Just a few weeks ago, AEW announced a new tournament for their women’s division. The winner will determine the number one contender for Hikaru Shida’s AEW Women’s World Championship. Shida has held the title since the Double or Nothing event last May where she defeated Nyla Rose.
The matches for this tournament will take place in the United States and Japan. As a result, it will have a U.S. side of the brackets and a Japanese side. It will be a total of 16-women.
The Japanese side of the brackets will include the following:
- Aja Kong
- Yuka Sakazaki
- Veny
- Emi Sakura
- Ryo Mizunami
- Mei Suruga
- Rin Kadokura
- Maki Itoh
The United States side of the brackets will include the following:
- NWA World Women’s Champion Serena Deeb
- Riho
- Dr. Britt Baker
- Tay Conti
- Thunder Rosa
- Nyla Rose
- Anna Jay
- Leyla Hirsch
The promo video stated the tournament will start this month in February but did not give an exact date.
