Thoughts after the cut & live video after the cut:
If Maryse‘s WWE career were made into a scrapbook, the page dedicated to last night’s Raw could be titled ‘My First Raw Win’, as for the first time since being drafted to Raw last month – Maryse scores her first official win as a Raw Diva. The Diva has been a long downward spiral since moving to the red-brand, her last win was against Gail Kim in a Divas Championship match on SmackDown.
This week, Maryse teamed up with the former Women’s Champion and it seems, now number-two heel, Beth Phoenix against Mickie James and Kelly Kelly. At this point, it’s not quite clear which of those two is being pushed as the top babyface. Because as another Raw passes by, we get another ambiguous Divas match which seems to have no bearing on storyline — in fact, I’m hard-pressed in figuring out what is going on with the Divas Championship situation at all. The announcers keep putting over that Maryse is scared of Mickie, hinting at a storyline between those two. But then we have some tension between Maryse and Kelly. I have no idea where they’re going, it doesn’t seem like they do either. I won’t even begin to boggle my mind by trying to unravel this mess.
For all intents and purposes, this week’s Raw was throway because once again with a pay per view coming up, the Divas are left off which gives them nothing to work for. And with no real storyline continuation, it just looked as though last night’s Divas tag team match was ‘filling the Diva quota’ — yes, I have dusted off that phrase again. WWE gave us our three-minute obligatory Divas match and it was just filler, if you ask me.
It was weird seeing Beth playing subordinate to the Divas Champion, Maryse, for so long Beth has been the top heel on Raw and on the Divas roster altogether but all her hard work has been undone in the past couple of months. Meanwhile, Maryse with a decent couple of matches under her belt with Gail Kim on SmackDown and interaction with actual Divas, has now overtaken Beth.
Match-wise, it wasn’t awful though. Starting off, Mickie showed a lot of fire against Beth. I guess she really wants that Divas title shot, she’s upped her game in the ring recently. Mickie then tags out to Kelly, and if history is a predictor, Kelly and Beth seem to have good chemistry and they did her. Beth shows strength, hoisting Kelly up and then carries Kelly well guiding her into a hurricanrana. Beth dominates before tagging out to Maryse, Maryse does her usual shtick including the camel clutch before Kelly hits an enziguri. The end is here as Beth and Mickie get involved.
Has anyone else noticed that the dropkick through the bottom rope has become a staple of Divas matches lately? Kelly brings it to Raw this week, after Alicia Fox and Gail Kim have used it on SmackDown in the last two weeks. However unlike her SmackDown counterparts, Kelly’s dropkick isn’t quite as great. Maryse then hits her patented French Kiss DDT for the win.
The ring-work was decent but not much story was told. It was silly how Mickie, who hates Maryse, came back into the ring and just checks on Kelly when Maryse is right there and she could have attacked her or something. But then again, this is Raw, “We don’t do storylines.”
We’re debuting a new format for our Eye Candy posts – complete with more detailed critiques and “graded” categories. View the photoshoot we’ve “hung” on our wall, read our critique, vote, and last but not least – sound off in the comments!
The Look: A safari-style dress (especially in khaki) is far from the most flattering piece of clothing – too many pockets and ties – and on curvy body like Beth’s it looks even more ill-fitting. The shoes are cute, and her hair looks fabulous, but the khaki dress is the meat of the look, and takes the whole thing down with it. Grade: C+
The Poses: Using a stool as a photoshoot prop has been done before, but Beth make it her own, looking sexy and casual as she lounges on it. Her serious faces look ultra hot – finally in keeping with her character! It’s simple and effective, but would probably work even better with a sexier dress. In this look, it just doesn’t gel as well as it could. Nevertheless, I still love the poses. Grade: B
Uniqueness: Like I said before, the stool thing has been done before, but the minimalistic thing is unique in its own right – Beth’s look is simple, even if the dress is lacking. Her bedhead hair and relaxed posing is a kind of casual sexy that you don’t see too often in the WWE. Grade: B+
Overall: The posing, makeup, and hair all point towards a sexy, relaxed mood. The dress is the killer, however. Hm.. I can see the reasoning behind the photoshoot’s name now.. Grade: B-

If “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” was written and produced by the WWE, they’d be booking Spencer & Heidi – or Speidi as they’re known – against one of our beloved ex-Divas, Torrie Wilson. Last night on the series premiere of “Celebrity”, Torrie added her first celebrity rivals to the long list that includes Victoria, Candice, Sable, Dawn Marie and more, in the pampered, rich white trash Hills stars.
Within half an hour of the two hour premiere, Speidi had quit the show not once – but twice. On the second occasion, the other celebrities had started rationing out the newlyweds’ goods including a bottle of shampoo that Torrie laid claim to. Torrie and Frangela (who are so fierce by the way) joked around with the shampoo bottle, Torrie said: “Do you like my new Torrie Wilson shampoo?”
However soon after, Speidi returned to the jungle and caught on to what was happening and an enraged Spencer Pratt (perfect last name!) made a bee-line for our Torrie. Spencer hurled abuse at Torrie, reinforcing the wrestling stereotype that all wrestlers take steroids, saying: “All you know how to sell is steroids.” He accused of her achieving her physique using the enhancing drugs, saying there’s no way she could look like that without using. An angry Torrie fought back, “I don’t take steroids. Have you ever worked out?” She then quipped, “Maybe you need to take steroids”, suggesting he chill out.
Speidi continued to trash talk Torrie in the privacy of their own hammock, Spencer called her a ‘bitch’ while Heidi said ‘she’s been so mean to me’. Spencer later hid Torrie’s backpack in the jungle but returned it with a fake apology.
It’s only day one of the show, but Torrie has made a couple of enemies already! Could it be that Speidi are simply jealous that Heidi looks like a monster-truck compared to Torrie? Either way, I was screaming at my screen for Torrie to knock Spencer the fuck out. She’s too passive for her own good!
EDIT: Extra bonus footage from the jungle! I love Torrie… I love Janice Dickinson… I love this video!!!

Great news for all you Candice Michelle fans. According to the SmackDown Divas’ official twitter page (divacandicem), she’s preparing for a comeback. Here’s a quote:
Great news…I will be back in the ring this month!
Good to see her on the right track, but one has to wonder what role she’ll play in the newly reformed SD Diva Roster. She really missed her post-draft window of opportunity, being injured and all. At this point, all the Divas have settled into their roles quite nicely, leaving little room for our injury prone vixen. I see her filling in for the currently M.I.A Maria as tag team filler for the time being, but maybe she’ll surprise us. In any case, well wishes on your return Candice! Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope she doesn’t pull a Kennedy.
Tonight’s Raw Divas match will see Divas Champion, Maryse team with Beth Phoenix against Mickie James and Kelly Kelly.
The show clashes with the series premiere of “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” which is at 8pm, so choose wisely.
Feel free to use this post for your Raw response, as the show progresses. We may or may not be tweeting through tonight’s show, but you can check our Twitter updates on the widget to the right of the page.
It’s here, it’s finally here! Welcome folks, this is it – the launch of 50 Sexiest Divas 2009. Last year, nearly 1000 votes were cast and you crowned Melina as the Sexiest Diva of 2008! Can the Women’s Champion successfully defend her crown this summer or will we have a new Sexiest Diva for 2009? The competition starts here and continues all summer long!
HOW IT WORKS: This year, the format is a little different. We have collated a list of 100 women from around North America, past and present. From WWE to TNA to SHIMMER, we’ve got them all! Those 100 women have been randomly put into five groups (Groups A-E), with 20 Divas in each group. Every week through the month of June, we will give you a chance to vote for your favourite Diva or Divas in each group. From each group, the 10 Divas with the most votes will secure a place in the top 50, and the 10 with the least votes will be cut. Once you have voted for every group, we will have the 50 Divas who will make up the ‘Sexiest’ list for 2009… but it doesn’t stop there! You will then vote for your favourite Diva or Divas in the top 50 to secure their place in the chart. This is when you’ll decide who is #1 all the way up to #50.
Last month, we set a task to all the talented video makers out there to create music videos to help us promote our second annual 50 Sexiest Divas competition, which kicks off today. Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting all of the fantastic videos and at the end of the month, you the Diva Dirt readers will vote for your favourite. The creator of the winning video will win a $50 gift voucher to Highspots.com!
Here is the first entry, created by Jacob.

The moment that us Torrie Wilson fans have been waiting for is upon us! Tonight is the series premiere of NBC’s new reality series, “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here” starring Torrie and other celebrities including Janice Dickinson, Heidi & Spencer Pratt, Stephen Baldwin and more.
Tune in tonight at 8pm ET on NBC, it’s on right before Raw… so it’s extremely convenient to watch! Even if you’re not a whole-hearted Torrie fan, a vote for Torrie is a vote for wrestling! If you can afford it, please vote for her – or as the case may be, don’t vote for her, because if it’s anything like the British version you’ll be asked to vote for the celeb you want to see do the icky bushtucker trials!
For British fans, the American version is coming to you too! The show will be on a one week delay, it begins airing next Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
Trish Stratus recently took part in an interesting interview, shedding light on her involvement with yoga and how she picked up the sport in the first place (thanks, Viscera!), and how it benefited her work in the ring. Trish demonstrates poses and even reveals which current Diva is a fellow yoga nut. It’s great to see her so committed to her practice, not to mention happy and successful outside of wrestling. Many of us were bummed when she turned down a spot at WrestleMania, but there’s something to be said for an ex-Diva who isn’t delegated to the conventions and autograph tours for the rest of time. She seems happy, driven, and – as always – quirky. Check out the videos below:
Welcome to Diva Dirt’s new feature – The Weekly Roundup, a look at the week in television! From Raw, SmackDown, ECW and TNA too, we look back at the week’s highs and lows as well as giving you the opportunity to catch up on what you’ve missed!
MAY 24th – MAY 30th, 2009
It’s been a positively exhausting seven days for us women’s wrestling fans! From TNA’s Sacrifice pay per view last Sunday to last night’s Friday Night SmackDown. Take a look back at the week that was, with Diva Dirt.
Best Bet: The best moment of the week had to be Victoria‘s TNA debut on Impact, this past Thursday night. We saw a rejuvenated Vicious Vixen looking better than she has in years, make quite the impact on Angelina Love (no pun intended). This moment will surely be a strong contender in the 2009 Year-End Awards.
Honourable Mention: The next top moment came from star-in-the-making, Alicia Fox who got the chance to compete in the ring with the multi-talented, three time Women’s Champion, Melina. Sure she lost, but for a young Diva, working with the champion is one hell of a rub. We predict big things for A-Fox!
Low Point: The disappointing Divas Championship scenario on Raw left a bad taste in my mouth this week. Mickie James looked to be in line for a feud with Maryse, but it now seems Kelly Kelly will get that honour.
Check out all of this week’s videos after the cut:
As Raw dwindled away it’s only compelling storyline this week, SmackDown has furthered both of it’s Diva storylines. Perhaps it’s the so-called ‘lack of Superstars’ on the show that have allowed the writers to utilise all of their stars to the fullest extent (just look at Charlie Haas, talk about a new lease on life). The WWE Draft last year was used to ‘beef up Raw’ and would supposedly leave ‘SmackDown crippled’, but it’s shown no signs of being crippled if you ask me.
Watch below as we get a double dose of Divas action, as Melina faces off against her #1 Contender’s ally, Alicia Fox. Later, following a mound of hype, Eve and Layla finally go one-on-one:
SmackDown continued to gain a solid lead over Monday Night Raw with it’s two matches, even if it was a weaker showing for the brand. No offence to any of the Divas involved and I enjoyed all four Divas’ work, but in comparison to the matches we’ve seen with Melina, Gail Kim and Michelle McCool, it was a slightly weaker show for the Divas. The fantastic Gail Kim was benched this week, and while I personally missed her presence on the show, there was plenty enough on the broadcast to make up for it.
Before I get into individual matches, I want to point out the great way that SmackDown’s writers have kept storylines going from week-to-week, showing recaps before matches and making everything seamless in terms of last week’s show into this week’s show. The match booking makes sense when you watch the recaps before the match begins and that’s something that Raw doesn’t do too often. Yet here, we had that with both matches.
So looking at Melina vs A-Fox, Melina as always looks great. Meanwhile Alicia gets a new theme of her very own, it kinda reminds of a Nelly song without the lyrics but it fits her. Michelle on the other hand, seriously hot mess. The boob tube look doesn’t suit her considering she hasn’t got much going on in that department. Gaudy.
I’m a big fan of both of these Divas and it’s just crazy to think that just over a month ago Alicia was a manager on ECW. The SmackDown writers have turned her on her head and here she is, toe-to-toe with the Women’s Champion, Melina. The Draft really can do wonders. To me, Alicia didn’t come across as the ‘less experienced’ Diva, that dynamic just wasn’t there. I felt like I was seeing two very talented, abled wrestlers in the ring and I think that definitely helps. I don’t know about you guys, but I see Alicia as a ‘wrestler’ now, unlike say if this match was between Melina and Kelly or Maryse; there would be an obvious feeling of mismatch. Alicia on the other hand, has me sold and hanging on her every move. And I think some of that is in her confidence and the way she carries herself in the ring with that swagger we know she posesses. She steps into the ring ready for a match and no offence to Maryse, doesn’t overcompensate with hair flips etc. to hide her flaws.
From the outset, Alicia is aggressive and sort of reminds me of Melina in her early SmackDown days, which must be kind of ironic for the Women’s Champion. Some back and forth action and Melina does the Ma-Trish. We’re on the outside now as we get a staredown between Melina and Michelle, leaving Alicia to hit a very well executed dropkick through the bottom ropes. Interesting since that’s the very move Gail Kim hit on her a few weeks back. Melina hits the floor with an ‘ouchy’ splat, nice selling by the Champ. Alicia then takes a bit of a lead but the more experienced Melina manages to take advantage using her very innovative moveset, notice the use of her legs throughout the match. Melina is definitely one of the most innovative wrestlers on the Divas roster, there’s never a boring spot where she’s concerned.
Things get a little more botchy here into the finish, and as we know from live reports, Melina attempted to go for her Last Call but Alicia buckled under the weight. They obviously cut that here, as the camera cuts to Michelle as Melina goes into the inverted leg-split drop (we really need a name for that) for the win.
It wasn’t the greatest match, but it kept up the SmackDown standard.
Next up we have the culmination of the much hyped feud (which is unusual for the Divas) between Layla and Eve. Speaking of that ‘SmackDown standard’, here’s where standards could really slip. There was a lot of pressure for Eve and Layla to deliver considering the great work we’ve seen from the Friday night roster of late. Neither are amazing in the ring, so this was either hit or miss in a big way. Thankfully, it was a ‘hit’ [although a minor one] as Eve and Layla managed to work toward a decent match that I would go as far as to say, was better than the Divas Championship match on Raw this week.
No one expected much technicality from these two and unlike Alicia, I don’t really see them as ‘wrestlers’. They haven’t managed to work towards earning that tag yet. I’ve been a fan of Layla’s since day one and I’ve wanted nothing more than to see her really become a big part of the women’s division but it seems Alicia has passed her by. Nonetheless, she is still decent in the ring as proven here; she carries most of the match and does a good job of it. I have no doubt, with some more matches under her belt [hopefully with Gail, Melina, Michelle and Alicia] she could get better. The only thing that let her down was her ugly ring attire, a huge shame for the usually fashion-savvy Diva. Eve on the other hand, I have never been to impressed with. To me she’s generic in the ring, a little blah and yes, while she can work an okay match, she just doesn’t pop off the screen for me. Not to mention my gripe with her is that in every match I’ve seen her wrestle, she tends to get winded half way through.
Like Alicia, Layla shows flares of Melina early on, launching at Eve and pounding her leading to a roll-around catfight. Well, no one was expecting technicality. Layla shoves Eve into the side of the ring and delivers a nice kick on the outside and then throws Eve back in the ring and continues to dominate most of the match. The match was very basic, not too many standout spots but it worked. I think both of these girls can work believable matches and there wasn’t too much botching at all, which is a good thing. When push came to shove, they delivered. If I had to speculate, there’s a reason why Eve was moved off her usual interviewing position and given a storyline over the ‘active’ Maria, who’s been relegated to backstage. Not a bad little match, definitely not the best but the SmackDown standard is maintained for another week.
We’re debuting a new format for our Eye Candy posts – complete with more detailed critiques and “graded” categories. View the photoshoot we’ve “hung” on our wall, read our critique, vote, and last but not least – sound off in the comments!
The Look: A cute polka-dotted dress and wrapped heels are all Melina needs in this shoot. The dress looks sweet with its girly colors, but is short enough to show some leg, and the shoes are to die for. They’re eye-catching, and could be overkill in a more busy ensemble, but Melina wears them perfectly here. A single necklace is her only jewelry, and her makeup is similarly simple. Overall it’s a fun, casual look that’s cute, but is made that much more interesting by her poses. Grade: A
The Poses: As mentioned above, the poses help take the photoshoot from “cute” territory. Melina shows a lot of leg and keeps a serious look, save for a few smirks. The off-camera glances are different, but have a touch of that over-the-top “glamour shot” look. Still, I like that she’s doing more than just staring into the camera, as some Divas do. I’d rather have more inventive posing, like she’s doing here, than the same old song and dance. Grade: A
Uniqueness: It’s a simple dress-and-heels look, so she’s not setting the fashion world on fire, but her poses and the simple way she handles herself sets this photoshoot apart. She looks comfortable and confident, and that’s a quality more rare than you’d think. Grade: B+
Overall: I’m ecstatic any time a Diva keeps her look simple, and after Melina’s over-the-top “ring leader” shoot, this was a nice change of pace. I love the look and the poses, so it’s pretty obvious that I’m pretty fond of the shoot as a whole. Grade: A

For those who haven’t gotten enough women’s wrestling this week, here’s a fresh TNA ‘webmatch’ between Sojo Bolt and Raisha Saeed filmed at Wednesday’s Impact tapings.
The time is around 9.15pm ET (or 2am if you’re me) and Impact is ongoing. As we all know, Victoria makes her TNA debut tonight on the show. Feel free to use this post to leave your comments, feedback, thoughts, flames… whatever.
We’ll be tweeting through tonight’s show, as soon as the Knockouts action begins. You can catch our updates at twitter.com/divadirt or in the widget to the right of your screen.
Get discussing!
EDIT: Added a self-written recap below –
After Angelina Love retains her Knockouts Championship against Sojo Bolt, she takes to the microphone and berates Kip James before having security remove him, calling him a ‘stalker’. She then says she’s gotten tired of wrestling the same old Knockouts and needs ‘new hos’ [competition]. Cue Victoria’s new TNA music [which was kinda cool considering how generic TNA’s production themes are] and she comes out to a crazy pop from the audience in attendance. She is referred to as Victoria by both Mike Tenay and Don West and looks about 10 years younger. Not saying she’s had work done, but whatever it was, she looks much rejuvenated and hot!
Victoria hits the ring, takes out Velvet, followed by Madison. Ang tries to hit Victoria with the title, she manages to duck and then sets up Ang for the Widow’s Peak and connects. Fans go crazy once again, for the signature move. The Beautiful People retreat up the ramp as Victoria grabs the microphone and says something along the lines of, “Consider your challenge accepted.”

The Look: You don’t get much more simple than a skin-toned dress, but the single sleeve makes it interesting. It’s tight, but not too tight, so Natalya avoids the “potato sack” look, and the exposed bra strap is surprisingly sexy – it doesn’t look nearly as trashy as it could. I suppose it has a lot to do with how Natalya handles herself in photoshoots. She doesn’t go overboard with the “sexpot” thing, and she has a unique build, so she can get away with looks that might make other Divas look a little skanky. I’m loving her hair too – I might never get over her ditching her red hair, but the pink-and-blonde look definitely suits her. She does it better than Avril Lavigne, that’s for sure.. Grade: A-
The Poses: Natalya goes from seductive to sweet in the span of these photos, and convincingly pulls off all of them. The casual poses benefit the casual look, and she ends up looking much more sexy than she would sticking her butt out, grimacing, or any of the other “sexy” poses. Grade: A
Uniqueness: Natalya is a pretty unique Diva, from her look to her persona. Thus, her photoshoots stand out from the “pack”, for good reasons or bad. In this case, it’s definitely for good reasons. It seems like a rather plain photoshoot, but she does so much with so little. Grade: A-
Overall: She proves that there isn’t one definition of “sexy” when it comes to Divas. Massive amounts of cleavage or a gaggle of suggestive poses aren’t mandatory in order to look hot, and she shows that in spades. Grade: A

Tara Drama – it’s the new ‘Ashleygate’. The drama surrounding TNA’s decision to rename our beloved ex-Women’s Champion, the artist formerly known as Victoria, as Tara caused a scene in our comments section last night. It has since spilled over onto our Twitter page and various message boards too.
Well in a press release sent out today, TNA hypes Victoria under her name real name sans the last name — simply as ‘Lisa Marie’. Perhaps TNA has rethought it’s decision? I, for one, will be much relieved if they have. Sure Lisa Marie doesn’t ‘pop’ much more than Tara, but it eases my mind nonetheless.
Don’t forget to tune into Impact tonight at 9pm ET on SpikeTV to check out Victoria’s debut! And please do take part in our reader poll too.
We want to see if there’s any viewer uptick in ratings this week, with the debut of our beloved artist formerly known as Victoria tonight on Impact. Vote below and tell us if you’ll be watching:

TNA has renamed former Women’s Champion, Victoria (real name Lisa Marie Varon) for her run with the company. And the result is stupid as fudge, if I do say so myself.
Victoria is now going by the name of *cringe*… Tara.
The Vicious Vixen, Tara… Nah, I don’t think so. So much second hand embarassment.
I know we shouldn’t get caught up on names but as my favourite TV character of the moment (Lafayette in True Blood) would say: ‘The fuck?’
I think we’ll refer to her as ‘The Artist Formerly Known as Victoria’ here at Diva Dirt.
Day three of TNA’s three day taping, read results below:
– Tara (the former Victoria) defeated Madison Rayne (w/Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) with a Widow’s Peak.
– Raisha Saeed defeated SoJo Bolt following a Boston Crab into a sit-down type move.
– Daffney & TNA Knockout Champion, Angelina Love (w/Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky) vs. Taylor Wilde & Awesome Kong (w/Raisha Saeed). Kong & Wilde get the win following an Awesome Bomb on Daffney. Postmatch, TBP & Daffney beat down on Kong & Wilde while Saeed was out of the ring blinded by a Velvet Sky spray to the eyes. Tara ran down to make the save and TBP ran from the ring, meanwhile Tara & Long were left alone in the ring and had a several minute stare down till eventually Saeed pulled Kong from the ring.
Have you ever thought that a certain Diva resembled another celebrity out there? Ever done double-take while watching a movie or TV show and thought “Hang on, isn’t that so-and-so?” Well we certainly have! KATIE LEA AND AUDRINA PARTRIDGE
The Diva: Our favourite Brit, ECW’s Katie Lea.
The Celeb: The Hills star and aspiring actress, Audrina Partridge. As one of the stars of the popular MTV ‘reality’ show along with Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, Audrina has become an instant celeb since the show launched in 2005. Since then she (along with the rest of the cast) has featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, taken on some acting roles and delivered us mountains of rich white girl drama! She’s also said to be schmoozing with the sexy ‘Star Trek’ actor, Chris Pine (Bitch!).
This dead ringer connection is mainly in the face and hair. To her adoring ‘fans’, Audrina is often referred to as ‘Ceiling Eyes’ and Katie has a similar facial bone structure as Audrina. Plus, both are usually seen with raggedy haired, beared fellas. Katie with ‘brother’ Paul and Audrina with on-off boyfriend, Justin Bobby.
Do you see what I see? Is Audrina Partridge a dead ringer for Katie Lea? Vote below:

This Friday’s SmackDown spoilers are in. Highlight below to read:
EDIT: More detailed spoilers added thanks to Diva Dirt reader, spiffy.
– WWE Women’s champ Melina pinned Alicia Fox.
– Eve defeated Layla.
Michelle accompanied Alicia to the ring. After Melina pinned Alicia, Michelle shoved the belt to Melina and stepped out of the ring. The two stared each other down as Michelle walked back up the ramp. All this without Alicia, who was barely rolling herself out the ring on the far end. So yah, once the match ended, Michelle pretty much ditched her. Melina got a huge pop being from Los Angeles, and you could tell she felt the love. Great match.
Eve vs Layla was pretty cool. They gave them a good amount of ring time. Nothing like the 2 minute blip the Raw girls got. Eve didn’t win using a finisher, which might be the only small gripe (until I see it on air). Everyone will enjoy it.
Below are spoilers for upcoming shows, dates not confirmed. If I had to guess they will be padded out over the next few weeks’ worth of shows. None of this airs this week, however:
Awesome Kong vs. “the Future Legend” Cheerleader Melissa. Kong wins following an Awesome Bomb. Crowd was redhot and 100% behind Melissa, the ovation she got was amazing. Conspicuous by her absence at ringside was Raisha Saied.
Daffney defeated Taylor Wilde. During the match, Dr Stevie & Raven come down to ringside with a kendo stick. Post match, the trio hover over Wilde & Lauren came down to help her back. Raven takes the mic and says that for 10 years people have been wanting the reunion of himself and Stevie. He says that Abyss didn’t obey doctor’s orders. – PWInsider.com

The Look: Maryse (or Maurice, as Michael Cole likes to call her) obviously prides herself on her sleek sense of style, but I don’t see anything remarkable here. The belly-baring tank top with laces on the sides looks like something from a knockoff clothing chain at the mall – certainly not something a stylish Parisian would wear with pride. The jeans are better, with their light wash and destroyed look, though the Fleur-De-Lis pattern on the pockets is a bit “obvious”, if you know what I mean. I can’t see much of the boots but I like the color, and the cluster bracelet is gorgeous. I like that she’s not wearing much jewelry and limits it to one eye-catching piece. It’s obvious she’s going for a more casual, easy look, but I can’t get past the trashy-looking top. It doesn’t help matters that no one told her that her bra is poking out. :X Grade: B-
The Poses: Maryse mixes smiley with serious, and uses nothing but a bare wall to base her poses. She’s such a master at making the whole thing look easy that “laid-back-but-sexy” should be her trademark, if it isn’t already. She doesn’t overdo the facial expressions, much to her benefit. Hell, she should probably hold a workshop for repeat “duck lips” offenders on how to pull off “understated sexy”. But Maryse wouldn’t be so special then, would she? Grade: A
Uniqueness: This shoot is pretty blah, as her look doesn’t really jump out at you. It looks like something she might wear on her off days, and while it’s always a nice change to go more casual for photos, it doesn’t make for a very interesting shoot. Still, I’ll take a brick wall backdrop over a black sheet any day. Grade: B-
Overall: Maryse skips stylish and heads straight for trashy, all because of one tiny white top. It seems ludicrous that one thing could make me so sour, but I just really, realllly don’t like it. Still, I don’t hate the entire shoot, obviously. Be sexy, Maryse! Just don’t do it in a top you probably found in the Juniors department. Grade: B-

I’m going to be real frank and kick off by saying, after last night’s monstrosity of a Raw, I have no desire or motivation to waste time writing this week’s Raw Redux. So I’m going to keep it as brief as possible.
Three possible reasons last night’s Raw went the way it did:
1) In the last week, WWE fired all of the Raw writers and hired a bunch of new ones that have no idea what’s been going on in the past few weeks
2) Stephanie handed out doobies during the writing process
3) Mickie James pissed someone off and now she’s being punished
Last night’s Raw was effin’ ridiculous, nothing else to describe it. Over the past few weeks, they’ve set up a feud between Mickie James and Maryse, Mickie scored two wins over her and then when it comes to title time – Kelly gets the shot instead. Okay fine, I try to explain it away last week as a ‘swerve’ to prolong the underlying feud between Mickie and Maryse. Then there’s this week – Kelly gets her title shot, ambiguous ending open for a ‘sequel’, Mickie is nowhere to be seen. The way they left things last night definitely made it seem like they were setting up towards a feud between Kelly and Maryse.
So… what the canuck happened to Mickie? It just defies logic. There was a perfect cue in there, at the end when Maryse was retreating up the ramp for Mickie to come out and sabotage Maryse and continue their feud. But it looks like they’ve dropped that altogether and dived into a feud between Maryse and Kelly.
The match itself was poorly choreographed, the ending was so ‘WTF?’ Did Maryse make history by becoming the first person to get disqualified for pushing someone over an announce table? It was dumb. I do give them credit though, the first minute or so of in-ring action was decent. I was expecting horrible, piss-poor work but it was okay. The tilt-a-whirl backbreaker by Maryse and the handspring elbow by Kelly were good.
So instead of getting her title programme, Mickie’s head is left spinning as she is demoted to playing second fiddle to Vickie Guerrero and Santino, who by the way, have scored a pay per view match over the actual Divas.
Absolutely ridiculous and not worth wasting the time watching. I think I’ll skip watching next week’s Raw live and go on results, if I like what I read, I’ll check out the matches on YouTube.
