Deonna Purrazzo Taps Out Taya Valkyrie On AEW Dynamite

The January 31 episode of AEW Dynamite saw former Knockouts Champions Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie cross paths once again in the squared circle. This time, Toni Storm was on commentary.

A lock up started things off before the action spilled to outside briefly. Johnny TV provided a distraction, allowing for Valkyrie to hit a spear. Deonna was also sent into the steel steps before Valkyrie nailed the sliding suplex.

“The Virtuosa” was able to make her comeback off of a Russian Legsweep and pump kick. At ringside, Purrazzo came face-to-face with Storm before she sent Valkyrie into her. Back inside, Purrazzo trapped Valkyrie in the armbar for the win.

Looking ahead, Willow Nightingale vs. Queen Aminata has been announced for this Friday’s AEW Rampage.

0

NXT’s Dani Palmer had to undergo surgery on her hip. In a post on social media, Palmer talked about the successful surgery and indicated she has to have her other hip operated on as well sometime later this year.

Jeremiah 29:11. This year so far has been chaotic…scary but BEAUTIFUL…and nothing like the plan I had in mind for 2024…but I have a peace that makes no sense because I know the author of my story. — I have to have a double hip surgery this year, and God is great because I knocked the first one out this morning and it went fantastic! Thank you everyone for all the prayers.”

Palmer was last seen on TV in November on NXT Level Up where she lost to Tatum Paxley. She appeared ar a live event for a Batte Royal earlier this month which was won by Lash Legend.

Chelsea Green Talks Rumble Gear, Wants To Be A LGBTQ+ Vocal Supporter

0

Chelsea Green made a huge statement during her entrance of this past weekend’s Royal Rumble match. Her entrance included the LGBTQ Rainbow Flag on the back. She made sure to turn around and show everyone her support.

Why was this so significant?

The Royal Rumble took place in the Tampa Bay area, more specifically St. Petersburg, Florida. Over the past year, Florida saw a slew of Anti-LGBTQ bills put forward. These included Extreme Gender Affirming Care Ban, the Anti-Trans Bathroom Bill, and the most talked about Don’t Say Gay Bill.

In an interview with Steve Fall of WrestlingNewsCo, Green explains her gear and how she wanted it to not only be put in people’s faces, but wanted to show uo as a front line supporter. With Sonya Deville, with Piper Niven, and all the other women in WWE that are in the community.

”I don’t want to be just a quiet supporter of the community.”

Green’s tag team partner Piper Niven, who came out as bisexual in 2019, also had a rainbow gear in mind, but it arrived late

Naomi Has Grand Slam Champion In Her Plans

0

Naomi has made her return to WWE and with that comes additional experience outside the company from TNA. She returned at the Royal Rumble, entered at number two, and made a huge impression lasting to the final six with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 18 seconds.

While on this week’s episode of WWE’s The Bump, Naomi talked about not having to prove herself anymore as she has done that. She now has a goal of being a Grand Slam Champion.

“I think it’s just everything that’s happened in almost these past two years, and for me to still know that I matter, know my value, know my worth, and just what I’ve done in TNA. There’s no doubt anymore. There’s nothing else for me to question about my talent, about my capabilities, about the star power I have. I’ve proven it. So now, I gotta just do it this go-around in the WWE in a way bigger way than I’ve ever done before. But the challenge this time is that, though I’ve been around, I’m back again, but now it’s like starting all the way over and back at the bottom, but I’m looking forward to that challenge and working my way back up to go against the best of the best. My goal is to be a Grand Slam Champion, and that’s what my focus is. In order to get there, that’s that’s gonna take a lot of work, but that’s the mission that I’m on,” Naomi said. (Fightful)

Naomi is a former two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. She would have to win the WWE Women’s Championship (formerly Raw) and the NXT Women’s Title to meet her goal.

It was recently reportedly that Naomi will likely join the SmackDown roster.

Taylor Wilde Talks Stepping Away From The Ring

Former Knockouts World Tag Team Champion Taylor Wilde discusses her future when it comes to wrestling.

The talent returned from a 10 year first retirement in 2021. The returned garnered a lot of attention when she was back in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling. In that returned she capture the tag team titles for a third time in her career, this time with KiLynn King known together as The Coven.

Wilde has not had a match since the August 3, 2023 episode of IMPACT when she teamed with King to defeat Deonna Purrazzo & Trinity.

While speaking on her own podcast Wilde On, during an interview with Brian Cage,, she explained why she’s stepped away from wrestling.

“Wrestling is put on the shelf for me, again. I went through a ton of shit. I haven’t even publicly spoken about this. I went through a lot in my personal life. I touched on the custody battle and the divorce.

My dad had a heart attack and first responders did CPR on him for almost an hour. He made it, but it was eight months in the hospital. He was in the ICU, he almost died a couple of times, he got COVID, he had to have a tracheotomy, but he’s home and independently living. That was beautiful. The custody battle and divorce got nastier at that time and affected my work life, both wrestling and as a firefighter. I moved in with my sister and now late brother-in-law during that time. Almost a year to the day that my dad had a heart attack, my brother-in-law had a freak accident happen and passed at 37. That left my 32-year-old sister and my then-two-year-old niece without a dad. With everything I had already been through, I thought, I better take a break. I was going to take a leave from firefighting, just do my podcast and be on the road full-time. What people don’t know is that when I came back to wrestling,

I was bringing my son on the road with me full-time. That’s two 12-hour TV days with TNA, and then I was still doing my podcast, working full-time as a firefighter. I think, when I walked away from everything and was just going to focus on wrestling, my body pooped out on me. I had a neurological emergency that scared me enough to where I thought, ‘If this is any correlation to wrestling, then that’s it for me.’ I was going to give wrestling my all this past year and after everything I had been through, whether it was stress, the COVID vaccine, or it was going to happen to me anyway. My body gave out on me and so wrestling is on the shelf for me right now.”

After being asked by Cage if she intends to wrestle in the future, she states –

What happened to me was so scary and so forever changing, that I’m still not…I’ve been medically cleared if I ever change my mind, but my life is not 100 percent yet; they take certain privileges away from you if these things happen. Being a mom and recovering from all the emotional things that went on for two years, my life focus has changed.

My self-worth was always wrapped up in producing: Wrestling, being a firefighter, being the best mom, doing, doing, doing, and maybe not dealing with emotional pain that, now that that all got wiped from me, my happiness stems from having a family. I met the love of my life during this and I just love family life. I would have loved to stay involved with IMPACT. Just because it may have been wrestling on the shelf, I would have loved to stay in a manager role. The Coven was my baby. I wrote that shit. Being a witch on screen was everything I dreamed of in the 90s. All that shit is really who I am. Producing backstage, participating creatively, commentary, I would have loved to stayed. I guess, the way the company goes, right time and right place, it didn’t end up staying that way. I’m living in the world that I always am, which is, I don’t know. I retired at 25 and then I came back ten years later. I don’t know.” (Fightful)

Diva Dirt sends out our well wishes to Taylor as she moves forward.

Roxanne Perez Picks Up Win Ahead Of Vengeance Day; Chase U Gets Saved

0

Roxanne Perez is going into Vengeance Day with a victory over Tatum Paxley. Paxley has been trying to do everything she can in order to protect the NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria. Even though Valkyria has made it very clear she doesn’t want Paxley’s help or to have her involved.

Jordynne Grace Talks Royal Rumble, Building Bridge With WWE

0

Whether or not you read the rumors the day of the Royal Rumble or not, having the TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace appear was a sight to see. Especially if you are a fan of both promotions.

TNA posted an exclusive video of Grace and the moment she got the call.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful sat down and spoke more with Grace about everything that happened. He also asked about the pressure of Grace representing the building of a bridge between TNA and WWE.

It is an insane amount of pressure. There is nothing I can really say about it besides that. It’s so much pressure, not just to perform well in the ring, but to establish relationships backstage, positive relationships. Sometimes, a lot of times, that it much harder than actually going out there and wrestling. I feel extremely blessed that they trusted me enough to go on and do that. Hopefully, I just made TNA proud,” she said.

When asked if she knew about anything else coming up between the two companies she stated –

“I have no personal insight or anything, but I have a very good gut feeling. I feel like it’s a win-win for everybody. There is nothing bad that can come from a relationship between TNA and WWE. TNA gets exposure and ability to represent their brand. WWE gets to do something awesome for the wrestling community.”

Nia Jax Attacks Rhea Ripley, Bayley To Pick Mania Opponent On SmackDown

0

If Nia Jax has anything to say about it, the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will not be making it to WrestleMania. This should make Bayley’s WrestleMania choice even easier.

On the Raw after Royal Rumble, the rumble winner Bayley joined the rest of Damage CTRL in the ring. When it seemed like she was going to confirm who she was going to pick for Mania, Rhea Ripley’s music hit. Ripley made her way out and said that the only reason that Bayley beat her time in the rumble is because she wasn’t in it herself. Ripley then stated that she sees the rest of Damage CTRL has gold and it will stay that way even after Mania. Jax then attacked Ripley from behind.

As Jax and Ripley enter the ring, Damage CTRL backs into the corner to watch. Jax delievered three leg drops before the annihilator took out the champion. As the rest of Damage CTRL drop out of the ring leaving Bayley by herself, Jax warns Bayley that she can pick IYO SKY or anyone else but Ripley won’t be making it to Mania.

Bayley states she will make her choice on SmackDown.
