Maria Versus CM Punk – It’s On!

12

It’s old news that WWE Intercontinental Champion, CM Punk, and WWE Playboy Cover girl, Maria , were an item some years back. Today, they may be cordial towards each other (face-to-face), but the mud still flies, the knife still aims at the back, and the shit’s about to hit the fan… let’s just say the hatchet isn’t completely buried.

It’s a juicy case of “He Said, She Said!” In separate interviews, the two recently had the following to say… and with their relationship history… it doesn’t take a neurosurgeon to figure out that they’re speaking through experience – and about each other!

When asked what she looks for in a partner, Maria says: “Looking for someone who’s going to treat me like a lady and not like one of the boys.

In a separate recent interview when discussing Playboy Playmates, Punk said, “Playboy playmates are so overrated. I also like women with brains.

Round One: CM Punk

Torrie Wilson Returns To The Ring! (Well, Sorta)

8

Torrie Wilson has landed a gig, ya’ll! Mind you, that gig is working for JBL – and if Shawn Michaels is willing to work for the fat wrestler with love handles for days, then who the hell is Torrie, right? Well, whatever pays the bills. It’s great to see Torrie Wilson finally putting those years, upon years, of acting ambitions and lessons to the test, as she makes a cameo not only in print, but in film! Torrie seems to be the new (first, if only, whatever…) spokes model for JBL’s “Energy Plus: No Pain.”

Be sure to check out the video featuring Torrie Wilson and product information at the following link: Layfield Energy Energy Plus No Pain

Raw Redux – January 19, 2008

10

rawredux19jan09

Raw Redux returns with some changes! Erin and Melanie will both be contributing to the Redux as a ‘no frills’ thoughts column. We’ll both be giving our individual thoughts and opinions on the show.

Raw Recap
The Glamazon Beth Phoenix and her #1 Contender competed in seperate matches this week on Raw. Beth defeated Kelly Kelly, while later Melina beat Jillian. Beth’s ‘number one fan’ Rosa Mendes also returned to Raw as an ‘intern’ to Beth and Santino, attacking Melina post-match. Beth added the exclamation point by hitting Melina with the Glam Slam.

Erin:
When Raw rolls around on Monday nights, I’m usually lazy and tired, so I was ecstatic to see the Divas action so early in the show. Little did I know they were just stretching them out over the whole show. :/ So yeah, that made me cranky, but overall it was an interesting show.

Beth vs. Kelly was rather simple, and both Melanie and I were surprised to hear such audible “Kelly” chants. Though, that probably has more to do with the fact that they had an early slot in the show, as opposed to their usual late-show slot. Thus, the crowd wasn’t as dead as usual. I wouldn’t discredit Kelly though, because it’s clear that she’s fast becoming one of Raw’s top babyface Divas. Putting her in match after match helps build her confidence and expose her to the fans, and it’s wise to stick her with the likes of Beth and Jillian, as they’ve been doing. Before long, she’ll be far better in the ring than I ever expected her to be. Remember when she could hardly “dance” on ECW? Yeah, that was hillariously bad. I’m absolutley shocked she’s come this far.

The match itself wasn’t anything memorable, but I was surprised when Melina didn’t have a run-in and attack Beth after the match. I guess it’s a good thing that the WWE isn’t taking the obvious route. While it’s good for my ego to correctly predict things, it’s far more exciting to be wrong.

Rosa’s introduction as Beth’s new “intern” had shades of Mickie’s backstage debut, when she was gushing over Trish Stratus. However, I’m glad this sotryline’s going in a different direction. No cheap sexual faux-lesbian thrills, please. Santino, as he always does, absolutely made the segment. His “can we keep her?” had me laughing far harder than it should have. He needs to stick with Beth for a long while, because I’m afraid if they break up, he won’t have an avenue to showcase his genius comedic talent.

Melina vs. Jillian kind of came out of nowhere, as the show was coming near an end and I wasn’t expecting another Divas match. It was pretty short and shockingly sloppy – they just weren’t on their game last night. I liked that Jillian got the majority of the licks in, because with how often she jobs, the least they can give her is a little dominance in the match. With loss after loss, she’s hardly got any integrity left, and I was glad to see her dominate Melina and gain a little bit of that credibility back. They did the whole “Rosa attacks Melina” thing again, but I liked that Rosa was obviously seeking Beth’s approval, like a little attack dog. It makes this whole storyline much more than just “angry woman vs. angry woman” – it gives it depth. Beth getting the last laugh makes me think – as the old wrestling superstition goes – that Melina will be coming out on top on Sunday. With Beth showing her dominance two weeks in a row, that’s certainly the way it looks to be headed.

Melanie:
I thought I would be able to accurately predict this week’s Raw but they surprised me, which is always a good thing. I like that they’ve changed things up rather than just carrying over last week’s tag match. Beth vs Kelly was about two moves long and there isn’t much more to say about that. It was definitely interesting to see the crowd so into Kelly, the chants for her were very loud and I hope WWE was listening. Kelly definitely has star potential. I felt it was a little strange to build up Kelly for so long and then have her job a squash match, I would have put Candice in this spot.

The backstage segment was done well and it was a good way of bringing back Rosa to television given Stephanie ‘banned her’, so that was some good logic.

As for Melina vs Jillian, I was surprised to say the least. You have Beth go over Kelly in two moves yet you have Jillian beat the tar out of Melina for three minutes? It doesn’t make Melina look strong heading into the Rumble. If you’re going to have Beth lay her out anyway, at least give her a squash over Jillian, that’s how I would book it. Beth and Melina squashing their opponents to prove they’re ready. This match was pretty botchy, I have to say, let’s hope Melina is on her game this Sunday.

The Rosa run-in was again done well and it was cool to see Melina eat Glam Slam even if it was botched slightly. As Erin said, it looks like Melina could win the title after the way things were left last night.

Layla’s in a Dark Phase, Apparently

3

Layla had been making her name as of late as William Regal’s tugging toy (watch the hair, man!) but her new photoshoot, “Lookin’ Good” shows us the old, assertive Layla we know and love. Both looks that she sports are dominated by black tones, but she wears it well. In the first look, I’m kinda iffy on the business-like skirt paired with the sequined top and spiky boots – it just doesn’t mesh well. I love the jewelry, though. The gold bangles spice it up just the right amount. The second look, a halter top and jeans combo, work together a whole lot more. However both dark looks, when paired together, make it a little uninteresting. May I say: wear some color, girl! I know the old Diva Search hyper-all-the-time Layla would be gasping at the monotony of it all.

Well That’s Interesting… I Think…

25

candice-heelAn interesting thing happened at the Raw house show last night and by interesting I mean, interesting if you’re one of Candice‘s two fans. In a strange turn of events, Melina and Candice worked a match together. Huh? But they’re both faces? *Whispers and gasps fill the air*

The seemingly forgotten Raw Diva who has been playing second fiddle of late to Kelly Kelly, apparently worked heel during the match with the #1 Contender for the Women’s Championship. Melina picked up the victory and the pair then, however, embraced in a friendly hug.

Candice as a heel again? I guess they’re trying to find some use for her since Kelly pretty much fills her old spot much better than Candice ever did. But at this point isn’t pushing Candice like flogging a dead horse? I guess you could say Candice peaked too soon *Restrained giggle*

Discuss!

EDIT: Candice again worked heel last night in her hometown of Wisconsin, read the fan report below:

Technically this match made me drowsy. Candice and Melina however have great ring presence.  What is the most interesting thing to note in this bout is that Candice absolutely turned heel around the mid way point.  She faked an injury to the point where the ref gave the sign for the EMTs in the back to come out…she kept that whole thing going until Melina herself went to check on her and Candice rolled her up…1,2….and Melina kicks out.  Candice played heel all the way to the end and even when she headed to the back.  Melina used her signature split kick for the finisher and squeaked the win.  If Candice is being set up to turn heel on television – she has a real shot of making that work for her.  She played heel to perfection tonight.

Michelle McCruel: A Heartfelt (Then Spiteful) Blog

7

The reigning queen of blogging, Michelle McCool, has just posted another new blog, via her WWE Universe account. It’s the same fashion as before, shoot style blog meets character blogging, or as McCruel likes to call it “Inside” & “Outside” of the ropes.

For those of us still reeling in from Victoria‘s untimely departure, this blog is a sure bet to put a smile on your face – I know it did on mine.

One era ends……..and another begins!
Saturday, January 17, 2009, 12:35 PM EST

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!”

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

“You can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do.”

Hey guys! I’ve been thinking long & hard about exactly what to say in this blog. As promised, I am going to continue to give you the Michelle McCool “Outside the ropes” & the Michelle McCool “Inside the Ropes sections. The problem is I have so much to say and only so much space to say it! Soooo….forgive me if it’s hard to follow today, I’ve got a lot on my mind.

Michelle McCool “Outside the ropes!”:

Friday night was a bittersweet night for me (and many of you as well)! As you are probably aware, Victoria decided to retire. After 9 years, several runs as the WWE Women’s Champion, and countless hearts that she has touched, Victoria left a legacy behind….one of hope, one of courage, one of heart and one of character!

Though we’ve had our differences on tv, she is someone very special to me. It’s funny how life goes full circle. From watching her on tv as Godfather’s “Head Ho”, to kicking her butt in diva dodgeball :) to becoming her opponent, her ally, and most importantly – her friend, I absolutely love that girl to death! She is brave, happy, hilarious, courageous, the list goes on….I can’t even do justice what she means to me. The great thing about her is that I guarantee every person she’s met, she has made a positive impact on in some form or fashion!

For me, she’s been someone to laugh with, someone to cry with, someone to drive with, someone to look up to professionally, someone to look up to personally, someone to be stupid with :), someone to share with, someone to trust, but most importantly – a sister I never had! Sis…you know I love you! I know a lot of you may or may not agree with me for posting all this, but in this case I don’t care (sorry) :) Victoria has been one heck of a competitor whose impact will leave an impression forever! The least I can say is thank you! Like I told you (if you are reading this Victoria) last night, I am honored to have had your last match with you and can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for not only this company, but me! (insert teary eyes here)

Ok, ok…….enough of the sappy stuff, it’s time for…

Michelle McCool “Inside the ropes!”

As Victoria leaves, the show must go on. One down, several more to go. I can’t help but to think that my beating her had to do with her retiring, but I guess that doesn’t matter anymore now does it? The only problem now is that there aren’t any ‘true’ competitors left.

Sure, Maryse is the Divas Champion, but I find it no coincidence that she supposedly got “hurt” the week after she stole my title. It’s funny how I didn’t notice her limping around last week when I saw her. Speaking of Maryse….

I have a bone to pick with JR. During my match with Victoria, he had the audacity to say that she (Maryse) and I look and act a bit alike. Other than the blonde hair, there are ZERO similarities and I mean ZERO!!!! I was going to confront him next week because of how irate I was until I read his latest blog here on wwe universe. In his blog, he said one of the smartest things (and what should be obvious to most) he has ever said. And I quote….

“It’s just Michelle McCool’s world and the rest of us are living in it!”

He is absolutely right! So JR….I wholeheartedly forgive you for the comparisons you made between Frenchie and me! And on that note….it’s time to go to work. Let the McCruel Era continue….

Until next time…faith to fight the good fight, heart to believe and soul to search within!

Love, mm

WWE Celebrates Victoria’s Retirement

victoria-thankyou

Who knew WWE could be so classy? I’d really just like to take this moment and thank WWE for their handling of Victoria‘s retirement, they have been extremely gracious to her – and we know that’s not usually the way when WWE drops a Superstar.

Obviously, all this week there have been so many comparisons between Victoria’s retirement to that of Trish’s and that of Lita‘s. I don’t want to compare but I feel I should say what I want to say. I think it’s really unfair to say things like Victoria shouldn’t be getting a bigger sendoff than Lita or whatever, sure Lita’s sendoff left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths but that was then and this is now. Times have changed. WWE has really started to take their divisions seriously and I’m just grateful that WWE has recognised Victoria’s talent and contributions to both the Raw and SmackDown women’s divisions. When anyone retires, they all deserve a nice sendoff but this is the entertainment industry – it’s not always going to work that way. I just think it’s a little silly to compare a thing as retirements.

From front page news to photoshoots to uncut footage of Victoria’s farewell, WWE has really done a great job in honouring Victoria. And they have even moved Victoria’s profile to the Alumni section of their website. That’s a great step towards becoming a future Hall of Famer. Check out Victoria’s emotional farewell to the SmackDown audience below:

EDIT: Check out Victoria’s final photoshoot (aptly titled “Retirement Photos”):

MICHELLE MCCOOL VS. VICTORIA (VICTORIA’S LAST MATCH)

Victoria’s Farewell Statement

12

Victoria has taken to her MySpace to post another new blog. This time, it’s her saying goodbye and so-long World Wrestling Entertainment:

Hey MySpacers!

It’s been announced on WWE.com, so I guess I should address it. This Friday’s Smackdown is my last match with WWE. I started with the company in 2000. I have had so many once in a lifetime experiences. It’s been incredible. I was part of an era in Women’s Professional Wrestling that will never be duplicated again.

Choosing to leave was a very difficult decision. I think many of my colleagues considered me a “lifer”. That is, they thought I’d be with WWE until I was old and grey. But I was not happy with the oppurtunities that were available to me within WWE. And at the end of the day, there are thousands and thousands of women who would kill or die for the chance to be a WWE Diva. It isn’t right for me to fill that spot if my heart weren’t in it.

And I didn’t make a rash decision to walk away. On many occasions I pushed for the Victoria that I’d want to watch. But we were on different pages. I respect their decisions, and they are their decisions to make. Being with WWE is very time consuming. And again, with where we were at, I would rather spend more time at home.

I am a “lifer” though. That may not be WWE for life (although I will always be a fan). But I will always challenge myself. I am a competitor. As you can see from one of the pics in my photo gallery, I’ve been training in Jiu Jitsu. I started for the conditioning, but I have really excelled. It has crossed my mind to enter MMA. I’ve also been learning to DJ. I love music, and this girl has been getting her mix on. Of course I have the custom car shop, Black Widow Customs. And I haven’t ruled out the idea of jumping back in the squared circle occasionally down the road.

I am just so thankful for the experiences that I have had with WWE, for the great friends that I have made with WWE, and the best fans in the world that I have encountered because of WWE.
So what am I doing first? I’m on vacation! I’m not going to say where I am, but it’s warm, and I can look out the window and see palm trees, and I’ll be here for a couple weeks. I have been getting bombarded with requests for interviews and appearances. As for appearances, you can contact me through MySpace for now. When I decide what direction I intend to take, I will acquire appropriate representation, and will pass info along to them.

As for interview requests, several people have emailed me regarding “shoot interviews”. I would like to say this. I am a fan of the Willy Wonka movie. I won a golden ticket. I was in Willy Wonka’s Magical Chocolate Factory for nine years. If you’re looking for an Everlasting Gobstopper, don’t waste your time asking. It’s not for sale.

Finally, I want to thank all my MySpace Friends for your encouragement. I truly feel that we are friends, and I appreciate your support. I will keep blogging, and hope you all keep in touch.

Later Sweet Potaters, Lisa Marie aka Victoria : )

WWE Diva News & Tidbits

The official website of World Wrestling Entertainment has ranked the ‘Top 25 Greatest Managers of All Time.’ A quick recap of which Divas have made the list: The Horny Little She-Devil, Terri Runnels, came in at number twenty two, as the ever notorious Sunny ranks in at number thirteen. Sherri Martel just barley makes the top ten coming in at number eleven, while the forever eloquent Miss Elizabeth does, finding herself in at number eight, respectfully. To view the complete list, head on over to WWE.Com

According to Jim Ross’ latest blog, via his official website, he is reporting that WWE Diva Mickie James was involved in a car accident on Monday late night leaving Raw and heading to Omaha. Black ice was the culprit, though she escaped serious injury on the treacherous roads during frigid weather.

Mary Blinstrubas, Stephanie McMahon‘s executive assistant who had been with the company since November of 2006, was released from her duties. It was said she is to be pretty much incompetent and “constantly was sending out creative scripts via e-mail to random departments within the company, putting random people in the loop on creative before Vince even had a chance to review the shows, [and] had humorous slip ups where she’d call Michael Hayes ‘Virgil’ and call Virgil ‘Brian’ (after Gewirtz). She’d also accidentally patch in important calls with random extensions on the WWE board during conference calls with Vince.” Other duties had included: personal shopping, relying messages to the family nanny, etc.

According to an unnamed source within World Wrestling Entertainment, Tiffany “New York” Pollard may become a pro wrestler. The ‘source’ claims that the wrestling organization has been in negotiations with Tiffany for months to join them. And the insider claims that the two sides are pretty close to a deal. ‘New York’ may indeed play an “integral role” in Wrestlemania 25 – on April 5th.

WWE.Com has confirmed Victoria‘s official retirement, as the following preview had been posted on their SmackDown Superstars Page: Veteran WWE Diva Victoria plans to retire following her match with Michelle McCool this Friday on SmackDown. What will this vivacious vixen do in the final match of her career?

WWE & Playboy: Are We Not Out of the Woods Yet?

5

Perhaps it was wishful thinking on our part, but our speculation that the WWE has dropped their Playboy endeavors seemed to have been proven true, what with the lack of news on that forefront. However, Playboy has reared its ugly airbrushed head again, but is it a sign from the future or just a coincidence?

You see, Playboy recently canceled it’s long-running Super Bowl party, only to replace it with one in tampa, Florida (eloquently named the “Models and Bottles” party) chock full of Playboy Playmates – 11 to be exact. You might have heard of one of them.. Ashley Massaro? No? Doesn’t ring a bell? Well, another name on that list caught my eye – Kelly Kelly. Now, I know she hails from Tampa, but it’s been long rumored that Kelly would be the next Diva Playboy covergirl, and this association makes it seem .00001% more likely. I guess I’m just nervous that the Playboy shtick may not be dead and buried.

Let’s face it – Kelly is in prime Playboy positioning, character-wise. She’s gettign a gradual push, she’s a popular bayface, and could easily be pushed into a Women’s Championship feud to supplement the Playboy cover. What do you think – is that likely? WrestleMania is right around the corner and the time’s cutting short, but do you think Kelly’s the girl, and it’s just been well hidden thus far? Cast your vote below and tell us what you think!

ECW is quickly becoming a more Diva-oriented show and last night’s broadcast was no exception, bringing us Alicia Fox and Katie Lea Burchill in action once again:

For Eve and Maryse, Pants Are Optional

4

In an effort to keep up with the deluge of recent Diva photoshoots, I’ve once again condensed two into one. This time, Eve Torres and Maryse have to share a seat. Eve‘s “She’s Got the Look” photoshoot features the seldom-seen Diva in a bright fuchsia dress. Fuchsia definitely lands on my list of “least favorite colors”.. It just rarely looks good, in my opinion. If the dress were in a more understated color, it’d look better. Here, it looks like trashy clubwear. Eve is a beautiful girl, and needless to say, she could do much better. Maryse is on the minidress train too. Her black dress is a better look, but it looks more suited as a top than a dress. It’s so short, I’m surprised we aren’t seeing London or France, if you get my drift.

Breaking: Victoria Retires

26

Without giving away actual ‘spoilers’ to this weeks edition of SmackDown, I shall make the judgment call and spill the beans a little early: Victoria‘s going to officially announce her retirement from World Wrestling Entertainment. Grab your chest and let your heart skip a beat… I know.

Now, I know, I know… many would like to believe that this is just a work (hell, I know I do), but in all reality, that would just be wishful thinking. With WWE on a budget cost cutting-spree… I figure they gave Victoria the axe with a little dignity. Mind you, she will have one last match come Friday night, but her curtain call isn’t exactly like Trish Stratus‘s, but I think we can all agree (once you read the spoilers) that her send off is much better than Lita‘s. Much. But with this recent departure, does that mean Gail Kim is this close to making her debut? Bittersweet, to say the least.

Still, it’s sad to announce that the “last Diva from the Golden Era” will soon make her departure… but she’s had a good run. She’s made us hate her, love her, and for the most part, laugh with her. From Victoria to just plain Lisa Marie… Thank You.

Raw Redux – January 12, 2009

10

rawredux12jan09

Raw Redux returns with some changes! Erin and I will both be contributing to the Redux as a ‘no frills’ thoughts column. Hopefully, this idea will be replicated with the SmackDown Redux too.

Raw Recap
With Beth Phoenix and Melina‘s Women’s Championship match just over a week away, the Glamazon teamed up with Jillian to take on Kelly Kelly and the No. 1 Contender. However, before the match could begin, Beth’s ‘No. 1 fan’, Rosa Mendes – disguised as a member of Melina’s paparazzi – attacked Melina. After being hauled away by security, the beatdown continued as Beth and Jillian attacked Kelly and Melina on the outside.

Erin:
First of all, was this “Inside the (Bad) Actors Studio” for Raw or what? Seeing Candice and Mickie trying desperately to have convincing small talk with their respective superstars was painful and gave me a terrible case of 2nd hand embarrassment. It makes both girls look more useless than not having them on the show at all, though I can’t really blame CM Punk for flat-out ignoring Candice. That voice must be like white noise after a while.

As for some Diva action that was a bit more worth our while, the tag team match that never was. We had already seen this match a few weeks ago (December 15th to be exact – that’s when Kelly single-handedly defeated Jillian and Beth..) Anyways, the match never even got started, thanks to Rosa showing up dressed (rather unconvincingly I might say) as a man. I mean, it’s not like they zoomed in on her face while she was disguised, but pretty much all she did was put on pants, a large wrestling t-shirt and a fedora. At least she jumped Melina pretty quick and revealed herself before it became too obvious. Anywho, I liked this angle, as I’ll take anything over a tag team match we’ve seen a billion times. A good old-fashioned beat down changes the pace a bit. I’m getting more and more interested with where this story’s going, as the focus is almost being pulled away from Beth being Rosa’s obsession to being a thorn in Melina’s side. Is she meant to stalk Beth or Melina? I guess that’s not quite clear yet..

On another note, is it weird that I was more concerned for that thousand dollar camera Beth was holding, as opposed to Melina? I mean, the strobe alone must be a couple hundred bucks.. I sure as hell wouldn’t be letting her hold it so recklessly. :P Maybe I’m just bitter than I can’t afford anything better than one of those tiny Kodak digital cameras.. Don’t mind me. I’ll be in the corner, sulking.

Melanie:
Interesting night for the Divas this week and I have to say, it worked out pretty well. I like that rather than just having a match, they went for a powerful beatdown segment. The writers have really improved Raw’s women’s division since Melina’s comeback and current storyline with Beth. Rather than a meaningless match every week, they’re booking this one strongly with different ideas and I like that. If they can book segments and promos for the Superstars, why not the Divas too? SmackDown has had a good variety of both, so it’s nice to see Raw finally wising up.

Rosa Mendes found a way to get back in the building, but for the life of me, I don’t understand why one of Melina’s paps would dress like Charlie Chaplin in the first place. Surely a pap in a suit and bowler hat should ring off some alarm as you’re coming down the ramp? And yet again, Rosa attacks Melina. I think some may complain that Rosa’s been attacking Melina every week now and that they need to advance this storyline, I expect we’ll have to wait till the Royal Rumble for any real advancement. The question for now is how will Rosa get back into the building next week? Dress up as a referee? Hide between Candice’s breasts? We’ll see…

And if poor Melina hadn’t been attacked once already, she gets double teamed by Beth and Jillian which puts the kaput on their tag match. I would say Beth and Jill had every right to attack Kelly Kelly, I mean tartan really? I would attack the girl too! This was nicely done, I liked the nice shot of Beth throwing Melina into the barricade. As Erin pointed out, I don’t think Beth could quite work the camera lol. I think it’d have been more effective if they had a little tutorial prior backstage; it would’ve been cool to see Beth just hit the flash in Melina’s eyes or something. And the fact she didn’t hit Melina with the camera goes to show that WWE is taking the economic recession seriously, lord knows how much one costs to replace! But when you have a camera and a beatdown, logic dictates you smash it over her head… so again, kinda lame. But somehow these four Divas made it work.

I’m showing my ‘Creative Team Meeting‘ hand for next week a little early, but I’ll go ahead and predict that this week’s would-be match will be carried over to next week.

What do you do when you’re not being booked in a storyline? Randomly talk to Superstars! Candice and Mickie James displayed why husbands tune out when their wives are talking: inane chatter. Their acting really felt ‘special needs’, if you catch my flow. Like Erin said, it would have probably been wiser to keep them off TV. I guess someone just wanted to show off Candice’s cheap new extensions.

Spoilers for tonight’s ECW below:

Alicia Fox & DJ Gabriel def. Katie Lea & Paul Burchill

Dual, Bifold, Pair, Twofold..

Whatever you call them, Nikki and Brie Bella have posed for yet another double photoshoot. This one is called “Twice as Nice”, and features the twin sisters in two different outfits. Though, as always, they’re wearing the exact same thing. The first set features the Bellas in their red ring gear, with a flower adorning one ear. In the the second set, they’re wearing taupe dresses, which while virtually shapeless, still flatter them. The both look stunning in each outfit, but I don’t know how many times they can pull the “dress them identically” shtick before it gets tired. Personally I’m already sick of it. I mean, there’s only so many synonyms for “twins” out there..

Christy Hemme Suffers Neck Injury

18

TNA post… really, Melanie? I know right!

For those of you who pay attention to TNA, apparently they have a pay per view tonight (who knew?) which was to feature a match between Christy Hemme and Awesome Kong. However, as of last night, Hemme is out of the match after suffering a legitimate neck injury. TNA is expected to announce a replacement for Hemme at tonight’s event, however PWInsider is reporting that it will more than likely be Kong’s former rival, Taylor Wilde.

In recent months, TNA has been pushing Hemme as an in-ring competitor, for reasons beyond my understanding, but hey if Candice can be Women’s Champion, Christy may as well get in on the action. That said, our best wishes go out to Christy.

This seems to be just another setback for TNA’s blase Knockouts division, which has been on a downward spiral for the past six months. Maybe they should just put the final nail in the coffin and be done with it?

SmackDown Watch: January 9, 2009

Better late than never, right? Last night’s SmackDown saw Michelle McCool take part in her first match as a full-fledged heel, teaming up with Victoria against the Bella Twins. Watch…

THE BELLA TWINS VS MICHELLE MCCOOL & VICTORIA

I’m still not sold on Michelle’s heel mannerisms, the way she segues into push ups looks retarded. But other than her lame attempts at acting cocky, I think she did a good job beating down Victoria. Maybe she needs to move away from trying to act as the ‘cocky heel’ like Maryse and be more of a competetive, aggressive heel. I like that she beats down people when she loses her matches and stuff, concentrate on that.

Trish Still Wanted For ‘Mania, But…

michelle-trishA few weeks ago we reported WWE was aiming to court to Diva legend, Trish Stratus to appear at WrestleMania 25 in April against Beth Phoenix.

Well, WWE is still aiming to court Diva legend, Trish Stratus to appear at WrestleMania 25 in April against… Michelle McCool. Collective gasp.

The idea of a Trish Stratus vs. Michelle McCool match at WrestleMania was discussed at a creative meeting last week. Many felt a Beth Phoenix vs. Stratus match would be good, but officials felt they’ve done it already with the mixed tag match a few weeks ago. After Stratus’ performance in her match on Raw, the feeling is that she’s still good enough to pull out a decent match with McCool that would be entertaining. There is also hope that the rub from Stratus would help McCool get over.

As with anything McCool-related, this will surely draw some ire from Diva fans across the Internet. “Oh my God, it’s totes because Michelle went to Undertaker to go to management.” But I don’t know, while Trish vs Beth may be the obvious choice, I kinda like this idea too.

Michelle, like Trish, started from scratch and unfolded into a great wrestler before our very eyes so that’d make for an interesting storyline. Michelle has shown a lot of growth over the last year, both as a wrestler and character and I think there could be a lot to work with between these two. I think a Trish-Beth storyline could be pretty paint-by-numbers, Beth is the dominant heel yadda yadda. Meanwhile, Michelle’s a very interesting character as she’s gone from fan favourite to heel and I think that could make for some interesting interaction between her and Trish.

I’m still hoping Trish won’t be part of ‘Mania and we give the rub to the current Divas instead…

Alicia is Indeed “Fox”y

Alicia Fox is the WWE’s newest Diva, so it’s about time she’s had her Eye Candy christening. Her new studios have been added to WWE.com without fanfare or a photoshoto title, so I’ve taken the liberty to name it myself – “My Hero”. Her comic book-inspired to shirt was obviously the inspiration. It’s cute and fun, just like the entire photoshoot. It’s unique too – hell, I don’t think I’d ever see a Diva wear Soffee shorts in a photoshoot. If every Alicia shoot is this interesting, I can’t wait to see more.

Smackdown Divas to Remake “Dumb & Dumber”

7

Okay not really, but with these photoshoots it wouldn’t be too tough. Maria and Michelle McCool are their own brands of ridiculous in their new photoshoots, “Touch of Color” and “Dream Control”, respectively. We’ve already seen a bit of Maria‘s look from the New Years photoshoot, and it’s as ridiculous now as it was then. The hair, the flower, the glove, and the dress.. All of it’s just over the top, and it doesn’t help to have such dramatic expressions, either. It honestly looks like a “glamour shot” out of the 80s, and I’m pretty sure she wasn’t going for that.

Michelle is a walking billboard for Dream Control, apparently. Some quick Googling of that name brought me to a designer hat company, which I can only assume is the same company that outfitted her in a black skullcap and scarf. Some people can pull off all black, but Michelle isn’t one of them, at least not in this fashion. It’s all overkill, like she kept layering stuff on and forgot to say “when”. You know the old saying attributed to Coco Chanel, “Always take off one thing before leaving the house.”? Yeah, Michelle apparently hasn’t.

Out of the Blue and Into the Black

I haven’t covered photoshoots in a while, so what better way to return to these posts than to feature a Diva we haven’t seen in while? Melina hasn’t had a new photoshoot in ages, though I’m not sure she would have felt too sexy posing in an ankle brace while out on injury. In this photoshoot, “Royal Blue, she’s wearing her Slammy Awards dress. I wasn’t fond of the dress when I first saw it on that Raw, and it’s not growing on me much here. She wears it well and the sash is cute (I like that she incorporates it into her poses), but overall the look is a little funky. Maybe it’s because it’s in royal blue and gold – my former high school’s colors. It makes me think someone went overboard during Spirit week or something.. Regardless, it’s nice to see Melina back into the photoshoot rotation. Hey, there’s a reason she won best photoshoot of the year..

ECW Watch: January 6, 2009

11

2009 is getting off to a good start for us Diva fans, as ECW has finally gotten in on the action! In her first ever WWE match, Alicia Fox took on Katie Lea in her first ever ECW match. Watch below:

ALICIA FOX VS KATIE LEA

For such a short match, this was actually very good. As I wrote in my ‘Big FCW Post‘ last year, I’m very impressed by Alicia’s in-ring skills and she brought that to ECW last night. Alicia looks incredibly comfortable in the ring for a newcomer; she’s good at taking bumps, she’s good at offense and doesn’t necessarily need to be carried through a match like some of the other developing wrestlers on the Divas roster. Hopefully we’ll see more of her in future, because I think she has a lot to offer.

Meanwhile, I think this is Katie’s best outing yet since her debut. Her matches thus far have been lackluster and somewhat boring, her matches with Mickie James last year were just not up to snuff, but here she came across aggressive and had a fierce nature about her. There’s definitely something salvagable in Katie, because on Raw she was coming dangerously close to becoming Jillian 2.0. Moving her to ECW, it turns out, was a good move.

A nice effort from both Divas, this match wouldn’t look out of place on Raw or SmackDown. No one can expect these two to get more time given ECW’s running time, but they used their time well.

Nice change for WWE, as we’ll have had four Divas matches this week!
