TNA’s Rhaka Khan Calls Cops on Kurt Angle

40

TNA Knockout, Rhaka Khan placed a phone call to police this morning that saw the company’s World Heavyweight Champion, Kurt Angle arrested. WPXI News based out of Pittsburgh reports:

According to a criminal complaint, his girlfriend had filed a protection from abuse order against Angle, which was served at his home on Saturday morning.

The woman reported to police that she was at a Starbucks on the internet, when she claims she saw Angle stalking her.

She called 911, and police pulled over Angle in his girlfriend’s car.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson confirms that the girlfriend in question is a TNA performer. Angle has been in a relationship with Khan — real name Trenesha Biggers — for quite sime time, he even confirmed this himself on Howard Stern’s radio show. The pair began dating after Angle split with wife and former Knockout, Karen.

Khan hasn’t been seen on TNA television for several months though she last competed at a house show last month.

This whole situation is just shocking…

EDIT: Hollywood tabloid, The Insider has revealed even more details:

There was an altercation at the home of Kurt Angle involving Angle and girlfriend Trenesha Biggers, aka TNA’s Rhaka Khan. Biggers went to police and filed a protection from abuse order against Angle, and police came and removed Angle from the home this morning.

At around 8AM, Biggers called police again, stating that Angle was stalking her. She had gone to a Starbucks to use the internet, and told police that Angle had her phone and had been circling the parking lot. She claimed Angle was deleting photos from the phone, which were described as “pictures of abuse”.

Angle was questioned by police, under suspicion of DUI, and when they searched the vehicle, they found used syringes and two vials of HGH. Angle claimed that he had a prescription for the medication, and could provide that to police.

At first, I was just shocked and didn’t know what to think but ‘pictures of abuse’ makes it seem like we’re looking at a Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. I have no tolerance for domestic violence and I can’t sugarcoat my words, I hope the asshole gets what’s coming to him.

The Week in Fashion: Best & Worst Dressed for August 15th

bestworstdressed

It’s a staple of tabloid magazines: hard hitting, investigative & highly entertaining! Best & Worst Dressed lists can make or break careers in Hollywood and for a site with ‘Dirt’ in the title, it’s only fitting we take this time tested feature & apply it to our Divas! Each week we’ll bring you the best and worst looks from the week gone by, it’s pretty simple right?

Key: School-like grading scheme

Not a bad week for outfits/attire this week. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by a few. Let’s dive in:

Raw’s Alicia Fox brought back the blue to her wardrobe and what can I say, it’s definitely her colour. Bright, electric blue suits her a lot. C

The usually overlooked ECW drew my attention this week also, as Katie Lea showed us the right way to wear leopard print *cough* I wouldn’t wear it myself, but Katie has been rocking her own unique style since moving to ECW and it works for her. C+

Hart Dynasty Diva, Natalya has pretty much been rocking the same pink and black top, pants and jacket for the past few months so it was nice to see her change it up this week. The tattered tee looked really cool and the design is eye catching. B-

It’s two for two for Melina, as she sports another great top this week. However I much prefer this one. I don’t know why she doesn’t wear more yellow, it’s not a colour that suits everyone, but Melina works the hell out of it. A-

Melina’s opponent for the night rocked the Nattie colours this week, in hot pink. Layla always has a great sense of style and manages to bring a look together. I’m really not a fan of hot pink, but Layla brings it altogether with the black rims with studs. My favourite part would be the boot covers that you can’t see in the above picture, it brings a sense of completion and I’m very much a fan of uniformity in an outfit. A

ROH Taping Spoilers From Last Night [Nikki Roxx’s Debut]

Ring of Honor taped some episodes of it’s HDNet series last night, including the debut of the newest Woman of Honor — Nikki Roxx, the former Roxxi in TNA. Not sure when it will air but we’ll give you advance warning before it does:

Sara Del Rey defeated Nikki Roxx.

Nikki blows like three moves right to start, but hits a stiff chop on Sara, which Sara responds to with a rolling kick to the chest. Sara stomps away at Nikki in the corner, then Beel Tosses Nikki across the ring by the hair. Snap suplex gets 2 for Sara. They big boot one another in the face simultaneously as the fans start chanting Roxxi. They’re not supposed to chant that! Nikki with a chinbreaker and a roaring forearm, followed by an atomic drop and a beautiful exploder suplex for 2. Nikki goes for the Barbie Crusher, but Sara escapes, hits a high kick to the head, and then the Butterfly Powerslam for 3. [Source: PWInsider]

SmackDown Redux (August 14th, 2009) – Shoot the Messenger

You might have noticed that I decided to forgo a Redux last week, as there was no match on the show, and analyzing a mere backstage segment with no real bearing on the women’s division would be akin to giving G.I. Joe a thorough character analysis–there just ain’t no point. However, this week’s SmackDown started off quite inauspiciously with what else but another MARIA-CENTERED BACKSTAGE SEGMENT!!!! *cue Psycho theme* Jump to the 1:00 mark to watch:

I feel silly for really “reviewing” this, but I figure it might lead to something eventually, so I’ll just go for it. Maria‘s gushing about Dolph, and Melina smiles, playing the supportive friend. It feels so strange to see her even care, since I’m so conditioned to her nasty heel attitude. At this point, I’d kill for her bitch side to take over–it’d keep segments like these to a minimum.

And just as I pray for daylight, Layla comes in to save the day. She plays the catty heel pretty well (“YAYYYYY FOR LOVE!”) and, like Melina did last week, warns Maria against Dolph, for for much different reasons. Apparently, the glorified Oompah Loompah twin is a hot commodity backstage, and Maria may not be hot enough to hold him. And shifting to more important matters, Layla delivers a message to Melina: Michelle will be back next week. It’s kind of funny, though, because it’s a minuscule version of what I suggested they do with Melina/Michelle/Layla earlier this week. Melina seems unenthused at the news, but I’m doing backflips. Melina tells Layla that she has a message for Layla to send back to Michelle, and she’ll give it to her in the ring. OH, IT’S ON NOW!

The Tiffany Guide to Impact: The Ladies in Red

impact_81309

Last night’s edition of TNA Impact sought the anticipated return of Christy Hemme.  Impact kicks off with Christy making her ever so energetic way to the ring (still donning her Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 attire) to an ever accessible Sojourner Bolt.

The match starts off with an exchange of hairpulling and headlocks as a test of strength.  Christy takes Sojo down for the headlock, but Sojo counters into a headscissors submission.  Christy powers out and puts the split-legged boot to Sojo for the 2-count.  Christy takes a moment to situate a wedgie as Sojo finds her way to the ropes.  Sojo runs the ropes and then proceeds to slam Christy down onto the mat.  She takes her down for a backbreaker that renders a near-fall.  Sojo leads Christy into a choke against the ropes.  Some chants “Lets go Christy” chants resonate the arena as Sojo nails a slingshot elbow onto her opponent.  She sets Christy up for a powerbomb, but Christy sandbags and sends Sojo over with a back drop.  Sojo lands rather…dangerously and nearly on her head.  Unconcerned, Christy riles up the crowd and then drops Sojo with a forearm and a spinning kneel-out facebuster.  Christy misses a clothesline, but manages an uninspired cross body block.  In what seems to be some failure in communication, Sojo cannot seem to muster up the strength to lift Christy, which results in a blown spot.  So, Sojo charges Christy into the corner, instead.  Sojo heaves Christy to the top turnbuckle.  She attempts a superplex, but Christy knocks her down.  Christy lands the “Flying Firecrotch Guillotine” (yes folks you read that right, the FFG) onto Sojo for the win.

Watch the match below:

Not the most impressive match, and we all pretty much knew the result going into it, but it was decent for what it was.  Christy and her boobs looked good (can’t really comment on the firecrotch, though).  Plus, Christy looks extremely pleased to be back home on the active roster:

I’m sure fans can’t wait to see what just might be in store for Christy now that’s she’s back.

Next up is the Four-Corners match among ODB, Victoria, Awesome Kong, and the Knockouts Champion Angelina Love.

Watch that match and more after the cut:

Raw Redux Does WWE Superstars (August 13, 2009)

superstars13aug09

The Divas got the main event last night… though calm down, it’s not that auspicious because the show was WWE Superstars. Plus they had to share it with the men, so even less auspicious. All in all, Divas Champion Mickie James and Rosa Mendes came off as an afterthought [now there’s a shock] to their male counterparts.

Regardez:

That Rosa Mendes, quite the hellion, isn’t she? Girl, if you don’t have the moves to back yourself up, please don’t step to the Divas Champion. But she did! There was a nice exchange to kick off the match, with Carlito and Kofi Kingston pulling apart the two Divas. And as you can see in the image above, Rosa shoots a scowl that would make a serpent blush.

Officiating this match, you may have noticed, is the same referee that does all the Divas matches [including this week’s Raw and SmackDown]. He really should just get a t-shirt that reads “Official Diva Mascot.”

Anyhoo, after some wrestling between Carlito & Kofi that I skipped through, we get a tag from Carlito to Rosa which means Mickie has to come in too. The Divas Champ wastes no time, throwing Rosa over the top rope, the rookie lands awkwardly. Mickie gets things off to a good start, with a clothesline then a double forearm on Mendes. The Latina however fights back with a knee to the gut, Mickie hits a baseball slide and snapmares Rosa. A nice front dropkick by Mickie.

Rosa gets to her feet and hits an awkward looking elbow to Mickie’s face, followed by a double axehandle and a shimmy. Yes, a shimmy.

A few exchanges between the two as Rosa has Mickie on the canvas and locks in a headlock. Mickie begins to mount fan support and counters the sleeper. Rosa throws Mickie into the corner, Mickie uses her leg to stop herself from eating turnbuckle, turns back and we have a head-on collision. Rosa quickly tags out to Carlito and that’s pretty much your lot, save for the standard catfight near the end.

So what have we learnt from this week’s show? Not a lot. Not too much Divas action in there so I left feeling a little ‘eh’. Not to mention the prospect of Rosa vs Mickie isn’t all too exciting, let’s be honest. Rosa still needs to work on her timing & her selling, she tends to land awkwardly and I fear one day she may hurt herself.

If you’re feeling as underwhelmed as I, there’s a fun yet random Melanie observation after the cut:

Superstars & Impact Feedback (August 13th, 2009)

superstarsimpact

Big night of women’s wrestling tonight, as WWE Superstars and Impact boast matches featuring your favourite Divas/Knockouts.

WWE Superstars tonight features Carlito & Rosa Mendes teaming up against SummerSlam 2008 tag team partners, Kofi Kingston and Mickie James.

Impact has advertised a fatal-four way between Angelina Love, Awesome Kong, ODB and Tara. Also teased is a ‘bombshell that will knock you out’.

Use this post to discuss your thoughts on the two shows!

Who’s to Blame for Michelle’s Injury?

25

everollup

A source at the scene of the SmackDown house show where Michelle McCool was injured, e-mailed into Diva Dirt with more details of the incident that saw McCool tweak her left knee.

We’re told McCool’s opponent on the night, Eve Torres is at fault after a botched roll-up on the Women’s Champion. “Eve didn’t look good, she stumbled through the match and then screwed up the roll-up. You could tell instantly from Michelle’s face something had gone wrong.”

A second source confirms to Diva Dirt that Torres’  ‘akward’ roll-up was the cause, adding: “She [Michelle] rolled out of the ring immediately and looked to be in a lot of pain.”

Our second source says it best: “They shouldn’t let girls in the ring if they can’t do basic moves. So she can do a moonsault – big deal.”

Michelle is set to return to SmackDown next week.

Something We Missed: Ayako Hamada’s Debut Set [For Real This Time]

4

ayako-hamada

Looks like we missed out on some exciting news this time last week, as Jeremy Borash tweeted about one Ayako Hamada. The newly signed Knockout is set to debut after this Sunday’s Hard Justice pay per view.

Expect the Knockouts Division to get more physical with the arrival of “Hamada” from Japan. She will be starting after the Hard Justice PPV

That would put Hamada’s debut over the course of the three day Impact taping which runs from Monday-Thursday night.

In bonus Knockout news, Christy Hemme‘s return to TNA airs tonight on Impact as does the second women’s fatal four way of the week.

Roundtable (August 13, 2009) – Recording Mess Up, Text Recap

4

roundtable

Unfortunately, there won’t be a Roundtable this week, though not through a lack of trying. There was a software error that meant the conversation didn’t get recorded and I didn’t realise till just now when I tried to play it back.

The Roundtable returns next week with new discussion topics.

To read what we talked about on this week’s non-show, follow the cut:

JR: Gail Kim Could Be ‘Stratus-Like’

21

jr

Everyone’s favourite Hall of Fame commentator, Jim Ross has once again struck gold in his blog! On a week that saw JR being praised as a ‘lockerroom hero’ due to his outspoken and often anti-management thoughts on WWE’s current direction, he hits another home run this time by turning his attention to the women’s division.

In the process, JR talks up some of our favourite Divas, boldly suggesting that Gail Kim has the potential to be ‘Stratus-like’:

Gail Kim really impressed me on Monday’s Raw (Love the DVR) and has the potential to be “Stratus-like” if the stars can become properly aligned. Kim’s unique look and her athleticism are obviously marketable. WWE Divas having more in ring exposure is a bona fide way to get the audience to emotionally invest in these ladies as more than just simply “Smart, Sexy, and Powerful.” (Oh, my!)

Oh, my indeed! If there was any justice in the world, her current spot would be the start of a long run at the top for our G-Kim. Gail was bordering on ‘Trish-like’ qualities during her TNA run, so we know it’s there and she can rise to the challenge.

JR also talks up two fellow Diva Dirt favourites, ahead of their match on Friday night’s episode of SmackDown:

Layla, Eric Clapton’s favorite WWE Diva, (fellow Brit you know) shows marked improvement in the ring this week in a bout versus Melina who never disappoints with at least one Sharapova-like primal scream. One loud outburst just may have frightened my broadcast partner but I can’t be sure as he was wearing a dark suit.

It’s nice to know someone in WWE notices these things. Melina has stepped up her game since November last year, as I noted on last week’s Roundtable, and has been such a consistent hard-worker ever since. The intensity she has shown since coming back is unbelievable and if there’s any justice [there’s that phrase again!] she would get the Slammy for Diva of the Year in December.

As for Layla, I ♥ her and have since she first burst on the scene. She has improved a lot in the past few months since moving to SmackDown and is seeing more & more in-ring time. Sure, she may be losing but that’s not an issue for me. Working with girls like Melina, Michelle, Natalya and Katie can only help her get better and that’s what she should concentrate on.

Exclusive: Dishin’ Dirt with SHIMMER’s Daizee Haze

8

daizee2

Diva Dirt‘s Steven had the opportunity to speak with SHIMMER veteran, Daizee Haze in an exclusive interview. Daizee discusses being SHIMMER’s head trainer, a future in WWE or TNA and even tries her hand at her own Wrestlicious rap!

First off, thank you Daizee for taking the time out to do this  interview with us. Let’s get right into things: What inspired you to get  into wrestling?
Daizee:
Well as a kid I was never allowed to watch wrestling, so it wasn’t something I dreamed of doing or becoming. It wasn’t until 2001 that I was exposed to wrestling and it was the technical amateur style and athleticism that caught my eye, but I saw the way women were portrayed and I wanted to change that.

Who are your idols in the ring, past or present?
Daizee:
When I started watching wresting in 2001 Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit were the two that caught my eye and impressed me the most. As far as women go, Molly Holly is probably the woman I admire the most.  Jim Cornette is fabulous all around. Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels are awesome together. And the All Japan women are just on a whole other level.

Last year, we saw you take on Cheerleader Melissa in a match on TNA Impact. How was it performing on such a widely known program?  Were you ever offered a contract or was that a one shot deal?
Daizee:
Well I worked for TNA quite a few times when they ran the weekly pay per view out of the Nashville Fairground.  Delirious, Matt Sydal [WWE’s Evan Bourne] and I spent two years going down to there every Wednesday doing dark matches for their Xplosion programme.  So I made a lot of connections over those years, so once they moved to Universal, people were pushing for me to get down there. It was a last minute thing, I think Jazz was supposed to do those tapings but had something come up and couldn’t make it, so Chris [Park, TNA’s Abyss] called me up to see if I could stand in for Jazz and I agreed.  It was a great experience and I am close with alot of the guys and girls down there so it was fun to see everyone and I thought Melissa and I had a pretty good match. I received a lot of positive feedback but never had any kind of follow up with them. When Gail Kim left the company, I know I had a handful of girls including Gail Kim and Traci Brooks that were pushing for me to come in to take her ‘athletic babyface’ position, but I never heard anything from them.

Kevin Nash Searching for ‘2010 Miss Elizabeth’

3

tracinash

You may have heard of Kevin Nash’s ‘Big Sexy Tour’ search to find a valet for him at the December TNA pay per view. Well, until now we had chosen to ignore it, perhaps because it sounds more like a glorified search to find someone for him to bang. But Nash added some substance to the proceedings in an interview with three8six.com‘s Jeff Wilen, noting he wants to find a ‘2010 Miss Elizabeth‘. Read below:

In my heart, the ultimate valet was Miss Elizabeth. I would love to have a 2010 version of Miss Elizabeth. If I had to say what I’m really looking for, that kind of class, that dignity, that presence, that charisma, that girl-next-door-look to her. Maybe she (Miss Elizabeth) was just that one in a million. I think there’s a place in our business for that one girl that is different. I don’t want her taking bumps. I don’t want her wrestling. I want her to be a good angel that sits on my shoulder that directs me to do the right thing. That’s going to be the key. I hope she has some acting ability and acting background. I’m not looking for a 25-year old (necessarily). Debbie Kruck would be perfect.

All this for just a one night gig? Perhaps not! Nash also adds that one of our beloved ex-Divas, Torrie Wilson [who he discovered] was only meant to do a one night stint in WCW — and we all know how that turned out!

It’s being presented as a one-time thing. If we find a diamond in the rough, it could lead to a permanent position. … I remember seeing Torrie Wilson in Gold’s Gym in California and we took her to the L.A. Forum, I brought her backstage and had her walk into the ring with (Scott) Steiner. (And the rest is history.)

So could you be the next Miss Elizabeth or Torrie Wilson? Send in your application to [email protected], including a picture and an essay [yes, an essay — I thought the idea was to stand around and look hot?] on why you should be Nash’s valet [there aren’t that many reasons, let’s be honest]. Don’t let it be said that Nash doesn’t know how to treat a lady, he sure showed Traci a rockin’ good time.

Kristal to Follow in Bobby’s Footsteps?

9

kristalIf you’re following former WWE Diva, Kristal Marshall on Twitter, you’ll have noticed that she’s teasing making a ‘debut soon’. Could Bobby Lashley’s baby mama be heading to TNA too? She writes:

I’m gonna make a debut soon… Where could it be

Then again, it could simply be some innuendo to get sites like this talking, when she’s in fact referring to something else. Kristal has been enjoying a lot of success in fitness modelling since leaving WWE and giving birth to her son with Bobby.

Her body is totally banging right now so she’d definitely fit into TNA in that sense. Not to mention she’s dropped that crazy ass weave. But her wrestling ability is a whole other subject. Perhaps she could manage Bobby?

For our first ‘Your Diva Dirt’ post, we have a great look at SHIMMER stars Allison Danger, Daizee Haze and Rebecca Knox by Steven_D:

yourdd_dangerFeuds From The Vault: Allison Danger & Daizee Haze vs. Rebecca Knox
Feuds from the vault returns this week and on its second outing I’ll be writing on little known Irish born Rebecca Knox and her enthralling encounters with Allison Danger and Daizee Haze.

The K-Nox arrived on Shimmer shores in 2006 from Ireland and was a technically orientated athlete. Not only was she a Queens of Chaos champion but she held the ECCW Women’s championship for over nine months.

Mirroring the success of her rival; Allison Danger is no stranger to a title and is also a technically gifted athlete in her own right. She has held the ICWA Ladies Championship along with several other accolades.

The two compliment each other perfectly which added a lot to their matches, despite not being the longest feud. It was one of the best in Shimmer, through match performances alone.

Trying to do the matches justice is no easy feat, the technical ability of the two ladies is almost unrivalled in the independent scene in America.

Where better to begin than Shimmer Volume 3 and Knox’s debut match in Shimmer taking on (the dilute Canadian) Allison Danger.

Shimmer Volume three and the stage was set, with the traditional light hearted start to the match over. The fans were behind both competitors and they begin their technical showcase. The style of both women compliment each other and it is apparent from the onset.

It’s almost an obvious fact that when someone steps into the ring with Allison Danger they are going to be put over and well. This was no different, even though they were on par with one another but to me the experience of Danger gave her a slight edge. The fans in attendance seemed to be impartial as the match was relatively even throughout the early going. However as Rebecca Knox contemplates grabbing the ropes the fans gasp, is this signs of thing to come from the crowd?

Raw Redux (August 10th, 2009) – Divas Eat Gail’s Defeat

30

rawredux10aug09

So that Raw match. Bit of alright, wasn’t it? Last night’s show saw Gail Kim become the #1 Contender for the Divas Championship, in one of the best Raw matches of the year. The Divas involved including Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly put on quite a show in the ring and out of it.

From the outset, the Divas got a nice rhythm going, setting the tone for the rest of the match. It seems like they took the time to choreograph the match meticulously and plan spots for all four girls involved and that’s a great thing. Usually in these matches someone tends to get lost in the shuffle, but they did a great job here of giving each Diva something to do and they all looked great.

Kicking off with Kelly and Beth in one corner and Alicia and Gail in the other. Kelly gets an early start on her screaming, going for a hurricanrana on Beth into a pin but Beth kicks out and goes for a Glam Slam very early on. I like her style, it shows that she’s trying to pick off each of the Divas from the outset and trying to secure the #1 Contendership. Nice logic. Gail interrupts and we see a succession of rollups; I gotta be honest, this fell flat for me but it seems to have worked in getting the crowd into it with all the rollups from each of the girls. This is followed by an awesome tilt-a-whirl backbreaker by Alicia on Gail, these two have always had tremendous chemistry and Alicia can go in that ring with the best of them.

With Gail out of the ring, the heels turn their attention to the ‘innocent’ Kelly Kelly, who shows Trish Stratus-like courage in trying to fight off both Divas. This was a nice change of pace from what we had just seen, with Fox and Phoenix crowding around her and Kelly trying to scout the both of them. Beth grabs Kelly in a headlock and warns Alicia off, and the feisty newcomer isn’t taking that lying down. Alicia shows she’s not afraid of the Glamazon, hitting her with a boot to the face, but then gets hit with an awesome missile dropkick from Kim.

Scott D’Amore Returns to TNA & Knockouts!

9

damoreTNA has rehired Scott D’Amore, the man who was behind the initial stages of the Knockouts division [and helped put together those awesome Gail-Kong matches].

D’Amore is set to return at Hard Justice, according to PWInsider and will once again resume his duties over the Knockouts division as road agent.

If you’re not familiar with the technical side of things, this is basically fantastic news for all involved. D’Amore helped shape the division when it first began and really believed in and understood the women in the company. His guidance will hopefully help the Knockouts even further. I think he can really help the Tara-Kong matches and hopefully have them deliver something on par with those earlier greats.

Interesting timing considering our Saturday Supplement this past weekend, where our Tiffany argued whether TNA had lost it’s edge. With such a growing roster of talented girls [look at newcomers Tara, Sarita, Alissa] and now D’Amore back in position, I certainly think the Knockouts division can get back to those ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ they first got.

Random Observations from Raw

5

rawobs

Whenever I watch wrestling, my mind begins to whir and think all these things that aren’t actually important. It’s like word vomit of the mind. But don’t worry, Desperate Housewives has taught me that in a few years I can pop my kids’ ADD pills. Only joking… kinda.

So as I watched last night’s fatal four-way, yup you guessed it, mind vomit. So I thought I’d share some of my ~random observations~ from Raw with you. Think of it as the retarded cousin of the Raw Redux, if you will.

– Why are all the videos of the match on YouTube f’d up? FML.
– That referee has been calling all the Divas matches on Raw & SmackDown for the past few weeks. He’s either very bad at his job or very lucky, can’t decide which.
– Nice to see Kelly Kelly dress the part this week.
– Either Lilian lights up a doobie before the show or she knows she’s going soon and doesn’t give a fuck anymore. ‘Alicia Keys’, really?
– I’m sorry, I must’ve changed the channel to ‘Rollupalooza’
– Alicia stepping to Beth Phoenix proves that our ‘Alicia Fierce’ nickname is in fact true. *Dusts shoulder off*
– I’m thinking Gail still watches Impact, because that crossbody was a challenge to Sarita.
– Remember when Kelly couldn’t hit the handpsring elbow?
– Anyone else feeling airsick?
– Three Diva pile-up or three weave pile-up? You decide.
– Beth Phoenix climbing the turnbuckle must have been what it felt like to see King Kong climb the Empire State Building. [Yes, I do realise King Kong is fictional]
– I do hope the bottom of Gail’s boots are clean. Wouldn’t it suck if she had a big ole piece of gum stuck on it and Foxy had to have that all up in her facial area.
– Gail’s post-win ‘prayer’ position could also be interpreted as “Thank you God for not giving me my period during a match.”
– It could also be interpreted as constipation.

More ~serious~ thoughts on Raw later today in the Raw Redux.

WWE Superstars Spoilers for August 13th

Divas return to Superstars on Thursday night. Check out the spoilers by highlighting below:

Thoughts after the cut:

Raw Response: August 10th, 2009

65

raw

So Gail Kim is the new #1 Contender for the Divas Championship. Confused? Surprised? Happy?

Talk about tonight’s Raw!

Serena Renamed in FCW

serenawwe

Former SHIMMER and OVW star, Serena has been renamed in WWE’s developmental camp, FCW. She now goes by the name of Serena Mancini.

It’s certainly a start, hopefully they’ll end up dropping the ‘Mancini’ and just go with Serena by the time she’s on the main roster.

FCW is touting a swimsuit competition between the Divas of the territory at it’s End of Summer Bash on August 28th. Serena, Alicia Fox and Rosa Mendes are advertised as competing as is someone by the name of Liviana. We’ll see which future Diva blasphemed to earn that name, in the coming weeks I guess.

EDIT: Liviana is the new ringname for Candy Girl, thanks Kaledrina for pointing that out.

Another Ratings ‘Knockout’ for TNA

6

impactratings

Newcomers, Alissa Flash and Sarita helped last week’s Knockouts tag team match post stellar ratings for Spike TV’s Impact.

The fantastic tag team match which saw Sarita team with Taylor Wilde against Flash and Traci Brooks posted a 1.32 in the ratings, according to our parent site Female Fight League. The match was the highest rated segment on the show.

And with such great new talent, it’s no wonder people are tuning into the Knockouts division. Sarita’s breath-taking aerial moveset is reason alone to tune in, my only complaint is that I can’t see it in HD!

Latest on Michelle McCool *Updated*

13

michelle-womenstitle

It looks as though the status of Michelle McCool is still ambiguous, as the Women’s Champion was kept off last night’s house show in Regina, Saskatechwan Canada and will likely miss all of this weekend’s events.

Michelle hasn’t wrestled since the incident last Friday in a match with Eve Torres, though she completed last week’s house show circuit making an appearance the next night — visibly hurt. WWE.com has yet to acknowledge her injury, which leads me to wonder if she’s just taking a couple of weeks off to rest up. I’m hoping we’ll know more after the SmackDown taping on Tuesday.

In extra news, FCW’s Angela Fong served as ring announcer and time keeper at last night’s show. If she completes the weekend circuit with SmackDown, there’s a chance she could be backstage at the taping on Tuesday night. If McCool really is injured, that would be the perfect time for her to debut as she’s already travelling with the brand.

EDIT: We spoke to a source close to the situation who tells us that Michelle’s injury ‘is not looking good’, though she has been very brave in handling it. It looks as though we may be looking at a worst case scenario with McCool being sidelined indefinitely. Our thoughts go out to you, girl!

This Week’s Roundtable Discussion Post (August 13th, 2009)

12

This week on an all new Roundtable, the Diva Dirt team will be discussing WWE, TNA and a lot more! Join us as usual, on Thursday. But in the meantime, have your say on your topics:

Please try to keep them short and sweet — just one sentence, so we can read out as many comments as possible.

This week we will have one umbrella topic: “In a ratings and PPV buy driven world, is there success and profit to be had in the respective Divas and Knockouts divisions? And why is women’s women’s wrestling so often seen as an afterthought by major promotions?”

[Note: There’s a specific reason we opted to cover this topic this week. More details on the Roundtable on Thursday.]

We are also going to do a segment where we answer your questions about anything and everything, from wrestling to random stuff! If you have a question for Melanie, Erin, Steven or Tiffany, just leave it in a comment and make sure you state who your question is for! Whether it be an opinion on a certain Diva or if you just want to know what their favourite sandwich filling is!

Remember: Keep your comments brief, one sentence is best. I’m being serious about this, every week we get huge paragraphs from some of you and bear in mind, I have to read this out and it gets tongue-twistery. I know it’s hard to say what you want to say in a line or two, but it’s important to keep your comments brief so we can read them out.

Please copy and paste and the form below into the comments box, to best help us! Feel free to leave any field blank if you don’t want to answer:

Don’t forget to join us on Thursday for the Roundtable!

Note on Using Our News

6

Just like the double standard towards women in the wrestling industry, there seems to be a double standard towards this here site from other wrestling news sites/blogs. We have noticed for a while now that some sites are re-posting stories that we ourselves have broken, without providing the appropriate credit. I don’t know what their deal is but it seems to me that they don’t want to be seen visiting or crediting a women’s wrestling site.

Some are even going as far as to credit other sites that didn’t even report the news as a way out of crediting the site that broke the news.

I don’t intend to get anal about it and I don’t want to make this site seem as though we’re a huge site like PWInsider or anything, but for the few stories that we do break, we do all the ground work and deserve the credit. We are not a ‘newz’ site, while we will report news from other sites — that isn’t our sole aim. We have worked incredibly hard to show some journalistic integrity and forge our own contacts in order to break our own news. And just like anyone else who does so, we expect the same level of credit to this site.

PS: We’ve updated our ‘About‘ page with a more indepth history of Diva Dirt!
