Rhea Ripley Reaches 300 Days As Women’s World Champion

0

Rhea Ripley has reached 300 days as the Women’s World Champion. Despite some criticism for her reign, Ripley has managed to make her way up the ladder and is currently the third longest woman to hold the gold.

https://youtu.be/6lT9DIey1Ts?si=YtJg5LcrEyXGuLIb

Formerly the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Ripley won the title off of Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 in a match of the year contender. Since winning the gold, she has remained a prominent and very obviously the leader of Judgment Day.

While being champion, Ripley has successfully defended the belt against: Natalya, Zelina Vega, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark, and most recently, Ivy Nile.

Currently, Ripley is likely heading into WrestleMania 40 still as champion. With a stop at Elimination Chamber in her home country of Australia first, it won’t be likely she drops the championship there. Many eyes are on her for WrestleMania including Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Nia Jax.

Ripley is behind Charlotte Flair in combined days who has 479 days and Bayley who is first with 519. We also have Bayley as the longest single reign at 379 days.

Jordynne Grace Defeats Trinity, MK Ultra Sends A Message On IMPACT

The January 25 episode of TNA iMPACT featured Jordynne Grace defending the TNA Knockouts World Championship against Trinity in a rematch from Hard To Kill.

Trinity dictated the pace at the start until the action spilled out of the ring and Grace soon took control. Trinity managed to spike Grac into the mat, but Grace would then hit Trinity with the Juggernaut Jackhammer for a nearfall.

Grace put Trinity up top for the Muscle Buster but Trinity kicked her away and hit a sunset bomb into a cover. They traded covers back and forth until Grace stacked on Trinity for the three to retain.

After, Savannah Evans and Gisele Shaw attacked both women and stood tall with Shaw’s X in hand.

Later on, former champs MK Ultra battled the duo of Dani Luna and Jody Threat. Masha Slamovich was double teamed early on until Killer Kelly was able to get the tag. Threat hit her with a flurry of offense until Kelly sent her crashing from the top. Masha returned and helped Kelly hit their double knees and double piledriver finisher on Threat for the win.

Afterward, MK Ultra hit their finish on Luna as well to send a message.

We also saw new vignettes for Ash By Elegance and Decay.

Bianca Belair Talks Heel vs. Face, Admires Bayley’s Heel Work

0

Bianca Belair has been steadfast as a babyface since joining the WWE main roster in 2020. Prior to that she did have a heel run in NXT that some fans would like to see her showcase once again.

Belair along with her husband and fellow WWE Superstar Montez Ford sat down with Ariel Helwani promoting their upcoming reality series on Hulu. While speaking, Belair discusses the differences she feels from working as a face or heel and her admiration of Bayley.

I love being a good guy, I love being a babyface because it puts purpose to what I do. I feel like it has a bigger impact and I’m able to do stuff with the community and it’s very purposeful and inspirational and impactful. That being said, when I was a heel in NXT, it was so much fun. I feel like being a heel is a lot easier. It’s a lot easier to get people to not like you than to get people to like you and keep liking you and keeping it fresh. When you’re a babyface, in order for me to have the attitude and come back, I have to have somebody who provokes me. They have to bring it out of me. I need like a Bayley who brings it out of me, otherwise I end up looking like a heel.

A heel is a lot of fun, you’re not in a box, you can do whatever you want to do. I feel like I do have more attitude. At the same time, at NXT, I was a heel, but if I ever turned heel now, I want to be the right type of heel. I was the cool heel in NXT, which I don’t feel like benefitted anyone but myself. I got myself over. If I’m in there with a babyface that’s not as established, it’s very hard for them. I learned when I got to the main roster how great it is to work with an amazing heel like Bayley when I first came in. The reason why I think I hit the ground running, as a good guy, was I had this amazing heel who was established and over. She helped introduce me to the audience and helped people get to know me and care about me. That’s what I want to do if I ever turn heel, so I won’t be the heel you like and cheer for,”she said. (Fightful)

Belair and Bayley have had many matches and feuds with each other over the past couple of years.

Would you like to see Belair as a heel again?

Ranking Royal Rumble Matches Final Four

The 2024 Royal Rumble is just a few days away and soon we will have another woman added to the list of past winners. That is of course unless we get our first two time winner!

It is hard to believe we have had six prior women rumble matches already in history. Now that we have enough under our belt, below is Diva Dirt’s rankings of the Final Four. We’ll start from the worst to the best.

2022 – Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair

The final four of the 2022 Rumble match just took the wind out of many fans sails when Ronda Rousey returned and won it all. After being gone from the company for well over two years, Rousey came back at number 28 and cleaned house. A lot of the lack of care for Rousey’s return was how she left with a negative cloud as she stepped away from the ring.

The final four wasn’t fresh either. Bianca had just won the prior year, and Charlotte won in 2020 and has been in the final four multiple times before. Charlotte was also the SmackDown Women’s Champion at this time, so her even being in the match made zero sense.

This is by fat the worst final four.

2020 – Charlotte Flair, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Beth Phoenix

It is important to note that the rest on this list weren’t “bad” by any means. However, with the following being better this one lands here on the list.

The positives of this final four was the storytelling. Between Charlotte and Shayna on one end and Natalya and Beth on the other. Beth lasting to the final four despite having her head busted open was admirable. Beth also obtained revenge on Natalya from their prior Rumble match together as she tossed Natalya over the top rope to eliminate her.

Beth making it to the final four was great for a legend. Only thing that I feel is a downside is that Charlotte did not need to win this. Shayna should have. I feel Charlotte could have won it later in her career.

2021 – Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, Rhea Ripley

The main reason this is above 2020 is because of who the final two were plus the winner. Bianca winning was a pretty big deal here for many reasons and there were a lot of doubters that it was going to happen.

The final two being Bianca and Rhea also seemed very fresh. They had great chemistry throughout the match and eliminating Charlotte together was a fun spot. For this Rumble being without live fans it was pretty memorable.

2023 – Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Asuka, Nikki Cross

If it wasn’t for Nikki Cross being in this final four it would have been higher. And no disrespect for Nikki, but it just didn’t make sense. The other three really cooked for this final four though.

The final sequence was so good and probably the best on this list. Liv being misted, Rhea eliminating Asuka, and then taking advantage of a blinded Liv.

Plus, having Rhea and Liv start as the final two and lasting tot he final two was fun.

2019 – Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Bayley

This final four was so good and despite how most felt of this Rumble as a whole saved it. Becky not originally being in the Rumble and taking Lana’s spot certainly gave away who the winner would be. However, the history between the fibal four was great here and also the closest we got to a final four horsewoman moment.

Nia certainly had purpose in this final four, but just think if it was Sasha instead.

2018 – Asuka, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Sasha Banks

Nostalgia wins in the end. Although this result was rathe expected due to Asuka’s undefeated streak, it was still so memorable. The Bella Twins being in the final four seemed correct and the turn from Nikki on Brie was a great pop from the crowd.

Sasha lasting from the number one position to the final four and nearly for an hour seemed very correct. If it wasn’t for Asuka’s undefeated streak this one should have gone to Sasha in retrospect.

A final four that will be hard to beat.

Who do we all think will be the final four this year? And do you think it could top this list? Discuss below.

Report: New Lawsuit Filed On Vince McMahon For Alleged Sex Trafficking Former Staff Member

0

*Please note, Trigger Warning, this article contains details and specifics on sexual abuse/rape*

The Wall Street Journal has just reported a new lawsuit that was filed Thursday against Vince McMahon, the company, and a former executive of sex trafficking.

The lawsuit comes from Janel Grant, a former employee at WWE’s headquarters.

Per The Wall Street Journal:

“In a lawsuit filed Thursday that she (Grant) was abused and sexually exploited by McMahon while he was chief executive. She alleged that McMahon lured her with promises of career advancement, and then he allegedly exploited her and trafficked her to other men inside the company.”

“Grant reportedly signed a nondisclosure agreement in 2022 in which McMahon agreed to pay $3 million for her to not discuss their relationship or to disparage him. Grant’s lawsuit claims McMahon stopped making payments under the 2022 deal after the initial $1 million installment. The suit seeks to void the agreement and unspecified financial damages.”

Statement from Janel Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis

“Today’s complaint seeks to hold accountable two WWE executives who sexually assaulted and trafficked Plaintiff Janel Grant, as well as the organization that facilitated or turned a blind eye to the abuse and then swept it under the rug.”

“She is an incredibly private and courageous person who has suffered deeply at the hands of Mr. McMahon and Mr. Laurinaitis. Ms. Grant hopes that her lawsuit will prevent other women from being victimized. The organization is well aware of Mr. McMahon’s history of depraved behavior, and it’s time that they take responsibility for the misconduct of its leadership.”

More from the lawsuit report, trigger warning, sexual assault/rape:

“Notably, McMahon was most aggressive when using the certain sex toys named after male WWE wrestlers and performers. McMahon named the sex toys so that the color of the toy matched the race of the wrestler—for example, a black “dildo” would be named after an African American wrestler and a white “dildo” would be named after a Caucasian wrestler. In addition to McMahon’s infatuation with pretending that other men (and, namely, certain WWE talent) were in the room with them, this was yet another incremental step in desensitizing Ms. Grant to his fantasy, and eventual demands that she perform sexual acts for and/or have sexual contact with others within WWE.

As one example of McMahon’s extreme depravity, on May 9, 2020, he defecated on Ms. Grant during a threesome, and then commanded her to continue pleasuring his “friend”— with feces in her hair and running down her back—while McMahon went to the bathroom to shower off. Upon his return from the bathroom, McMahon and his “friend” actively resumed the threesome, which lasted over an hour and a half, while Ms. Grant remained covered in McMahon’s filth. When McMahon’s “friend” left, McMahon ordered her to stay and to continue to sexually gratify him.

In June 2021, McMahon and Defendant Laurinaitis sexually assaulted Ms. Grant inside Laurinaitis’ office in WWE headquarters while colleagues were busy at their desks. Behind a locked door, the two men cornered her and pulled her in between them, forcibly touched her, before ultimately putting her on top of a table in between them. She begged them to stop, but they forced themselves on her, each taking turns restraining her for the other, while saying “No means yes” and “Take it, bitch.”

In March 2020, McMahon began sharing sexually explicit photographs and videos of Ms. Grant (including pornographic content he recorded) with other men both inside and outside the company, including with members of the television production “tech” team, executive(s), producer(s), and a world-famous athlete and former UFC Heavyweight Champion with whom WWE was actively trying to sign to a new contract (and ultimately did sign that contract).

During the May 18, 2019, encounter, Ms. Grant felt coerced into engaging in sexual activity and that McMahon had trapped her an impossible situation, as she feared adverse career and personal consequences and legal retaliation if she declined his advances. McMahon stated, “This is what I have been waiting for” as he performed oral sex on Ms. Grant. Ms. Grant asked that protection be used, and McMahon responded that there was no need to worry because he was “clean.” Feeling that she was being used for his gratification, Ms. Grant went numb and was unable to make eye contact. McMahon then flipped on his back and said, “Okay, jack ’em off.”

On March 26, 2020, McMahon sent a lengthy message to Ms. Grant describing in detail the circumstances surrounding sharing explicit photographs of Ms. Grant to a former WWE referee (referred to herein as “WWE Referee”). McMahon described how WWE Referee left to masturbate and told Ms. Grant she had made a perfect stranger very happy.

McMahon became the most important figure in Ms. Grant’s life as he meticulously asserted power and control over almost every aspect of it. Ms. Grant’s fears intensified over the consequences that could result from McMahon’s actions, particularly by sharing her naked pictures. She became paranoid, completely dependent on and worshipfully devoted to McMahon.

Purrazzo Puts Storm On Notice, Serena Deeb’s Return Set For Collision

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a notable sit-down interview, plus Thunder Rosa in action.

During the first hour, Renee Young conducted a sit-down interview with AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm and Deonna Purrazzo in front of the live audience. Storm started off by recalling Purrazzo being recently body-shamed, however there are far more shameful things about Purrazzo.

Storm added that if Purrazzo does clash with her, she’ll “twist her lips so hard she’ll need an epidural.” Purrazzo said she has no problem earning the title match and will do it arm by arm. However, she feels like the current version of Storm is a sham, and she wants the version she trained with and welcomed into her home. That’s the version she wants to beat the gold.

Deonna calls Toni out for having matching tattoos on their ankles. Storm then said she could take her tattoo and “blow it out of your butthole.” Storm threw her shoe and Deonna threw it back before she went for the armbar. Storm was able to slip through and run to the back with Mariah May, but Purrazzo grabbed the title and held it up.

Taya Valkyrie reintroduced herself and Johnny TV backstage. Taya accused Purrazzo of cutting the line and challenged her to a match on Dynamite next week.

Later on, Thunder Rosa returned to competition on Dynamite as she battled Red Velvet for the first time.

Rosa started with a Gator Roll before Velvet took control. Rosa made her comeback with a running dropkick into the ropes before another shotgun dropkick allowed her to nail the Tijuana Bomb for the win.

Looking ahead, Ruby Soho vs. Anna Jay is set for Rampage, while Serena Deeb makes her in-ring return for the first time since October 2022 on Saturday’s Collision. Mariah May vs. Lady Frost has also been booked for Saturday.

Two Names Possible For 2024 Royal Rumble Match

*Please note this article could contain spoilers for entrants in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match*

Currently the field for the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match is wide open as only four women have been confirmed for the anticipated match. We have had Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, Bayley, and Bianca Belair all state they will be in it. With the first three staring right at the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley if they win.

With the women’s roster bigger than it has ever been, it is likely most of those on the main roster will fill up the remaining 26 spots. However, what about any returns or surprises?

According to PWInsider Elite, we could be seeing Sonya Deville. Deville has been out of action since late July when she had an ACL injury in a tag team match. This was shortly after winning her first championship in WWE, the tag titles with Chelsea Green. The report states that Deville is expected to be at the Rumble. She has been at the WWE Performance Center recently training and is expected to be part of the match

If this news is accurate then Deville would be returning a lot sooner than most ACL injuries. As the expected time out is nine months to a year.

Also being rumored to appear in the Rumble match is Jade Cargill. Cargill signed with WWE in September and had made appearances on each brand. Coming face-to-face with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair while watching Lynch’s match against Lyra Valkyria at Halloween Havoc where Lynch dropped the NXT Women’s Title. We have not seen Cargill since then and both she and Triple H have stated she will debut once ready.

Cargill is expected to be at the Royal Rumble.

Lyra Valkyria And Roxanne Perez Contract Signing Leads To An Unprovoked Attack

0

Tatum Paxley certainly has the NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria’s back, even for no reason.

The ending segment of the Jan. 23 episode of NXT was a contract signing between Valkyria and her Vengeance Day challenger Roxanne Perez. Earlier in the night in the women’s locker room, Valkyria was getting ready for her contract signing. Paxley appeared and said how great of a team they made. Valkyria tried to make her understand that it was a one time deal and that she doesn’t have the time to answer all of Paxley’s calls, texts, and emails. The champion clarified that all of her attention needs to be on Perez right now, a point she thought that Paxley understood.

The contract signing showed mutual respect between the two competitors, however, Perez is determined to become champion again. A championship she doesn’t consider that she lost as it was a six woman ladder match last year. Speaking of last year, Perez was champion this time last year when Valkyria made her NXT debut. So in a way it is a full circle moment.

Ava, as the new General Manager of NXT, conducted the signing, got her signature and wished the ladies good luck as she exited the ring. Valkyria and Perez shook hands which should have been the end. But as Valkyria was leaving the ring, Paxley crawled out from under the contract signing table and caught Perez by surprise by throwing her through the table.

Valkyria was horrified as this was not what she wanted or asked for. Paxley thought she did the right thing as NXT went off the air.

There were two matches on this week’s show.

  • Lash Legend def. Wren Sinclair
  • Blair Davenport def. Karmen Petrovic

Both matches stemmed from what happened in last week’s Battle Royal. Legend would defeat the newcomer Sinclair who was really nervous about her singles debut. Backstage before the match, Fallon Henley would attempt to calm her down and give her some confidence.

After Legend picked up the win, all of Meta-Four would corner Sinclair in the ring until Henley made the save.

Lola Vice would be the guest on Noam Dar’s Supernova Sessions. Vice basically stated that her “friendship” with Elektra Lopez and that Lopez was nothing before she hooked herself to Vice. Lopez, who had been looking for Vice all show, has heard enough. She made her way out to the ring and collected up Vice. It turned into a brawl as Lopez launched into Vice landing into the couch that was set up in the ring.

The two will go one-on-one next week.

Six-Person Tag Team Match Added To NXT Vengeance Day

0

After what has gone down the past couple weeks, a six-person tag team match has been added to NXT’s Vengeance Day on Sunday, Feb. 4. We will see The Family (Adrianna Rizzo, Channing Stacks Lorenzo, and Tony D’Angelo) take on OTM (Jaida Parker, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price).

On the Jan. 23 episode of NXT, OTM was shown crashing into The Family’s restaurant looking for Stacks and D’Angelo. Who they found was Rizzo who took a beating from Parker as the others trashed the place.

Later in the night, The Family were shown in a vehicle heading to the arena to seek revenge on OTM. They appeared during the SCRYPTS vs. Dragon Lee match to even the odds. Parker and Rizzo fought in the ring during the men’s match with Rizzo eventually launching herself with a suicide dive onto Parker on the outside. The distraction would cause SCRYPTS to lose to Lee.

Vengeance Day – Feb. 4

  • The Family (Adrianna Rizzo, Channing Stacks Lorenzo, and Tony D’Angelo) vs. OTM (Jaida Parker, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price)
  • Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Roxanne Perez – NXT Women’s Title

Ava Officially Made NXT’s General Manager

0

Ava is officially NXT’s General Manager making her the youngest General Manager in WWE history at the age of 22

Ava has been helping deliver the matches and news to NXT talent through Shawn Michaels for the past couple of months. On the Jan. 23 episode of NXT, the power has shifted fully to Ava.

Ava was seen coming out of Shawn Michaels office saying the meeting was very productive. William Regal followed announcing as the new GM and congratulated her. He gave her some advice and asked her to take care of the brand.

Thunder Rosa vs. Red Velvet Added To Jan. 24 Dynamite

A women’s match has been added to this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. Thunder Rosa will try and continue her winning ways since returning from injury. She defeated Queen Aminata last Saturday on Collision but now she is set to face Red Velvet.

After her first singles victory since her return, Rosa was fired up about making her way back up to the top.

Also, already confirmed for Dynamite was the face-to-face interview between the AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm and Deonna Purrazzo.

NXT Discussion Post: 01.23.24

Bayley Appears On Raw, Brawls With Lynch & Jax

0

Bayley says that she will be the winner of the Royal Rumble this Saturday.

The segment started with Nia Jax in the ring. She was interrupted by Becky Lynch who would continue to insult Jax and tell her that she has the biggest target on her back in the Rumble.

Bayley’s music would hit as she made her way out. She would greet her old friends and say long time no see to Jax. Bayley called them both losers and that it would he her that wins the Royal Rumble. She then attacked Lynch before Jax got involved.

Lynch landed the ManHandle Slam on Bayley before Jax tossed The Man over the top rope.

Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark def. Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae

According to Variety, “exactly where Raw will air between the end of that deal and the beginning of the Netflix deal is still being determined.”

Raw has been airing on the USA Network since 2005.

Raw Discussion Post: 01.22.24

Tonight’s Raw is the last Raw before the Royal Rumble this Saturday. With that in mind, there has been major tension between the Women’s World Champion, Nia Jax, and Becky Lynch. Jax and Lynch have confirmed that they will be in the Rumble and both seem to want Ripley of they win.

A match that is scheduled for tonight is between Ivy Nile and Valhalla. Valhalla attacked Maxxine Durpi last week much to the anger of Nile. So Nile requested this match against Valhalla.

Lash Legend vs. Wren Sinclair Added To Jan. 23 NXT

0

Following last week’s number one contender match where Lash Legend was eliminated by newcomer Wren Sinclair we have ourselves a follow up match. The two will go one-on-one on this week’s episode of NXT.

It was down to the final six in the Battle Royal when Sinclair was able to get Legend over the top rope. Every woman was trying to get doen to the final four which resulted in a Fatal four-way match. The match was won by Roxanne Perez. This was Sinclair’s first appearance in a TV match since her signing.

0

Tenille Dashwood, or Emma in WWE, recently had a virtual signing with Captain’s Corner and leaned into making a return to the ring.

When asked where her next steps were and where fans can see her –

“Lots of, like you said, exciting times now because anything is possible. So one thing I will say is, I miss wrestling. So I will be thinking on what the next steps are for that and where you might see me next,” she said.

Dashwood was released by WWE last year after returning for brief period. Prior to that she spent several years with IMPACT wrestling. She did speaking recently on wanting to spend time traveling with her fiancé and former WWE Superstar Riddick Moss. You can watch that from last month below.

Shotzi Would Like To Enter The Royal Rumble At Number One

0

It comes to no surprise that the daredevil herself, Shotzi, would want to be entrant number one in the Royal Rumble match.

While speaking with Jimmy Varsallone of the Miami Herald, Shotzi had the following to say about the upcoming Rumble match.

Number one! Number one. I want to be the longest surviving and win it that way. I am a workhorse and I want to prove myself. The best way to prove yourself is to come in number one and still win. I want to be there the longest. I don’t want any shortcuts. I want to work for my win.” (Fightful)

The only woman to win from the number one spot so far was last year’s winner Rhea Ripley.

She went on to talk about new gear she will be sporting as well, “Of course, I have some new gear for the Rumble and a new entrance jacket. That is a must. My husband does a lot of my entrance jackets. Whatever you see me wearing for the Rumble, he designed it.”

You can watch the full interview below.
