Perfect 10: Week of September 22nd

The Perfect 10 returns! The premise is simple: We will rank the ten Divas or Knockouts who we think have had the best week of television, similar to WWE.com’s Power 25. Who will make the grade and who will fall short? It’s all new and exclusive only at Diva Dirt!

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 22nd – SEPTEMBER 28th, 2008

10. Candice Michelle (Last Week: #8)
Candice drops two spots to this week’s #8 after a rather unimpressive appearance on Raw. Can the Go Daddy Girl create some sparks by winning the Women’s Championship at No Mercy?

Erin: I don’t get the WWE’s strategy in hiding Candice backstage when she has a Women’s Title match in less than two weeks. This does nothing for her – all it does it remind us that she and Beth are feuding, but two weeks out from the big match, we need much more than that. It doesn’t build hype for the match AT ALL, and it’s kind of ridiculous.
Melanie: Hi Candice, bye Candice..

09. Layla (Last Week: #7)
Layla drops two spots too, coming in at this week’s #9. Layla was a no show on Raw this week, just when she’d been making so much progress.

Erin: I hate when the WWE isn’t consistent with storylines – they need to keep the interest up, and skipping weeks hurts that considerably. People are going to forget that Layla is even with Regal!
Melanie: I miss Layla.

08. Taylor Wilde (Last Week: #6)
Taylor Wilde continues the trend… dropping two spots as well! The Knockouts Champ was nowhere to be seen on Impact.

Erin: So much for being a big-time champion. This shows the lack of excitement around her title reign, and makes me wonder whether or Angel should have won the title at the PPV. I have a feeling things would be a lot more interesting if she had.
Melanie: Taylor is a paper champion, expect her to lose at Bound For Glory.

07. Maria (New Entry)
Maria is a brand new entry on the Perfect 10 this week at #7. The Playboy covergirl scored a pinfall victory over Victoria in tag action.

Erin: She’s getting exposure, but it’s only for the benefit of the new girl – Brie. Once Nicole shows up, where’s Maria going to go? Brie will have a built-in tag team partner, so she won’t need to be buddy-buddy with Maria any longer.
Melanie: I think Maria is finally starting to show improvement the way Michelle, Kelly and Layla did before her. No one said it would happen over night, now a few months on, you can see an improvement. Still has a long way to go.

06. Kelly Kelly (New Entry)
Kelly scored an upset and impressive victory over Beth Phoenix on Raw, giving her a high new entry at #6.

Erin: It’s baffling how Kelly scored a win over Beth, but more power to her! The WWE is obviously pushing her as the ultimate underdog, so if they keep this up in the coming weeks, she’ll build integrity and possibly even surpass Mickie James in her spot as a top babyface. I’m not saying I’m wishing for that to happen, but it looks likely. As they say, out with the old, in with the new..
Melanie: Kelly is a great underdog character, she gets over well with the fans as such anyway.

05. Beth Phoenix (Last Week: #5)
Beth stays at #5 this week, despite an upset loss at the hands of Kelly Kelly.

Erin: As I mentioned above, it was insane that Kelly could defeat Beth, but she’s still champ. Maybe she can keep her dominant demeanor, but there’s no telling what’s going to happen at No Mercy. They’re barely even building up the match, so is it going to be a lackluster Women’s Title win for Candice or a run-of-the-mill retainment for Beth?
Melanie: Big week for Beth in the coming week, so I guess she’ll try and put this loss behind her.

04. Michelle McCool (Last Week: #1)
Michelle McCool’s one week reign at the top has come to an end! The Divas Champion is now at #4 on the Perfect 10 after a loss to Maryse.

Erin: That match was excellent, and I prefer that Maryse got the win this time. Michelle constantly winning would risk repetitiveness. Even though Maryse got the best of her, this match showed how well the two girls work together and helped expose SmackDown’s Divas division to a wider audience. Michelle, as always, is still their golden girl..
Melanie: Michelle was great, but just not good enough on this occasion.

03. Maryse (Last Week: #4)
Last week’s #4 is this week’s #3. Maryse finally got one over on Michelle with a win on ECW.

Erin: It took a while, but this win shows that she may become Divas Champion yet. It doesn’t look like her feud with Michelle is over just yet, and these consistently solid matches are a testament to both her and Michelle’s improvement as of late. Will this win turn into a winning streak? Perhaps, and if that happens, we could be looking at SmackDown’s next Divas Champ.
Melanie: Maryse is still in the title picture and I wouldn’t be surprised if she became the champion soon too.

02. Brie Bella (Last Week: #3)
Brie Bella’s unstoppable streak continues! The Diva remains undefeated on SmackDown.

Erin: She sure is unstoppable! But, with how obvious they made the Brie/Nicole switch this week, it looks like she may be exposed quite soon. But will that stop her winning streak or not?
Melanie: There’s about to be two of them!

01. Awesome Kong (Last Week: #2)
The dominant Awesome Kong takes the #1 spot for the first ever time! Will she add title gold to her streak at Bound For Glory?

Erin: I cannot see how she won’t become Knockout Champ – Taylor was MIA on Impact, while Kong continues to blaze her way to the top. It almost seems too obvious.. Hm..
Melanie: Kong keeps getting win after win, it’s almost predictable but it gets the job done hence Kong at #1.

Extra Analysis
Goodbye: Falling off the chart this week are Jacqueline (#10) and The Beautiful People (#9).
New Entries: The highest new entry is Kelly Kelly at #6, followed by Maria at #8.
So Close, Yet So Far: Roxxi is a woman on the verge on both Impact and on the Perfect 10. Will she be able to bow on the chart next week?
