TNA Takes Another Shot at the Divas.. Through Taylor

I know we don’t post enough about the TNA Knockouts, so I thought I’d fill the gap and post about them. On the January 15th, 2009 edition of TNA iMPACT! Taylor Wilde took another shot at the divas, in a promo-segment. I know this is somewhat old news, but for those who didn’t see it, Taylor came out with Roxxi and announced that the Sarah Palin angle was set up to punk the Beautiful People. While she is talking to the Beautiful People she suddenly breaks character and compares them to the Divas, this just makes Taylor lose credibility, and makes her appear bitchy. It seems TNA cannot hesitate to bash the Divas, and will just throw it in any Knockout segment. To be a Knockout do you have to bash the Divas?

I honestly do not believe that Taylor would intentionally want to take a shot at the Divas. TNA really needs to stop disrespecting them, it just makes their division more and more overrated when they fail to deliver a match which is better quality than recent Divas matches and makes them more hypocritical. I think that both companies should respect each others divisions rather than bash them. TNA is getting a bad reputation. It’s time to stop.

In the 7 years since her debut, Daizee has wrestled in Ring Of Honor, TNA and a whole mess of midwest promotions. All while spreading love with her peace-loving, pot smoking hippie gimmick. She’s even been a valet to Matt Sydal or as you may know him Evan Bourne. 
 
While she’s slight in stature, Daizee has had some of the most exciting matches in women’s wrestling. She’s gone head to head with Mickie “Moose” Knuckles, Lacey, Cheerleader Melissa aka Raisha Saeed and current Knockouts Champion, Awesome Kong.

WWE Fixes Your Double Vision

Good Lord, the WWE is actually treating the Bellas as separate entities! Nikki Bella has her own new photoshoot, called “Pink Perfection”, that is pretty simple. She shows that she’s her own person and has her own unique traits, but it still leaves much to be desired. For those that find Nikki and her sister Brie “boring” (and there’s plenty of you), this shouldn’t do much to change your mind. Now not every Diva needs to be Natalya with her brazen poses, but when you’re already at odds with generic-ness, being a twin, you need to work that much harder to diferentiate yourself from the rest. Perhaps the WWE prefers that the Bellas stay as similar as possible for the sake of their gimmick, but to me the idea’s already grown pretty dull.

Katie Lea’s Not Getting Pushed, and She Knows It

It’s not often that you see a Diva acknowledge the fact that she isn’t getting pushed. In her most recent WWE Universe Blog, Katie Lea pretty much cops to the fact that she isn’t doing much at the moment other than running away from the WWE’s varied breed of freaks:

I will admit that things have gone a little downhill for me in ECW since my grande victoire, i.e. it would seem that my latest assignments have been limited to my beautiful self getting chased by various mythical creatures. First Boogeyman then, shock of shocks, the green grotesque a.k.a. Hornswoggle… I wonder what they will think of next. Maybe a Pixie..? (I love Pixies! Both cat-like and Matt-like…) Or perhaps Goldust? (Now that might actually be fun!)

Personally, I think it’s a shame that Katie hasn’t seen much action other than the requisite tag team fill-in position since her early feud with Mickie James. She’s talented and (if her numerous entertaining blogs are any indication), she’s got more personality than most of the other Divas. Honestly, her blogs are quite the read, and her exchanges with other Divas on the various WWE.com Live Blogs are hilarious (her and Natalya going at it during the Royal Rumble was simply priceless, and she’s even gotten into it with Tiffany). What do you think, dear readers? Is Katie getting the short end of the stick, or the less you see of the British babe the better?

Natalya No Longer Seeing Friday Night Lights?

natalya1I wasn’t sure until recently whether this was message board fodder or not, but after getting some tip-offs, I’m confident to run with it. There is some speculation that everyone’s favourite third-gen Diva, Natalya could be heading to Monday nights! And I’ll give you a hint: The show isn’t Gossip Girl.

I have complimented WWE a lot lately, they’ve been making some great choices with the Divas and if this happens, it would just be the icing on a big boobed, Divalicious cake. From Michelle’s heel turn to Melina picking up the Women’s Championship, 2009 has gotten off to a pretty great start.

One report suggests that Natalya’s move to Raw could address the severe lack of heels on Raw, which is something I, too, am quite concerned about. At this point it’s Beth Phoenix and Beth Phoenix. There’s no strong number two heel (sorry, Jillian). But who’s to say if Natalya joined Raw, she wouldn’t just be squashed under Beth’s thumb too? My answer: Have her join the Legacy. For some reason, Raw has never been able to have more than one top heel or one top face at a time, until recently, which means other talents get pushed to the background i.e. Mickie James. But at the moment, they are doing a good job of pushing both Melina and Kelly Kelly. I think Beth needs and deserves a strong number two and Natalya could be just that. Having Natalya as part of the Legacy would give her a chance to flourish in her own right and be built up strongly, like Beth without necessarily being a subordinate to Beth or overtaking Beth as the top heel.

However if Natalya joins Raw, I would feel sorry for Gail Kim, who’s being primed for SmackDown. With no Victoria or Natalya on SmackDown, Gail wouldn’t exactly be surrounded by great workers. So if you bring Gail to Raw, you’d need to move someone to SmackDown and that’s where all this gets complicated. You’d need a ‘Diva Draft’ on television just to explain all these moves! But if Natalya moves, I say Gail has to come with her. I guess you could move Kelly and Candice over to SmackDown, Kelly could definitely fit into the top face role over there with Maria as her number two and you’d have Michelle and Maryse as the top heels, maybe you could turn Eve or Candice heel to filter out that side.

Anyway, I don’t want to get ahead of myself. What say you on the whole mess of a subject?

Natalya’s Still a Redhead (For a Moment)

She may be back to blonde, but in my heart (*sniff) and in her latest photoshoot, Natalya is still a redhead. Titled “Beauty and the Best” (Yeah, I know.. It’s a stretch.), it showcases a bit of the softer side of her. Her hair, makeup, and accessories lend towards a more feminine look. Her tights, as always, are loud and American Gladiator-esque, but her toned-down poses keep it mellow. Of course, Natalya brings her signature spunk to the photoshoot, and that alone sets her apart from the others, but it’s nice to see a calmer, less “Xena warrior princess” Nattie.

Shock horror, what is happening to the world? The Divas seem to have been unceremoniously ‘misplaced’ on this week’s SmackDown. Yes, I’m sure that’s exactly what happened… they’re just misplaced. *Rolls eyes*

So Beth scores a big one on Raw, more tedious Royal Rumble themed photos and one of the interns has decided to school us on SHIMMER. But what really cheered up this cranky new mum at 4am this morning, was a little line in Michelle McCool‘s Universe blog. In addressing the current Divas Champion, the former Divas Champion took a cheap shot at Maryse‘s wardrobe:

Oh…..and by the way, about your new outfit – Candice Michelle called. She wants her robes back! Judging by your “style,” your her #1 fan – now that my friend is something to be proud of! (insert sarcasm here)!

Now that’s what I call a zinger… with extra added zing!

My Diva Senses Are Tingling!

Perhaps spawned from my recent obsession with X-Men, I thought to myself, the Divas have a lot of charm and charisma (generally), they’d make great heroes and villains. So, I’ve compiled a list of Divas, mutant-ised them and given them a back story. If anyone is a fair drawer, feel free to turn them into a comic book. ;)

Melina a.k.a The Sonic Blaster

Power: By clapping her hands together, Melina can create a sound wave that rumbles the earth. Her most devastating sound wave is produced when she screams.
Alliance: The Goodies.
Her Story: Melina grew up in a rich family, living a very comfortable life. She was born with her powers, setting off tremors when she threw tantrums as a child. Her parents took her to every globally recognised doctor, but none of them were able to diagnose and change Melina. Her parents loved her nonetheless, they home-schooled her until they sent her to a private school when she was old enough to stop herself from cause a sound wave. It was there she met Beth Phoenix, and became best friends after bonding over their powers. When she was 16, her parents were brutally murdered, whilst she was away on a camp. With her large inheritance she bought a mansion just outside Diva City and established The Guard, a group of heroes who strove to keep the city and it’s people protected.

Kelly Kelly a.k.a The Angel Avenger

Power: Kelly has wings that have grown from her shoulder blades. She also has the power to manipulate any person’s mood and thoughts.
Alliance: The Goodies!
Her Story: Kelly’s wings began to grow when she was only 14. They grew to a span of 13 foot in just over eight months. Because of her obvious difference to the rest of society, her parents pulled her out of her high school and sent her to be home-schooled by her estranged auntie that lived in a town with a very small population. From her young age, she thought of her wings as a curse, stopping her from being a normal girl. Over the years, Kelly came to realise that her family feared her and ran away from her home to find a place where she could fit in. After months of sleeping in forests and deserted houses, trying to find a new home, she met Melina who immediately took Kelly up as her apprentice, and providing a home for the unfortunate 18 year old girl. Under the training of Melina, Kelly discovered her powers of manipulation, and learnt to control them. She still sometimes views her power as a curse. Four years later, at only 22, Kelly fights for the good guys, to show everyone, especially her parents, that they shouldn’t fear her just because she’s defferent from them.

Maryse a.k.a The French Kitty

Power: Maryse has heightened senses and abilities, allowing her to more agile and accurate than even a regular person who has trained in agility and accuracy all their life.
Alliance: Neutral.
Her Story: Not a lot is known about Maryse. It is unknown if she was born with her powers of if she developed them later. She was a perfect student and a force to be reckoned with in every sport she dabbled in, but didn’t like to participate in competitive sport because she didn’t find it challenging. She began to realise her gift when she was playing darts in a bar when she was 21. Although she had never played, she always got the bulls eye. Maryse carries two daggers, which she uses in combat. She does odd jobs for anyone, as long as she gets paid. Even though, she is not associated with a league of villains, she has caused many head-aches for The Guard.

Beth Phoenix a.k.a The Brawler

Power: Beth has enhanced strength which makes her stronger than anyone regular person.
Alliance: The Baddies!
Her Story: Beth was a mild-mannered girl when she was growing up, much different to the aggresive woman we see today.  Her parents noticed that she was quite strong for her age, but thought nothing of it, saying that she was just developing faster. Beth wasn’t as quick to overlook the issue, as she got older she became more and more aware of her strength. She went to a private school, and became best friends with Melina, who disappeared when Beth was 15. When she graduated her power had manifested to it’s peak, and her strength was much more obvious and harder to hide. Society labelled her a freak and she became an outcast. When she was 20, Melina got back into contact with her, asking Beth to join her to help protect humans. Beth refused, angered by the suggestion to help protect the humans that had made her feel defective. She started a league of her own, dedicated to taking over the world and controlling the regular humans lives so they would see her as a god and worship her.

Katie Lea a.k.a The Mystic Mage

Power: Katie Lea has the power to manipulate the elements, but she cannot produce the element at will, she can only manipulate them.
Alliance: The Baddies.
Her Story: Katie Lea doesn’t seem to hold an interest in taking over the world but she does that believe that mutants are above men. It is speculated that Katie Lea likes being in Beth’s league because she enjoys pointing out the holes in Beth’s plans. Her personality is quite cynical and sarcastic, which drives Beth crazy. Despite their problems, Katie Lea  and Beth have managed to forge a strong friendship, which consists of Katie Lea and Beth exchanging snide remarks to one another, seeing who can make the other snap. Katie is thought to have a strong dislike towards Kelly Kelly because she believes someone who considers her power a curse does not deserve to be a mutant.

I hope you enjoyed my second post! I had a few more but then I realised how long this was. :) Do you think the character is true to the diva? Do you have a favourite character?

Is Tonight the Night?

As they do every Tuesday, SmackDown is taping their weekly show tonight, and we at Diva Dirt are wondering if they have a little trick up their sleeve to coincide with post-Pay-Per-View buzz they’ve got going. The trick we have in mind? One Gail Kim. Sure, she’s been rumored to be debuting (or re-debuting, depending on how you look at it) for a while now, but the timing seems perfect for her to make her grand entrance. Let me count the ways:

• After Sunday’s Royal Rumble, while the SmackDown Divas didn’t have a match, there’s still that “clean break” feeling, where new storylines can be started and new characters can debut. What better way to keep the buzz alive than to bring aboard a popular familiar face?

• Maryse doesn’t have much going on, with Michelle having turned heel and seeming to be focusing on Maria (remember the “fight” last Friday?). The Divas Champion needs a fresh feud, and I doubt either of the Bella Twins are going to be filling that quota any time soon. Gail would obviously debut as a face, as her wrestling style lends to that, so it makes sense that Maryse’s next big title defense would be against the red-hot returning babyface.

• Speaking of which, what better way to inject more interest into the Divas Championship? Maryse has been on the sidelines for a few weeks, and the Championship has been sort of forgotten, lost in the shuffle of Michelle’s heel turn. Bring it back with a blockbuster feud.

• Gail’s return is destined to be a surprise, unlike her debut back in 2003, what with all the “coming soon” Martix-style promos that built it up. The WWE is likely to act in a manner that will take us by surprise, so it would make sense for her to burst onto the scene rather unexpectedly. There’s no real sign, storyline-wise, that she’s coming. I say, expect the unexpected!

Though, keep in mind that Christian was rumored to be making his return (it’s a Canadian TNA exodus!) at the Royal Rumble, and despite all of the signs pointing in that direction, Captain Charisma didn’t show – it’s entirely possible that even with the good feeling we have, Gail won’t turn up either. Keep you fingers crossed, though, and keep an eye out for SmackDown spoilers when we post them later tonight!

Photos of Melina, Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Jillian, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James, and Tiffany have been added to yesterday’s Vroom Vroom” photoshoot, and it’s pretty much more of the same. Kelly looks great, and I love the little handkerchief-drop pose. Melina’s leather gloves add to her look, and make it look more “race”-inspired than just another tight outfit that happens to be checkered. Speaking of which, Mickie may have won the “over the top” award for this photoshoot. Damn, Maria must be pissed – she stole it right out from under her nose! Although to be fair, it’s tough to top the awfulness of a checkered tutu.

As a frequent visitor of this site I noticed something that I found strange. A lot of you guys are not familiar with SHIMMER. For shame people. SHIMMER is the cream of the crop of women’s wrestling. Anyhoo, now that I’m an intern here at Diva Dirt, I have the chance to help you see the error of your ways(Lol, just kidding). Without further ado, I present you with what I hope to be a new staple of this site, SHIMMER Spotlight.

At first glance Ashley Lane may look like just another Diva Search Reject, but think again. This pint-sized dynamo is half of the SHIMMER tag champs and one of the best female wrestlers on the indy circuit today. 
 
Ashley has spent the last few years honing her craft on the circuit against accomplished wrestlers such as ODB. All her hard work paid off, as she managed to score a spot in SHIMMER, and eventually earn the tag team titles with her partner Nevaeh. 
 
If Ashley looks familiar to you its probably because she recently had her first televised match.

Get Out Your Ban Hammers!

Hey guys! This is Steven, one of the infamous “Funky Four”. Congrats to my fellow interns. I look forward to the coming week of blogging. But anyhoo, on to the main event.

As many of you know a few months back, WWE banned Michelle McCool from using the Wings of Love. While it was one of the most devastating finishers we’ve seen from a Diva since The Widow Peak, WWE deemed it ‘too hard on’ (or too similar to The Pedigree) for the Divas. That being said, I think there are a few more finishing moves in the realm of women’s wrestling that need to be banned for various reasons.

FFG (Flying Firecrotch Guillotine): Christy Hemme
The name says it all. This has to be one of the most laughable excuses for a finisher I’ve seen in a while. I truly thought that the name was a joke. Nope, that’s really what it’s called. If you’re not familiar with this move, it involves lifting your leg over your head, while on the turnbuckle and dropping into a full split on someone’s neck/face.

Not only does this finisher seem painful to execute, but it has to hurt the opponent’s pride to know that they’ve been beaten by such a ridiculous move.

And last but not least, why would you put the word ‘Firecrotch’ in the name of your signature move. Its just not very flattering. If your crotch is on fire, you should see a doctor and you DEFINATELY shouldn’t have it near anyone’s face.

Faith Breaker: Michelle McCool
I know that all wrestlers get their moveset from somewhere and a lot of wrestlers share moves. However, maybe it wasn’t a good idea for Michelle to pick a finisher from a prominant TNA wrestler and make it her own. It wouldn’t be so bad if AJ Styles wasn’t the ONLY wrestler to use that move. WWE better ban that too before AJ hires a lawyer.

Various Rollups: Every Diva EVER!
If I have to see another damn rollup to finish a match, I’m going to scream. Once in a while is okay, but it seems like every other Divas’ match these days end with some variation of a Sunset Flip or Schoolboy pin. Honestly ladies, go for high risk or maybe a submission, but leave the rollups alone.

Maria Sings?

Maria has a newly opened official website, it seems. You’ll find, on the site, a bunch of photos non-affiliated with WWE, videos and links  that seem to not work. Interestingly, the page has written at the bottom, ‘Actress Model Singer Wrestler’ in that order. I assume that the list is just in alphabetical order, but maybe having wrestling last is a sign that she might be trying to angle for a new career in maybe, singing?

A quick check on YouTube reveals a video of Maria singing karaoke to ‘I Love Rock ‘n Roll’ originally made famous by Joan Jett. Her singing is rather painful to listen to and sounds a lot like her just talking, only it’s more monotonous. I’d have to say, her singing is worse than her wrestling and with her voice, I would definitely not call myself a ‘singer’. Props to her for trying though, right?

The site features some videos of Maria posing in photo shoots with some serious porn star music in the background. Her photo gallery is of about the same quality of her WWE one. She seems less over the top, and her outfits are decent, if not a little skanky. The website for now, is unavaliable, but says ‘Full website coming soon’. You can find it at MariaKanellis.net.

Oh hey there girl, welcome back… SmackDown’s Natalya has returned to her roots, ditching her fiery auburn colour and going back to blonde. It got me thinking, was there any correlation between Natalya’s hair colour and her push? Blonde Natalya got an impressive push when she joined Friday Night SmackDown last April, however it all went downhill when Auburn Natalya turned up and replaced her.

At the time, Natalya wrote that she thought there were too many blondes in the WWE. Maybe the third-gen Diva wised up and realised you gotta be blonde to be pushed? Let’s hope Nattie’s luck changes with her new ‘do!

As a sidebar: I like a Diva who experiments with her hair colour, it mixes things up every now and again and makes them stand out more.

And as an extra sidebar: If you haven’t already read it, check out the back-and-forth verbal sparring between Natalya and ECW’s Katie Lea in last night’s Royal Rumble live blog at WWE Universe. It was pretty hilarious and showed a lot more personality than we get to see on television. Katie Lea has a slick, sarcastic humour and Natalya is just crazy. Put the two together and I think you’d get a pretty funny sitcom!

The Interns Have Arrived

Being the equal opportunist employers that we are *cough* Diva Dirt has taken on four – yes four – brand spankin’ new, shiny interns to add to your daily reading! The new interns will be blogging over the next week in hopes of clicking with you, the readers as well as the rest of the team.

So please welcome Hassan, Mace, Steven and Tara – or as we like to call them, the funky four. I hope you’ll make them feel welcome… or not. You guys have a certain power, if you like what they write, comment and express it. If you don’t like what they write, comment and express it. After all, all the bloggers here at Diva Dirt are here to entertain you.

To celebrate her Women’s Championship win last night, Melina has posed for a new photoshoot with her spoils, which in lieu of a name I’ve titled “3-Time Champ”. She looks genuinely stoked to have the title again, and poses with it in creative ways, even using her signature feather fans as added accessories. I wasn’t a big fan of her tights last night, but that’s the main part of this photoshoot, I guess.. But I must say, that shade of blue pairs with gold quite nicely..

To coincide with last night Royal Rumble’s automobile theme the Divas have taken part in a racecar-themed photoshoot, to delightfully tacky results. Candice, Katie Lea, Layla, Lilian Garcia, Michelle McCool, Maria, and Natalya are all sporting the checkers, and each one of them looks their own shade of ridiculous. I mean, I know it’s tough to make such a specific theme look good, but I can’t think of one of them that looks all that great. I like that Natalya went head-first into the theme, as she always does, wearing a full pit crew jumpsuit. Candice and Katie Lea look decent as well, as they seem to have taken the theme seriously as well. But what are Lilian and Maria doing in skirts? I know you’re girls, but come on.. you look like extras in Grease.

Melina Wins Women’s Championship

Melina has scored her third title reign after defeating Beth Phoenix at the Royal Rumble. Melina picked up the win after countering Beth’s Glam Slam and rolling up the Glamazon.

Melina, a former two time Women’s Champ, first won the title in March 2007 after defeating Mickie James. Melina lost the title back to James after a botched house show match which also featured the now retired, Victoria. Melina won the title back in the same night.

Meanwhile, Phoenix first won the title in October 2007 defeating Candice at No Mercy. Her second title was won at SummerSlam 2008, when she teamed with Santino in defeating Mickie James and Kofi Kingston in a ‘Winner Take All’ match for the Women’s and Intercontinental Championships.

The Royal Rumble is just a few short hours away. One of the most anticipated events of the year, this year’s card is loaded with top quality matches including the Women’s Championship bout between Beth Phoenix and Melina. In recent years, the Divas haven’t had much of a presence at the Royal Rumble but I think it’s a testament to these two Divas, that they’re on the card.

We’ve seen what these two women can do in the ring together, their Match of the Year award winning performance at last year’s One Night Stand has left expectations very high for tonight’s pay per view. But unlike that event, this match has far more meaning.

A) It is for the Women’s Championship.
B) It is one of the biggest shows of the year.
C) Heading into this match, there has been far more plot development than their previous match.

To me, the last reason (C), is the most important. This match has been hotly built up for two months now and the fans are ready for this match. This could have been thrown away at Armageddon in December or on an episode of Raw, but thankfully it wasn’t. Sure this feud has been somewhat overshadowed by Rosa Mendes, but I expect tonight, that this whole storyline will finally be given some direction. I’m guessing after tonight, we’ll have a clear idea where the women’s division for Raw is going heading into WrestleMania.

But what of the outcome? If Beth should retain, I’m sure we’ll see a rematch between these two Divas – possibly even at WrestleMania. However, one thing to me is clear, that Melina is destined to be the next Women’s Champion. Whether it happens tonight or in the coming months, remains to be seen. If it were to be tonight, I think it’s the perfect stage for Melina to pick up the title – at the Royal Rumble, one of the biggest events of the year. She’d be the first Diva to truly be able to go toe-to-toe with Beth Phoenix and win the belt.

And more sentimentally, if Melina were to win tonight, it’d complete what has been a great comeback for the A-Lister. Since her return from injury in November, Melina has really picked up where she left off. Her face turn was cut short last June, but thankfully, fans were willing and accepting of a face Melina and she’s become a pretty good fan favourite. Tonight, if she were to win the title it’d truly complete her face turn – being accepted as a face by both the fans and the WWE Creative Team.

Prediction: If I had to call it, I’d go with Melina going over and winning the title. Somehow Rosa will cost Beth the title, I’m guessing.

Maria Proves Why She Doesn’t Belong in WWE

maria1Never before have I just watched on in amazement. Last night, Maria substantiated every question and doubt that I’ve ever had in her and proved to me just why she doesn’t belong in the WWE – or any other wrestling company for that matter.

How someone can screw up something so simple is beyond my comprehension. Maria has never been the best wrestler, wrestling just isn’t something that came naturally to her like it did to others in her boat (Michelle McCool, Maryse). And as hard as she tried, she could never match those who like her, struggled at first to grasp the sport (Candice, Kelly Kelly). But unlike those four examples, Maria continues to look uncomfortable in the ring and it isn’t a pretty sight. I have often described her wrestling style as ‘spastic’, from the way she hits clothelines, the way she jumps from the turbuckle. Any time I think about Maria wrestling, I just picture her with her arms flailing everywhere.

Nothing looks as pristine as it should. But last night’s ‘attack’ on Michelle McCool really took the biscuit, she’s had some passable matches for sure, but on SmackDown this week she just proved, plainly and simply, that she’s not destined to be a wrestler. Her failed attempt at forearms or whatever they were meant to be, just came off looking limp and yes… spastic. And yes, thinking about it now, I picture her with her arms flailing everywhere. There was nothing believable about it, there was nothing vicious about it, which is what it was intended to be. It just looked awful on screen and if I were producing this show, I would have edited it out before it could hit TV. Obviously, WWE is willing to overlook this which is fine considering they have storylines to put over on a weekly basis.

But to the world, what it shows is that Maria has no basic grasp of wrestling, because she can’t even do the most basic things properly and believably for the viewing audience. Perhaps that is why in four years, she’s never been giving any real wrestling opportunities. Perhaps that is why in four years, she’s never been considered a real title contender. Now that she’s on SmackDown and being given the chance to wrestle and compete for a title, her flaws are becoming more and more transparent.

The title of Maria‘s new photoshoot, “Shocking”, is so appropriate it seems as though the folks at WWE.com have jumped into my head. I think Maria looks stunning, much more so than usual, thus my shock at such an event. Of course, the over-exaggerated faces are still there, but she wears the monotoned outfit quite well, and the poses, paired with the cheeky “HIGH VOLTAGE” sign, make for a surprisingly good shoot. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that she’s toned it down a bit. There’s no over-the-top accessories or crazy patterns or colors – it’s simple (well, for Maria anyways) and while it may be a rarity, it makes her look pretty amazing.

Sexual Harassment Alert!

kelly-harassmentI thought it was a little strange Monday night, to see Kelly Kelly job out to Beth Phoenix given her growing momentum on Raw in the last six months. And today emerges a very serious rumour that could mean big trouble for WWE. Rumour has it that WWE is depushing Kelly for refusing to pose for Playboy.

The implications of this rumour are incredibly severe because if true, it would be classified as sexual harassment. I would certainly hope that Kelly is wise enough to stand up for herself and not just take it as par for the course in the wrestling industry. No one deserves to be treated like that and to say I’m pissed off would be an understatement.

It seems WWE just doesn’t learn and even though they continue to come against the law, they somehow manage to scrape away. It was 10 years ago that Sable sued the company for sexual harassment as she was punished for refusing to pose topless.

If this is true, this is just despicable. It’s funny how yesterday the world celebrated a new era of hope and equality and the next day, this comes out. Please Kelly, I urge you, find yourself a lawyer.
