Lyra Valkyria Takes Out Rhea Ripley; Brooke vs. Davenport Set For Next Week

0

The Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley continues to be busy as she made another trip to NXT this week. She was there in the corner of North American Champion Dominik Mysterio as he defended the title against Dragon Lee in the main event.

Ripley had formed some respect for Lyra Valkyria and after defeating her a few weeks ago encouraged her to go and finish the job against Jacy Jayne. Valkyria did just that as she conquered Jayne last week. But Valkyria isn’t happy and said she sees right through Ripley. Ripley manipulates people according to Valkyria and she wanted to see Dominik retain the title all by himself tonight without Mami’s help.

Later on in the main event as Dominik faced Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio was in the corner of Lee. Ripley would get in the face of Rey which had Valkyria come from behind and knock the Women’s World Champion out of the ring. In an exclusive after the match, Ripley was asked about Valkyria. You can check out her response below.

There were two women’s matches during this week’s NXT. First Kelani Jordan had a huge task ahead of her in that of Blair Davenport. Jordan called out Davenport for this match thanks to the advice of Dana Brooke. However, when Brooke’s protege lost, she took matter in her own handa.

With a belt in hand, Brooke went after Davenport chasing her out of the ring. When Jordan went to go calm Brooke down she turned around and almost hit her with the belt. Brooke stopped realizing it was Jordan but this is a whole new side of Brooke.

Brooke will be taking on Davenport next week.

The second match had Kiana James defeat Ivy Nile. Ava and the rest of Schism and the “Schism fans” were at ringside. After James got her victory, the Schism joined Nile in the ring taunting her and asking where the Creed Brothers are. The Family (Tony D’Angelo and Stacks) made the safe to chase Schism away and protect Nile.

The NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton hd a backstage interview where after explaining a major dilemma about her wardrobe choices says that “no one” will be her next challenger.

Thea Hail meets Rey Mysterio and he tells her he knows what it is like to be the ultimate underdog. He sees her as a champion one day.

NXT Discussion Post: 08.08.23

Tonight’s NXT has two matches already scheduled.

We will see Kelani Jordan taking on Blair Davenport after she called him out over the weekend on her social media. Also, Kiana James will be taking on Ivy Nile.

Feel free to discuss the show below.

Tag Team Match Booked For Aug. 12 AEW Collision

After what transpired on the Aug. 5 episode of AEW Collision, a tag team match is set for this Saturday’s show.

On the last episode we saw Kris Statlander successfully defend the TBS Title against Mercedes Martinez. After the match, Diamante came down but instead of saving Statlander she aligned with Martinez. Willow Nightingale did emerge to be by the side of Statlander.

We now have a tag team match between the four as Statlander and Nightingale take on Diamante and Martinez.

Ripley And Rodriguez Continue To Brawl; Stark And Baszler Do Battle

On the Aug. 7 episode of Raw we saw some advances in some storylines as well as a fresh match between Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.

The Stark and Baszler encounter came from the Becky Lynch promo where she was saying her final words about Trish Stratus before they have their match next week. Lynch wants to be over and past Stratus and to move on and she intends to do that after defeating her next week. This of course prompted Stark to come out who said that Lynch is just upset that Stratus kicked her to the side and picked her instead.

Baszler’s music hit as makes her way to the ring. Lynch told her that she was looking rough after her fight with Rousey at SummerSlam. Baszler said that she should see how Rousey looks tonight but she won’t as she ran her out of WWE. This led to a “thank you Shayna” chant from the crowd. Baszler would get into the face of Stark asking her who is the baddest? Stark says if she keeps getting in her face then she will send her out of WWE like Rousey was.

The match was made official in the moment as Lynch would sit at ringside drinking her lemonade. The lemons she turned into lemonade after being cut from the SummerSlam card of course!

The match came next which had Baszler pulling out the win. Final moments of the match had Lynch distract Stark which had Baszler lock in the Kirifuda Clutch in the ropes. After forcing the break, Stark targets her injured arm by hanging her up on the top rope. Baszler eventually after a few tries gets Stark up on her shoulders and delivers the Worlds Baddest Slam or to Rousey, the Piper’s Pit. Lynch then spit her lemonade out like Triple H to end the segment.

Later in the night, Baszler approached Lynch who was being interviewed and told her she didn’t need any of her help and would love to run in back with her in the near future.

Elsewhere on Raw, we see that Raquel Rodriguez is still not medically cleared to compete against the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. Ripley has taken out Rodriguez yet again last week which is keeping her out of action. An angered Rodriguez was joined in medical by Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae who tried to comfort her letting her know she just isn’t ready yet.

Later in the night right as Judgment Day were making their entrance, Rodriguez attacked Ripley and a huge brawl brawl broke out. This led to various officials and referees to come out to stop it and pull them apart. However, LeRae and Hartwell came out to try and stop Rodriguez, but Ripley started attacking them. She threw Hartwell in the barrier and then went after LeRae who got in her punches as well.

Maxxine Dupri was also on the show. She seems to have moved past Valhalla and now Alpha Academy is entering a feud with Imperium as Ludwig Kaiser started to show interest in Dupri.

Lastly, it was confirmed from the news earlier in the day by TMZ that Sonya Deville has been sidelined with an ACL injury. Her surgery is set for today. They did not go into detail on what is next for Chelsea Green and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Deville did take the time to go on her social media however to address the fans about her injury.

Raw Discussion Post: 08.07.23

A couple things are being advertised or planned for tonight’s Raw.

First, we have Becky Lynch scheduled as she prepares for her match against Trish Stratus next week.

We will hear what happens next with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles as we heard moments ago that Sonya Deville is out with an ACL injury. So where does that leave us with Chelsea Green?

Enjoy.

Possible Name Floating Around For A WWE Return

0

A recent report is saying that a former Raw Women’s Champion may be making her way back to WWE.

According to PWInsider, Nia Jax could be making her way back to the company. The report states that there were some rumblings over the last few days of a potential return for her within the company.  They have not heard she is at Raw this evening but at least a few different sources noted they had heard her name being mentioned as of late.

Jax was let go by WWE in November 2021. She made a one off appearance in the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble.

Diva Dirt will provide any updates if they come about.

Sonya Deville Sustains ACL Injury, Requires Surgery

0

Sonya Deville, one-half of the WWE Women’s Champions, has sustained an injury. According to a report by TMZ it is an injury to her ACL which will require surgery. She currently holds the tag team titles with Chelsea Green.

The report states that she tore her ACL during the tag team match against Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair on the July 28 edition of SmackDown. TMZ states the future of the tag titles will be discussed on tonight’s Raw.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has also confirmed the news.

This was Deville’s first gold in her tenure with WWE. She and Green had just recently defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the gold on an episode of Raw.

Diva Dirt sends our best wishes out to Sonya.

Kelani Jordan vs. Blair Davenport Set For Aug. 8 NXT

0

Kelani Jordan seems to be taking the advice of Dana Brooke as she called out Blair Davenport over the weekend on her social media.

Brooke, who showed a more ruthless side to her after defeating Cora Jade in a Kendo Stick match is trying to help out Jordan. You can see how she called out Davenport to find her killer instinct in the post below.

We will also see Kiana James taking on Ivy Nile.

DD Power 15: July 30 to August 05

0

Welcome to this week’s Power 15 Rankings curated by us here at Diva-Dirt. This week we are reviewing women’s action across several companies.

As well as the 15 women featured, two wildcards will be featured each week chosen by Nick and Gary. These wildcards are for women who didn’t quite make the ranking but are ones to watch for the week ahead. Without further ado, let’s get in to it.

Please Note: This list is subjective to us at Diva Dirt. We encourage our readers for respectful and enjoyable conversations.

Gary’s Wildcard – Shotzi

Returning with her new look and new mission (to terrorise Bayley) Shotzi got quite the reaction on Smackdown this week.

The landscape of the Smackdown Women’s division changed a lot this past weekend and Shotzi’s road to payback over Damage CTRL may take centre stage before too long.

Nick’s Wildcard – Diamante

Diamante has recently been making appearances on ROH and has regularly been demanding more competition.

Not only did she receive a ROH Women’s championship match against Athena in an impressive affair, she made her way to Collision this week and aligned herself with Mercedes Martinez. This is all a positive sign that we will be seeing more of Diamante and an actual storyline for our TBS Champion.

Statlander Retains TBS Title; Diamante Joins Martinez

The AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander had a big task to take on for the Aug. 5 episode of Collision. She put her gold on the line against the veteran Mercedes Martinez.

Statlander retained after the two traded back and forth roll ups which had Martinez’s shoulders stay down for the three count. Post match, Martinez wouldn’t let the loss go as she targeted the champ. Diamante came down to the ring which many felt was the save Statlander needed. However, Diamante turned heel and aligned with Martinez. It would be Willow Nightingale who made the actual save.

Diamante has been mostly utilized on ROH and recently had a solid outing against the ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.

After the match, Toni Storm was backstage with Tony Schiavone. She wasn’t freaking out about losing the AEW Women’s World Title to Hikaru Shida before literally freaking out!

Speaking of the new champion, Shida will be putting the title on the line against Anna Jay this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Dakota Kai Says She’s “A Ways Away” From Being Cleared

0

One third of Damage CTRL, Dakota Kai, has been sidelined with an ACL injury since May. This is not the first injury to her knee in her career, but Kai did make a return appearance over the weekend at SummerSlam. She celebrated in ring with Bayley and the new WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY.

During the SummerSlam press conference after the event, Kai confirmed she was just there to support SKY.

“I came because this is such a big moment for [IYO] and us as a group. I’m still a ways away from being in-ring cleared. I had to be here for her tonight. This is such a crazy accomplishment for her, representing Damage CTRL. 2024 is about to be crazy. We’re getting there. I’m squatting heavy.” (Fightful)

ACL injuries generally have talent out for nine months to a year.

KAIRI Announces Next Japan Show, More On WWE Signing

0

KAIRI (Sane) took to her social media to state she would have a press conference and an announcement. Her announcement was an upcoming match at All Japan. She will team with Saori Anou to battle Unagi Sayaka and a partner on Sept. 8 for AJPW.

This news came right on the heels of PWInsider confirming that KAIRI has resigned with WWE and her return is “imminent.” Without an actual date that leaves a question mark on when it will happen.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer confirmed the rumors and that KAIRI will be returning to WWE but has some Japan dates to finish up. Meltzer adds, “maybe November.”

“She’s got two more dates in Japan I think she is scheduled for…she’s coming back.”

KAIRI left WWE in 2020 and returned to STARDOM in 2022. She previously worked in STARDOM for six years until she signed with WWE in 2016. She confirmed she was a free agent in March 2023.

Diva Dirt will provide any further updates of KAIRI as the come about.

IYO SKY Cashes In On Bianca Belair To Become Champion At SummerSlam

A Triple Threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam was a wild ride as the title changed hands twice.

Heading into the event we had Asuka as the champion defending her gold against both Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair. All three women who are no strangers to championships. Flair heading into the match with a SummerSlam 5-0 record and an expert at Triple Threats. Belair seeking retribution against Asuka who is the woman who ended her historical 419 day reign. Asuka certainly had her work cut out for her.

The match certainly had its moments with a lot of double pin and double submission attempts. Belair favored her knee throughout the match up and would go done and possibly out in the back half. Flair had lifted Belair over the top rope and she came crashing down on the steel steps. As she screamed in pain medical came out to try and help her to the back. This left Flair and Asuka to go one-on-one.

Belair wouldn’t get too far up the long ramp before limping back to the ring as Flair had Asuka in the Figure Eight. Belair would go to the top and deliver a 450 splash to break up the submission. Eventually, Belair would seize her moment after Asuka misted Flair in the face which allowed the EST to roll up The Empress for the win.

It wouldn’t be a long celebration as Ms. Money in the Bank IYO SKY with Bayley would rush down the ramp. Bayley took out both Asuka and Flair who were at the bottom of the ramp with the briefcase. Then the briefcase was driven into the already injured knee of Belair.

SKY told the official she was cashing in as she climbed to the top. After delivering the Over the Moonsault, SKY would pin Belair to become champion.

The celebration ensued as Dakota Kai joined her fellow Damage CTRL members in the ring. This signifies one year as a stable and one year later a member holds singles gold.

There had been reports earlier in the night that Kairi Sane has reportedly signed back with WWE. It is said that her return is “imminent” but she did not return at SummerSlam. However, Michael Cole may have hinted to it on commentary as he stated SKY has come all the way from STARDOM to now WWE Women’s Champion.

Also at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey faced Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match. The match could only be won via knockout, pass out, or submission. The match was what it was, but with it being MMA Rules it didn’t follow typical wrestling protocol. In the end it would be Baszler who silenced her former best friend as Rousey passed out in the Kirifuda Clutch.

Kairi Sane Reportedly Returning To WWE

0

In a new report by PWInsider, former NXT and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane (KAIRI) will be returning to WWE.

The report states Sane’s return is “imminent.”

Sane confirmed in March 2023 that she was a free agent after having her recent run with STARDOM. Sane left WWE in July 2020 to return to Japan with reports saying she wanted to be with her husband and it was also the start of the COVID pandemic. She became an ambassador for the WWE.

After her WWE contract expired, she would return to STARDOM and wrestled her first match since July 2020 in March 2022. She became the first-ever IWGP Women’s Champion at NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over when she defeated Mayu Iwatani. She recently wrestled at Sareee Produce Sareee-ISM Chapter II on August 4.

Sane was a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Asuka under the name the Kabuki Warriors. Her farewell video from the company garnered nearly 2 million views.

SummerSlam Discussion Post: 08.05.23

Here’s your discussion post to talk about tonight’s SummerSlam event.

Shayna Baszler vs. Ronda Rousey – MMA Rules

Asuka (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Title

You can read the predictions from the Diva Dirt staff by clicking here.

SummerSlam Predictions 08.05.23

0

Today’s the biggest day of the summer for WWE as SummerSlam will air tonight. We have only two women’s matches on the card but hopefully they both steal the show.

Shayna Baszler vs. Ronda Rousey – MMA Rules

Asuka (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Title

You can read below the predictions from the Diva Dirt staff –

Shayna Baszler vs. Ronda Rousey – MMA Rules

NICK: The rumors are swirling that Rousey’s second run is almost up. Crazy thing is once she teamed up with and now rival to Baszler she has started to care again. Besides her promo work still being hard to handle, you can tell when Rousey cares and that shines through. Baszler being a badass is always my favorite type of Baszler. I think the winner is going to depend on if Rousey’s time is done or not, but for once she feels like an underdog in this to me and has the least likely chance to win.

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

GARY: I feel like this is maybe too safe to assume Rousey is losing here with the rumours that she is leaving WWE but maybe I’m overthinking this. Gonna go with what I want though, Baszler wins and maybe gets a push as a badass tweener that goes straight for Ripley?

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

COLBY: Given how rushed this storyline was, I have to assume this is Ronda’s last match for the time being. If that’s the case, there’s no reason for her to win. I hope they beat the crap out of each other (in the safest, most entertaining way possible, of course) because Baszler has long needed something to make her a credible threat again. We saw a glimpse of it a year ago when she challenged Liv, but now it’s time to really lean into it regardless of Rousey’s status.

WINNER: Shayna Baszler

Asuka (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Title

NICK: I think I am more excited about this match than most because it could steal the show if booked right. There’s a lot of variables at play including IYO SKY with her briefcase with Bayley as well. Although Bayley will likely now be focused on Shotzi moreso. I think it is too soon for SKY to cash in. I think the build needs to be longer and have the crowd get behind her because right now I’m not feeling it.

I can rule out Bianca winning because I just don’t think they are giving her back a title this soon. Asuka should retain but that Charlotte undefeated streak at SummerSlam has me thinking the obvious here.

WINNER: Charlotte Flair

GARY: The real story coming out of this match will Flair vs Belair but that feud does not need the belt, Asuka can win here and move on to her next feud. I am admittedly not as invested in this match as I should be but I am excited to see what the three do together, Charlotte has been off this time around but she always delivers in big matches.

Additional prediction: IYO SKY will attempt to cash in after this match with Bayley but Shotzi will interfere. The cash in won’t be official so SKY keeps the case.

WINNER: Asuka

COLBY: I have to agree with a lot of the complaints about this feud. It’s largely been Bianca vs. Charlotte despite Asuka being champion. We probably shouldn’t be surprised at this point, but that doesn’t take away the disappointment. Charlotte has yet to lose a triple threat match at SummerSlam, which is an interesting stat to consider. But I hope that streak ends. Personally, if Asuka doesn’t walk out as champion, then it better be IYO. I won’t officially predict a cash-in, but I will predict Asuka retaining at least because there’s still plenty they could do with this reign.

WINNER: Asuka

Shotzi Returns To Terrorize Bayley; Zelina Vega Defeats IYO SKY

Shotzi returns for the first time to SmackDown since shaving her head a few weeks ago.

On the Grayson Waller Effect segment, his guests were Bayley and Ms. Money in the Bank IYO SKY. Waller asked if SKY was gonna cash in tomorrow night at SummerSlam. Before SKY could answer, Bayley said why would they give up their plans. We then heard Shotzi’s maniacal laugh play which caused Bayley start to exit the ring in fear. Waller laughed as he said he played that and she really thought it was Shotzi herself.

Waller asks Bayley why is she so scared of Shotzi which Bayley denies. Shotzi’s music hits and her tank emerges, but it isn’t Shotzi in it, it is Zelina Vega. Instead, Shotzi appeared in the ring. After landing a punch, Shotzi chased Bayley through the crowd with an electric razor.

A match between Vega and SKY would take place next. Final moments had SKY get the knees in the corner as she went to head up top for her moonsault. Instead she was distracted by Shotzi chasing Bayley out onto the stage trying to cut her hair.

A powerbomb delievered to SKY followed by the Code Red gave Vega the win.

Asuka, Flair, And Belair Are Ready For SummerSlam

0

SummerSlam takes place this Saturday and even though there are only two women’s matches on the card, the biggest match is a Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Championship. Asuka will defend against both Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair.

On the last SmackDown before the big event, all three women had video promos air.

14-time Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair likes nice things. Champagne, yachts, and championships just to name a few. As she lounges on a yacht sipping champagne, The Queen states she has been the past, present, and future since 2015. She reminds everyone that she has a 5-0 record at SummerSlam and is the iron woman of the women’s division. She says she doesn’t have to beat Asuka and Bianca, they have to beat her.

Next we have the champion Asuka. In a dojo training Asuka exclaims that a Triple Threat isn’t fair. She says she isn’t worried because she has already beat both Belair and Flair. She says she has a plan to beat them as she sprays blue mist into the camera.

Lastly, we have Bianca Belair. She says she is going to get her lick back at SummerSlam. She adds that she was untouchable as champion for 419 days until Asuka stole her title at Night of Champions by blinding her with the mist. Belair doesn’t make excuses though, she just gets back to work. She exclaims that she will hit Flair and Asuka with the KOD and walk out of SummerSlam as the WWE Women’s Champion.

Check back in with Diva Dirt on Saturday for the SummerSlam Discussion Post to chat about the show live.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 08.04.23

Tonight is the last show before SummerSlam tomorrow.

We will see at least Asuka, Charlotte Flair, and Bianca Belair getting prepared for their Triple Threat match at SummerSlam.

Enjoy.

AEW Talent Responds And Defends Women’s Locker Room After LuFisto Shares Her Experience

The response from LuFisto‘s experience from AEW has not stopped the controversy and backlash on social media. Since she has spoken out about her experience, several talents have defended AEW and how great the women’s division is.

Below you will see responses from Taya Valkyrie, Renee Paquette, MJF, Madison Rayne, Tay Conti, Nyla Rose, and Britt Baker.

“This narrative that all the AEW women hate each other is quite frankly annoying. I’ve been there for 5 mths & every1, from the 2nd I walked in that building, has been nothing but supportive, hyping each other up & bad ass. Stop pinning women against each other it’s getting old.” – Taya Valkyrie

“We have an incredible women’s division that all look out for and support each other. I’ve never seen it be anything other than a safe space for a bunch of kick ass women that all want to see each other and all of @aew shine to their full potential. Women hating women is a real dusty take.” – Renee Paquette

“If you listen to miserable people who never made it in this sport that’s not exactly the brightest thing to do.

Use your brain.

If someone’s been in professional wrestling for over a decade and you find them to be talented but they’ve never truly “panned out” there’s a reason for it.

  1. Lack of talent.
  2. Difficulty to work with.
  3. Delusional

Just to name a few.

People love to talk ill of companies and will say things like “I’m the only person who’s brave enough to speak up.” When in reality the only reason you’re spewing bullshit is because you are aware deep down you aren’t going to make it so what’s the harm in spewing reckless lies and trying to hurt hard working talented people on your way down to obscurity.

We have an amazing women’s locker room.

Sorry not sorry.” – MJF

Britt Baker shared the same sentiment as MJF.

Tay Conti replied to Valkyrie’s post and added –

Nyla Rose and Madison Rayne said the following –

LuFusto responds –

Good that everybody at @aew got the memo to write as much shit on me as possible so I can be in seen as a waste of a human being not worth livin, even people who never had a single conversation with me.

Even better to see people I never did anything wrong being so desperate…

… to get a job, jumping on the bandwagon.

Soon, I’ll see you hypocrites be part of Be a Star and mental health matters advertisements acting like you care.

Enjoy your paychecks and keep on stabbing each other in the back pretending this is normal.

I can only hope that…

… your hate towards me will get you to finally fucking work together for the best of women’s wrestling, now that problems have been called out.

So many are miserable, frustrated and will whisper their anger, but never will stand and speak up.

I wanted to leave this world…

… knowing women’s wrestling was better. It was for a while, but not anymore. The sad part is that you accept it without saying a word.

It is what it is.

What a waste.” – LuFisto

Latest Return Times For Jamie Hayter And Thunder Rosa To AEW

Both Jamie Hayter and Thunder Rosa have been out with injuries. For Hayter it has been since Double or Nothing in May when she last wrestled, and Rosa has been out of the ring for a year since August 2022.

According to the most recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hayter isn’t expected back until at least February.

“The current estimated return time for Jamie Hayter is February, due to various injuries, although that’s at best a rough estimate,” Dave Meltzer wrote.

As for Rosa, she has been training for her return but is not expected to be back for All In. Rosa has been out due to injuries to her lower back.

“As of this week, add Thunder Rosa to the list of those who are not expected back in time for Wembley although she is training for her return.”

Diva Dirt wishes both women a strong recovery and hope to see them back in the ring soon.

LuFisto Comments On Viral Post, Shares Her AEW Experience

Veteran wrestling talent LuFisto has been outspoken as of late about her experience with AEW. For context, she took part in a match for AEW Dark Elevation back in April of 2022. She wrote the following social media post out on July 27 –

“It’s cute how people blame booking for a bad women’s division. Talent with too much power; talent denigrating each other; talent trash-talking potential employees so they never get in as soon as they walk in…It starts here. – The one you called FN French Canadian asshole.”

This led to several fans wondering who LuFisto was referring to. This came right as there was a “Book The Women’s Division Better” sign in the audience of Dynamite which the camera caught and stayed on for a short moment.

Fightful sat down after this social media post on then-Twitter (now-X) and spoke with LuFisto who clarified her post and shared her experience with AEW.

Full credit to Fightful for the exclusive and transcripts

“I don’t know where to start, but it’s really something that has been bothering me for a while. It’s been over a year that I had that Dark match at AEW. There are so many things that happened that night. Things that I heard from other women that are working there that had tryouts there, that were extras, as well as men who are currently employed. Of course, I know people want names and everything, but I’m willing to give the names of people involved in my story, but of course, if anybody did confide in me in something, I can share the story, but out of respect, I’m not going to share the name of someone who doesn’t want to lose the job or is looking for a job. They’ve trusted me enough to say, ‘You can tell it, but not the name,’ I’m not going to do it.

“Where to start.”

She continues, “I’ll go with my story of how I got there. It might be pretty long, but then we can discuss it. WrestleCon in Dallas (2022). QT Marshall is sitting right in front of me and I did send him some messages on Twitter before. One of his questions was, ‘Do you have a visa to come as an extra or Dark?’ I did not at the moment. He’s sitting in front of me, so I’m going to actually go say hi in person. That’s where he tells me, ‘It’s funny you came to see me, I was thinking about you, we’re looking for a female coach.’ Is that something that would be interesting for you?’ ‘Absolutely.’

As much as I do love wrestling, one of the things I love the most is, they use the word coach, but I would say I’m more of an agent. I love sitting down with the young generation, even people of my experience, I just love setting up matches and making sure everything is established; the heel, the face, the psychology, the story you want to tell and where you want to go after. That’s one of the things I love the most. I was really excited. He said, ‘Would you be willing to move?’ ‘If there’s a good salary, of course. I don’t want to move for nothing. I just bought my first house.’ ‘Can you be in Boston this Wednesday?’ It’s Saturday. I just said, ‘Oh yeah.’ I didn’t even think about it, I would figure out the rest. ‘You should get an email.’ I go sit at my table and get an email, ‘Wednesday, Boston.’ I see, ‘You need blood tests.’ There’s no way, in two days, I could have a blood test that quick.

There are places in Quebec, but I’ll be home Monday and since Boston is eight or nine hours from where I live, I need to go the day before. I go see him and say, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t. I can’t get [the blood tests] that quick.’ ‘Let me think about it.’ I get another email,’ never mind the blood test. Just show up.’ Then I see, ‘COVID test.’ They want the big one, not the rapid test. ‘Oh, that’s the same problem.’ It’s easy to get a quick one, but the PCR is really hard to get, especially in Canada. I go, ‘Hey, I can’t, sorry.’ I get another email, ‘Never mind the COVID test, just show up, be there, bring your gear.’ The whole thing is to meet with Tony. I’m wrestling, but I’m going there for a coaching job. Do my bookings in Dallas, go home, back, jump in my car, I get there.

She goes into further detail and the describes her encounter with Dustin Rhodes who was conversing with Ruby Soho.

“I go in, meet Shawn Dean, really nice, they give me my pass. The extras change in the shower where the women were. I’m sitting around, waiting, I really want to meet Tony (Khan). That’s the thing. The match is cool, but I want to meet Tony because of the coaching job. The first person I see is Bunny. I say hi. She looked at me, ‘What are you doing here?’ ‘I’m hoping to get something.’ She goes away, comes back a bit later, and asks me the same question. ‘I hope to have a coaching job.’ It’s a little chaotic, people are running around. I go into the ladies locker room, and silence. There is Ruby, Bunny, and Toni (Storm) sitting together on one side. They look at me, no words, and it feels really weird. I see Mercedes Martinez, happy to see me. Jade (Cargill) is doing her thing. The young girls…everyone is separated. I get the same question, ‘What are you doing here?’ ‘I got called to be an extra and meet with Tony.’ From there, I don’t know. It doesn’t feel good right away. I see QT, ‘when am I going to meet [Tony]?’ ‘I don’t know, he’s busy. Walk around, mingle.’ I’m walking around, I’m watching Bryan Danielson teach Jade. A newish wrestler, she comes to see me, ‘Oh my God, you’re here, I want to wrestle, are you staying?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘I’m going to ask the agents if you’re going to wrestle me.’ Another one comes to see me, ‘Oh my God, you’re here, please tell me you’re here to stay.’ ‘Wow, is it that bad?’ She’s like [makes face] like ‘we need you.’ Then I’m starting to kind of put things together. Thunder Rosa is sitting on one side, no one is talking to her. One guy goes to talk to her. I don’t know if it was an agent, I couldn’t see from afar. Everybody is in their own thing. It’s weird, but I’m not used to this environment. I’m waiting, no Tony, nothing. I go backstage, I walk around, meet Christian, very nice. I talk to Mark Henry. I meet Dustin [Rhodes] and he’s talking to me about where I trained and his daughter. By this time, it’s really late. It’s almost 5. I go see Mercedes, ‘Do we know what we’re doing? What’s going on?’ She’s like, ‘We always know at the last minute.’ Time goes by, I see the card, and the first wrestler who said they wanted to wrestle me, she said, ‘they won’t let me.’ ‘That sucks,’ because I really like her. I end up in the six-woman and they keep cutting our time. I see people complaining everywhere because they’re not on the card. They came to Boston, they’re not wrestling. It’s really chaotic. I hear something about CM Punk, but I saw him at catering, he was doing really nice and he was nice to me. It feels like high school. There is no unity, for some reason. They tell me I’m going to have an entrance. I thought, as an extra, I would not. I run to my car, get my jacket, go back in.”

“I go to the restroom. As I open the door, I hear, ‘She something something.’ I open the door and on the table, Ruby Soho is sitting with Dustin [Rhodes] and they just shut (up) and they look at me. ‘Okay, they were talking about me, that’s for sure.’ [Ruby is] like, ‘I have to go.’ I go to Dustin and he goes, ‘So, all French Canadian people are fucking assholes eh?’ I’m like, ‘Excuse me, what?’ He was nice to me five minutes ago. He’s like, ‘Yeah, apparently that’s the way it goes.’ I have a very bad relationship with Jacques Rougeau. I can say he was even abusive to me, calling me to tell me I was fat and to lose weight. I’m like, ‘maybe he had a bad experience with Jacques too?’ He’s looking at me differently and the funny thing is, [Evil Uno] walks by and he’s like, ‘Hey, Uno, that’s true French Canadians are fucking assholes, right?’ Uno is like, ‘I’m French Canadian.’ ‘Oh, okay.’ They talk a little bit. I’m there, but I just leave. I’m like, ‘what the fuck just happened?’ I love Dustin. I even wrote him messages, thanking him for the Keep Stepping thing, because it was very inspiring. I’m like, ‘What the fuck just happened?'”

LuFisto goes into detail of the structure of the Trios match she was there to do. The match was herself, Emi Sakura & The Bunny against Ruby Soho, Anna Jay, & Skye Blue.

“I have to get ready for my match now and I have to wrestle her. One thing I notice is, Skye Blue is not saying a word. They tell her what to do. Anna Jay says, ‘I can do this.’ ‘It will be your turn there.’ I don’t want to talk too much to put my input because I realize I’m the only one not signed in the match. Why am I there? At this point, I don’t know. They told me I’m going to start with Skye Blue. ‘What do you want to do? What are your moves?’ It’s like…either she’s bland as a person or she’s not allowed to talk. I don’t know if she didn’t understand why I was asking her for her stuff. I was weird. We do this, Ruby sets up the whole thing with Bunny, Emi is just following. I do a clothesline, ‘I should probably go for a pin there.’ ‘No, don’t do a pin. Just tag Emi.’ Okay, cool. [Ruby says], ‘The finish will be, we do something, Anna Jay is going to biff you guys on the apron, I’ll come get you for the finish, 1, 2, 3.’ ‘Okay, that’s fine. Do I go down, do I stay up?’ ‘Just stay there. The finish is coming.’ We go do the match. It is what it is. It’s not like a five star match, but for the four minutes we had, it is what it is. When we get to the finish, Anna Jay hits all of us. I stay there and wait, and nothing is happening. They keep going, they do something else on the other corner. I’m waiting. Go back in, finish, 1, 2, 3.

“We go backstage and they all keep going. Dustin is right there and is like, ‘What did you do?’ ‘What do you mean?’ ‘You made all those girls that are signed when you’re not look really bad. It was terrible.’ ‘Okay, details?’ ‘You should have bumped on everything they did.’ I’m like, ‘everything they planned was for me to sell to the next for the other to sell to the tag for me to give a clothesline, tag out, and only tag back in.’ I have 40 seconds in there. ‘Sir, can you please give me details on what I should have done better so I don’t repeat it?’ ‘When Anna Jay biffed you on the apron, you should have fallen outside.’ Now I’m like, ‘Thank you, sir. I see.’ Of course, everyone else left. No one is there when he’s giving me this criticism. Billy Gunn is nearby. I look around and am like, ‘can someone else tell me that I suck this bad? I need another opinion.’ He was looking at me like I was disgusting. Now I’m like, ‘they told me to stay on the fucking apron.’ The thing that I was thinking about was, there were a few girls that told me they had matches with Britt Baker where they would go in the ring and they would change the match completely or, if the girl forgot something, she would go, ‘where are we?’ Silence. Of course, the match would look bad, they would never be called again and they got stiffed as well. They didn’t want to stiff me, but they made sure, to at least an agent, I looked like a fucking idiot. I went around and asked some guys, ‘did you watch the match?’ One of them told me, ‘I did not, but I will.’

After her match and critiques, she still wanted to speak to Tony Khan but was unable to and was told he was busy. She talks about that in detail and then goes on to share her prior experience with Soho and also why AEW’s structure doesn’t work due to the “gatekeeping” of it.

“I’m so upset that I went there and spent my money for this. I’m like, ‘you should have known better,’ especially with Ruby. When I was backstage at WWE at WrestleMania (2016) because I had tickets from Pat Patterson. [Senior Director of Talent Development] Canyon Ceman was right there. Kimber Lee was working there, and Andrea, we were sitting together, and so was [Ruby]. Canyon comes to sit with us, ‘Oh, I went to the women’s shows. Queen of Combat, that was the shit. We went to SHIMMER, we got what we wanted there. The rest was whatever.’ Kimber Lee and Andrea are looking at the floor and [Ruby] is like, ‘Yeah, yeah. I know, I know.’ You’re shitting on SHIMMER? From that moment on, I’ve always had that problem with her. How the fuck can you throw them under the bus, just to kiss ass? The funny thing is, he looks at me, ‘Who are you?’ ‘Hi sir, I’m Gen [Genevieve Goulet], nice to meet you.’ He kind of figured out I was on that show. ‘Well I gotta go.’ [Ruby says] ‘I gotta go too,’ and she left. I don’t know if she ever thought I was going to talk about it. She gets booked at IWS in Montreal. They want to book her against me. ‘Alright, let’s do this.’ Two days before they announce our match, IWS is freaking out. ‘We have to change everything, we’re sorry. Something with AEW. It involves five people on the card, we have to re-do the card.’ ‘Okay, it’s going to be Ruby, because of me, and all the other girls, which makes five of us is the reason why everything is fucked up.’ Of course that’s what it is, they didn’t want to tell me. She shows up, ‘Hi, how are you?’ Gives me a big hug, ‘it’s so nice to see you.’ I’m like, ‘Motherfucker, after everything, you think I don’t know?’ I’ve seen this behavior forever.”

“I’m telling my story and my experience for people to understand that the reason why this division doesn’t work is the gatekeeping of it. It’s not going to get any better as long as somebody doesn’t stand up. Everybody is afraid to talk. Everybody doesn’t want to say what I’m saying right now. I’m even struggling right now, but someone has to say it. Unfortunately, it’s the 43-year-old that’s doing it because everybody is so afraid to lose their freaking jobs that they don’t say anything and they accept things that should not be. Somebody has a tryout and you make sure they look bad? I’m not even talking about myself because I didn’t look that bad. I was told following discussions, some girls are asking for guidance and ‘make sure they look bad so they don’t come back because there is genuine interest in them.’ The girls fighting with each other. I hear it all the time. My ship has sailed, I’m aware of that.

One thing though, I love wrestling with all my heart, so if somebody wants to say I’m bitter, I say, ‘Fuck you.’ I go out there every weekend, I love what I do, I’ve been to court to defend women’s wrestling. The thing that I do not accept, and it’s what’s going on at AEW right now, women are shitting on women when we should be helping each other and lifting each other up. If you’re not good enough to be out there and prove you can go and you have to go through politics and people you’re with, you don’t belong in the sport. Right now, it’s filled with people who use wrestling to have that fame. The ones that really fought hard for women to be seen as athletes, that we work together. One of the problems, men are in charge of the women’s division. I’ll be honest, they don’t care. They will put their friends in spots before the women. If you stay up there because you’re in your comfort zone, it’s not going to change. You need to stand up, you need to speak your mind. Do it politely, but you can’t have people running the whole thing with their friends, with their clique, and expect women’s wrestling to change and people give it time so it matters. It’s not going to change if you don’t have people who are passionate about what women’s wrestling should be when it’s just the people who are out there who want to be there and have a certain power and it doesn’t go with what is the best product you can put up. When you look at the talent they have, in and out of the ring.

“You have Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Chris Hero, Sarah Stock, Leyla Hirsch, Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter. There is so much talent. Why is it not working? It’s not a question of booking because if a wrestler is good and passionate, they make chicken salad out of chicken shit. I always think about Dusty Rhodes and the polka dots. He made that work. Mizdow could’ve been terrible, but he got himself over, embracing it. Not telling them what to do. You work with strengths, weaknesses, you work together. You, as the veteran, don’t go, ‘you’re going to do this, you’re going to do this. That’s the way it works here.’ I know I’m going back and forth between so many things, but it shows how chaotic it is. There are so many little problems. Yes, it’s booking related. Yes, it’s someone that doesn’t put their pants on and say, ‘You are talent, give me your ideas, I want to work with you. Don’t tell me what to do, I’m the boss, I pay out.’ If there is something you don’t want to do and are not comfortable, never push your talent to do something they are not comfortable doing, wrestling someone they don’t want to. That’s creating more problems, injuries, and they’re not going to have a good product on TV. You want things to work. If it means this person, this person, and this person creates problems, fire them. You have 60 women who want to be on top and want to give you good matches. You’re not using them because you have that core that wants to stay there and will do everything they want to stay there.”

When asked if she would want to sit down and talk with Dustin Rhodes and/or Ruby Soho about what took place she had the following to say.

“So many times, I’ve wanted to reach out to him. He would write things, ‘Be kind to people, you don’t know what they’re going through.’ You don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to reply, ‘I really wish you would have showed me the same kindness. Everything you’re saying, I believe too. I’m not perfect. I did things wrong in my past and I will do again, we all make mistakes.’ I know when this goes out, ‘LuFisto, you did this.’ I know, I’m human, whatever. I don’t think I deserve to be called a French Canadian Asshole. We’re nice people. Jacques Rougeau is an asshole.”

On Soho –

“The first time, it went really well. Both matches, I think, were really good. We got good comments, the promoter was really happy, the crowd was into it. The second one, my nose got broken, and she always had a shoulder injury. I heard people say, ‘You hurt her in that match.’ She was hurt before and I asked her, ‘Do you want to do something besides the Burning Hammer?’ ‘It’s already real bad. It doesn’t matter, can’t be worse.’ With the nose, it was a hit that came quick. It happens. It broke my nose. The only thing I said was, after this hit, my nose was completely messed up, there is nothing I can do with it. I was always able to replace it myself, but it was past that. It’s not because she messed up my nose, it’s because it’s been broken so many times and then, it was over. Why would she say I injured her when everything was fine before? I saw her after, it was fine. It’s when I got to WWE and the SHIMMER comment happened and it was, ‘what?'”

LuFisto then circled back around to her tweet by saying, “I opened the door on that conversation and then that finish. I was nervous, I’m sure I had my faults in there. I know I remember the match. I didn’t have anything where I didn’t know what was next. I’ve been thinking about it forever, but I didn’t want to get into drama or an argument. I know by me coming forward and explaining that system that it’s now out there and what people told me and my own experience, I know a lot of people are going to shit on me. Some people are not going to talk to me anymore, but I feel it needed to be said. You can’t go forward and talk about a women’s revolution…right now, everyone is shitting on women’s wrestling and too many women work so hard for us to be respected as athletes and now it’s going back because you’re not putting the wrestling in front. It’s all about being famous, being the top girl. If we all work together, and it’s good from top to bottom, then the ratings will go up. There is interest in women’s wrestling.

WWE, the women’s segment went up because they’re giving more time to storylines. They’re not perfect either. I haven’t been there, so I can’t comment, but it’s pretty much the same women at the top and there’s barely….I haven’t been there, so I can’t comment. As long as it’s that mentality that there is this group and everyone else is whatever, instead of working together, it’s not going to change. It’s not going to be better. There was that moment when SHIMMER was on top, and then the NXT women, and the Knockouts also. Now, it’s like it’s going backwards. I’m not going to get a job, but I’m not going to have my 26 years of wrestling wasted on women who do not deserve to be there, not because they’re not good, but because they are terrible human beings. They’re narcissists and they only think about them and they do not think about women’s wrestling as a whole. Hate me. Talk shit. I’m ugly, I’m fat, I’m old, I didn’t make it. Whatever. I’ve heard them all, I don’t give a damn. I don’t care anymore. One thing I will always care about is that women wrestlers of today, the ones that came after me and my generation, I don’t want them to go through the same bullshit I had, the politics, the abuse, the guys grabbing our asses backstage and being screamed ‘puppies’ and ‘whore’ and that women’s wrestling sucks. Women’s wrestling sucks if you allow it to. By letting your talent that shouldn’t be in charge do what they’re doing right now, you’re allowing women’s wrestling to suck. That’s where I draw the line.

If I don’t get booked anymore because of this, whatever. At least it’s out there. You are destroying what women’s wrestling should be. It’s going backwards, it’s going down. With the talent that there is on the indies and the bigger promotions, everywhere around the world. This should not be happening.”

After this interview came out, Dustin Rhodes responded on X as follows in a now deleted post –

“Hey @LuFisto, read your story and sometimes as a coach I have to be very honest and won’t ever tell you a lie about how good or bad it was. Sometimes hard love comes out and wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope you find what you’re looking for. #KeepSteppin”

LuFisto took to social media following the release of this interview stating – “The women who actually addressed the problems I did today were the ones sent home by Tony Khan.”

The Coven Scores Upset Win; Kong & Beautiful People Set For IMPACT 1000

This week’s IMPACT opened with Trinity returning to Chicago, the same city she made her IMPACT debut. Similarly, Deonna Purrazzo interrupted her and declared that Trinity won’t beat her twice. The Coven followed suit with KiLynn having a lengthy promo. But when all was said and done, a brawl broke out leading to an impromptu match.

It didn’t take long for King to overpower Trinity, allowing The Coven to take control in the early minutes. Purrazzo was able to come in but fell into the same trap. Purrazzo managed to pull out the Fujiwara Armbar twice on King. On the second try, Wilde broke it up.

Trinity ran in and tried for a roundhouse on Wilde, but she ducked and accidentally kicked Deonna instead. Wilde then tossed the champ out, allowing KiLynn to hit King’s Curse on Purrazzo to score the win.

Alisha Edwards talked trash on Traci Brooks backstage, which led to Jody Threat interrupting to defend Brooks in her absence. Alisha challenged her to a match next week to see if she can run Threat off as well.

Gisele Shaw beat Heather Reckless on BTI.

It was also announced that The Beautiful People’s Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, plus Hall of Famer Awesome Kong will be returning to appear on IMPACT 1000, which is being taped on September 9.

Latest On Why WWE Pulled Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch From SummerSlam

0

Fans were not happy after this past Monday Night Raw when they found out the long build up to Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch for SummerSlam was not going to be taking place. Instead, the match will take place on the Aug. 14 episode of Raw.

Fightful Select did some reporting to find out more information about why this match was cut from what seemed like an obvious match for the biggest event of the summer. Fightful was originally told that the reason for cutting the match was a “good reason.” Turns out it wasn’t all that good.

At the time of the match announcement for mid-August, there was an indication that it was something physical related, which Fightful was looking to confirm. However, the confirmation wasn’t physical related and both women are healthy and were available for SummerSlam. So what gives?

Instead, Fightful was told that WWE has been adamant about limiting the number of matches and runtimes for premium live event shows, which has caused some matches that were being built for the show to be moved elsewhere. If Trish vs. Becky was on the SummerSlam card, the match would have been severely limited by time and the decision was made to put it on a future Raw instead. There was also consideration to move it to the Payback event coming up on Sept. 2.

Fightful adds that neither woman was thrilled with this adjustment which came into focus just days before their Raw match up was set. Cutting this match and not adding on Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez only leaves fans with two women’s matches for SummerSlam.

Hikaru Shida Wins AEW Women’s Title In Dynamite 200 Main Event

One week removed from the “Book The Women’s Division Better” sign appearing on television, the AEW Women’s World Championship match headlined the 200th episode of AEW Dynamite.

In the latter half of the bout, Ruby Soho pulled Shida off the turnbuckle, allowing Storm to hit a Tornado DDT. Storm hit the running hip attack in the corner followed by another DDT for a nearfall. Storm shoved Shida around until Shida fired back with forearm shots. They traded blows before Shida landed a knee strike and Falcon Arrow for yet another nearfall.

Shida grabbed her kendo stick, but Soho got up on the apron only to be whacked.

Storm sprayed Shida while the ref was turned around throwing the stick out. She hit Storm Zero, but Shida kicked out. Shida then stacked on top of Storm for the three-count! Hikaru Shida is now a two-time AEW Women’s World Champion.

Looking forward, Anna Jay vs. Skye Blue has been announced for Friday’s Rampage. As previously announced, Kris Statlander will defend the TBS Championship against Mercedes Martinez on Collision.
