table. Banks returns to the ring as Asuka is down on the floor grasping her leg! Asuka crawls and makes it back in the ring right before the 10 count, in the nick of time. Banks is livid as she argues with the referee and gets in Asuka’s face.

We then see Bayley brawling backstage with Sane on the screen. This fight backstage is distracting to Asuka as she tries to stay focused. Bayley dominates Sane. Asuka is far too distracted about her best friend and tag team partner being decimated by Bayley.

Bayley continued to taunt Sane as she slams her into a garage door and stomps on her. Sane screams out for help. Asuka struggles to decide whether or not to put Banks away or save Sane. Asuka finally decides to go save Sane and rushes to the back causing a count-out. Banks wins the RAW Women’s Championship officially.

The Golden Role Models officially hold all the championship gold on the main roster.

RAW Discussion Post: 07.27.20

On tonight’s RAW, we will find out who truly is the RAW Women’s Championship since the controversial ending that took place at Extreme Rules. Asuka and Sasha Banks will face off as required by Stephanie McMahon who made this announcement. The title can change hands by pinfall, submission, count-out, disqualification, or if anybody interferes.

Last week we witnessed Ruby Riott finally getting her first singles win since her return from injury earlier this year. She defeated Peyton Royce in a one-on-one match. Where does this take her from here?

There is also a rumor of Nia Jax returning tonight. She was last seen on the June 22 RAW where she took out Charlotte Flair backstage.

Feel free to discuss tonight’s show in the comment section below!

Nia Jax reportedly set to return to RAW tonight

The Irresistible Force, Nia Jax, is being reported by PWInsider as returning to RAW on tonight’s show. The last time we saw Jax was over a month ago when she lost her championship match against Asuka. She returned after being out due to injury for a year and returned after WrestleMania.

Since her return before her recent absence, Jax feuded with Asuka for the RAW Women’s Title at the Backlash pay-per-view. We also last saw her taking out Charlotte Flair in a backstage segment.

Credit: WWE

Speaking of Asuka, she will be in action tonight in order to declare a clear winner between her and Sasha Banks from Extreme Rules.

From that controversial end to that title match, we will find out tonight who will continue on as RAW Women’s Champion between Asuka and Banks. This match has a stipulation to it that the title can change hands by pinfall, submission, count-out, disqualification or if anybody interferes. Could Jax be the one to interfere if she is in fact returning?

There has been no confirmation from WWE at this time that Jax will be on the show tonight.

What are your thoughts? Leave them in the comment section below.

Three top championship wins from Sasha Banks

Just yesterday marked four years since Sasha Banks Banks won the Women’s Championship (shortly thereafter named the RAW Women’s Championship) from Charlotte Flair. This also made her the second woman to ever hold this title in history as it was introduced that same year. This faded out the Divas Championship and was awarded to Charlotte Flair from her victory in the Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 32 which also involved Banks and Becky Lynch.

Banks winning this match started a back and forth between her and Flair with the title constantly changing hands. Depending on who you speak to, this was seen as either a good thing or a bad thing. On the negative side, Banks would never hold the title past her first defense or for more than 30-days. On the positive side, it showed that this title was heavily valued and that both of these women would fight forever to hold it.

Although this win would be a big one for Banks and a joy to many fans, she has had some memorable other victories as well surrounding title wins. Let’s highlight a few.

Elimination Chamber – 2019 – Women’s Tag Team Championship

Sasha Banks made history at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in 2019 when she and Bayley became the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions. This was big moment not just for Banks but for the women’s division as the new titles were highly anticipated. What came of the title reign was criticized but very few people can deny that this win was a big one for Banks.

In the match that lasted over 30-minutes, Banks & Bayley started and ended the match with Fire & Desire and outlasted the other four teams involved. She was used in the decision as well with her submission on Sonya Deville.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte (c) – NXT Women’s Championship – TakeOver Rival – 2015

Although this title win wasn’t on the main roster and prior to her holding the RAW Women’s Championship, it is one to certainly remember. A Fatal 4-way between the Four Horsewomen was a pleasure to see at the time. Charlotte was the champion heading into the match and despite there being two other women in this match, Banks made sure to pin the champion.

The fall of the match came with the Bank Statement locked in but Banks flipped it into a crucifix pin. She held the title for 191-days and during that time she had a memorable feud with Bayley which is still talked about to this day.

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair (c) – Falls Count Anywhere -RAW Women’s Championship – RAW 11.28.16

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLJDRUB6bM4

As mentioned earlier, yesterday was four years since Banks won the RAW Women’s Title the very first time. Since then she won it three other times, but the last time she defeated Charlotte was one to certainly revisit. After a double count out earlier in the night, this match was put in the main event and had the falls count anywhere stipulation.

The action spilled out through the arena with Charlotte executing a moonsault off the announce table to Banks on the floor below. The action spilled out into the crowd and Banks was able to lock in her Bank Statement on The Queen between the railing on the arena stairs. Banks would win back the title that night for the third and last time of their feud. She dropped the title back to Charlotte a few weeks later in a 30-minute iron match.

Which championship win of Sasha’s was your favorite? Let us know in the comment section below.

Four must-see Carmella matches to celebrate her four years on the main roster

As of today, Carmella debuted on the main roster four years ago on SmackDown Live. She quickly became one of what would later be known as the SmackDown Six along with Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Natalya, and Becky Lynch. This was as a result of the 2016 WWE Draft where she was the last picked to be drafter from NXT to SmackDown Live.

In the four years on the main roster, Carmella has had many accomplishments. These include becoming the very first woman to win a Money in the Bank ladder match and she has also held the SmackDown Women’s Championship. This title win came from her successful cash-in on Charlotte Flair.

In celebration of Carmella’s four years on the main roster, let’s take a stroll down memory lane on four matches that are one’s to rewatch.

Carmella vs. Nikki Bella – No DQ match TLC 2016

Shortly after her debut on the main roster, Carmella was brought right into a storyline with Nikki Bella. This was a great way to get eyes on Carmella to those who didn’t watch her time in NXT. This feud allowed the Princess of Staten Island to still look strong even though she was defeated.

Adding the stipulation of the no disqualification added an element to the match as well that four years ago still wasn’t used all that much. The only downside to this match was that it should have lasted longer.

Carmella vs. Bayley

SmackDown Women’s Championship- SmackDown 2.14.20

A more recent match, but the last prominent match that we have seen from Carmella. Earlier this year, she was put back into the title picture after not being a contender for quite some time. A feud that many people were waiting on based on the fact that she and Bayley have such great chemistry together.

Carmella surprisingly won a Fatal 4-way that led to this match that many thought was going to go to the returning Naomi. As a result of this, we quickly were treated to a great match between the two real-life friends. Carmella wasn’t able to win the title for the second time in her career and the feud was quickly dropped, but the match left us wanting more.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match – SmackDown 6.27.17

There was two Money in the Bank ladder matches in 2017 as the women finally took part in this style of match. The first match took place at the event named from the match but ended in much controversy.

The end result saw James Ellsworth climb the ladder and drop the briefcase to Carmella which signified her winning the match. As a result, a second match was made on the following SmackDown. This one would prove to be arguably better.

Carmella would defeat her other four competitors in this rematch by climbing the ladder herself this time to unhook the briefcase.

This propelled her into the most successful part of her career thus far as she held the briefcase for 287-days she was able to successfully cash in on Charlotte Flair with a little help from The IIconics. She would go on to defeat Flair again before entering a feud with Asuka and retaining successfully against her as well.

Carmella (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley –

SmackDown Women’s Championship – SummerSlam 2018

From her winning Money in the Bank to her winning the SmackDown Women’s Title, the end of Carmella’s wins came at SummerSlam. A moment that ended up ushering in the rise of Becky Lynch was still a great match put on by Carmella.

This triple threat showed that Mella could hang with two huge names of the business and may possibly be the best she has looked in a match. The work between the three led to many near falls that had the crowd thinking that any one of them could walk out with the victory.

What are some of your favorite Carmella matches? Would you like to see her back into the title picture? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

Vickie Guerrero on reinventing herself and when she wanted to return to wrestling

Vickie Guerrero has recently returned to wrestling as she is now the manager of former AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose. This partnership formed at Fight for the Fallen just a couple of weeks ago. Guerrero had previously made appearances in the audience for AEW events and she spoke on her show, Excuse Me: The Vickie Guerrero Show, about the moment where she wanted to get back into the business.

Credit: AEW

“I think it was me being on [Chris Jericho’s cruise]. You’re surrounded by all the wrestling fans and you see the shows every night,” Vickie explained.

“Me being from where I’ve been with WWE, your brain starts ticking and you start getting ideas. And interviewing the women, most of them were babies at the time except for Penelope. We had ref Aubrey on the panel, Allie and they all sort of had their own storyline going.”

Through her interviews, Rose stood out to her and she started brainstorming on how she would love to work with her. Guerrero spent many years in WWE as both a General Manager and a manager for many talents.

“But I looked at Nyla during the podcast and I thought, man, she would be so much fun to manage. Despite mentioning it, and of course, she loved the idea. And of course, we teased the crowd from the cruise. We had good feedback, but of course, it had to go back to AEW and people had to discuss this. But that was my dream; I said, ‘Well God, if this is going to happen then it’s meant to be, and if not, then it’s okay’.”

“Now, my dream has come true. Nyla and I have some really cool ideas and stuff that we want to plan out for our storylines. There are a lot of women in AEW that we are going to be able to target and that will be the fun part of it.”

Her official debut at Fight for the Fallen already started off in a different manner over her time with WWE. One big change is she has entrance music, which she never had previously. Her ‘Excuse Me’ catchphrase seems to be staying, but she has a different presence about her. She does state that she wants to present a different gimmick and is focused on reinventing herself this time around.

Credit: WWE

“I don’t want to be the same character that was at WWE coming into AEW. It’s time for me to reinvent myself. I have a new roster and a, as they say, a new playground that’s gonna excite me to interact with the different people on the roster. I think that’s going to have me enjoy this a lot more. I forgot how exciting [it is], and the love I have for inside the ring… It has been a fun ride. I can’t wait for the next time I’m out there.”

Winners & Losers: SmackDown 07.24.20

As a fall out from Extreme Rules, Nikki Cross was still heated from her loss at that event where she wasn’t able to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion. She brought this anger with her to this week’s show. As the show began, Sasha Banks and Bayley made their way to the ring.

Once in the ring they defined what the word Greatness means. Of course it means Sasha Banks and Bayley, but more specifically “the quality or state of being great.”

They then share that the Women’s Evolution era is over and the era of Banks and Bayley is now. Cross would come out and share her grievance of that proclamation. She states that she went into Extreme Rules to grab a title and all she came out of it with is some broken ribs. Bayley tells Cross that she can get a title match against her next week if she were to defeat her best friend Alexa Bliss.

Cross had been nursing her injured ribs throughout the match and Bliss knew that she could focus on that weakness. After a crossbody from Cross landed with nobody home, she played a bit of possum as she quickly would roll up Bliss into a cradle and get the pin for the win. Nikki will get yet another shot against Bayley next week.

After the match, Bliss and Cross at what was at first an awkward conversation backstage. Bliss admitted that Cross deserved this win and got one over on her. The two would hug and then focus on the fact that Cross needs to beat Bayley next week.

The other women of the night revolved around Naomi and Lacey Evans. It was advertised that Naomi would be the guest on Miz TV this week and she would address her recent loss to Evans and her fans causing her to trend on Twitter with the hashtag – #NaomiDeservesBetter. Of course Miz and John Morrison did more mocking of Naomi over being supporting her.

Naomi comments that there has to be a reason why her fans have her back through everything. Through all the bad and the good. The Miz mentions it isn’t the first time Naomi went viral this year. She also went viral when she returned at the Royal Rumble. Morrision chimes in to say she didn’t win that match either. According to the duo the one way that Naomi can overcome this is to start winning.

She states that for the past decade she has been showing up and showing out consistently. She gives it all every time she steps in the ring and that is why her fans always have her back and that is why they want more for her.

Special guest to Miz TV was surprise, surprise – Lacey Evans. Evans enters the ring and starts to taunt Naomi. Evans pulls out her lipstick and compact, and as she is applying it she says that Naomi has been here for a decade and doesn’t have much to show for it. Calls her washed up. Naomi attacks her and the two start to brawl. Naomi stands tall as Evans retreats.

The two will meet next week in the ring.

Next week advertised is also the return of Otis and Mandy Rose with their love story.

Let’s get to the Winners & Losers:

WINNER: Nikki Cross

Cross is the clear winner as she earns her rematch. Everything is going to build towards SummerSlam from here on out, so perhaps they will allow Nikki to win the belt. If that is the case then Sasha and Bayley can just focus on the tag titles. If this pans out then Nikki will probably face Alexa at SummerSlam, but only time will tell how things pan out the next couple of weeks.

WINNER: Naomi

For all intents and purposes, Naomi is a winner of the week. The segment was nothing earth shattering, but she did come out looking good from it. We will see if this actually amounts to her winning next week. If not, then what was the point? It is clear they notice what the audience wants, so give it.

LOSER: Alexa Bliss

Storyline wise, Alexa would wind up on the losing end. Nikki is clearly receiving the push at the moment, and just one person out of a tag team getting the push doesn’t look well for the other. Personally I just want heel Alexa back. She doesn’t need to be pushed to the title necessarily but I think her and Nikki could have a nice feud.

SmackDown Women’s Title match set for 7.31 – Bayley vs. Nikki Cross

On this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, Nikki Cross won another shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She faced her tag team partner and best friend, Alexa Bliss, in a one-on-one match.

Cross picked up the win with a cradle after she seemed to be in trouble due to her injured ribs. The idea of the number one contender match was Bayley‘s saying that if Cross wanted another shot at her title then she would have to earn it.

She recently had a title match against Bayley at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view last weekend. With SummerSlam, a month away, will Bayley still be SmackDown Women’s Champion heading into that event? Could we maybe move on for a feud between Cross and Bliss if Cross is able to take down the longest-reigning SmackDown champ?

What are your thoughts on seeing this match happen, again?

SmackDown Discussion Post: 07.24.20

As Extreme Rules is over and done with, SummerSlam is next. Although the days are moving forward, we still do not have a clear winner for the RAW Women’s Championship. Asuka and Sasha Banks will fight it out on Monday, but for tonight Banks and Bayley will be addressing the controversy.

Along with Banks and Bayley, Naomi is being advertised for tonight as well as she will be on Miz TV. She will be discussing her recent loss last week to Lacey Evans and how her fans have supported her taking social media by storm with #NaomiDeservesBetter.

At this time there hasn’t been any matches announced, but these two segments could break down into a match or two.

Feel free to use the comment section below to discuss tonight’s SmackDown.

Mayu Iwatani retains World of STADOM Championship

Mayu Iwatani is still your World of STARDOM Champion. She retained the title against Jungle Kyona on day 2 of STARDOM’s action-packed two-day event, Cinderella Summer in Nagoya, which took place July, 23 and 24.

Cinderella Summer in Nagoya -Day Two

Mayu Itwatani vs Jungle Kyona for the World of STARDOM Championship was the headline match and the first time the two competitors met in one-on-one action.

With the title challenge taking place in Kyona’s home town, many were expecting the recently returned star to win her first singles championship in the company. However, Iwatani was able to successfully defend the title and continue 263-day reign.

Prior to the championship match, there was an Eight Woman Tag Team match that saw Donna del Mondo take on Queen’s Quest. No winner was determined after the two teams battled it out to a thirty-minute draw.

Also on the card, Riho and Tam Nakona took on Odea Tai’s Tora Natsuko and Natsu Sumire. Riho and Tam won via disqualification when Natsuko went all Natsuko on us and struck the official.

Starlight Kid defeated Death Yama and Sati Kashima in a Three-Way match when she pinned Death. And in the opening match of the night, Konami defeated Saya Iida.

That brings us to the end of Cinderella Summer in Nagoya Day Two, so let’s get to the action of the opening night.

Cinderella Summer in Nagoya – Day One

The July, 23 show was all about the Artist of STARDOM Championships on the line. Champions, Donna Del Mondo trio of Giulia, Maika and Syuri took on Odeo Tai trio of Tora Natsuka, Natsu Sumire and Saki Kashima.

The match was made at New Summer 2020 – Day 1 on July, 11 when Saki challenged Donna del Mondo for the Artist of Stardom Championships after she pinned Giulia with a surprise roll-up. It was Giulia’s first loss in STARDOM and a massive shock to the leader of Donna del Mondo. So passions were running high heading into this main event match.

Donna del Mondo would retain the titles when Giulia got her revenge of Saki and pinned her with a Glorious Driver for the win.

Also on the show we saw Mayu Iwatani and Tam Nakano teamed to face Jungle Kyona and Konami. Kyona pinned Mayu Iwatani after the Jungle Buster.

Lita was supposed to have more pay-per-view matches with Chyna

Two of the biggest names in women’s wrestling in the late 1990s and early 2000s were Lita and Chyna. Of course, there were other household names, but these two become revolutionary and are celebrated still for their contributions. The two met at the Judgement Day pay-per-view in 2001 with the WWF Women’s Championship on the line.

Heading into the match, Chyna was the champion in her first and only reign when she defeated Ivory at WrestleMania X-Seven. Lita was going for her second reign. Chyna was able to defeat Lita and this in fact became her last match with the company as she exited later in that year. From that, the championship was vacated and Trish Stratus won it in a six-pack challenge.

Lita spoke with Corey Graves on his podcast, After the Bell, and discussed many topics. Of that came the discussion that Lita was supposed to have a series of pay-per-view matches with Chyna. This never came to see the light of day as Chyna exited the company.

“When Chyna was transitioning from working with only men and then to women, she went through Ivory and Right To Censor and then into a program with me. We had one pay-per-view match together and it was supposed to be a three pay-per-view program. So, intentionally, the first match we had was solid. It was okay, but we wanted to give the people just enough for them to go, ‘There’s something here. We want to see more.’ We held back knowing, thinking, that we were going to have two more matches, but she ended up not working there. That was the end of her time with WWE and we didn’t have that program.”

Lita stated that she and Chyna held back from that match as they expected more time to shine and show what they could do together. From this experience, Lita learned to take every opportunity

“I have been told this advice before. Any opportunity you have, make the most of it, act like it’s your last match every night, and if I had done that, we would have had a much more memorable match.”

What do you think of this? Would you have liked to see more high profile matches between Chyna and Lita? Let us know in the comment section below.

Naomi to address her recent loss and her fan support on Miz TV

After Naomi‘s loss to Lacey Evans on last week’s SmackDown, social media blew up in support for her. The #NaomiDeservesBetter trended on Twitter and had many people, both fans and other talent included, commenting that she deserves better. A frequent video that was shown was her return at this year’s Royal Rumble and the crowd reaction she received.

It was clear after her loss that she was tired of being on this losing streak she has been on in recent months. Ironically her last win was when she teamed with Lacey Evans in February to defeat Bayley and Sasha Banks. Her last clean singles win was against Carmella on Feb. 21.

She tweeted the following after her loss last week:

Tune in to SmackDown this Friday as Naomi addresses her recent losses and how she feels about the support from the WWE Universe.

Penelope Ford and Abadon in action on next week’s AEW Dark

AEW has announced tonight that Penelope Ford and Abadon will be in action on next week’s AEW Dark. Penelope Ford will face Kenzie Page and the creepy Abadon will take on Skyler Moore.

Abadon was last seen on AEW programming since her debut on AEW Dynamite June, 17 when she defeated Anna Jay. This will be the second time Abadon has wrestled on Dark. Back in March, she took on Hikaru Shida in a losing but attention-grabbing effort.

Penelope Ford hasn’t been in action since she unsuccessfully challenged Hikaru Shida of the AEW Women’s Championship at Fyter Fest – Night 1. Ford had been on a decent run leading up to the match with Shida and has only been seen briefly since. However, she was featured in the promo video for the upcoming Women’s Tag Team Tournament – The Deadly Deal. So hopefully we will see her getting back to winning ways in the build-up to the tournament against Page on next week’s AEW Dark.

AEW Dark has been offering up some jam-packed shows as of late and next week’s show is no different.

Hikaru Shida vs Diamante set for next week’s AEW Dynamite

AEW has announced that Diamante will face AEW Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida next week in a non-title match.

Shida will have a tough challenge on her hands as Diamante comes into the match with two consecutive wins. Her first victory was against KiLynn King on Tuesday’s Dark. She would then defeat Ivelisse on last night’s Dynamite.

Diamante vs Ivelisse was announced last week and was a highly anticipated match up. Both competitors were making their AEW Dynamite debuts and made sure that they left their mark.

The match was rough and tough, fierce and furious. Both fighters beat the hell out of each other from beginning to end.

The match starts with Ivelisse getting in Diamante’s face followed with a barrage of chops in the corner. Ivelisse stops to gloat allowing Dimante to fight back with a round of strikesof her own.

The action would continue with both competitors bouncing off one another mercilessly firing increasingly stiff shots, strikes and kicks.

The intensity would increase as they would take the action outside. National pride would come to play as they traded vicious chops while calling out the name of their respective country.

Back in the ring, the stiff strikes would continue, with a few headlocks thrown in for good measure. Ivelisse would throw some insults Dimante’s way. This would result in another nasty round of strikes.

Diamante would get the better of Ivelisse and deliver two clotheslines followed by a German Suplex for a close fall.

Ivelisse would smash Diamante with a powerbomb for a near fall. Diamante recovered and rolled Ivelisse up in a small package for a hard-fought victory.

This was brutal, strike-heavy match. Diamante and Ivelisse went out there to prove a point. They held nothing back and showed some real intensity. These two have a lot of history, which should’ve really been highlighted beforehand with a simple video package that AEW is really good at producing.

This was a good match. It showcased two highly competitive wrestlers that are prepared to give it all in the ring. Expect to see them team up for the upcoming women’s tag team tournament – The Deadly Draw.

In the meantime Diamante will get another chance to show what she can do against AEW Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida next week.

AEW announces the Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament: The Deadly Draw

During tonight’s AEW Dynamite, it was announced that coming soon this summer will be the Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament The Deadly Draw. The women of AEW finally seem to be getting some momentum and will be showcased.

According to the preview, 16-women in the form of eight teams will be featured. Who will step up and form their teams to take this tournament by storm? How the teams will be set up doesn’t seem to be set in stone just yet. It could be a random pairing or could be women who have worked together in the past. More information is still to come. One team seems to be for sure and that is Brandi Rhodes and Allie: The Nightmare Sisters.

In addition to information that is still to come, there is no word on what the winners will receive. Perhaps this will lead to AEW creating the women’s tag team championship?

NXT Discussion Post: 07.22.20

It was announced earlier today on WWE’s The Bump that tonight’s advertised match for NXT will be Shotzi Blackheart vs. Aliyah. Robert Stone announced this as he and Aliyah have had recent run-ins with Blackheart.

After Blackheart ran over Stone’s ankle with her tank two weeks ago, he and Aliyah have been looking for revenge. Last week they were able to cost Blackheart her match against Indi Hartwell. This had a glimpse into perhaps another member joining the Robert Stone Brand in that of Hartwell.

Last week we saw a successful win to retain her title as Io Shirai defeated Tegan Nox. After the match, she was attacked by Dakota Kai signaling that Kai wants the next title shot. What may develop from this on tonight’s show?

Ruby Riott comments on her first singles win of the year

Ruby Riott had an impressive victory over Peyton Royce this past Monday on RAW. A win that she has been needing and wanting ever since she returned from her shoulder injury in February. Her injuries had her out of action since April of 2019.

Since returning, she has had her fallout with former Riott Squad member Liv Morgan and recently feuding with The IIconics. All of which she would wind up on the losing end up until last week when she teamed with Bianca Belair. Although she did win last week, Belair was the one to get the pin and it was in a tag team match.

There has been rumblings that her and Morgan will reunite once again as a tag team and her win against Royce this week was definitely retribution. She had the following to say on Twitter:

“Monday night was a special night. My match against Peyton Royce might not have been for a title, or even an opportunity at one. But, it was my first singles win since November of 2019. When I came back from my shoulder surgeries, I thought things would be exactly how I left them, but they weren’t. Things changed….people changed and I didn’t know how to handle it, but the fire that was lit after Peyton disrespected Liv Morgan, was one that I’ve felt for months. Even if it was only for a few minutes. Liv, if you watched on Monday, I hope you were proud. Peyton, from now on, keep her name outta your mouth.”

With keeping Morgan in this storyline it does seem as though the route to get her and Riott together may still be happening. We will have to see where this takes Riott now that she is finally in the win column against The IIconics.

What direction would you like to see Riott head towards? Would you like to see her and Morgan in the tag team division again, or would you like to see her run for championship gold solo?

Shazza McKenzie wants indie wrestlers to challenge Hikaru Shida

As the AEW Women’s World Champion, Hikaru Shida declared that she is open to any and all challengers for her title. Her open challenge has open many eyes throughout women’s wrestling and has caught the attention of Shazza McKenzie.

The Australian native posted a video on her social media saying that she would love to break Shida’s heart and challenge her to take the title. Unfortunately for McKenzie, she is currently stuck in Australia and is unable to get to the United States to face the champion. Instead, she is promoting the idea of having more indie female wrestlers get a crack at the title.

In the post the former Heart of SHIMMER Champion tagged just some of the talent she would like to see face Shida. The names she listed were Hyan, Nicole Savoy, Heather Monroe, Solo Darling, Trish Adora, and Holidead. She followed up by saying that she could easily have gone on to list many more names.

McKenzie has made a couple of appearances with AEW in 2019 including being a participant in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out which was won by Nyla Rose.

Shida’s last match was on this week’s AEW Dark where she defeated Rache Chanel. She successfully defended her title against Penelope Ford at Fyter Fest.

What are your thoughts on having more indie wrestlers compete in AEW?

Bea Priestley and Jamie Hayter vacate the Goddesses of STARDOM Championships

STARDOM has vacated the Goddesses of STARDOM Tag Team Championships meaning that Bea Priestley and Jamie Hayter are no longer the title holders. The decision was made as the duo are unable to defend the titles due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Hayter and Priestley won the titles from Jungle Kyona and Konami at Stardom 9th Anniversary on January, 19. And have only defended them once against Momo Watanabe and Utami Hayashishita at Stardom No People Gate on March, 8.

New champions will be crowned on July, 23 at Korakuen Hall when number one contenders Utami Hayashishita and Saya Kamitani face Jungle Kyona and Konami for the vacant titles.

The show on July, 23 already hosts two championship matches. Giulia takes on Tam Nakano for the vacant Wonder of STARDOM Champion. And Riho will also defend her High Speed Championship in a Three-Way Match against AZM and Starlight Kid.

What do you make of the decision and what match are you most looking forward to on July, 26? Let us know in the comments below. As always stay tuned to Diva Dirt for all of your STARDOM news and reviews.

Sasha Banks vs. Asuka scheduled to determine the true RAW Women’s Champion

After their match at Extreme Rules was met with a controversial ending, many were waiting to see who would officially be the RAW Women’s Champion. Bayley ended up “borrowing” the referee’s shirt from the match at that event and provided the count of three to crown her best friend as the champion. Of course, this left confusion as Bayley was not in the right to call the match.

On tonight’s RAW, both Bayley and Banks made their way to the ring with all the gold. The ring announcer did not introduce Banks as the RAW Women’s Champion. As they enter the ring, they explain their actions. Bayley explains she did what was only right after Asuka spewed her green mist in the eyes of the official nearly blinding him.

Although the Golden Role Models feel that Banks is indeed the RAW Women’s Champion, Asuka feels very different. She made her way out to the stage with Kairi Sane to deliver her displeasure saying that Sasha was not ready for Asuka and that Asuka was not ready for a thief. She says the RAW Women’s Title is hers. Banks demanded her to come and get it. As the Kabuki Warriors charge the ring, Stephanie McMahon appeared on the screen to address the controversy.

She congratulates the Golden Role Models for being the Women’s Tag Team Champions. She congratulates Bayley for being the SmackDown Women’s Champion. However, when it comes to the RAW Women’s Title – Sasha may believe she is the champion but McMahon has a difference of opinion.

McMahon says that Banks didn’t win last night but then again neither did Asuka. So next week on RAW we will have another title match to determine who is the rightful RAW Women’s Champion. She adds the stipulations that Banks could lose to pinfall, submission, count-out, disqualification, or if a certain Role Model interferes in the match.

Leave your thoughts in the comment section below. Who do you think will walk away as the red brand’s champion next week?

RAW Discussion Post: 07.20.20

Tonight’s RAW will certainly have people tuning in as the fans need answers. After a controversial ending to the RAW Women’s Championship match at Extreme Rules over the weekend, fans want to know who the champion is.

The finish saw Bayley taking the shirt of the referee and making the count to determine that Sasha Banks is the new champion.

This obviously is not an official call as Bayley was not the referee of the match. As of now WWE lists the result as a no contest which would mean that Asuka is still champion.

It is also rumored that tonight may be Kairi Sane‘s last appearance with the company. If that is the case then the match between her and Asuka that seemed to be brewing would not take place. Let’s see if anything is mentioned of this on tonight’s show.

Feel free to discuss tonight’s show in the comment section below to see how they explain this controversial ending.
