Two Women’s Matches Set For July 18 NXT

0

The rivalry between Kiana James and Gigi Dolin in NXT continues.

After a war of paint and office destruction, the two will go head-to-head again on tonight’s episode. The last time these two met, Dolin came out with the victory but it would be James that brought out the paint.

The second match announced is between Thea Hail and Elektra Lopez. Hail is trying to prove a point that she deserves a rematch against the NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. After all, Stratton did tap out!

Check back in tonight with Diva Dirt to talk about the show live.

Rousey Challenges Baszler For Match At SummerSlam

On the July 17 episode of Raw, Ronda Rousey challenged her former best friend Shayna Baszler to a match at SummerSlam.

The segment came after Baszler defeated Nikki Cross in about five seconds. Rousey called out Baszler after the match as she was in the upper part of the arena. Rousey continued the talk about how she used the back door to get into WWE while Baszler used the front. The difference is that per Rousey she got thrown to the wolves with little to no training and within a year became a future Hall of Famer.

Baszler responds by saying that she is a better version of Rousey. She wanted to fight Rousey right there but the Baddest Woman on the Planet declined. Rousey does want to see Baszler at SummerSlam tho. This way Baszler can actually be booked on SummerSlam according to Rousey.

Also on this week’s Raw, Maxxine Dupri was speared threw a table by Valhalla. During the Viking Rules match between Alpha Academy and the Viking Raiders, Dupri landed a crossbody on Valhalla and got her letterman jacket back. Valhalla didn’t take this lightly and speared Dupri threw a table sitting in the corner. The Viking Raiders would go on the win the match.

On Miz TV, he hosted Becky Lynch and talked about her downward spiral. He reminded her that she has lost to Trish Stratus, then lost Money in the Bank, and most recently lost to Zoey Stark last week.

Lynch wanted to cut to the chase and yelled at The Miz to just bring out Stratus and Stark. To which he did. Lynch wants another match with Stratus but Stratus doesn’t feel she has to honor that as she has already defeated her. Finally after Lynch made Stratus agree to another match, Stratus says in order for Lynch to get that she has to defeat Stark next week.

We also crowned new Women’s Tag Team Champions which you can read about here.

Deville & Green Win First WWE Gold As New Women Tag Team Champs

Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. On the July 17 episode of Raw, they defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to be crowned. This is the first gold for both Deville and Green in WWE.

Prior to the match taking place, Rodriguez and Morgan were being interviewed backstage. They were confronted by the Women’s World Champion who would head butt Morgan and then take out Rodriguez at the knee. Medical cleared Rodriguez to compete and she agreed to as she limped her way to the ring with Morgan to defend the titles.

The final moments of the match had Morgan isolated in the ring when Rodriguez was taken out at the injured knee outside of the ring. Morgan went to stack up Green for the win but she kicked out. Green executed a second UnprettyHer to Morgan as Deville hit the running knee for the exclamation point for the victory.

Deville and Green become the 17th team to hold the gold since its inception in 2019 and the 26th and 27th individuals who have been called tag champions.

Raw Discussion Post: 07.17.23

Welcome to this week’s Raw chat live.

We could have new tag team champions tonight as the team of Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green take on the champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgab. Could Deville and Green finally get their first piece of gold in WWE? Or will Raquel and Liv continue their reign.

Just week’s out from SummerSlam what’s next for feuds of Trish vs. Becky and Ronda vs Shayna.

Enjoy.

Bayley Reportedly Injured At WWE House Show

0

Bayley has been seemingly injured at a house show on Sunday night in Salisbury, Maryland.

In the match she was facing Charlotte Flair and Asuka with the WWE Women’s Title on the line. The match had to be halted after referee Jessika Carr threw up the “X” signaling injury. It is being said that Bayley was assisted to the back and the injury was to her knee.

Bayley had been previously out over a year due to an ACL tear and surgery. Hopefully this is less serious.

Diva Dirt will provide any further updates if they are revealed.

Athena vs. Willow Nightingale Confirmed For ROH Death Before Dishonor

ROH’s next big event Death Before Dishonor is July 21 and we have a women’s match confirmed. Athena will defend her ROH Women’s World Championship against Willow Nightingale.

Nightingale has been having a very successful year in 2023 by signing with AEW, becoming the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion and most recent winning the Owen Hart Cup. Now she wants to dethrone Athena.

Athena defeated Willow on the March 9 episode of ROH TV. Nightingale tied up the score at 1-1 when she defeated Athena in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Tournament on the July 14 episode of AEW Rampage.

Athena is about to become the longest reigning ROH Women’s World Champion as she approaches Mercedes Martinez’s reign of 220 days. She currently sits at 218.

Diva Dirt will provide results from this match.

DD Power 15: July 09 to July 15

0

Welcome to this week’s Power 15 Rankings curated by us here at Diva-Dirt. This week we are reviewing women’s action across several companies.

As well as the 15 women featured, two wildcards will be featured each week chosen by Nick and Gary. These wildcards are for women who didn’t quite make the ranking but are ones to watch for the week ahead. Without further ado, let’s get in to it.

Please Note: This list is subjective to us at Diva Dirt. We encourage our readers for respectful and enjoyable conversations.

Gary’s Wildcard – Kelani Jordan

After an impressive showing at live events and on LvL Up, Kelani Jordan has burst on to TV this week on NXT with a continued exhibition of her talents as she faced Cora Jade.

Jordan introduced herself to the NXT crowd in her singles debut with Dana Brooke rooting for her at ringside. While Jordan was not victorious, already getting on the main NXT show so early in her career is a sign of the faith the WWE have in her.

Nick’s Wildcard – Thea Hail

Thea Hail may not have won the NXT Women’s Championship recently but she did make Tiffany Stratton tap out and this week, the champion was booed out of the building with a taunting chant from the crowd reminding her of such.

Hail, backstage, would be emboldened by her Chase U comrades to demand a rematch and she would find herself assisting them to a much needed victory on NXT.

New Champions Crowned At IMPACT Slammiversary

IMPACT Slammiversary 2023 was full of title changes.

The night got started on the Countdown pre-show with a six-person tag bout pitting Jody Threat and The Death Dollz against Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans, and Jai Vidal.

Vidal slapped Jessicka early on, but he was met with a receipt. Courtney Rush was the damsel in distress for a while until Threat and Vidal got the hot tags. Threat also took care of Shaw before Jessicka wiped out Evans. In the end, Rush speared Vidal and pinned him for the win.

In the second match of the main card, Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly, now dubbed MK Ultra, battled The Coven for the Knockouts tag titles. Kelly and Wilde started the bout before each team tried double teaming early on.

Slamovich was able to unload with vicious offense to both Wilde and King, but King broke her cover on Wilde. Wilde nearly put Masha away with Witches Way before Kelly pulled King out of the ring. Slamovich countered Wilde and connected with Snow Plow to win the gold.

During Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian, Alisha attempted to use a kendo stick when Traci Brooks ran in with a spear and clothesline. Edwards ultimately won that bout after the ref got knocked out.

In the semi-main event of the evening, Deonna Purrazzo received a special entrance for her Knockouts World title defense against Trinity. They stayed evenly matched to start, but Purrazzo soon took over by targeting Trinity’s left arm for a period of time.

Trinity started her comeback by hitting “The Virtuosa” with a Samoan Drop. Purrazzo fired back with a piledriver in the ring and eventually the Queen’s Gambit on the apron. After a nearfall, Trinity took Purrazzo to the top rope for a Full Nelson Bomb before applying Starstruck to make the champ tap out for the first time in the company.

Willow Nightingale Wins 2023 Owen Hart Tournament

Willow Nightingale is your 2023 Owen Hart Tournament winner. In the finals that took place on the July 15 episode of AEW Collision it was Nightingale who defeated Ruby Soho in the finals.

The finish had a near fall for Soho as she delivered the No Future but Nightingale stayed in it. Nightingale followed up with the Doctor Bomb to get the victory. She defeated Nyla Rose and Athena to make it to the finals while Soho took out Britt Baker and Skye Blue.

STARDOM Name Backstage For AEW/ROH Tapings

Highly decorated STARDOM talent Utami Hayashishita is at tonight’s AEW shows/ROH tapings in Calgary. This is being reported by Fightful Select.

Fightful Select has learned that she’s scheduled to work a match at the tapings, but haven’t learned which one. With a lot of Collision and Battle of the Belts already announced, it’s likely Ring of Honor.

Utami has been spotted at the New Hart Dungeon in Florida training with Natalya, IYO SKY and other talents in the past week. In STARDOM, the 24 year old has held many titles and won best match award from STARDOM in 2020 from a match against Mayu Iwatani.

IMPACT Slammiversary Predictions: 07.15.23

IMPACT’s big summer event Slammiversary takes place tonight July 15. There are three matches set involving the Knockouts as follows –

Jody Threat and Death Dollz vs. Savannah Evans, Gisele Shaw, and Jai Vidal – Preshow

The Coven (c) vs. Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly – Knockouts World Tag Team Titles

Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Trinity – Knockouts World Title

Below are the predictions from the Diva Dirt staff-

Jody Threat and Death Dollz vs. Savannah Evans, Gisele Shaw, and Jai Vidal – Preshow

COLBY: I could get used to Gisele Shaw being in everyone’s business. After attempting to insert herself into the Knockouts title picture, she defeated Courtney Rush to kickstart this new tag feud. Jody Threat and Jai Vidal are now involved to make this a six-person tag bout that is sure to be entertaining bell to bell. Logic says Threat and The Death Dollz are probably going over, but I’m going with Shaw’s team as I want to see her and Savannah go after the tag team titles.

WINNERS: Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans & Jai Vidal

GARY: Shaw and Co are definitely the ones I would like to see win this match, I feel they need it just a little bit more but I just don’t see it happening! Dollz and Threat will get the victory, most likely with Jai Vidal eating the pin at the hands of Threat to keep her momentum going.

WINNERS: Jody Threat and Death Dollz

NICK: Generally in these instances I feel that Shaw and Co always tend to lose. So I will keep with that and say that Jody and Death Dollz will win. But a win for Shaw and Co wouldn’t hurt my feelings.

WINNERS: Jody Threat and Death Dollz

The Coven (c) vs. Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly – Knockouts World Tag Team Titles

COLBY: When Masha and Kelly were feuding prior to Slammiversary, I told a friend that I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up as tag team partners, especially because The Coven was lacking competition. Here we are! They’ve executed it well thus far with the new partners getting a little… kinky. The Coven have been fine as champions and I would like to see them have a longer reign with more competition. However, it’s hard to imagine Masha and Kelly losing here.

WINNERS: Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly

GARY: I think back to The Coven’s formation and the debut of KiLynn King against Killer Kelly who never really got her chance at revenge until now. The Coven have been fantastic champions but I can see this going to the new pairing of enemies turned allies as we crown new tag team champions! It’s the perfect revenge and a nice full circle moment for Kelly.

WINNERS: Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly

NICK: The KO tag division really needs more teams and I think throwing Masha and Kelly together (even tho I like them together) won’t solve the holes. However, I think it is time to move on from The Coven holding the gold and they will end up going back to chasing the gold.

WINNERS: Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly

Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Trinity – Knockouts World Title

COLBY: It should be the main event, and we’ll see if that happens. If so, it would be the third Knockouts PPV main event in a row! Trinity and Deonna have done an excellent job of making this an enticing babyface vs. babyface program. I feel like it’s hard to predict in a way, yet there’s an obvious chance here for Trinity to prove herself to the naysayers. Purrazzo was granted a do-over three years ago when she quickly won the title. Now it’s time to pass the torch in a sense.

WINNER: Trinity

GARY: Biggest event of the year for Impact, they are the Main Event, the stage is perfectly set for Trinity to climb atop the division as the new Knockouts Champion… which is why I hope it doesn’t happen yet. Stick with me for a moment, Trinity WILL be Knockouts Champion, it’s only a matter of time and this is arguably the perfect time to do it on such a grand stage but I’d rather Trinity fall short here, take her first loss in Impact (perhaps due to the interference of a returning wrestler?) I don’t want to fantasy book too much but I’d like something shocking to happen tonight and if Trinity wins, I’m not sure who she moves on to yet. My pick is Purrazzo but like many of you, I will be ecstatic if Trinity wins.

WINNER: Deonna Purrazzo

NICK: I don’t understand the people say it is “too soon” for Trinity to win the gold and in the same breath says her time with the company has been boring. Like what do y’all want? Anyway, Trinity winning here is a no brainer. She would be winning and defeating a 3 time champion. If that doesn’t put her over what will?

WINNER: Trinity

Results from Slammiversary will be up after the show tonight.

Storm vs. Valkyrie; Soho vs. Nightingale Set For Owen Hart Finals

AEW has two events taking place tonight. First is their weekly Collision show and then will be the next installment of Battle of the Belts.

On the July 14 episode of Rampage, Willow Nightingale defeated the ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.

This has her facing Ruby Soho in the finals tonight on Collision. One of those two women will become the second Owen Hart Cup winner. Britt Baker won last year in yhe inaugural tournament. Athena was not happy to say the least that she didn’t make it to the finals.

Also developed on Rampage was the match for tonight’s Battle of the Belts. Taya Valkyrie will be challenging Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Title.

Asuka Retains Via DQ; Shotzi Shaves Her Head

Asuka defended her WWE Women’s Championship in the main event against Bianca Belair on this week’s SmackDown.

To kick off the show, Belair took to the ring for a promo. After getting the crowd hyped up, Charlotte Flair made her way out to the ring. The two exchanged words with Flair telling Belair that she is manifesting a Belair win tonight. Why? Because Flair wants first shot at Belair when she becomes champion. Belair, leary of agreeing to this, stated that if she wins the title in the main event then she will accept Flair’s challenge at SummerSlam.

As the match starts in the main event, we see IYO SKY with her Money in the Bank briefcase as well as Bayley who purchased a ticket to be in the front row. Moments later, Flair made her entrance on the other side of the crowd with a ticket in hand.

Final momenta of the match had Asuka catch Belair with a knee strike before going for a Fujiwara Arm Bar. Belair reversed it and planted a spinebuster on Asuka for a near fall. Asuka tried to go for a submission again, but Belair broke the hold. Asuka caught Belair with a Code Breaker. The action spilled to the outside where Belair would land a KOD to the champion onto the announce table.

This outside action caused both SKY and Bayley to hop the barricade. Flair did as well and landed a big boot to Bayley. SKY slammed Flair into the ring post before turning her attention to Belair. SKY locked eyes on Belair, but she got out of the way before Flair speared Belair, causing the disqualification.

After the bell rang, SKY realizes that everyone is down including the current champion Asuka. She intends to cash in as Bayley holds the briefcase for her. SKY gets Ausuka back in the ring and sets her up for a moonsault. As SKY climbs up top, Bayley tries to tell the referee that SKY is cashing in. However, Asuka gets up and mists the eyes of Bayley which allows her to escape with her title and no cash in taking place.

Earlier in the night, Bayley took on Zelina Vega with SKY by her side.

The final moments of this match had Vega get hung up in the ropes by Bayley who was on the outside. Back in the ring, Bayley capitalized and hit the Rose Plant for the win. Bayley came to the ring for this match with the piece of Shotzi’s hair that she cut a couple weeks back.

Post match, a vignette of Shotzi appeared on the screen. Shotzi pulled out the hair razor and stated she is in control and not Bayley. She admits to being a little strange but that’s why she has the control. She continues to shave her head and says some people fear change but she invites it.

Michin and Scarlett was also on the show as Karrion Kross and Scarlett attacked The OC backstage during AJ Styles match.

Check back in with Diva Dirt for more news and results from the women of SmackDown.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 07.14.23

Tonight’s SmackDown will have the WWE Women’s Championship on the line as Asuka defends against Bianca Belair.

Belair has been waiting for a rematch since she lost the gold to Asuka at Night of Champions. Charlotte Flair swooped in and got the first shot and her match was ruled a DQ after Belair interfered.

Don’t forgot that IYO SKY also has the briefcase and could easily use it amongst any chaos.

As always, feel free to join the chat below.

Mercedes Mone Reportedly Set To Face Giulia Upon Her Return to the Ring

0

Mercedes Mone is currently out with an injury and although her return date is still unknown, it is being reported that she will have a big match when she is back.

Mone has been out of action since May when she suffered an injury in her match with Willow Nightingale. That match was for the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Championship which Nightingale won. Currently, STARDOM’s Giulia has won the belt and become the second champion.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer is reporting that the current plans is for Mone to return and challenge Giulia for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. Giulia defeated Nightingale at NJPW STRONG Independence Day earlier this month. In a report from Fightful Select, Mone was supposed to becoming the inaugural champion but plans obviously shifted to Nightingale when the injury took place.

In other news on Mone, she is expected to be backstage at IMPACT’s upcoming Slammiversary event on July 15. Mike Johnson of PWInsider states that she will be in attendance to support Trinity who will be challenging Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT’s Knockouts Title. It has been common for both Trinity and Mone to be backstage for each other during their big moments in their respective companies.

Knockouts Title Open Challenge Ends In Chaos Before Slammiversary

The final episode of IMPACT before Slammiversary concluded with Deonna Purrazzo putting her Knockouts World Championship on the line in an open challenge. Her opponent? Jody Threat.

The two showcased their confidence at the start before Threat took control. Purrazzo was able to turn things around with a Side Russian Legsweep and Fujiwara armbar, which weakened her challenger.

They each attempted their own finishers but were met with counters. Threat drove Purrazzo into the mat after breaking free from another armbar. The champ remained resilient, though, and trapped Threat in the Venus de Milo to retain.

As Purrazzo and Threat were celebrating, Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans, and Jai Vidal attacked the two. This brought out The Death Dollz, followed by The Coven and eventually Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly. Trinity ran down to clear the ring and then came face to face with Purrazzo. When they both reached for the title, Deonna threw the first shot and referees had to break them up.

Below is the final advertised card for Slammiversary on Saturday:

  • Knockouts World Championship: Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Trinity
  • Knockouts World Tag Team Championship: The Coven (c) vs. Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly
  • Countdown Match: Jody Threat & The Death Dollz vs. Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans & Jai Vidal
  • Alisha Edwards and Traci Brooks will be ringside for Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian

Trinity Talks Upcoming Knockouts World Title Match

Trinity has become very popular among the IMPACT crowd since joining the promotion as the latest Knockout. Since her debut in April. She has gone on to defeat members of the division such as KiLynn King, Gisele Shaw, and Savannah Evans. However, Trinity’s biggest challenge is coming this Saturday at Slammiversary where she will be facing Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts World Title.

While speaking with IMPACT Slammiversary Press Pass, Trinity was asked what would she do if she didn’t beat the three-time Knockouts Champion Purrazzo.

“That is a great question. I actually have not even asked myself that. I feel like if I’m going into this match already thinking that I’m defeated or that I may not make it or I may not make it or I may not win or I’m not capable, then this ain’t the match for me, I don’t even need to be here. So I’ll cross that bridge when I get there, but I’m not even going there in my mind. I need to keep my confidence up because I am going to need everything positive and focused going against her. I don’t wanna allow any what if or negativity to even start to seep in at this point. The buildup is so strong, and I just want to stay this way until Saturday. I ain’t trying to answer that, I’m not even gonna try to put that into the universe because all I’m telling myself is I’m gonna win. I have to win. This match is a career-defining match for me. I feel like the goods, bads, ups and downs and indifferent all brought me to this moment with Deonna, so I have to make it happen by any means necessary.” (Fightful)

The event takes place this Saturday July 15. Other matches include –

Jody Threat & Death Dollz vs. Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans, and Jai Vidal

Knockouts World Tag Team Titles – The Coven (c) vs. Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly

Check back in with Diva Dirt this weekend for results from the show.

Ruby Soho Advances To 2023 Owen Hart Cup Finals

The July 12 episode of AEW Dynamite featured Ruby Soho vs. Skye Blue in an Owen Hart Cup semi-finals about.

Blue was scrappy in the beginning and managed to kick Toni Storm and Saraya from the apron. But when Storm decided to interfere, the referee caught her and ejected The Outcasts from ringside.

Soho took control from there, targeting Blue’s left knee with a half crab. Blue escaped and planted Soho face-first on the mat, which appeared to have injured Soho’s nose again… But it was all a ruse as Soho suckered Skye in for No Future and the subsequent three-count.

Friday’s Rampage will feature a Toni Storm appearance, plus Athena vs. Willow Nightingale to determine who will face Soho in the Owen Hart Cup finals on Saturday’s Collision. This will be the second year in a row that Soho has competed in the finals after she came up short to Britt Baker last year.

Diva Dirt will have the results up following this event.

Women’s Tag Team Title Match Set For July 17; Stark Defeats Lynch

In case you missed the July 10 episode of Raw, you missed another Monday night with a decent amount of women’s content.

First, the match between Zoey Stark and Becky Lynch which was possible nixed – did actually take place. And luckily for fans it did as it was a great match between the two. Highly competitive match which ended in Stark getting the big victory. After Trish Stratus distracted Lynch who went after her on the outside, Stark rolled up Lynch in the ring to get the three count.

The second match of the night was much shorter in time as Emma was defeated by Shayna Baszler. Prior to the match, a backstage moment was shown as Emma tried to be on the side of Baszler saying she took Ronda Rousey to her limits when she returned last year. Baszler wasn’t buying it and challenged her to this match. Emma started the match strong but quickly ended up in the Kirifuda Clutch to tap out.

After the match, Rousey’s music hit and Baszler welcomed her to get in the ring. Both ladies were left to brawl for what seemed to be longer than the match itself. Baszler would be the one to leave the ring and head up the ramp as the two continued to exchange words.

Prior to the next match, the Women’s Tag Team Champions were greeted by Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville backstage. Green and Deville wanted to know why Morgan and Rodriguez were going to be ringside for their upcoming match. The champs simply wanted to check the competition out.

The Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley emerged and got in Rodriguez’s face. She warned her to stay out of her business and to not get a third strike. Which to Green meant a basketball reference. Morgan and Rodriguez both let Ripley know that they aren’t afraid of her.

A third women’s match was between Green & Deville vs. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. Two teams who have been getting very familiar with one another. Green and Deville continued their winning ways as they pinned Chance together to get the win with Deville hold down Green’s feet on the ropes.

Maxxine Dupri received a graduation ceremony by the Alpha Academy. The woman who is undefeated in WWE was about to be presented with a jacket, the last jacket she will ever need, when Valhalla attacked her from behind and stole her threads.

Liv Morgan & Scarlett At Barbie Premiere; Carmella Walks Runway

0

The women of WWE continue to pop up at events outside of the wrestling world.

First, both Scarlett and one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan appeared on the red carpet for the Barbie movie premium. Barbie comes to life on July 21 as Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling play Barbie and Ken. You can see the photos of Scarlett and Liv below.

Carmella who has been out due to pregnancy has walked the runway. She walked in the Miami Swim week at six months pregnant giving other mothers the courage to know that life doesn’t stop just because you are pregnant or a mother.

Raw Discussion Post: 07.10.23

Tonight’s Raw had originally scheduled a match between Becky Lynch and Zoey Stark. That match is rumored to not be taking place now do to a minor injury to Lynch. We’ll see if the match does in fact take place or not.

Also scheduled is a Graduation Ceremony for Maxxine Dupri.

Possible other women we may see on the show i includes Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Chelsea Green, Sonya Deville, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan.
