Liv Morgan Continues The Heat With Dominik! Baszler/Stark Gain Momentum

0

Hello everyone and welcome back to our Monday Night Raw recap!

This is the last Raw before Clash at the Castle! As of right now there is not a Women’s World Title booked on the card nor does it look like there will be one.

Liv Morgan’s focus since retaining her title against Becky Lynch in a steel cage has been on Judgment Day, in particular Dominik Mysterio.

First piece of women’s action shows Liv following up on her attempts to seduce Dominik Mysterio, this week by slipping her hotel key card into his pocket. There’s nothing coy about it, Liv is straight up inviting Dom to jump her bones, an invitation he clearly wants to take Morgan up on.

“A gorgeous man like you shouldn’t be with a woman who makes you call her Mami, a gorgeous man like you should be with a girl who calls you Daddy.” – Ms. Morgan

Lyra Valkyria vs. Iyo Sky

QOTR rematch between these two and we’re off to quick start right away, with Iyo being the aggressor right out the gate. The frustration Iyo’s feeling is palpable as she tries to make short work of the former NXT champion with Valkyria proving she’s no fluke. These two have great chemistry with each other for barely working with one another. I wouldn’t say this match reached the heights of their QOTR qualifier (not bad by any means) but we did see firmly established alignments with Damage Control interfering on Iyo’s behalf and Sky ultimately resulting to dirty tactics for the win.

Winner: Iyo Sky

After the match, Iyo can’t leave Lyra be and delivers a post match beat down as Dakota and Kairi look on confused – like sis, we just won, no? Kayden Carter & Katana Chance run down to make the save which I’m all for! We should get some interesting match combinations between these teams.

Liv came out during Dominik’s tag match against the LWO for some more sexual chicanery. Morgan jumped on the apron to once again try and seduce Dom Dom. The pair exchanged glances until Zelina Vega made her presence known, knocking Liv off the apron and onto Dom’s lap into a straddling position. I’ve seen this exact scene so many times in anime and the effect they were going for definitely translated. Morgan and Vega then got into a short brawl. This could hint that Vega will be Morgan’s first challenger (at least until Mami comes back).

Backstage segment with Damage Control, Iyo looks beyond frustrated despite her victory earlier tonight against Lyra. Sky did a great job emoting how she was trying to hold back her rage, expressing frustration before slipping into chaos stating “Damage Control needs to change.”

Sonya & Nattie cameo backstage in a blink and you miss it moment, at least they looked great. They were clearly discussing what Nattie wanted to speak to Sony about last week.

Tag Team Champions, Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair are out next in matching sequin outfits, and it really is those small touches.

Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn vs. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark

Before the match we got an interview from Alba & Isla hyping up their tag team title match for this Sunday at Clash. Happy for them they’re getting to perform in their home country! That’s where the good news ends for Alba & Isla though bc Shayna is feeling a certain type of way after her loss to Lola last night.

Shayna walked into the match with a dark cloud of bad booking hovering over her, squashing Alba & Isla (yes, the challengers for the tag team titles at Clash) in the process. I don’t use the word squash flippantly but this did absolutely nothing for Alba & Isla. And I know just last night I was complaining about Shayna losing to Vice in a match that should’ve been a foregone conclusion but two bad booking decisions doesn’t make a good one. Yes, Shayna did come out of the tag match last night the best she’s looked since her 2020 main roster debut but it made Alba in particular look like fodder. Whatever. This is the direction they were given, everyone played their role well, just not a fan of the creative here.

Winner: Shayna & Zoey

We are getting a triple threat for the tag titles at Clash, which makes the match a bit more unpredictable as that would be an easy out to get the belts off Jade & Bianca. Not crazy about how we got here but with SummerSlam looming, I’m curious if we’re going to get Jade vs. Bianca this soon or if they’re going to build it further down the line.

Another criticism against creative, the lack of challengers for Liv Morgan. I understand the story being built here is between Liv & Rhea, but this was the exact same issue I had with Rhea’s reign. Hopefully this means Rhea’s coming back sooner rather than later.

Middle of the road Raw for me last night, but after Clash we’re gearing up for MITB!! Sound off with which qualifiers you’re hoping to see starting next week!

IYO SKY To Take On Utami At Marigold Event

0

The working relationship between WWE and Marigold seems clear as IYO SKY will be facing Utami Hayashishita. The match is set to take place on July 13 at Marigold’s Summer Destiny event.

SKY appeared on screen at the most recent Marigold event and followed up on social media.

“As a WWE Superstar, I will enter the ring on July 13th at Ryogoku Kokugikan

This will be a “dream match” for women’s wrestling fans not only in Japan but all over the world.

This premium fight will never happen again… please look forward to it.”

These two women have never shared the ring together!

SKY signed with WWE back in 2018. Prior to that, she was the original leader of Queen’s Quest as part of STARDOM. Utami went on to become the leader of the group as well. The match is considered a Queen of Queen match.

Previously announced for the event is Giulia vs. Sareee.

Tonight’s Raw will have IYO SKY taking on Lyra Valkyria. We’ll likely see the Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and also some last build for the Women’s Tag Team Title match at Clash ay the Castle.

Roxanne Perez Retains As Ash By Elegance & Tatum Paxley Distract Jordynne Grace

0

Roxanne Perez is still the NXT Women’s Champion.

After a barn burner of a match between Perez and the TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace, Perez has made sure the NXT gold stays in NXT. But it wasn’t for lack of trying on Grace’s part. Perez knew that Grace overpowered her so she kept up with her agility and quickness throughout the match.

It all built up to an ending which involved Tatum Paxley and TNA’s Ash By Elegance (Dana Brooke). Paxley has been obsessed with championship gold ever since she was attached at the hip to Lyra Valkyria. It was always the gold that Paxley was after and once Valkyria lost it the need to be in Valkyria’s presence was over.

Paxley came out from the crowd and admired the NXT Women’s Title belt but it was the TNA Knockouts Title belt that she grabbed and took off with. She was stopped on the ramp by Ash who fought the belt away from her. This distraction caused Grace to leave the ring and take out both Paxley and Ash.

Back in the ring, Grace went for the Juggernaut Driver but it was countered into a cutter which allowed Perez to set up and execute Pop Rox for the win. Grace seethed in the corner of the ring as Ash yelled at her from the ramp.

Elsewhere at Battleground, Lola Vice defeated Shayna Baszler in NXT Underground. The referee chose to stop the match as Vice was pummeling Baszler.

Kelani Jordan became the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion which you can read about here.

Kelani Jordan Makes History As The First NXT Women’s North American Champion

Kelani Jordan did it at NXT Battleground!

Jordan climbed the ladder to grab the NXT Women’s North American Championship belt, becoming the first woman to hold the new gold. She defeated a field of talent including Michin, Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, and Jaida Parker. All six women showed out and all proved they belonged in this match.

Several big spots took place including all five women joining together to lift Legend up and dump her on top of a ladder set up between the ring and the commentary table. This took Legend out for the rest of the match.

Ruca went on a Sol Snatcher spree on Henley and Parker in a late part of the match, but it would come down to Michin and Jordan. Jordan delivered a split legged moonsault to Michin on top of a ladder to keep her down and out.

Gigi Dolin Sidelined With Knee Injury

0

NXT Superstar Gigi Dolin hasn’t been in the wrestling ring for a match since March, and now we know why. According to a report by Fightful Select, Dolin is suffering from a major knee injury. She had been used on NXT TV in segments with Arianna Grace up until a few weeks ago when that storyline was dropped.

According to Fightful Select:

A longtime NXT star who had been getting main roster looks has been sidelined.

Dolin has been appearing in recent months, as she had largely been present in segments along with Arianna Grace, but this storyline was dropped as Arianna has moved on from the angle on NXT television. The reason has been was confirmed by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and Corey Brennan as being a serious knee injury. She was recently seen with a knee brace, leading to some speculation.

In recent months, Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan had learned that the program with Grace had been dropped, and Sapp confirmed that Dolin was still with the company. Sapp also confirmed that there had long been discussions about her potential main roster future, and had got multiple looks by WWE on Main Event. Dolin appeared on two episodes of Smackdown in 2022, and between December 2024 and January 2024, was booked for three episodes of Main Event.

Dolin had not been backstage at several tapings for a while, and had filmed the majority of her sketches with Arianna Grace outside of the WWE Performance Center. We were told at the time this was used as an avenue to keep her on TV while injured.

Dolin has not wrestled since the March 12 edition of NXT where she lost to Grace and was forced to undergo a makeover at the hands of the beauty queen.

Purrazzo vs. Rosa Set For No DQ Match; Toni Storm Wants Mariah May In The Owen Hart Cup

Toni Storm took on Lady Frost for the June 8 episode of AEW Collision. The AEW Women’s World Champion was victorious in the non-title match and put Frost away with the Storm Zero.

Frost gave a quality promo after her defeat where she guaranteed that her time is coming.

Post match, Storm also had a moment with Mariah May where she demands May be entered in the Owen Hart Cup. This results in May, Willow Nightingale, and Kris Statlander all entering.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Thunder Rosa has been confirmed for next week’s Collision. It will be a No Disqualification match. This will be the third match between the two with Rosa winning their first match and Purrazzo winning the second.

NXT Battleground Predictions For June 9

0

NXT Battleground will be here this Sunday live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. There are a total of six matches on the card with three of them for the women, including a new championship to be crowned.

The matches are as follows:

NXT Underground Match

Shayna Baszler vs. Lola Vice

NXT Women’s North American Title

Ladder Match

Michin vs. Lash Legend vs. Fallon Henley vs. Jaida Parker vs. Sol Ruca vs. Kelani Jordan

NXT Women’s Title Match

Roxanne Perez (c) vs. TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace

Here’s Diva Dirt’s predictions:

NXT Underground Match

NICK: If Lola hadn’t won against Nattie, I would have to give this one to her, but she did. I just don’t see in a world where Shayna will lose this. Shayna does have a big loss to win ratio but this is one match I can’t see her losing.

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

JOEY: The story for this match has done little to make me want to root for either woman. I really enjoyed the underground match between Lola and Nattie though, so hopefully they can provide the same level of entertainment here. I like Lola just fine, but she’s got no business beating Shayna (had no business beating Nattie either but whatever). Hopefully WWE remembers that Shayna beat Ronda at SummerSlam last year in a similar match up. Not to mention, losing to Shayna won’t hurt Lola in the slightest but Shayna losing to Lola… that’s a no from me.

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

ALGEO: To be frank, I’m not sure what’s going on here, but this sounds like an aggressive little match! Lola can prove a lot here, but I do believe a win for Shayna can garner her a little more momentum in an albeit interesting main roster run.

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

DAVID: Shayna Baszler. I’m admittedly not a big fan of Lola, and it would be satisfying to see Shayna put her in her place. I think it would actually help Lola in the long run as it could help her develop more of a serious character and have her stray away from the “I shake my ass on TikTok” shtick she’s been doing for over a year now. A loss to Shayna would also probably teach her from a character standpoint to not think of herself so highly when she’s still just a developmental talent.

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

NXT Women’s North American Title

NICK: Any of the six could win and I honestly wouldn’t be mad at it. However, there is one woman who just keeps losing the big one and I think now is her time, and that is Kelani. Kelani would be a perfect babyface to start this new title and I’d be down for it.

WINNER: Kelani Jordan

ALGEO: This brand new title has a legend written all over it, and I don’t see anyone else holding it other than the one and only Ms. Lash Legend! Considering her story with the Meta Four and Trick Williams it only adds so much to the story they already have. And furthermore, Lash will have more opportunities to showcase her prowess with some gold on her.

WINNER: Lash Legend

JOEY: There’s so much excitement surrounding this match between crowning an inaugural champion, the unpredictability over whose winning and each performer being hungry to prove themselves as the next breakout star in NXT. It’s difficult to choose a winner bc a case could be made for each superstar on why they should win but like I said in my NXT recap this week, Fallon and Sol are the two I keep going back and forth on who should walk out with the North American Championship. Against my better judgment, I’m going to go against the feel good moment, so fingers crossed this match is second on the show.

WINNER: Fallon Henley

DAVID: Sol Ruca. While Lash would not be a bad pick considering her high-profile storyline with NXT Champion Trick Williams at the moment, Sol made her return a few months ago from an injury that took her out of action for almost a year. Her winning the title would really bring her time in NXT full circle and would be a good heartfelt moment for her.

WINNER: Sol Ruca

NXT Women’s Title Match

NICK: If any of you have known me over the past few years, you would know my love for Jordynne Grace. When she was revealed as the surprise opponent I literally cried. This is a dream and I am so excited for her. With that being said, I am shocked by my fellow writers predictions all picking Ms. Grace to win. Do we really think that? I’d be down, but I just don’t see a world (yet) that a WWE title, even an NXT one, is held in another company. So for that alone I go with Roxy retaining.

WINNER: Roxanne Perez

JOEY: Well this was a delightful surprise!! Imagine if Jordynne wins the match and takes the NXT Women’s Title to TNA, recreating a summer invasion type angle where members of the NXT roster go to TNA trying to win it back from Grace. Roxanne being beside herself and fumbling her championship over to a completely different company could be fascinating storytelling from a character perspective, especially with how highly Perez regards herself. I feel like this is probably a foregone conclusion but with NXT leaning into the mess lately, I think I will too.

WINNER: Jordynne Grace

ALGEO: The implications of this match seem so unpredictable. On one hand Roxanne Perez is just fresh into this reign and can do so much with it at this time, and it makes sense for her to stick it out as champion in the long run. Meanwhile, Jordynne Grace has the opportunity to do something unheard of in the world of wrestling. I think I’m on the side of herstory making for this one, and regardless of how it’s handled this could change the rulebook of WWE and TNA as we know it.

WINNER: Jordynne Grace

DAVID: This was a hard one, but ultimately I picked Jordynne Grace. With the way NXT’s women’s division is currently with an overwhelming amount of heels and babyfaces who haven’t been built up to a high level or haven’t been on the show long enough, it’s hard to see where Roxanne’s title reign can go if she beats Jordynne. Jordynne on the other hand, despite being from another company in TNA, could revitalize the division for a little while and hopefully build up some more names. As i’m not someone who watches TNA on a regular basis, I would like to see more of her in the ring and see how she meshes with the NXT girls. I think she’ll leave quite the impact. (Pun intended)

WINNER: Jordynne Grace

Kris Statlander And Willow Nightingale Enter The Owen Hart Cup

On the June 8 episode of AEW Collision, the first two women were confirmed for the upcoming Owen Hart Foundation Cup. The tournament is the third annual with the winner also set to receive a championship match. Both Kris Statlander and last year’s winner Willow Nightingale have been confirmed.

Statlander had a match where she defeated Robyn Renegade. Statlander has a new theme and post match Stokely Hathaway confirmed Kris’ involvement in the tournament. Nightingale confirmed she will be entering moments later.

Naomi Looks Ahead To MITB, Wants A Glowing Briefcase

Naomi will be facing the unpredictable Chelsea Green at the upcoming SmackDown on June 14 in Glasgow just ahead of Clash at the Castle. Naomi says she intends to make it GlasGLOW. But after she is done with Ms. Green, Naomi wants to become Ms. Money in the Bank.

On this week’s SmackDown LowDown, Naomi stated:

“I’m super excited about that. I look forward to turning Glasgow into GlasGLOW when I make Chelsea Green bring it to the floor. Then after I take care of that, I can really focus on qualifying for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. I feel like that briefcase has my name on it, and a glowing briefcase would be lit!”

Naomi is the second woman to mention the upcoming Money in the Bank match following Lyra Valkyria on Raw. The MITB event will be here before you know at as it takes place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on July 6.

Stephanie Vaquer To Defend NJPW STRONG Women’s Title On June 21

0

Mercedes Moné isn’t the only one who will be defending her title before the huge Title for Title match at Forbidden Door. Earlier, it was reported that Moné will be defending the TBS Championship against CMLL’s Zeuxis. Now, Stephanie Vaquer will be defending her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship before she takes on Moné at Forbidden Door.

Vaquer will defend her championship at the Fantasticamania Mexico event against CMLL’s La Catalina. Some of you may remember La Catalania as she performed in WWE NXT under the ring name Katrina Cortez.

If either Moné or Vaquer lose their upcoming title matches, then the match at Forbidden Door will he just for one championship.

Belair and Cargill Stay On Top; Piper Niven Reminds Bayley of Her Journey

This week’s Friday Night SmackDown emanated from Louisville, Kentucky inside the finger lickin’ good KFC Yum! Center with some important developments brewing among the femme fatales of Friday nights as we inch closer and closer to Glasgow, Scotland, where Clash at the Castle will be taking place on Saturday, June 15th.

Originally scheduled to be a one-on-one match between Jade Cargill and Indi Hartwell, the team of Hartwell and Candice LeRae would complain to SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis about the match being unfair, so Aldis made the decision to change it into a tag team match with Bianca and Candice now involved.

With two teams already in the ring, two other teams were outside the ring in the form of two tag teams from Raw: Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler at the end of the ramp plus The Unholy Union of Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre near the commentary desk.

Cargill won the match for her and Belair by pinning LeRae, but the two teams wouldn’t just observe the champions with envy, making statements by attacking them and laying them out into the ringside area. With Stark and Baszler attacking Cargill and Fyre and Dawn attacking Belair, the teams took each of their respective belts, but Cargill and Belair launched an assault on both teams and ensured the women’s tag team championships remained in their possession in the lead up to Clash at the Castle.

Later on, as Belair and Cargill were seen exiting Aldis’ office, it was revealed by Belair that there would be a triple threat tag team match at Clash at the Castle for the Women’s Tag Team Championship, with them facing off against The Unholy Union and Stark/Baszler.

Backstage, Tiffany Stratton quickly approached Nia Jax about forming a potential partnership. Jax didn’t seem phased by it, and Stratton left.

Jax then turned around to face Michin, who she had insulted last week. Nia tried to once again make AJ Styles’s false retirement the main topic of discussion but Michin wouldn’t have it, pouring a drink in Nia’s face and immediately breaking out into a fight with Jax that was broken up by officials, with Michin warning her to keep AJ’s name out of her mouth.

WWE Women’s Champion Bayley made her way out to the ring to cut a promo but was interrupted by Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. Green made sure to mention that Bayley was a loser in various ways: a loser in Saudi Arabia, a loser last week, a loser tag team partner in Naomi, and a loser again, when her “sweet little P” would become Women’s Champion at Clash at the Castle

Bayley would take aim at Chelsea’s association with Piper, stating that Piper didn’t need her and mentioning that she respected Piper going back to her participation in the Mae Young Classic in 2017, and that she understood the feeling of fighting in front of her hometown with family and friends watching. What Bayley takes issue with though, is that Piper could have easily asked for a title shot, but instead jumped her from behind.

Piper retorts, stating that she embarrassed Bayley enough last week and will save the rest for her in eight days’ time. She appreciates knowing Bayley’s respect for her and her journey, but that’s the thing: Bayley knows nothing about Piper’s journey, which goes beyond the Mae Young Classic to 2008. Comparing her experience to Bayley’s, she didn’t get to enter the Performance Center giving hugs and high-fives, she had to make a name for herself in the wrestling scene internationally, winning multiple championships and earning the privilege of being a world champion before even stepping into WWE. She caps off the promo by stating that Bayley can respect her all she likes, but it won’t stop her from drilling her head into the mat and standing tall as the new Women’s Champion on June 15th. The promo ended there with a staredown between Piper and Bayley as the champion held her title high.

Now backstage, Chelsea and Piper were discussing post-championship victory plans when they encountered Nick Aldis speaking to Naomi. The Girl With The Glow had taken exception to Green’s comments about her, warning her to stop bringing her name up. Green continued to mock a heated Naomi. With Aldis remarking that he’s had a stressful night, a match was made between Green and Naomi for next week.

Here’s what will take place on next week’s episode of SmackDown, airing from the site of Clash at the Castle, the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland:

  • Michin vs Nia Jax
  • Naomi vs Chelsea Green

Mercedes Moné To Defend TBS Title On June 12 Dynamite

Mercedes Moné and Stephanie Vaquer are about to battle at Forbidden Door in a Title for Title match. But before we get there, Moné will put the TBS Championship on June 12’s Dynamite. She will take on Zeuxis, the tag team partner of Vaquer in CMLL.

Before we get to Wednesday’s Dynamite, Collision on Saturday will have the AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm facing Lady Frost in a non-title match. Storm will be defending her gold at Forbidden Door against Mina Shirakawa.

The OG WWF/E Women’s Championship dates back to 1956 and ran until 2010 when it was unified with the Divas Championship.

There were a total of 28 women to hold the gold throughout all of those decades. There were two times in the history where the title was not being used. The title was deactivated in 1990 and returned at the end of 1993. Then in 1995, Alundra Blayze left WWF, went to WCW, and would drop the championship belt in the trash can on air. This moment is cemented in the belt’s history. The title returned in 1998.

There were also three women we will not be including in the voting as their reigns are not recognized. They are Bette Boucher, Yukiko Tomoe, and Evelyn Stevens. We will also not be including the new WWE Women’s Championship as that lineage is linked to the Raw Women’s Championship

Below you will see the list of 28 names. You may vote up to TEN names to determine the Top 10. Results will be posted once the poll is finished.

Latest On Natalya’s WWE Contract

0

On May 23, Fightful stated in a report that Natalya was offered and in talks with a new WWE contract but a decision had not been made.

That seems to still be the case.

In the latest report, Fightful Select states that two sides are still in talks, but a new contract has not been signed. There does appear to be interest outside of WWE as well.

As of now, WWE and Natalya are still in talks.

Recently, Fightful revealed that Natalya’s WWE contract is set to expire in June. Despite the fact that she’d been heavily featured on NXT, and looks to be headed in a new direction on WWE Raw, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that as of Thursday, Natalya and WWE have yet to come to terms on a new deal. The two sides have been in talks, however.

For those asking about outside interest, there is expected to be outside interest from a variety of companies globally, for a number of roles in addition to wrestling. We’ve had several inquiries about the possibility of Natalya working the Owen Hart Cup Tournament, and was told it was “plausible” depending on when the tournament starts. We’ve not heard anything on the AEW side as to whether or not they expect that.

Natalya’s deal is up over the next few weeks. Her husband TJ Wilson is also one of the most highly regarded producers in wrestling.

Natalya has been signed with WWE since 2007 and is the longest tenured woman on the roster.

TNA Impact! Celebrates 20th Year; Jordynne Grace Defends Against Allysin Kay

0

To start off the night, Steph De Lander is backstage talking about PCO’s crush on her in the past few weeks. Xia Brookside comes along thinking the whole situation is sweet and tells her to think about PCO’s interesting offer.

Gisele Shaw finally makes her return to TNA Impact! and is now referred to as “The Quintessential Knockout” as she comes down to the ring to face Shazza McKenzie. Gail Kim watches the match closely backstage, after encouraging Shaw to make a comeback to TNA.

Shaw is off to a very strong start against McKenzie but gets caught on the apron looking to shut down her return. Shaw’s tenacity catches McKenzie and quickly takes control of the match. She hits McKenzie with a Springboard Cutter and then follows up with a Running Knee to score the win.

Shortly after, Rosemary is seen in a vignette seemingly talking about her past sins.

The TNA Knockouts World Championship is at stake as Jordynne Grace looks to defend her title against Allysin Kay. After her run-in previously with Kay’s tag team partner, Marti Belle, Grace has a score to settle with the HEX.

Before we get started, George Iceman announces the return of Ash By Elegance to be a special spectator for the upcoming Knockouts title match. Ash’s smile looks to be fixed after getting knocked out by Brookside a few weeks ago.

Kay gets the advantage over Grace on the early goings of the match. And the odds are too much for Grace as Belle gets involved. The match is now all in Kay’s favor with the help of Belle at her side.

Grace manages to come back, propping up Kay for a Muscle Buster from the top rope. Belle gets involved yet again, but Grace takes her out for her troubles.

Grace powers out of Kay’s arsenal and manages to escape the AK47. Grace then hits the Juggernaut Driver to pick up the win, with a lot of momentum heading into the weekend.

With this successful defense, Grace now sets her focus on NXT Battleground this Sunday where she looks to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for her championship.

Despite if she wins or loses this Sunday, Grace will hold an open challenge for her title at Against All Odds next Friday.

What did you think of TNA Impact’s 20th Anniversary Show? How will the odds stack against Grace come this Sunday? And how did Shaw look on her return? Let us know in the comments below!

Moné vs Vaquer Title For Title Added To Forbidden Door; Saraya Taps Out Mariah May

On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, rivalries look to get settled and new ones are brewing as we set to the road for Forbidden Door later this month.

To start the night, we see the return of former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale making the save for Orange Cassidy from an attack by Kris Statlander and Trent Baretta. They both share some commonality as they were both betrayed by those two recently.

Later, Nightingale reflects on her TBS title loss at Double or Nothing but promises to settle the score one day. Now, her sights are set on Stokely Hathaway and Statlander and despite her smile, says that they don’t know how dangerous she can be.

After a standoff last week between Mercedes Moné and Stephanie Vaquer, it is announced that at Forbidden Door it will be a Title for Title match with the TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship both on the line. The two last faced off in the inaugural tournament for the title last year.

After being billed last week, Saraya and Mariah May finally face off tonight to settle this grudge the Outcasts have with “Timeless” Toni Storm’s entourage.

Saraya gets a quick start against May, attacking her before the bell even rings. May manages to get her footing together, but Saraya is having none of it and tries to dodge her. Saraya catches her again on the outside and continues to batter her on the barricade.

Saraya takes control of the match, but May manages to even the playing field by hitting a running crossbody. The two share strikes, but May quickly regains her momentum with a headbutt. Saraya manages to hit her Cradle DDT finisher on May, but miraculously May kicks out. May tries to roll up but eventually gets caught in the Scorpion Crosslock and taps out.

Storm on commentary, decides to help May in the ring but is caught in an attack by The Outcasts. That is until Mina Shirakawa flies in and makes the save for May once again. May’s companions are at odds, but she seemingly wants the two to get along. After being made official this past weekend, Shirakawa and Storm are set to face off for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door.

This Friday on Rampage, it is announced that Serena Deeb will face off against Mina Shirakawa in one-on-one action.

What did you think of tonight’s AEW Dynamite? How is the Forbidden Door card stacking up so far? What plans does Nightingale have in store for Statlander? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Asuka Shares Photo Of Her Injured Knee

0

The Empress of Tomorrow shares with her fans a photo of her injured knee. Asuka has been out of action since she and Kairi Sane lost the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Backlash in early May.

Asuka had been nursing a nagging knee injury and has taken this time to get it fixed. She was planned to be in the first round of the Queen of the Ring tournament but was pulled and replaced by Dakota Kai. Kai lost to Lyra Valkyria.

It is unknown at this time how long Asuka will be out of action.

Diva Dirt sends our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Asuka.

Women’s North American Title Summit Breaks Down! Jazmyn Nyx Gets First NXT Victory

0

Hello everyone and welcome to another NXT Recap!

It was a really fun show last night, some great build up leading up to Battleground this Sunday where we’re crowning the inaugural Women’s North American Champion!

Show opened up with Jordynne Grace vs. Stevie Turner! Nick already posted the recap for that match highlighting Jordynne’s dominance in her NXT in ring debut, you can discuss that here!

Winner: Jordynne Grace

For me, I’m still fairly new to Jordynne despite being familiar with who she is from frequenting Diva-Dirt. This match between her and Roxanne this Sunday is the one with the most intrigue due to the rumors swirling around around that WWE is purchasing Impact.

In ring summit took place featuring all six competitors for the inaugural Women’s North American Title match at Battleground this Sunday! This is a really fun segment with each performer getting a chance to shine on the mic. Jaida Parker is a damn natural, it’s come across effortless for her! She’s one I’m really enjoying watching at the moment.

Kelani Jordan came across much more confident in delivering her lines that a little bit came off as slogans, which could’ve easily come across as corny but she’s so darn likable it worked. I really hope Lash Legend has a stand out performance this Sunday, her storyline with Trick Williams is giving her a much bigger spotlight so this is definitely the time to make a name for herself.

In terms of the winner for this Sunday, it’s between Michin, Fallon Henley, and Sol Ruca for me. Michin is the veteran of this match, that usually doesn’t bode well for her booking but I feel like she’d be a great pick to establish a new title. Fallon and Sol are to me, the strongest options, it’s just a matter of whether WWE wants the inaugural champ to be a face or heel.

Robert Stone comes out as the segment breaks down to announce a 6 woman tag match for later tonight! Onto our next match of the night though…

Jazmyn Nyx vs. Thea Hail

Tie up to start the match between the two competitors, with Thea dominating from the get go despite not having the full support of Chase U. Nyx gets the better of Thea and takes control of the match. Not the cleanest bout but not bad by any means either, and there’s no getting better without getting reps. After a brief distraction, Nyx hits an impressive pelee kick to score the victory.

Winner: Jazmyn Nyx

Jordynne Grace is walking backstage and is approached by Mia Yim, we get a brief TNA reunion before what can only be described as a revolving door of interruptions from the entire women’s lockerroom introducing themselves to Grace. This segment was fantastic, it was not only fun to watch but gave the audience a detailed glimpse of who Jordynne Grace is and what she’s about.

Segment next hyping up Shayna vs. Lola this Sunday!

Izzi Dame vs. Natalya

Nattie two nights in a row! She’s taking it to Izzi Dame too, Karmen Petrovic is at ringside with crutches. It was confirmed that it was supposed to be Karmen vs. Izzi but Karmen is injured. Izzi takes control and get’s in some really good looking offense against Natalya. Some nice mat wrestling on display here but Izzi shows off her size and power. Nattie ain’t no slouch though, powerbomb from the corner for two! Surprisingly, Natalya scores a win over Dame with a roll up. It’d be nice for Nattie to have a pinning finisher at this point in her career whether that be transitioning the sit-out powerbomb into a finisher or potentially a bridging German Suplex.

Winner: Natalya

Lash, Kelani & Fallon vs. Michin, Jaida, & Sol

In a backstage segment Robert Stone approached General Manager Ava earlier in the night stating the tag match tonight would have a special twist to it and even though this was the simplest of changes, putting 1 face with the heel team and vice versa, it resulted in such a fun and entertaining tag match that built upon the success of the earlier segment.

These six had great chemistry throughout the match! Between the excitement of debuting a secondary title, the in ring talent and the personality we’re seeing from each of the performers, NXT last night was giving me flashbacks of the 2008 Smackdown Women’s Division. Effective booking all around with characters that are easily understood. Can’t recommend watching this match enough! Even if it’s just to see yet another interesting variation of how Sol transitions into her finisher.

Winners: Michin, Jaida & Sol Ruca

We also got an inside look for Shayna Baszler vs. Lola Vice for this Sunday in NXT Underground match.

Week is off to a great start for women’s wrestling fans after Raw on Monday and NXT last night!

Sound off in the comments on whose your pick to win the Women’s North American Championship! See ya’ll on Sunday!

Jordynne Grace Dominates In NXT Debut

0

The TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace made her in-ring NXT debut on June 4. This was history making as Grace makes the only contracted TNA talent to ever wrestle in an NXT ring. She appeared earlier this year in a WWE ring in the women’s Royal Rumble.

Grace faced and was victorious against Stevie Turner on this week’s NXT. She won with the Juggernaut Driver.

After the match, Grace’s opponent at NXT Battleground on Sunday the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez appeared in the ring. The two got into a shoving match and Grace would seemingly get the better of the interaction by pushing Perez down to the ring mat. Perez would then retreat and leave the ring.

Grace also had a backstage reunion with Michin and also ran into NXT’s Grace – Arianna. It also appears that Tatum Paxley has interest in the TNA Knockouts Title.

More NXT results to come including:

  • Jazmyn Nyx first win
  • Jacy Jayne returns
  • NXT Women’s North American Title Summit
