Hikaru Shida Earns AEW Women’s Title Shot

Hikaru Shida is the new number one contender for Saraya’s AEW Women’s World Title. Shida defeated Ruby Soho on the Sept. 29 episode of Rampage. The title match will take place on Oct. 10.

The match came to an end when the referee got knocked out of the ring. Soho tried to use a spray can on Shida. Shida followed up with a kendo stick to Soho. Aubrey Edwards rushed out to make the count.

Julia Hart will be in action on the Sept. 30 episode of Collision. This will be her last match before facing Kris Statlander on Sunday’s WrestleDream for the TBS Championship.

Triple Threat Set For The WWE Women’s Title At Fastlane

0

It has been confirmed that IYO SKY will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against both Asuka and Charlotte Flair at Fastlane. The event is set to take place one week from Saturday on Oct. 7.

Ahead of this announcement, Flair took to Bayley on the Sept. 29 episode of SmackDown. Prior to the match, Flair told Bayley she has become the stepping stone while Flair herself has remained the measuring stick.

The match itself ended when Flair hit Bayley with a spear out of nowhere to get the win. Damage CTRL would target Flair as Asuka’s music hits. Asuka comes out and speaks before Bayley takes that as a challenge. So she says that SKY will defend her title at Fastlane against both Flair and Asuka.

Also on SmackDown we saw Michin get physical with a big slap to Jimmy Uso. Later on, Jimmy attacks Ashante “Thee” Adonis while B-Fab yells in the background.

An announcement was officially made on WWE TV of Jade Cargill’s signing. Michael Cole referred to her as one of the biggest signings in recent memory. The social media post of Cargill arriving to the WWE Performance Center has over 20 million views.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 09.29.23

Tonight’s SmackDown has an advertised match between Bayley and Charlotte Flair.

Last week, both women were at ringside for IYO SKY vs Asuka for the WWE Women’s Title. When Bayley interfered, Flair was there to take her out. SKY would end up retaining, but Bayley and Flair now will do battle tonight.

Mickie James Challenges Trinity To Title Bout At Bound For Glory

The September 28 episode of IMPACT was headlined by Gisele Shaw battling Knockouts World Champion Trinity in a non-title bout.

Trinity started the match off hot by dominating her former rival. She hit the splits and a hurricanrana before Shaw rolled out to regroup. On the outside, Trinity went for another headscissors off the apron, but Shaw caught her and swung her into the steps.

From there, Shaw took control and picked the champ apart by stomping on her a few times. Trinity’s comeback started with a kick that was followed by a ton of slaps and strikes to set up a Samoan Drop.

Shaw came back with Shock and Awe, but Trinity followed it with a facebuster from the apron. Savannah Evans stepped up on the apron, which then set up Jai Vidal tripping Shaw after thinking it would be Trinity approaching. Trinity then capitalized by planting Shaw into the mat and tapping her out with Starstruck.

After, Evans attacked Trinity until Mickie James made the save. James got on the mic and praised Trinity. She got emotional when recalling how Trinity had a “glow up” and won the title while James was out injured. However, Mickie has never faced Trinity and she’s owed a rematch. As a result, James has officially challenged Trinity to a Knockouts title bout at Bound For Glory.

Earlier in a backstage segment, Tasha Steelz discussed her in-ring return before Deonna Purrazzo walked up. After a brief back and forth, the two agreed to watch each other’s backs.

Next week’s show will feature Jordynne Grace opposing Jody Threat and KiLynn King in a 10-person tag bout to preview the upcoming Call Your Shot gauntlet. The winning squad will then face each other to determine the #1 and #20 entries. Plus, Tasha Steelz will face Killer Kelly.

NXT Deadline Confirmed For Dec. 9

0

WWE has confirmed that NXT will host the Deadline once again. This time it will be in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Dec. 9.

This will be the second year of the Deadline event. Last year, the event introduced the Iron Survivor Challenge which was won by Roxanne Perez. From this win she went on to become the NXT Women’s Champion.

At this time, there’s been no announcement of the Iron Survivor Challenge returning, but the poster of the event alludes to it.

NXT’s next premium live event is No Mercy taking place this Saturday. Becky Lynch will be defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Tiffany Stratton in an Extreme Rules match. Kelani Jordan will also be taking on Blair Davenport.

Becky Lynch Talks Lack Of TV Time For WWE Women Talent

0

The NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is saying the quiet part out loud – where’s the TV time for the women?

In an interview with the New York Post, Lynch had the following to say –

“I need people to come up,” she said. “I need people on this level. But if nobody’s getting any TV time. If nobody’s getting any storytime then they can’t rise up because nobody knows who the hell they are.”

When asked which women does she feel can be lifted up, she names Zoey Stark, Indi Hartwell, Xia Li, and Candice LeRae. Lynch has worked with Stark this year and out of the names on this list, Stark is the only one getting weekly TV time.

Lynch adds, “Currently, we are a little light on women with credibility on Raw. So anyway I can give these women, who are great, credibility, give them a match, give them an outing and showcase them in a championship match, I think that only benefits everybody. It benefits the audience because we have more women that we care about and more women that I can beat.”

Lynch recently started a storyline with Tegan Nox. A talent who had not been seen on TV for months.

Julia Hart Pins Willow Nightingale Ahead Of AEW WrestleDream

The last Dynamite before AEW WrestleDream featured Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart. The bout was originally scheduled for last week’s Collision, but Hart ended up beating Kiera Hogan after Nightingale was attacked backstage.

This time, Nightingale sported a head wrap that covered up her blackened eye from Hart’s mist. It was enough to motivate Willow to show off her aggressive side for the first part of the bout. But once they spilled to the outside and Nightingale came face to face with Brody King, Hart chop-blocked the back of Willow’s knee in order to take control.

After the commercial, Hart trapped Willow in Hartless, but Willow was close enough to the bottom rope to break it.

Willow then came back with the pounce and drove Hart into the corner. She went for the cannonball, but Hart moved. Hart then landed a moonsault and pinned Willow for the win going into WrestleDream.

After, Julia applied Hartless again until Statlander ran down to make the save. Hart put Brody King in between them as they wait to clash for the TBS Championship this Sunday.

As of this writing, no women’s matches were announced for Rampage or Collision.

Kelani Jordan Challenges Blair Davenport At No Mercy

0

On the Sept. 26 episode of NXT, Blair Davenport was supposed to face Gigi Dolin in a match. This never took place because Davenport jumped Dolin in the women’s locker room which made her unable to compete.

In a WWE Digital Exclusive, Kelani Jordan was being interviewed by Kelly Kincaid in regards to the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament. The tournament starts next week and we now know that Jordan will be a part of it along with Lola Vice and Dani Palmer. The full brackets get revealed this Saturday at No Mercy.

Jordan says she is one week away from the most important match of her life but she is upset and angry as the past few days have been hard. So she is turning that anger towards Davenport. She saw what she did to Dolin and now she wants a fight with Davenport at No Mercy.

A match did take place this week as Thea Hail unveiled her new look in a victory over Dani Palmer. Hail won with the Kimura. She received a new entrance tron and music and was of course accompanied by Jacy Jayne.

Backstage News On Serena Deeb Being Off AEW TV

Serena Deeb has not had a match on AEW TV in nearly a year. Her last match was an Elevation match on Oct. 18 taping from 2022. So what has been going on?

There have been two different sides to the story. According to both Fightful Select and the Wrestling Observer, there were AEW sources who have said there was a serious disagreement between Deeb and management last year that led to her being off television.

Fightful Select adds, that they were told of Deeb being very vocal about her use on AEW TV, and especially the time that she was given. Those familiar with the situation claimed that it entered the area of disrespect, as she’d accused Tony Khan and AEW management of cutting the time for her matches without telling her until they got to the ring.

From AEW’s side of things was that they actually got a list of times and showed Deeb that her time wasn’t cut based on what was originally budgeted. It is a normal occurrence for producers and coaches in wrestling companies to not relay times for matches until their finalized, as to prevent wrestlers from being upset when inevitable cuts actually happen.

Those close to Deeb say they haven’t heard this story directly from her, but it is one that several members of the AEW roster and others in the company has heard, but it led to a situation where she had heat.

The other side of what Fightful has been told is that Deeb has been suffering from a long term injury. Deeb has told people that she’s dealt with a serious injury and is working to get cleared.

If anything else is reported, Diva Dirt will provide an update.

Becky Lynch’s Memoir To Be Released March 2024

0

Becky Lynch’s upcoming memoir will be released on March, 26, 2024. The title is The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl.

The preview on Amazon reads –

“By age seven, Rebecca Quin, now known in the ring as Becky Lynch, was already defying what the world expected of her. Raised in Dublin, Ireland in a devoutly Catholic family, Rebecca constantly invented new ways to make her mother worry—roughhousing with the neighborhood kids, hosting secret parties while her parents were away, enrolling in a warehouse wrestling school, nearly breaking her neck and almost kneecapping a WWE star before her own wrestling career even began—and she was always in search of a thrilling escape from the ordinary.

Rebecca’s deep love of wrestling as a child set her on an unlikely path. With few female wrestlers to look to for guidance, Rebecca pursued a wrestling career hoping to change the culture and move away from the antiquated disrespect so often directed at the elite female athletes that grace the ring. Even as a teenager, she knew that she would stop at nothing to earn a space among the greatest wrestlers of our time, and to pave a new path for female fighters.

Culled from decades of journal entries, Rebecca’s memoir offers a raw, personal, and honest depiction of the complex woman behind the character Rebecca Quin plays on TV.”

It is available for pre-order.

Tegan Nox Earns NXT Women’s Title Shot; Nia Jax Has In-Ring Return

0

In case you missed this week’s Raw, here is what happened.

WWE remembered that they have other women on the roster, and this includes Tegan Nox. So she dusted off the Shiniest Wizard and had a backstage segment with the NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

Lynch tells Nox that when she made the open challenge last week she was expecting Nox to answer it, mot Natalya. Lynch says she saw Nox at the curtain ready to go and wonders what happened. Nox says Natalya was at the curtain also and being the veteran that she is, Nox let her jump ahead.

Lynch shook up Nox by telling her she has to step up and claim her worth. She says that she has a big match at No Mercy (against Tiffany Stratton) this Saturday but afterwards she wants Tegan to be her next opponent.

Shortly later, we see Nox with Adam Pearce. Natalya interrupts and says she wants a rematch from her loss last week against Lynch. Nox says she had her chance and now it is hers. Nox gets fired up from the talk she had with Lynch to claim her spot. Pearce says he just can’t hand out the title shot but he books Nox vs. Natalya later in the night. Winner will face Lynch or Stratton after No Mercy.

The match between the two was short and had Lynch on commentary. Lynch was hyping up Nox during the bout. Nox put Natalya away with the Shiniest Wizard.

It is confirmed that Nox will face either Lynch or Stratton next Monday for the NXT Women’s Title.

Later in the night we hear from Nia Jax.

Jax talks about how since her return she has squashed the women’s division including the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. One of the women Jax took out last week, Zoey Stark, to which entered the ring and would get right up in Jax’s face.

This led to a match between the two making this as Jax’s first match since her return. This was another short match but there was an exciting spot where Stark attempted to lift Jax up but was unable to sustain the lift as Jax fell on top of her. Jax would win the match.

Raw Discussion Post: 09.25.23

Tonight’s Raw has nothing officially advertised for the women as we get closer to Fastlane. But apparently Chelsea Green who is one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions is not booked for tonight and blames Adam Pearce.

With Nia Jax continuing to take put the women’s roster, what will she have in store to night? Will Becky Lynch issue another open challenge? Will Ripley and Rodriguez return from the initial attacks by Jax?

Hopefully this and much more for the women.

Mandy Rose On A Return To The Ring: “It Has To Be The Right Call”

0

Mandy Rose recently spoke to TMZ Sports on her status when it comes to wrestling. Rose was released back in December from WWE, just one day after she dropped the NXT Women’s Title to Roxanne Perez.

While speaking with TMZ, Rose stated she isn’t saying “no” to an in-ring return right now but it has to be under the right circumstance.

“Financially, I’ve been doing really well. Personally and mentally, I’ve been doing amazing. I have so much more time to spend with my family and get involved with more things that I never thought I would get involved in. It’s been awesome.

I always tell people, ‘WWE is an amazing platform, I am forever grateful, but it’s not the end all be all, and there are amazing opportunities afterward.’ After seeing stuff today [WWE releases], I always tell everyone, ‘there are so many opportunities out there.’ I feel for people that did get released because that’s not the phone call you want at the end of the day. I have a lot of connections and I always tell them, ‘You can call me, I have all the hookups. If you want to go my route, it’s been amazing.’ I can’t complain,” she said. (Fightful)

She continues, “I do miss performing, I miss the camaraderie, I miss that adrenaline rush, for sure, I can’t sit here and say I don’t miss it. However, I am keeping myself super busy to not have to think about it as much. I don’t know about the future. I am a free agent now. If the right call comes around and I feel like making an appearance and coming back to any wrestling federation out there, I’m not saying it’s a ‘no,’ but right now I’m pretty busy. It has to be the right call,” she said.

Where would you like to see Mandy return to the ring? Comment below.

TBS Championship Match Set For AEW WrestleDream

Kris Statlander will be defending the TBS Championship against Julia Hart next Sundat at WrestleDream. The match was confirmed after Hart defeated Kiera Hogan on the Sept. 23 episode of Collision.

Hart was originally supposed to face Willow Nightingale on Collision but after the black mist to the eye by Hart, Hogan stepped up.

After the loss for Hogan, Hart would not let go of the Rings of Saturn submission which prompted Skye Blue to come make the save. However, Blue would be met with the black mist herself. Hart has not lost a match since April 2022, ironically enough against Statlander.

CJ Perry had a backstage interview where again she says her husband has lost his way and they will be taking their own paths. He says that Perry is his temptation but hers is the lights, cameras, and fame. She asks him, if he loves her at all, to not to get involved without anyone she manages.

On the Sept. 22 episode of Rampage, Julia Hart defeated Skye Blue as Willow Nightingale came out for the save. That is what originally prompted Nightingale to face Hart tonight before Hogan took her place.

Also on Rampage, Statlander teamed with Orange Cassidy and Hook to defeat Anna Jay, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker.
