Morgan & Rodriguez Win Back Tag Titles, Baszler Turns On Rousey

In a complete shocking turn of events at Money in the Bank, we have new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey after an audible gasp came out of the crowds mouths when Baszler turned on Rousey.

In the final moments of the bout where Rousey and Baszler had the challengers right where they wanted them, Baszler applied to Kirifuda clutch to her own tag team partner. Morgan who was in the ring was left shocked and confused.

Baszler would leave the ring afterwards allowing the challengers to pick at the scraps. Rodriguez tagged in Morgan and delivered a Tejana Bomb to Rousey. Morgan hit ObLIVion for the three count as the duo now become two-time champions as a pair. This ends Baszler and Rousey’s reign at 33 days.

Money in the Bank Discussion Post: 07.01.23

Two women’s matches are on the card as follows –

Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Titles

Shayna Baszler & Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez

Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Money in the Bank Predictions: 07.01.23

Today’s WWE Money in the Bank event starts at 3PM ET as it takes place from the O2 Arena in the UK. There are two women’s matches on the card.

The Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey will be defending against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Morgan and Rodriguez never lost the titles due to Morgan’s injury and now they are ready to reclaim them.

Predictions

COLBY: I’m glad this PLE will have two women’s matches after all because it looked like there would only be the ladder match for several weeks. Nevertheless, I’m actually excited, in a sense, for this because these women have decent chemistry with each other.

Morgan feuded with both Rousey and Baszler last year, while Rodriguez has proved to have some really entertaining TV matches against Rousey. It’s also so great to see Morgan back already after it seemed like she would be out longer. However, I don’t see the titles changing again and that’s perfectly fine.

WINNERS: Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

GARY: Given that Raquel is likely being primed to face off against Rhea Ripley, I don’t see her winning this match with Morgan. Baszler/Rousey win and ideally move on to an extended program with The KC’s after the taster we got with them earlier. The KC’s vs the champs in a gimmick match of some kind? Yes please!

WINNERS: Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

NICK: I think this will be the last we see Raquel and Liv together. There’s also been rumors of Ronda and Shayna going to NXT and with Jakara and Lash calling them out last week I can see that continuity happening.

WINNERS: Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

We also have the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Six women will battle it out to become Ms. Money in the Bank. The winner grabbing a briefcase where they can almost guarantee a cash in to become a future champion. The participants are: Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus, Zoey Stark, Bayley, IYO SKY, and Zelina Vega.

Predictions

COLBY: What a field! It’s certainly not a group of women I would have predicted a couple of months ago, but I like it. Trish in her first ladder match could go one of two ways — she does some crazy stuff, or she leaves Stark to do her dirty work for her.

Another tag team includes Bayley and IYO SKY, but it feels inevitable that we’ll really see some cracks here. While Becky and Zelina each have their own mission as the resident babyfaces, I don’t see them winning here. I’m torn between Trish and IYO and I feel like I’m going to stick to IYO.

WINNER: IYO SKY

GARY: I feel like this match could go a number of ways but I think the briefcase is going to be used to further an existing storyline but will that be Stratus vs Lynch or the demise of Damage CTRL? I’m going to with latter and say that IYO SKY gets the win and Bayley pressures her time and time again to cash in while acting like the briefcase is their shared item to continue dividing the pair.

WINNER: IYO SKY

NICK: This could go so many ways. It could go the route to involve Becky/Zoey/Trish or it can be used for Bayley/IYO. These are the biggest stories heading in with Becky saying MITB is the one thing she has yet to win. I think that with Becky standing tall at the summit means she isn’t winning so I will go with my peers and say IYO.

WINNER: IYO SKY

Come back to Diva Dirt at 3 PM ET to talk about the show live.

Asuka vs. Flair Ends With DQ; Damage CTRL Cuts Shotzi’s Hair

Charlotte Flair entered this week’s SmackDown in the United Kingdom attempting to become a 15-time champion. She faced a familiar foe in Asuka for the WWE Women’s Championship.

One woman who wasn’t in the match but has been upset that she hasn’t received her rematch is Bianca Belair. Adam Pearce had previously told her that she could not be at ringside for this match, so she played the game and purchased a ticket to be front row.

The final moments of the match had both Flair and Asuka on the outside. Asuka was at the barricade in front of Belair. Flair went for a big boot and Asuka pulled Belair in the way which is who Flair hit instead. Moments later once Belair composed herself, she hopped the barricade and went right after Asuka causing the disqualification. Belair continued her attack on Flair who warned her about putting her hand in her face.

Belair would stand tall in the end after hitting a KOD on both Asuka and Flair on top of the commentary table.

The other women’s match of the night was Bayley vs. Shotzi. A match that was cut last week happened tonight and it had Bayley’s spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match on the line. If Shotzi would have won then she would have replaced Bayley.

Bayley would win the match and remain in MITB. The final moments had IYO SKY help her Damage CTRL partner by placing her foot on the rope as Shotzi was near a count of three. This distracted Shotzi and then the referee who tried to get SKY to back off. While the official wasn’t looking, Bayley raked the eyes of Shotzi and hit her with Rose Plant to get the three count.

After the match and moments later backstage, Shotzi came running up to Damage CTRL saying she isn’t finished with them yet. The numbers game was too much for Shotzi who was taken down on top of a table. Bayley grabbed a pair of scissors as SKY held down Shotzi and cut a chunk of her hair. Bayley left with the hair in hand.

In a promo backstage, AJ Styles accepted a challenge from Karrion Kross and stated that if his woman (Scarlett) was to get involved then he has someone who can stop that as Michin appeared.

Money in the Bank takes place tomorrow at 3PM ET due to the event taking place in the UK. Diva Dirt will have a Discussion Post to talk about the show live, come join.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 06.30.23

SmackDown is in the UK and tonight’s episode was taped as a result. Tomorrow is Money in the Bank and tonight is the last show prior.

Bayley will hope to hang onto her MITB spot as she faces Shotzi tonight. If Shotzi wins then she takes Bayley’s spot in MITB.

The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line as Asuka defends against Charlotte Flair. With Adam Pearce saying Bianca Belair is barred from ringside, how will the EST still stale her claim to a rematch?

Enjoy!

Bayley Says She Begs Mercedes Mone To Come Back To WWE Every Day

0

Bayley and then Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone) have been thick as thieves in both their professional and private lives. Mone left WWE in 2022 and has since been working with NJPW and STARDOM and is currently out with an injury. Both Bayley and Mone go back to the start in NXT together and are two out of the Four Horsewomen (Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch).

While speaking to Gorilla Position ahead of Money in the Bank, Bayley was asked if she wants Mone to make a return to WWE.

“I beg her every day. I beg her every chance…you know what, it doesn’t matter where it is. It doesn’t matter how it happens. I would love to one day step back in the ring with her. Whether it’s teaming with her, whether it’s against her. But right now, I just want whatever happiness she needs to feel, whatever she needs to accomplish her dreams, accomplish her goals. I’m just happy to see her happy,” Bayley said.

The interviewer also mentioned wanting a Fatal Four Way between all four Horsewomen in the main event of a WrestleMania. Bayley says it is crazy that hasn’t happened and “we’ll see.”

Bayley is currently listed in the Money in the Bank match but will be facing Shotzi on the June 30 episode of SmackDown to keep her spot.

Shotzi vs. Bayley Set With MITB Spot On The Line

Remember when this was planned to happen last week and was cut? Well, it is still happening.

WWE is in the UK already for Money in the Bank that is set for tomorrow at 3 PM ET. Tonight’s SmackDown will be coming from UK but will be taped and then aired in the United States at its normal time.

Per WWE Bayley‘s spot is still in jeopardy as Shotzi will face her tonight.

Damage CTRL’s Bayley is as confident as ever, and to prove that she’s not afraid, she’s putting her spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match on the line against the dynamic Shotzi.

Bayley and Shotzi haven’t seen eye to eye, and a recent backstage encounter on SmackDown led to the two agreeing to the massive matchup.

As the only former Money in the Bank winner currently in the match, Bayley believes she has the upper hand heading into the July 1 Premium Live Event, but is she overconfident?

Also, don’t forget that also tonight Asuka will be defending the WWE Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair.

Check back in with Diva Dirt at 8 PM ET for the SmackDown Discussion Post.

Trinity Defeats Jai Vidal; Killer Kelly Returns The Favor For Slamovich

This week’s IMPACT featured Trinity‘s first singles match against a male competitor.

Trinity battled Jai Vidal in Atlanta in an intense match as the two showed off their flashiness. Vidal started off by slapping Trinity, but she gave him more than a receipt with a slap and then her gyrating in the corner.

Savannah Evans tried interfering at ringside, but it always backfired. In the end, Trinity was able to hit a crossbody, plan Vidal into the mat, and then apply Starstruck for the win.

Evans and Gisele Shaw attacked Trinity afterward, and Deonna Purrazzo left commentary to eventually intervene. Trinity and Deonna stared each other down as their title clash looms.

The other Knockouts bout of the night saw Masha Slamovich and KiLynn King tear it up in a hard-hitting affair. Slamovich rag-dolled King around by her hair to start, but then Taylor Wilde played spoiler at ringside.

The rest of the bout was full of strikes and kicks as they tried to out power the other. King managed to hit a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. After Wilde interfered a second time, Killer Kelly came out with a chain to choke her. Slamovich then hit King with Snow Plow to secure the win.

After, Slamovich and Kelly met face to face with the chain wrapped around them. After a seductive exchange, they left the ring together. While not yet confirmed, it looks like this could be the tag team title match at Slammiversary.

Britt Baker Misses Dynamite Due To Illness; TBS Title Match Set For Collision

Britt Baker was slated to face Ruby Soho in the fourth Owen Hart Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday’s Dynamite, but D.M.D. was unfortunately pulled from action due to illness. As a result, their match has been postponed to the July 5 episode of Dynamite.

Soho was still in action on Wednesday’s show as she took on Canada’s own Alexia Nicole. It was a fairly one-sided match as Soho dominated Nicole before applying Baker’s Lockjaw to score the submission victory.

After, The Outcasts spray-painted Nicole. Soho then cut a promo on Baker being absent. She called Baker and Adam Cole weak for missing their matches this week and then reflected on their previous matches together. Soho promised a different outcome after Baker beat her in last year’s tournament finals.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Hikaru Shida vs. Taya Valkyrie has been booked for Rampage, while Lady Frost will challenge Kris Statlander for the TBS Championship on Collision.

On July 4 there will be a tag team match between Nightingale and Momo Kohgo as they take on Giulia and Thekla. This serves as a preview for what will take place the following night. Nightingale will be putting her title on the line against Giulia.

Giulia called out Nightingale after the recent STARDOM Sunshine event. Nightingale accepted and we are here to see it. Nightingale is also currently moving forward in AEW’s Owen Hart Tournament and is waiting to face Athena next.

Tiffany Stratton Retains; Rhea Ripley Appears On NXT

0

A NXT Women’s Title match kicked off the June 27 episode of NXT. Tiffany Stratton defended against the number one contender Thea Hail.

The match was fast paced with Hail impressing the crowd. Hail had who she thought was in her corner at ringside. Along with Duke Hudson, Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey watched on before they interfered. The final moments had Dempsey pulling back the ropes so that Stratton couldn’t reach it. This caught the referee’s attention along with Gulak jumping on the ring apron.

With the referee busy with Gulak, Hail locked the Kimura in on Stratton causing her to tap but the official didn’t see it. As Hail argues with the referee, Stratton rolls her up into a bridge to get the win.

After the match, Gulak and Dempsey start yelling and targeting Hail. Hudson enters the ring and the duo attacks him. This leads to Andre Chase’s return.

There is a backstage segment that was taped from last week. Dana Brooke was in medical with ice on her knee from her defeat. Kelani Jordan emerged and the two have a conversation. Brooke says that she has been watching her and is happy to see a fellow gymnast. She says once she is healed she would like to get in the ring with Jordan.

The Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley makes an appearance backstage to warn Carmelo Hayes to stay away from the Judmenr Day.

The second women’s match was between Gigi Dolin and Kiana James. This rivalry has been brewing a few weeks with Fallon Henley sharing some words of wisdom to Dolin about her former tag team partner.

The final moments of the bout had James attempting to hit Dolin with her bag, but Dolin avoided it. Dolin hit the Schoolboy Bomb on James for the pinfall victory.

Post match, James hit Dolin from behind with her bag and followed up with a flatliner. James pulled two cans of paint out of her bag and dumped it on Dolin.

Ripley appeared backstage once again after Lyra Valkyria beatdown Jacy Jayne. She says that Jayne deserved it.

Meta Four’s Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend call out Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.

The future of either the Diamond Mine or Schism is in danger. Next week, the Creed Brothers will take on the Dyad with the losers leaving NXT.

Becky Lynch Stands Tall At The Top Of Money In The Bank Summit

If you missed the June 26 episode of Raw then here is what happened on the last Raw before Money in the Bank this weekend.

All six women who will compete in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, (Becky Lynch, Zoey Stark, IYO SKY, Bayley, Trish Stratus, and Zelina Vega) met for a summit discussion.

The segment kicked off with Corey Graves attempting to explain the rules to the match but Bayley interrupted him. She boasted that she is the only woman in this year’s match who has won one of these and she would put down the crowd saying they likely don’t know the rules of the match even though everyone else does.

After SKY got in a few words stating basically that she can win the briefcase, the discussion shifted to Zelina Vega. Vega provides reasons why she will become Ms. Money in the Bank and every other woman in the match will not. She pointed out that Trish Stratus may be a Hall of Famer but she has never been in a ladder match.

Stratus took to the mic to respond but shortly thereafter when she addresses Lynch things got physical. She says when everything is said and done and she wins the briefcase can Lynch be man enough to say Thank You Trish?

Lynch launched the first punch which first had Stratus and Stark on her as Damage CTRL targeted Vega. Eventually everyone would spill out of the ring except for SKY and Lynch. SKY would be launched onto the ring apron before taking out the field on the outside with a moonsault. Lynch climbs up a ladder and unhooks the briefcase signaling what we may see take place this Saturday as she stands tall.

Elsewhere on Raw, Ronda Rousey won a match against Raquel Rodriguez. Rodriguez showed how she can overpower over Rousey, but a distraction on the outside would allow Rousey to take advantage and get the pin. On the outside, Morgan leapt off the steel steps and took down Shayna Baszler. These two teams meet on Saturday for the Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Later on in the night, Lynch and the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley ran into each other. Lynch says when she was champion she was busy main eventing Raw. Now that Ripley is champion she is too busy being the side champion of the main event.

Natalya had a backstage interviewed where she challenged Rhea Ripley for Raw next week.

Maxxine Dupri continues to warm up for her eventual in-ring debut.

Raw Discussion Post: 06.26.23

Tonight is the last Raw before Money in the Bank that takes place this Saturday. There will be a Money in the Bank participant Summit tonight where all six women will be present.

As always, enjoy.

Rousey vs. Rodriguez Booked For June 26 Raw

Tonight’s episode of Raw has a match scheduled now between one-half of the Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Raquel Rodriguez.

Rousey and Shayna Baszler unified both women’s tag team championships on the June 23 episode of SmackDown after defeating the Unholy Union. After the match a returning Liv Morgan and Rodriguez challenged for the belts that they never lost due to Morgan’s injury. That match will take place at Money in the Bank on July 1.

Also set for tonight’s Raw is a Money in the Bank Summit segment.

Athena Advances In Owen Hart Tournament; Toni Storm Retains At Forbidden Door

Athena is the next woman to advance in the Owen Hart Tournament.

Athena took on Billie Starkz at Forbidden Door on Sunday and came out with the victory. Her advancing means that she will be facing Willow Nightingale in the semi-finals. The last first round match will take place on this week’s Dynamite as Dr. Britt Baker takes on Ruby Soho. The winner of that match will face Skye Blue in the semi-finals.

Also at Forbidden Door, Toni Storm took on Willow Nightingale defending the AEW Women’s World Championship. Nightingale showed off her power over Storm, and started the match strong. However, she was eventually overmatched by The Outcasts, but she briefly took out Sarya and Ruby Soho. In the end, Storm raked the eyes of Nightingale before hitting Storm Zero for the victory and to retain.

Nightingale has recently caught the eye of STARDOM’s Giulia who wants to challenge her for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title. Since the challenge was provided over the weekend, Nightingale has accepted.

Storm also responded to the fact that Giulia may be coming for the AEW Women’s World Title as well. She welcomed the challenge.

DD Power 15: June 18 to June 24

Welcome to this week’s Power 15 Rankings curated by us here at Diva-Dirt. This week we are reviewing women’s action across several companies.

As well as the 15 women featured, two wildcards will be featured each week chosen by Nick and Gary. These wildcards are for women who didn’t quite make the ranking but are ones to watch for the week ahead. Without further ado, let’s get in to it.

Please Note: This list is subjective to us at Diva Dirt. We encourage our readers for respectful and enjoyable conversations.

Gary’s Wildcard – Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez

Despite NXT losing it’s NXT Women’s Tag Team titles, we have seen the emergence of some new teams that have previously only existed on LvL Up.

A couple of weeks ago, Lola Vice would seemingly align herself officially with Elektra Lopez and the duo agreed to stick together. They appeared during the scheduled tag team match of Meta-Four vs Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz to seemingly scout the competition.

The duo seem to be biding their time and I await their next actions with anticipation.

Giulia Challenges Willow; New Goddess Of Stardom Champs Crowned

0

Giulia, currently one-third of the Artist of Stardom Champions, laid down a challenge for Willow Nightingale. She wants the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship.

At STARDOM Sunshine, Giulia retained the Artist of Stardom Titles along with BariBari Bombers members Thekla and Mai Sakurai. They defeated STARS in a six woman steel cage match to retain the titles.

After this victory, Giulia says she wants to meet Nightingale state side for the NJPW STRONG event. She also mentions opening up the Forbidden Door.

Nightingale is challenging Toni Storm at tonight’s NJPW x AEW Forbidden Door event for the AEW Women’s World Title.

At STARDOM’s Sunshine event, the Goddess of Stardom Tag Team Titles changed hands as Mariah May won her first gold in Japan. Along with her Rose Gold partner Mina Shirakawa they defeated The New Eras – Ami Sourei and Mirai.

Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Title Bout Added To Money In The Bank

After what took place on the June 23 episode of SmackDown, a Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Championship Match is taking place at Money in the Bank.

On SmackDown, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler defeated the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre. This unified both championships.

Post match, Raquel Rodriguez announced a surprise as her tag team partner Liv Morgan returned from injury. The team never lost the tag titles as they had to relinquish the titles due to Morgan’s shoulder injury. They stared down the unified champs wanting a rematch for the gold that they never were defeated for.

This is only the second women’s match confirmed for MITB on July 1. The other match is the six woman MITB Ladder Match.

Check back in with Diva Dirt on July 1 at 3 PM ET to discuss the MITB event.

Spoilers: IMPACT Tapings June 23 & 24

*Please note this article contains spoilers from recent IMPACT Tapings*

IMPACT Wrestling recently held its tapings in Atlanta on June 23 & 24. Below are spoilers via Cagematch and PWInsider.

June 23

June 24

  • Trinity def. Jai Vidal via submission. Gisele Shaw and Savannah Evans attacked but Deonna Purrazzo made the save.  She and Trinity faced off.
  • Deonna Purrazzo came out to issue an open challenge. It was answered by Jody Threat. Deonna won via submission. Jai Vidal’s crew came out to attack Purrazzo and this brought out essentially the entire Knockouts locker room for a brawl. Trinity ran in at the end to clear the ring and then Trinity and Purrazzo had a pull apart brawl.
  • The Coven & The Design def. Decay & The Death Dollz
  • Killer Kelly & Masha Slamovich defeated Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans, with a double Ganso Bomb on Evans.

Willow Nightingale Advances In Owen Hart Tournament

Willow Nightingale has advanced in the Owen Hart Tournament as she defeated Nyla Rose in a first round match on Collision. She won with the Doctor Bomb.

After the match, all three members of The Outcasts came to the ring to intimidate Nightingale. Skye Blue, who advance in her first round match, came to help Nightingale with a steel chair in hand.

Nightingale will now face the winner between Athena vs. Billie Starkz which will take place on Sunday at Forbidden Door.

The NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion will be in action also at Forbidden Door as she challenges Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Title.

Skye Blue Advances In Owen Hart Tournament

Skye Blue is one step closer after defeating Anna Jay in a first round match. The match took place on June 23 Rampage.

The final moments of the match had Jay attempting the Queen Slayer but Blue was able to avoid it. She hit Code Blue to get the win. Blue will take on the winner of Ruby Soho vs. Dr. Britt Baker which takes place on the June 28 episode of Rampage.

The next first round match takes place on June 24 Collision as Nyla Rose takes on Willow Nightingale. At Forbidden Door on June 25 during the preshow will be a first round match between Billie Starkz and Athena.

Charlotte Flair Returns To Action, Asuka Attacks

Charlotte Flair returned to the ring for the first time since WrestleMania on the June 23 episode of SmackDown. One week away from Flair challenging Asuka for the WWE Women’s Championship, she faced Lacey Evans.

In a short match and after Evans did her part in taunting the crowd, Flair won after applying the Figure Eight. After the match, Flair still had the submission applied as Asuka attacked her challenger. She left Flair laying in the ring as she retreated up the ramp.

Flair will be challenging Asuka next week in the UK the night before Money in the Bank.

Bianca Belair has been taking her power into her own hands and told Flair last week she will be at ringside during the title match. She wants whoever walks out as champion. This week, Belair is back in Adam Pearce’s office who says she is banned from ringside but promises her she will get her rematch.

There was a match cut from this weeks SmackDown and it was Bayley vs. Shotzi. If Shotzi won then she would have replaced Bayley in the MITB match. Now it seems Bayley will remain in the match.

It has been advertised for this Monday’s Raw on June 26 that all six members of the MITB match will meet in a Summit segment.

For the results of the Women’s Tag Team Unification Match and the return of Liv Morgan you can click here.

Baszler & Rousey Unify Tag Team Titles, Liv Morgan Returns

The WWE Women’s Tag Titles and the NXT Women Tag Team Titles have now been unified.

On the June 23 episode of SmackDown, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler defeated Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre to unify the gold. Dawn and Fyre thought they had the match won as they went for the double team on Baszler with Rousey on the outside of the ring. However, Baszler was able to counter. Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch on Fyre. With Rousey back in the ring, who applied to armbar to Dawn and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions tapped out.

During the match, Raquel Rodriguez took a seat next to commentary to watch the bout. As she went to head to the back after the match, Rousey and Baszler stopped her.

They asked her where she was going and more importantly why was she even there. Rodriguez came back to grab a mic and as she is on the ring apron she stated she is there to challenge the unified champs to a match. A match for the titles that “we” never lost.

Baszler questioned who “we” is and it turns out to of course be Liv Morgan. Since suffering an injury in May, they had to relinquish the gold. Now that Morgan is healed and back her and Rodriguez want the unified tag titles.

The two teams stare at each other before the champs leave the ring to end the segment.
