Latest On Jade Cargill Heading To WWE

0

Last week news broke that it was believed that Jade Cargill was finished with AEW and heading to WWE. The inaugural TBS Champion reportedly wrapped up her time with AEW in one final match against Kris Statlander on Rampage.

The news first broke by Fightful Select is now further confirmed by PWInsider. Her contract has expired with AEW. WWE sources tell them that Cargill will be reporting to Orlando this coming week for the WWE Performance Center.

There’s other rumors that she may head right for the main roster and bypass NXT but this isn’t confirmed.

What’s your thoughts on Cargill heading to WWE?

Kris Statlander Gave Jade Cargill The Friday Night Fever To Retain TBS Title

Kris Statlander is still the AEW TBS Champion after defeating Jade Cargill on the Sept. 15 episode of Rampage.

Cargill made her shocking return last week on Collision and went right after Statlander to get her TBS Title back. Statlander is the one to end the long reign of Cargill as well as her undefeated streak.

The final moments of the match has both women in the corner as Cargill attempted to set up for Jaded. Cargill pulled out everything in this match, which many are calling the best in her career. The crowd chants “fight forever.” Cargill hits her head on the middle turnbuckle and runs into a discus lariat.

Statlander hits a scissor kick before picking up Cargill and delivering Friday Night Fever to get the pin and to retain.

Post match, the rumors of Cargill heading to WWE seem plausible as the two women embrace.

Statlander can’t celebrate for too long as tonight on Collision, she will be facing Dr. Britt Baker with the title once again on the line.

Asuka Gets Victory Heading Into Title Bout, Shotzi Costs Bayley

On the Sept. 15 episode of SmackDown, Asuka went one-on-one with Bayley as a precursor to her WWE Women’s Championship match next week. Dakota Kai was at ringside for Bayley but the champ IYO SKY was not present.

The match ended up spilling to the outside as Bayley worked her way out of an armbar. After planting Asuka face first into the ring apron, Bayley had control. She took her over to the barricade and tossed her down before clearing off the announce desk.

Bayley returned to Asuka at the barricade but Shotzi would pop up from the other side and scare her. Shotzi chased Bayley back into the ring which led to Asuka getting the victory off of a backslide.

Post match backstage in a Digital Exclusive, Bayley and Dakota explain that Bayley keeps getting interrupted in her matches by Charlotte Flair, Asuka, and Shotzi. She calls them bullies because they know that Kai is injured and Damage CTRL is currently outnumbered.

Check back for more news and results from the women of SmackDown.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 09.15.23

Last week Asuka made a return after being missing in action for a few weeks. She went right for the WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY and the distraction cost SKY and Bayley their match against Charlotte Flair and Shotzi.

Asuka will get a match for the title next week, but tonight she faces Bayley.

Mickie James Says Her And Trinity At Bound For Glory Sounds Like A Headliner

0

Mickie James made her return to IMPACT Wrestling this week on part one of the 1,000th episode of IMPACT. She will be in action next week as she has joined the team of Jordynne Grace, Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, and the Knockouts World Champion Trinity. They will be facing the returning Tasha Steelz, Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans, Deonna Purrazzo, and Angelina Love. That huge 10-Knockout Tag Team match takes place on Sept. 21.

During the absence of James, since April, Trinity has show up and IMPACT and captured the gold that James never lost. James had to relinquish the title back in April due to injury.

While speaking with WrestlingNewsCo., James had the following to say about Trinity.

We’ve never had a singles match. A lot of times, we were on two different shows, so we would only see each other on pay-per-views. I want this one-on-one match. I’ve been feeling good for a while, but I’ve also sat back, and I’ve truly been enjoying her run as champion. I’ve truly, as a sister and as a friend, have been loving all of these moments and seeing her get this opportunity and doing exactly what I knew she would do, and that’s shine. It’s beautiful to see. It was one of my apprehensions of coming back anyway; I really want her to have all of these opportunities.

Now, I look at her, and she’s run through a lot of that locker room. She’s run through pretty much the entirety of the locker room since she’s been in here, in this short time, and really dominated. Obviously, there are other women that are back and coming back. I’m sure they want an opportunity at the championship too, but I must remind her and the company that I never lost the championship. I never did. I was forced to relinquish it, and I understood that, and I did that. Now that I’ve sat back and feel maybe she’s running out of competition, maybe it’s time for a match that both of us want, the people want, and that we’ve never seen before. If I’m going to test myself and go after it again, anyone aas a wrestler walking into a wrestling television company, if you’re not vying to be champion, then what are you doing? I like being a champion. It feels good, and I enjoy it. I love seeing my friends shine, but I sat back and watched her glow this whole time, and I was getting a little antsy. I also think, Trin and I as tag team champions, we could rule the world.” (Fightful)

James added on them possibly facing off at Bound for Glory –

“Sounds like a headliner. Sounds like money.”

Tasha Steelz And Mickie James Return, Traci Brooks Gets HOF Nod On IMPACT 1000

The first week of IMPACT 1000 featured two big returns and a major announcement for this year’s IMPACT Hall of Fame class.

To kick things off, President Scott D’Amore welcomed Gail Kim to the ring. We saw a video package highlighting the Knockouts greats before The Beautiful People returned and trashed Kim and the other Knockouts. Gisele Shaw came out next and thanked Beautiful People for paving the way, allowing her to take their spot and improve it.

Jordynne Grace was out next, followed by Deonna Purrazzo and Knockouts World Champion Trinity. Purrazzo mentioned her three title reigns, while Kim noted her seven wins. Then out walked Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed, who challenged anyone to a fight.

Tasha Steelz returned and bragged about being the greatest to beat the greatest. Of course, Mickie James then followed and thanked Steelz for the accidental compliment. The battle lines were drawn to set up a huge 10-Knockouts tag match for next week.

Later on, Traci Brooks returned to an IMPACT ring for the first time since 2011 to team with Frankie Kazarian against Alisha and Eddie Edwards. Traci went right after Alisha to start. It wasn’t long before Eddie pulled Traci by the hair, which brought in Frankie.

Edwards beat down Kazarian for a while until Traci was able to get her hands on Alisha again. A clothesline and spear set Alisha up for Fade to Black, allowing Brooks to score the pinfall win.

After, Kazarian revealed a video package announcing Traci as another 2023 IMPACT Hall of Fame inductee for Bound For Glory weekend next month. She celebrated the moment in the ring with their son.

Also, Before The IMPACT featured Jody Threat defeating KiLynn King.

The 1,000th episode festivities will continue next week as Trinity, Jordynne Grace, Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, and Mickie James will join forces against Angelina Love, Deonna Purrazzo, Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans, and Tasha Steelz.

Fightful Select is reporting that sources in both AEW and WWE believe that she is heading to WWE. They clarify, they haven’t learned how long her AEW contract has left on it. Fightful recently heard that there were option years in play, but hadn’t heard who held those options.

It is further being said that her upcoming match that has already been taped for Rampage on Sept. 15 may be her last match. She returned last week to AEW following a several month hiatus. Toni Storm Earns Grand Slam Title Shot; TBS Title Match Set For Rampage

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a four-way bout to determine Saraya’s challenger at Dynamite: Grand Slam.

When the bout started, Toni Storm immediately dipped out of the ring as her delusion continues to grow by the week. Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida opted to double-team Nyla Rose, but that didn’t last too long.

Shida regained her footing and managed to hit a crossbody off the ropes out onto the three outside the ring.

After the break, Shida hit Rose with the Katana, but Baker broke the cover and hit Shida with a stomp.

In the end, Storm ran back in to roll Baker up to steal the victory. Afterward, Shida and Baker got a little physical with their argument.

We then heard from Ruby Soho and Saraya backstage. Saraya called Storm “crazy” and said she’d be left with nothing following their AEW Women’s World title match at Arthur Ashe next Wednesday.

It was also announced that Jade Cargill will get her TBS Championship rematch against Kris Statlander on this Friday’s Rampage.

Becky Lynch Wins NXT Women’s Title, Becomes Grand Slam Champion

0

In the main event of the Sept. 12 episode of NXT, Becky Lynch won the one title that escaped her, the NXT Women’s Championship.

Lynch defeated Tiffany Stratton in one of Stratton’s best matches to date. This ends Stratton’s reign at 107 days. Lynch securing this win has officially made her a Grand Slam Champion in WWE. She is one of six total women to win this accolade and the last of the four horsewomen to do so.

The match itself was hitting on all cylinders and really had a chance to go either way which says a lot about Stratton. The final moments had Stratton go for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever but she landed on her feet as Lynch rolled out of the way. Stratton walked right into a ManHandle Slam for Lynch to get the victory.

Elsewhere on this week’s NXT was a victory for Lyra Valkyria as she defeated Dana Brooke. Brooke continues to show that her anger is getting the best of her as she attempted to go after Valkyria post match and after a handshake. Kelani Jordan stopped Brooke from the attack.

There was a confrontation in the locker room between Lola Vice and Roxanne Perez who will face each other next week.

Kiana James interrupted a pre match interview of Lynch.

Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail continue to bond as Hail gets further and further away from Chase U.

Myles Borne turned on Briggs and Jensen after Fallon Henley tried to bring him into fold.

Blair Davenport was attacked backstage by Gigi Dolin and the two brawled briefly before the main event.

Check back next week for more news and results from the women of NXT.

NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Coming Soon

0

The second annual NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament is coming soon. This was announced on the Sept. 12 episode of NXT. No names have been confirmed or a start date determined at this time.

Last year was the inaugural tournament that was won by Roxanne Perez. She would go on to become the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions with Cora Jade and then cashed in her Breakout Tournament win to challenge Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Championship. Jade turned on Perez that night causing her to lose against Rose and the team was disbanded.

Other participants in the inaugural Breakout Tournament we have seen as major players of the division. Those include Fallon Henley, Kiana James, Lash Legend, and Tiffany Stratton. Stratton lost to Perez in the finals last year.

So who do you want to see breakout this year?

Also Dana Brooke will be in action as she is facing Lyra Valkyria.

There was also teases for Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James from last week but unsure if it they will have a match tonight. They did get into a brawl last week in the locker room. James lost to Stratton in her championship match.

Nia Jax Returns To WWE On Raw, Levels Out Rodriguez And Ripley

0

She’s not like most girls, and she is back. Nia Jax returns to WWE on the Sept. 11 episode of Monday Night Raw.

In the main event booked was a rematch from Payback as Rhea Ripley defended the Women’s World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez. Rodriguez had lost her match against Ripley at Payback thanks to interference by Dominik Mysterio. So this time Dom Dom was banned from ringside.

The final moments of the match had Rodriguez and Ripley on the outside. Rodriguez was in control and hurled Ripley into the commentator’s desk. Once Ripley was rolled back into the ring, Nia Jax made her return and took out Rodriguez. This allowed Ripley to get the victory and retain her title. Jax would enter the ring and share a glance and some words with Ripley before taking her out as well. The crowd gave huge heat and boos to Jax’s return and attack.

The last time we saw Jax was in the Royal Rumble back in January. She was let go from WWE in 2021.

Elsewhere on Raw, Chelsea Green was looking for yet another tag team partner. Stating that Piper Niven was not medically cleared, she tried to get Shayna Baszler to be her partner. Green said they were on the same level. Baszler wanted none of it and challenged her to a match later in the night. When Green turned around she ran into Niven who was back and cleared.

The match between Green and Baszler was super quick but Baszler would have words with Niven. Baszler picked up the win with Piper’s Pit (renamed something else now).

Post match, Niven and Green went after Baszler before Zoey Stark came rushing down to help. The two started forming a bond last week out of respect when Baszler defeated Stark.

Lastly, there was a contract signing in Adam Pearce’s office between Becky Lynch and the NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. Good exchange between both ladies as they face off tomorrow night in the NXT main event with the gold on the line.

Check back in for future news and results from the women of Raw.

Jade Cargill is back and received a huge reaction from the AEW crowd.

Cargill has not been seen on AEW television since she lost the TBS Championship back in May at Double or Nothing to the then-returning Kris Statlander.

Statlander issued an open challenge for the gold on the Sept. 9 episode of Collision. It was answered by Robin Renegade who had her sister Charlette at ringside. Statlander would retain but the twins would attack her post match. This is where Cargill returned.

Cargill took out the sisters before turning her attention to Statlander. She helped her up but landed her with Jaded to the woman who broke her undefeated streak. The former and inaugural champion then turned her attention to the belt signaling she wants it back.

Trinity Retains At Victory Road; Jordynne Grace Returns

0

On Sept. 8, IMPACT had its Victory Road event. There were three Knockouts matches including the return of Jordynne Grace who took a step away from wrestling back in May.

First we had the Knockouts World Tag Team Titles being defended as the champions MK Ultra faced Savannah Evans and Gisele Shaw. Final moments leading up to the end of that match had Jai Vidal up on the apron. This allowed Shaw and Evans to get the better of Masha Slamovich while the referee was distracted. Evans inadvertently hits Shaw with a big boot while Killer Kelly takes care of Vidal at ringside. Slamovich hits Evans with a roundhouse kick, followed by the Snow Plow to get the pin.

Next we had that return of Jordynne Grace. She took on her very popular opponent Deonna Purrazzo. Heading to the closing moments of this bout, both women were down following a double clothesline. Purrazzo hits a pump kick, followed by a German suplex. Purrazzo locks in another Fujiwara Armbar but Grace breaks free. Purrazzo goes for the Queen’s Gambit on numerous occasions but Grace connects. The returning Knockout then connects with the Juggernaut Driver to get the victory.

Lastly we had Trinity defending the Knockouts World Championship against a determined Alisha Edwards. The tide turned in the match after the champion inadvertently knocked out the referee.

Alisha tapped out to Star Struck but there’s no referee to make the call. Eddie Edwards attacks Trinity from behind. He was about to put her through another table like he did this past week when Frankie Kazarian and Traci Brooks emerge to help as they both get their punches in on Eddie. Trinity launches herself off the top rope and lands through the table that Eddie found himself on. Alisha hits Trinity with a kendo stick but it’s not enough and Trinity connects with the Full Nelson Slam to retain.

Alisha and Eddie will be facing Kazarian and Brooks at IMPACT 1,000.

Asuka Returns And Confronts IYO SKY, Title Match Set In Two Weeks

Fans will be getting the WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY taking on Asuka in two weeks time on SmackDown. It will have the title on the line.

On the Sept. 8 episode of SmackDown, there was a tag team match between Damage CTRL (SKY and Bayley) and Charlotte Flair/Shotzi. The match came down to Bayley attempting a high risk maneuver as the champion tried to position Flair.

However, Bayley noticed that Asuka had returned and snuck up behind Dakota Kai who was holding the championship belt. Asuka grabbed the belt while Bayley was knocked off the top rope by Flair. Shotzi would enter and deliver her finisher and pin Bayley giving her and Flair the win.

After the match, Asuka and SKY stared each other down in the ring with the belt positioned between them. Asuka left the ring to end the segment.

The dark match had Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre taking on Zelina Vega & Michin in a losing effort.

On NXT Level Up, Fallon Henley defeated Karmen Petrovic.
