Lyra Valkyria Silences Jacy Jayne; Lola Vice Picks Up Debut Win

0

The Aug. 1 episode of NXT opened up with the rivalry between Jacy Jayne and Lyra Valkyria. After Valkyria failed to get a victory over the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, Ripley still told Valkyria to prove something to her and take out Jayne.

Jayne opened the show in studio as she grabbed Vic Joseph’s headset and said some choice words about her opponent. She continued to attack first as she attacked Valkyrie during her entrance. The two had a solid back and forth match.

The final moments had Valkyria picking up the win after a huge splash off the top rope.

A second match was dealt between Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez vs. Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon. Feroz and Leon were coming off a big win against Meta-Four at the Great American Bash. However, the official debut of Vice was too much for them as she and Lopez picked up the victory. Vice hit a roundhouse kick on Leon to get the pin.

Other women on this week’s show included Thea Hail throwing in the towel for Andre Chase during his match. However, the referee didn’t see it. She did this because that is what Chase did to her at GAB against Tiffany Stratton. Hail walked off afterward.

A vignette also aired to say Stratton who was not on this week’s episode will be back next week.

Cora Jade Says She’s “Leaving” NXT; Dana Brooke Embraces Her Dark Side

0

After losing to Dana Brook in a Kendo Stickk match on the July 25 episode of NXT, Cora Jade says she is “leaving” NXT. On this week’s episode Jade entered the women’s locker room, gathered her belongings, and told the rest of the girls “good luck” without her.

Jade has recently deactivated her Twitter account and on Instagram says she never had one and never will. She posted on her Instagram story the peace sign emoji.

Elsewhere on this week’s NXT, Dana Brooke had a backstage promo with Kelani Jordan. Brooke tells Jordan that Jade brought her to a dark place and she saw red. Jordan told her that’s what people needed to see while Brooke says she kind of liked it. Brooke tells Jordan that is something she needs to tap into herself and find that killer instinct.

Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch Set For Raw Aug. 14

0

If you thought we were going to get Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch at SummerSlam, think again. Their rematch will take place in two weeks at the Aug.14 episode of Raw in Winnipeg. Zoey Stark will be barred from ringside.

On the July 31 episode of Raw in Houston, Texas, Lynch called out Stratus to have their rematch right then and there. Lynch earned her rematch after defeating Zoey Stark last week. Despite Lynch wanting the rematch tonight, Stratus of course denied it. Adam Pearce, however, made Stratus get in the ring and start the match.

The match only lasted mere seconds as Stark entered and caused a disqualification. The duo teamed up to play the numbers game on Lynch getting the last laugh.

Elsewhere on Raw, a video package showed that the Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler match at SummerSlam is now an MMA Rules match.

Maxxine Dupri stays undefeated in WWE as she was successful in her first singles match against Valhalla.

Raquel Rodriguez attacked the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley in the ring. The brawl resulted in Ripley targeting Rodriguez’s already injured knee.

Shayna Baszler Wants Top Gold After She Defeats Rousey

0

Shayna Baszler is ready to fight Ronda Rousey at this year’s SummerSlam on Aug. 5. The two former best friends have been locked in a rivalry ever since Baszler turned on Rousey and cost them the tag team titles.

Baszler is ready to run through Rousey and then go straight to the top and finally win singles gold in her main roster career. She told News 18 the following about her championship goals.

“Once I take care of Ronda Rousey, and I called for it to a fight. So I’m gonna beat Ronda Rousey at what she’s the best in the world at. I think everyone’s head has to look in my direction after that. So whether that happens in, you know, a month or a year, I think that’s the eventual path that happens.” (Fightful)

Singles gold has been a mystery for Baszler as she hasn’t been champion on the main roster since her debut from NXT in 2020. She has made history in NXT as the longest combined day NXT Women’s Champion in history with two reigns.

Baszler has won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on three different occasions. She holds a record there as well with the longest combined days with Nia Jax.

What do you think of Baszler becoming a singles champion on the main roster? Is it overdue?

Melina Talks Surprise Title Changes And Her Future In Wrestling

Former OG WWE Women’s Champion as well as Divas Champion Melina recently spoke about many topics throughout her career as she sat down with Ring the Belle.

The 20 plus year veteran spoke with DS Shin about her win against Jillian to become the Divas Champion but also that mysterious win and loss of the Women’s Title in Paris.

For those of you who may need a reminder, in 2007 at a live event in Paris, France…Melina lost the WWE Women’s Title to Mickie James in a Triple Threat that also included Victoria. Of course that wasn’t supposed to be the case, so Melina hd a rematch with James that same night to win back the title. Here is what Melina had to say about that moment.

“Blame me if you guys want to blame me that it was my fault, but it was everybody’s fault. Again when it comes to wrestling you have to be prepared for every scenario. What if I was hurt, what if all these things happened? You have to be prepared. If your the person getting pinned you have to be ready to kick out because that’s the job. If you’re the person on top you gotta be ready to pretend you are going to be kicked out. We have to protect each other, it’s just not one person – you don’t blame everybody on one person. This made me learn that when you do too many spots that are the same freaking thing, I was told and I asked multiple times is it at this point? Is this when I am supposed to kick out? Is this when I am supposed to come in? Everybody was like ‘yeah, yeah, yeah.” I did what I was told, that’s the way I saw it. It’s miss communication and I understand that. Maybe I got it wrong? I’ll take the blame it doesn’t really matter.”

Melina went on to explain that so many people were confused and every body was exhausted after a long road show and this was the tail end of it.

Melina has been out of wrestling for about a year now as she has taken some time off. Her last appearance in a ring was at an indie event against Scarlett Bordeaux in May 2022. Of course she appeared in the WWE Royal Rumble in January of that same year. Prior to that she was working with NWA and made a few appearances for IMPACT. Here’s what she told Shin about her future plans.

“For the first time in 20-something years, I took a break from wrestling for a year. I gotta get back in shape because I enjoyed my vacation a little too much, but I’m happy with it. I’ll get back in shape, I want to do stuff with Alicia Fox. At the same time, I want to start managing. If anything, I want to start doing stuff behind the scenes or anything. Melina can do anything. I want to do everything to make you guys smile and have fun. That’s what matters to me,”she said.

Outside of this Ring the Belle interview, Melina also spoke to MuscleMan Malcolm where she wishes WWE would bring back other former talents.

NXT Great American Bash Predictions: 07.30.23

0

Tonight is NXT’s next premium live event: Great American Bash. There are three matches involving the women’s roster – one of which is on the pre show.

The matches are as follows –

Meta-Four vs. Nathan Frazer, Dragon Lee, Valentina Feroz, and Yulisa Leon – Preshow

Blair Davenport vs. Roxanne Perez – Weapons Wild

Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Thea Hail – NXT Women’s Title Submission Match

Below you will find the predictions from the Diva Dirt staff:

Meta-Four vs. Nathan Frazier, Dragon Lee, Valentina Feroz, and Yulisa Leon – Preshow

COLBY: I won’t say I’m super invested in this storyline, but I can say that I’m pumped for these four women to get able to perform on a bigger stage. They’ve all showed potential to be key players in the future, especially in the tag division, so hopefully they’re able show us even more here. Meta Four has been working on redemption as of late, so I’m going with them.

WINNERS: Meta Four

NICK: I was pleasently surprise they added this match and glad for both the women of Meta Four and for Feroz and Leon to get this opportunity. With that being said I am sure that they want to continue to push Meta Four as a big contender but I think they will only win where it truly counts. This will eventually lead to Noam vs. Nathan to determine who the true Heritage Cup owner is. So with Noam likely winning that, I doubt they will win this bout.

WINNERS: Valentina Feroz, Yulisa Leon, Nathan Frazer, and Dragon Lee

GARY: I’m glad to see women such as these four getting an opportunity on a PLE, yes it’s the preshow but it’s still great to see them getting booked. Of course, the main story here is surrounding Noam Dar and the Heritage Cup so I don’t think the women will directly pick up the win but I’m going with Meta-Four picking up the victory here.

WINNERS: Meta-Four

Blair Davenport vs. Roxanne Perez – Weapons Wild

COLBY: With the NXT tag titles a thing of the past, it’s nice to see a non-title feud filling the spot on this card. Davenport adds depth to the heel side of the division while Roxanne is in the midst of her character arc. I don’t necessarily feel like the gimmick is warranted as much here as it was for Roxanne vs. Cora, but I can’t complain too much. Roxanne is bound to have a great showing in her home state and will likely win as she works her way back up to the title.

WINNER: Roxanne Perez

NICK: I am actually really liking this feud. The convenient store attack was fun and over the weekend they had a run in again. I love when they take the fight outside the show. This feud will likely go to a rubber match so with Blair winning the first bout it makes sense for Roxanne to win here.

WINNER: Roxanne Perez

GARY: This one is hard to call for me as I think the storyline could end nicely with a Perez victory but I also want Davenport to win here as I feel she needs to keep this aura she had as the attacker that was running through the division backstage. I’m going with Davenport for the win.

WINNER: Blair Davenport

Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Thea Hail – NXT Women’s Title Submission Match

COLBY: By all accounts, this is the first time the NXT Women’s Championship will be contested in a Submission match. I don’t think many of us saw Thea Hail emerging as a contender this early in Tiffany’s reign, but I will say they’ve done well with the story thus far of Thea mastering the Kimura Lock. At the same time, Stratton hasn’t shown us what her submission game looks like, which poses a major threat to her reign. A huge upset would be interesting for the 19-year-old challenger, but Stratton is still finding her footing as champ. I’m confident we’re getting Stratton vs. Perez later this year.

WINNER: Tiffany Stratton

NICK: I will give this one to Tiffany because it is way too soon for her to drop the belt. Although Thea becoming the youngest champion would be fantastic and her on screen presence is amazing. There is just way more to tell with Tiffany as champion right now and possible future matches.

WINNER: Tiffany Stratton

GARY: Regardless of outcome, I hope these two have a stellar match and Tiffany gets some respect back as her first title defence didn’t go great. I am worried, with Chase U being ringside, that shenanigans will ensue with Gulak and Dempsey coming down to get revenge but I hope not. In an ideal world, I’d love to see Stratton get the win and have her and Hail have a moment of mutual respect and we slowly turn Stratton face. I feel like NXT has loads of great heels ready for title shots while the baby faces are either busy with other stories or aren’t quite built up enough yet. Tiffany for the win but Hail goes out strong!

WINNER: Tiffany Stratton

Check back in with Diva Dirt tonight to talk about this show live.

Toni Storm vs. Hikaru Shida Set For 200th Dynamite Episode

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida will have the chance to become a two time champion as she faces Toni Storm on Aug. 2. This will be the 200th episode of Dynamite.

Jacy Jayne Says She’s Going To “Raise Hell” At Great American Bash

Jacy Jayne took to social media today to air out her grievances. Currently, she is not booked for the Great American Bash this Sunday but that may not stop her from showing up.

Jayne has not been on TV since she lost to Lyra Valkyria but was able to get the last laugh by ripping up Valkyria’s feathers.

Jayne says she will make her opportunity by showing up to the GAB and doing whatever she wants to do whenever she wants to do it. She says that Jacy Jayne always gets the last laughed and has warned Valkyria, Rhea Ripley, or anyone else in the women’s division.

Ripley responds saying she will be there all day.

Flair And Belair Coexist Ahead Of SummerSlam

A tale as old as time played out on SmackDown this week, can they coexist?

Ahead of them challenging Asuka for the WWE Women’s Title Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair teamed up to face the WWE Women’s Tag Twam Champions Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green.

The final moments of the match had Flair get a blind tag as Belair had Green up and ready for the KOD. Flair hit a big boot on Green causing her to fall off of Belair’s shoulder. The two argue before Flair pins Green to get the victory.

The champion Asuka appears later in a locker room segment between IYO SKY and Bayley. Asuka says that if SKY considers to cash in on her then she will regret that decision forever.

SKY responds saying it doesn’t matter who wins at SummerSlam because she will be leaving as WWE Women’s Champion.

SummerSlam takes place on Aug. 5 so there is one more show before the big event.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 07.28.23

As we get closer and closed to SummerSlam on Aug. 5, we now know Asuka will be defending her WWE Women’s Title in a Triple Threat. It will be against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair.

Elsewhere on SmackDown, Shotzi has been playing mind games with Damage CTRL ever since Bayley cut her hair.

Currently there is nothing announced for tonight.

Enjoy.

Karmen Petrovic Has TV Debut On NXT Level Up

0

The debuts continue after the recent Izzi Dame debut on NXT Level Up. Now is Karmen Petrovic (Monika Klisara).

Petrovic has had several matches at NXT house shows and now she is ready to go against Ivy Nile in her debut. She joined WWE in the recruitment class of fall 2022. This also included recent newcomer Kelani Jordan and also Dame who debuted last week. We have also heard of Harleigh White from the same class who has received her new ring name Kiyah Saint.

Petrovic’s last two house shows were losses against Nile.

You can view this match tonight on Peacock after SmackDown.

Knockouts World Title Rematch Set For IMPACT Emergence

This week’s IMPACT kicked off with tag team action as new Knockouts World Champion Trinity teamed with Dani Luna to take on former tag champs The Coven.

Trinity and KiLynn King started the bout as a callback to Trinity’s debut. Luna eventually came in and showcased her powerhouse moves against both King and Wilde.

But it wasn’t long before The Coven outnumbered Luna and kept her grounded for a bit. Trinity finally got the hot tag and hit Wilde with a Samoan Drop and crossbody from the top. Luna tackled King out of the ring, which allowed Trinity to hit the full-nelson bomb into a pinfall on Wilde for the win.

Afterward, Deonna Purrazzo came down and simply stated that she wants her Knockouts World Championship rematch at Emergence in Toronto on August 27.

Later, Gisele Shaw went one-on-one with Masha Slamovich following their backstage interaction last week. Slamovich initially targeted Shaw’s left arm and tried to keep her grounded, but Shaw eventually took control by shoving the champ out of the ring.

After the break, Shaw took control with flying uppercuts followed by Shock and Awe. When Masha starting making a comeback, Jai Vidal distracted from the apron. Killer Kelly pulled him down, but then Savannah Evans clobbered her. Shaw took advantage and hit Masha with a big knee strike for the win.

Elsewhere, Traci Brooks told Frankie Kazarian that she wants five minutes in the ring alone with Alisha Edwards. Kazarian seemingly talked her out of it for now.

No matches have been announced for next week yet. IMPACT will hold television tapings in Chicago on Friday and Saturday night.

Latest On Wendy Choo’s In-Ring Status

0

If you are a viewer of the NXT brand you may have noticed that Wendy Choo has not been in a match since May where she teamed up with Kelani Jordan in a win on NXT Level Up.

According to Shawn Michaels on the Great American Bash media call, Choo is rehabbing an injury. At one point, she was written off as one who was attacked by Blair Davenport in the parking lot.

“Still coming along. Still rehabbing her injuries. Hopefully she will be back soon. We’re very good, as is our talent, very good about making sure they are 100% ready to go. My understanding is everything is progressing well, but she’s still a ways off before she will be seen in action,” said Michaels.

The last No Mercy event took place in 2017. At that event, Alexa Bliss defeated Bayley, Emma, Nia Jax, and Sasha Banks to retain the Raw Women’s Championship.

Britt Baker Beats Taya Valkyrie On Dynamite; Shida vs. Rose Set For Rampage

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a first-time match-up between Britt Baker and Taya Valkyrie.

They started off with fast-paced back and forth that resulted in Valkryie taking control. She dropped Baker with a lackluster Road to Valhalla before delivering a number of elbow strikes on the mat heading into commercial break.

After the break, Baker maintained control with a ripcord elbow strike and pinfall attempt, but Taya quickly kicked out. They rose to their feet and traded forearm shots followed by kicks and knee strikes. Baker managed to hit Panama Sunset for a nearfall before she pulled out the glove.

Valkyrie bounced back with a spear and attempted Road to Valhalla again, but Baker reversed it into Lockjaw to score the submission victory after a 10-minute affair.

Nyla Rose and Hikaru Shida are set to renew their rivalry on Friday’s Rampage as they both are looking for a world title shot at Wembley Stadium. A women’s match has not yet been announced for Collision.

Dana Brooke Wins Kendo Stick Bout; Ripley Eradicates Valkyria

0

On this week’s NXT, Dana Brooke scored a big win over Cora Jade. The two went to battle for the second time, this time in a Kendo Stick match.

For the first half of the match, Jade was dominant and keeping Brooke down. However, the match started to take a turn when Kelani Jordan distracted Jade. The distraction gave Brooke the opportunity to hit a drop toe-hold on Jade into a chair. Jordan gave Brooke a pink kendo stick which she utilized on Jade’s back before hitting her with a suplex into a stack of kendo sticks that were piled up on the chair. Brooke got the win by hitting a Swanton Bomb on top of Jade and the kendo sticks/chair.

The main event match was the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley facing Lyra Valkyria in a non-title bout. Ripley prevailed as expected but Valkyria put on a great showing. A Riptide ended the match. After the match, Ripley still told Valkyria to make a statement against Jacy Jayne.

Eight Person Tag Match Added To GAB; Weapons Wild Match

On the final NXT episode before the Great American Bash this Sunday, an Eight Person Tag Team match was announced. It will be Meta-Four taking on Yulisa Leon, Valentina Feroz, Nathan Frazier, and Dragon Lee.

In a fight over who the true Heritage Cup holder is, Noam Dar called out the fact that he never lost to Frazier as it was Oro Mensah who was in that bout. The two sides would agree on a fight, but Meta-Four pointed out it is four against two.

Well the sides evened up once Feroz and Leon entered to mix and now we have an eight person tag team match for the premium live event.

Also at the event this Sunday we knew that Blair Davenport would be taking on Roxanne Perez. Their rivalry has become unglued and is showing a more vicious side of Perez. On this week’s NXT, surveillance footage showed both women in a brawl at a connivence store. It would be Perez who made the most of it as she stood tall at the end as she left when the police arrived.

This encounter between the two has led to a Weapons Wild stipulation at the GAB.

Lastly, as previously announced Tiffany Stratton will be defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Thea Hail in a submission match. You can view both promos from the competitors below.

Make sure to check back in with Diva Dirt this Sunday to talk about the GAB live.
