The Kabuki Warriors Retain; Perez Sends Valkyria To Hospital

0

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, The Kabuki Warriors, made their way to NXT this week to defend the gold. They faced NXT Women’s Champion Lura Valkyria and Tatum Paxley.

Although there were a couple of very near falls that had Valkyria and Paxley just inches away from becoming tag team champions, a miscommunication led to their demise. A roundhouse kick from Valkyria landed on Paxley instead of Kairi Sane. Sane takes advantage of the miscue and hits the InSane elbow as a result on Paxley with the help of Asuka to retain the titles.

The defeat itself wasn’t the end of the line for Valkyria. Roxanne Perez came out and attacked her from behind. She viciously threw the NXT Women’s Champion into multiple ring posts before landing her onto the bottom turnbuckle. There, Perez exposed the turnbuckle, wrapped Valkyria’s arm around the exposed steel and stomped down.

During the commercial break, Valkyria was stretchered out and placed into an ambulance to go to the hospital.

Elsewhere on NXT, things are really breaking down for the women of Chase U. Fallon Henley was seen backstage talking to Riley Osborne. They were talking about his date with Thea Hail and how it didn’t go over so well. He says he misses the energetic and full of life Thea and that she isn’t the same. Blair Davenport enters and a match is and says Hail isn’t even Osborne’s type. Ironically, Henley says how would she even know that (as Osborne and Davenport are engaged in real life).

Osborne heads out to the men’s tag team title match which had Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin defend against Chase U’s Andre Chase and Duke Hudson. Hail, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx joined Osborne at ringside. When Chase U wasn’t able to regain the titles, Hail flipped out and ran to the back.

Hail was seen backstage fighting with Kiana James and Izzi Dame. She tells Chase U about the fight and expects a tag team match next week. But Jayne says it won’t be her as Hail’s partner as she and Nyx walk away.

Gigi Dolin got a match for next week against Arianna Grace. Grace originally wanted nothing to do with her, but she had some stipulations. If she wins then Dolin has to bring out her true inner beauty and stop using foul language.

Sol Ruca Returns On NXT, Attacks Blair Davenport

0

Sol Ruca is back.

The NXT Superstar has returned to TV after being out of action for nearly a year. She was written off of TV from an attack by Blair Davenport who was the mystery attacker that also took out others such as Nikkita Lyons and Roxanne Perez.

Ruca returned to live events earlier last month, but on the March 5 episode of NXT she appeared from the crowd and took down Davenport. Davenport was in a match against Fallon Henley. Ruca tossed Davenport back in the ring for Henley to get the win.

Bianca Belair Talks Her Current Road To WrestleMania, Potential Opponents

0

Bianca Belair has found herself in a different landscape over where she has the past three years.

During WrestleMania season since 2021, Belair has either won the Royal Rumble, won the Elimination Chamber, or was already a champion heading into the biggest event of the year. This year she hasn’t won her way to a championship match and isn’t a current champion. So where will she fit on the card?

While speaking with Gorilla Position, Belair went over her current place in WWE and how heading into WrestleMania things are different. Names that were brought up to Belair as potential opponents included Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton. Cargill being the face-to-face at the Royal Rumble and Belair’s recent run-in’s with Stratton as well make them likely opponents.

Belair isn’t sure what type of match she may be given at Mania, but is always ready so she doesn’t have to get ready. She did point out how much depth the roster has now and how bright the stats are. She mentions that we could have singles matches on the Mania card without a championship even being involved. As women’s wrestling fans, we agree!

So where do you think Belair fits in this year? A singles match? A tag team match? Talk below!

Liv Morgan vs. Becky Lynch Added To March 11 Raw

Liv Morgan continues her revenge tour in an effort to get to Rhea Ripley and the Women’s World Championship.

Becky Lynch went one-on-one with Nia Jax on the March 4 episode of Raw. Much like Lynch did last week during the Jax vs. Liv Morgan match, Morgan caused a disqualification by attacking Jax. This led to a verbal altercation between Morgan and Lynch before Jax attacked them both.

Backstage, Morgan walked up to Lynch as they both traded words. They will face off next week.

Zoey Stark & Shayna Baszler Earn Women’s Tag Team Title Shot

0

On the March 4 episode of Raw, the team of Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler picked up another win to show that they are the most dominate tag team. They defeated former champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance which led to a face-to-face with Damage CTRL.

Highlights of the match include a huge double Spanish Fly done by Carter and Chance on Stark. Moments later, Carter and Chance would hit the After Party on Stark but Baszler would pull Chance off the cover and out of the ring.

Carter went after Baszler but was put into the Kirifuda Clutch in the ropes. Stark stacked up Chance for the victory.

Post match, Damage CTRL, who was sitting on the announce desk, would enter the ring. Dakota Kai stated that once The Kabuki Warriors defeat Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria this Tuesday on NXT, they will defend against Baszler and Stark next Monday.

Other tag teams were shown such as Candice LeRae/Indi Hartwell, Tegan Nox/Natalya, and Maxxine Dupri/Ivy Nile. LeRae starts showing her heel side as she is fed up with losing.

Raw Discussion Post: 03.04.24

Tonight’s Raw has Becky Lynch vs. Nia Jax confirmed.

For a preview you can click here.

Will update this more as any other matches or segments for the women are announced.

Raw Preview, March 4: Nia Jax vs. Becky Lynch

0

With WrestleMania XL just a month away, everyone is trying to find their place on the card!

Becky Lynch has found her spot as she will he facing Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Title. She won the Elimination Chamber match to earn this spot. However, certain others such as Nia Jax and Liv Morgan aren’t to happy with that.

Last week, after Jax attacked Lynch earlier in the night, Lynch repaid the attack by going after Jax in her match against Morgan. This angered Morgan who was in the middle of her match, but Lynch wants Jax one-on-one. She will get that tonight.

Outside of this, the tag team division has Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler sitting at the top as challengers who are biting at the change to get the titles off of The Kabuki Warriors.

The Kabuki Warriors will be taking a stop at NXT this week to defend against Tatum Paxley and the NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria.

What will the rest of the Raw tag teams feel about this?

Toni Storm Retains At Revolution, Mariah May Cosplays

Toni Storm is still the AEW Women’s World Champion after her victory over Deonna Purrazzo at Sunday’s Revolution.

Purrazzo has been targeting Storm since she has made her AEW debut with their history outside the company together. Storm may have retained but did get assistance from Luther and Mariah May.

Speaking of Mariah May, she would come out first cosplaying as the old punk rock Toni Storm and looked exactly like her.

The final moments of the match did include each woman applying their finishers. Luther would distract the referee as Storm tapped out but wasn’t seen. May then distracted Purrazzo, and the interference led to Storm hitting the Storm Zero for the win.

On the Zero-hour pre show, Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander defeated Skye Blue and TBS Champion Julia Hart.

Serena Deeb Says Nobody’s Challenged Her Yet, Claims To Be The Final Boss

I think Meiko Satomura would have something to say about this!!

Serena Deeb recently returned to action and since then she has continued to be undefeated. She also has boasted herself as a gatekeeper to the women’s division in AEW.

On this week’s Collision, Deeb continues to say that nobody is on her level. She invites anyone to come and step into her dojo and find out.

Serena Deeb would round out the promo calling herself “The Final Boss.”

“Not only am I undefeated, I’m undeniable, and I’m unstoppable. Putting on a clinic after clinic every single week here in AEW. Let’s be honest, nobody has really challenged me in the ring yet, and it makes sense because I am ‘The Professor of Professional Wrestling,’ ‘The Woman of 1000 Holds.’ To be honest, I don’t think the competition that I’ve faced so far would even know the difference between a wristlock and a wristwatch. So if you’re listening, if you’re watching, if you consider yourself one of the best, step into Deeb’s Dojo. Step into my home turf. Test yourself against the most elite wrestler, because I’ll be here each and every week showing the world that nobody can do what I do in the ring and why I am ‘The Final Boss.”

Although it is Satomura who calls herself the Final Boss, someone else has been known as The Boss and that is Mercedes Moné. Moné is expected to make her AEW debut on March 13.

AEW Revolution Predictions: 03.03.24

AEW is set to have their next pay-per-view event and its annual installment of Revolution on March 3. There’s two women’s matches on the card with one being on the pre-show.

Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander vs. TBS Champion Julia Hart & Skye Blue – Zero Hour Preshow

Toni Storm (c) vs. Deonna Purrazzo – AEW Women’s World Title

Below, you will find the predictions of these matches from us here at Diva Dirt.

NICK: Outside of Toni vs. Deonna it is clear that zero thought was put in for other women when it comes to this event. Not surprising but still upsetting.

Anyway, this match is fine for what it is but nothing is overly exciting about it. I guess if they are going to continue with Willow or Kris around the TBS Title they would pick up the win here, but honestly the champion should be winning this match so I am going to go with that.

WINNERS: Julia Hart and Skye Blue

COLBY: Thank god they added a second women’s match somewhere on this card as there were more than enough options with as many storylines that are ongoing. I was also hoping for something with Saraya/Ruby, but it seems that one is still simmering. Nevertheless, we’ve got Kris and Willow teaming up again as they appear to be re-entering the TBS title picture. They’ve won more tag matches together than they have lost, so it feels like the odds are good that they will keep that momentum going and get a win back after Skye beat Kris on Dynamite. I’m going with the babyfaces here whether it’s for more story development from Stokely or to get Kris a shot at Julia, or both.

WINNERS: Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale

NICK: I will give credit where it is due, this has been nicely built. The thing is, will it payoff? We see time and time again where AEW brings in a well known talent and they have a title match and then off to either ROH or shuffled so far away from the title scene it is odd. So this time, I feel Deonna NEEDS to stay on top and needs to win this.

WINNER: Deonna Purrazzo

COLBY: I honestly can say this is the most excited I have been for an AEW Women’s World title match in some time. I’ve enjoyed Toni Storm’s “Timeless” character work, but one complaint I’ve heard regularly is the belief that the gimmick doesn’t need the title. I can agree, but I will also give props to AEW for actually crafting an enticing story here between Toni and Deonna by using their real-life history and turning it up for their opposite characters. With that said, I fully welcome a title change. Deonna has proven her worth in AEW in a short time, not to mention the incredible run she had in IMPACT over the last few years. With Mercedes on the way, I say it’s time to shake things up.

WINNER: Deonna Purrazzo

Who do you have as the winners of these matches? Discuss below.

Dakota Kai Turns On Bayley; Tiffy Time Was Up For Naomi

Dakota Kai was a snake in the grass the whole time!!

On the March 1 episode of SmackDown, Kai was returning to in-ring action as she teamed with Bayley to take on The Kabuki Warriors. Bayley has been lured into a false sense of security thinking that Kai had her back, but she should’ve known better. Kai wouldn’t even enter the match as she dropped from the apron when Bayley went for the tag.

This betrayal led to Bayley fighting off the tag team champions herself but then she went right after Kai. The numbers game became way too much for Bayley as her WrestleMania opponent and the WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY joined in on the attack. The four members of Damage CTRL stood tall after picking apart their former leader.

Moments later and backstage, Damage CTRL runs into Jade Cargill with Cargill and SKY exchanging some words before Nick Aldis pulled Cargill into his office.

Tiffany Stratton continues her momentum on the main roster and as a member of SmackDown. She took out Naomi first in the Elimination Chamber and she grabbed a win against the veteran tonight.

The match heated up and was a great back and forth but could have been given more time if it wasn’t for Roman Reigns and The Rock talking for the first 40 minutes of a two hour show.

The final moments had Stratton rake the eyes of Naomi without the referee noticing. Stratton threw her shoulder first into the ring post and then hit her P.M.E. for the win.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 03.01.24

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown has two women’s matches on the show as follows:

This is planned to be the return to the ring of Dakota Kai since her ACL injury that has had her out since May.

Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton Set For March 1 SmackDown

Tonight’s SmackDown has added a second women’s match as Naomi looks for some revenge against Tiffany Stratton. Stratton pinned Naomi in the Elimination Chamber match last Saturday making her the first one eliminated.

Tiffy Time is looking to continue her momentum whole Naomi is looking to humble the newest member of the SmackDown brand.

Torrie Wilson Talks Former Ring Gear And Inspiration

WWE Hall of Famer, Torrie Wilson, sits down with McKenzie Mitchell on her YouTube page on Threads.

Wilson goes over her ring gear during her prime and where she got her inspiration as she was during a time that didn’t have as much to go on. She also went over her Hall of Fame dress, 2018 Royal Rumble gear, and her Evolution gear.

She discusses the 2018 Royal Rumble moment where she was afraid people wouldn’t remember her. Wilson got emotional at that event when fans chanted “Thank You Torrie.”

The episode with McKenzie can be watched below:

You can also watch her prior episode with Mandy Rose.

SmackDown March 1 Preview: Dakota Kai Returns To In-Ring Action

The first episode of SmackDown in March has a big match to witness!

It is planned for Dakota Kai to return to in-ring action to team with Bayley to face former Damage CTRL teammates The Kabuki Warriors. This is where Kai will show where her true allegiances lie. Kai has been out of action from an ACL injury since May.

Here’s a recap, when The Kabuki Warriors and the WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY turned on Bayley, Kai wasn’t present. When Kai showed up the following week she had a lot of explaining to do. She did so, but also showed in her actions with a steel chair in hand to keep back the three who turned on Bayley.

Moving forward, the newly formed trio version of Damage CTRL, sent a threat to Kai that they would take her out. Last week, despite no one seeing the attack take place, Damage CTRL attacked Kai in the locker room. She was taken to medical where Bayley met up with her. Bayley told her that she will have her back.

Now we will see, as we are just a month away from WrestleMania XL, how trustworthy Kai really is.

Mercedes Moné Responds To Giulia: “You Know Where To Find Me”

Could we be seeing both Mercedes Moné debut in AEW and also become an instant champion?

Perhaps.

On Thursday, Giulia made a statement to Tokyo Sports in regards to the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title. A championship that was originally designed with Moné as inaugural champion in mind. However, due to injury in that match, it was won by Willow Nightingale. Since July, Giulia has held the title since defeating Nightingale. Now, Giulia has confirmed she will be leaving STARDOM at the end of March and will be a free agent. Who will she drop the title to?

Well Giulia told Tokyo Sports the following –

“I have been thinking ever since I won the belt that I have to put this belt on the line and beat Moné to overturn this saying. I can’t tell you right now where I will go from here, but I will continue to defend this belt until I find Moné.”

Moné has since responded, saying that Giulia knows where to find her and hints that it is at AEW’s Big Business where she is expected to debut in her hometown of Boston on March 13.

“You standing on big business or u just standing around! You know where to find me Julia.”

Giulia is set to defend the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title at a STARDOM event on March 10 just days before AEW Big Business against Stephanie Vaquer.

ROH Women’s TV Title: Queen Aminata Advances To Semi-Finals

0

Queen Aminata has secured her spot in the semi-finals of the ROH Women’s TV Title Tournament. This puts her just two wins away from potentially becoming the inaugural champion. She defeated Taya Valkyrie in the quarter-finals on Thursday’s episode.

Aminata will face the winner between Leyla Hirsch and Red Velvet.

On the other side of the brackets we will still get to see match-ups between Abadon vs. Mercedes Martinez and Diamante vs. Billie Starkz. Starkz is determined to become champion and according to the ROH Women’s World Champion, she better win…or else.

Knockouts World Title Match Set For TNA Sacrifice

Tasha Steelz and Xia Brookside looked to settle their score on the February 29 episode of IMPACT, however things didn’t quite go according to plan.

Brookside showcased her offense early on with strikes, dropkicks, and a crossbody. Steelz stomped on Xia in the corner before grounding her with a headlock. Xia then hit Broken Wings (running double knees) in the corner before they spilled to the outside.

While scrapping on the floor, the referee counted to 10 and ruled the match a double count-out. They both rolled back in to confront the referee when Jordynne Grace came out to the stage.

Grace noted that both women clearly want a title shot and announced that she will defend her title against them in a three-way at TNA Sacrifice a week from Friday on March 8.

Elsewhere, we saw a mysterious vignette from Decay.

We also know that Ash By Elegance will be in action next Thursday, plus Masha Slamovich will take on Dani Luna.

  • Thunder Rosa def. Cassandra Golden

Purrazzo told Storm she was the best friend and the worst enemy, and she threatened to break her arms. They brawled. Purrazzo left Mariah May lying when she tried to save Storm.

Giulia vs. Stephanie Vaquer Set For NJPW STRONG Women’s Title – March 10

0

Giulia will defend her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship on March 10 at Korakuen Hall against Stephanie Vaquer. Vaquer is currently a double champion in CMLL where she holds the Women’s Title and the Women’s Tag Team Title for that promotion.

Giulia has held the STRONG Title since she defeated the inaugural champion Willow Nightingale back in July. Vaquer was part of the first round matches in a tournament to crown the first champion. She lost to Mercedes Moné.

Vaquer has worked in STARDOM and Japan in the past for the Ice Ribbon promotion. Giulia just recently confirmed she will be leaving STARDOM at the end of March, making her a free agent.

In other STARDOM news, they have confirmed the first round matches for the annual Cinderella Tournament.

Skye Blue Upsets Kris Statlander On AEW Dynamite

The February 28 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Kris Statlander go one-on-one with Skye Blue.

Statlander showed off her strength to start before Blue dumped her out of the ring. In response, Statlander sent her into the crowd. Back inside, Blue took control again until Statlander suplexed Blue on the apron.

Willow Nightingale and Julia Hart came face-to-face prior to Blue landing a Canadian Destroyer for a nearfall. When Stokely Hathaway attempted to get Stat to use a chain, Julia Hart capitalized off of the ref being distracted and bashed Kris with the TBS Championship. Skye then hit Code Blue to steal the win.

Looking ahead, Deonna Purrazzo and Toni Storm will appear on Saturday’s Collision just 24 hours before their AEW Women’s World title match at Revolution.

Possible Sol Ruca Vignette Airs On NXT “See You Soon”

Sol Ruca is likely on her way back to the ring. She has returned to live events recently after being out of action due to an ACL injury.

A beach vignette aired on the Feb. 27 episode with the words “See You Soon” written in the sand. A Roadblock logo then appeared as next week’s show is titled as such. Due to Ruca’s surfer gimmick, it most likely is for her.

Ruca’s last on-screen match was against Tiffany Stratton last April in a losing effort.
