Possible Women’s Rumble Shockers

2. THE HALL OF FAMER
With the Royal Rumble heading into its 31st year and the first ever Women’s Rumble, I’m pretty sure that we can expect the WWE to splash the cash to get big names involved with this event. Although, that is precarious to say, since we know what happened in 2009 at the “Miss WrestleMania” battle royal at WrestleMania 25 when the legends turned down the offer… Thankfully, we’ve come a long way since then and after the uproar of James Ellsworth technically winning the first ever Money in the Bank ladder match, I’m sure we will be avoiding any men getting involved with this match.

That aside, while it’s great to have former Champions involved, it’s even better to get Hall of Famers involved.

Trish Stratus has already hinted that she might want to get involved. I’m sure most of us have played with her character in WWE2K18 to take on today’s crop of women, but how amazing would it be for Trish’s giggle to hit the PA system as an entrant in the Rumble. Trish Stratus having a face off with Alexa Bliss and Mandy Rose would also be hilarious to see!

Conversely, her long-time frenemy and fellow Hall of Famer, Lita, has said that she is stoked for ‘these’ women, so one can assume that she’ll be training these women instead of taking part. Never say never with the Rumble though, Trish and Lita head to head in a Women’s Rumble? Never ever thought I’d be able to say that!

Interestingly, Class of 2015 Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze predicted the Women’s Rumble, tweeting this just moments before the actual live announcements… so maybe there’s been some discussion about this already? Blayze made a recent appearance at RISE as a manager, but has not actually wrestled a match since 2001 so a potential Rumble appearance would be a return to the ring after 17 years! How awesome would that be?

Finally our last possible prospect is our most recent Hall of Famer, Beth Phoenix. Our brains started whirring when Natalya cut her promo after her match at Clash of Champions, stating that she was done with the WWE. Since then, she has aligned with the Welcoming Committee… but one can’t help but think that she may have been calling on someone. Who else better to call on except The Glamazon, for the ‘Divas of Doom’ to run roughshod through the women’s division one more time. With Phoenix announced as a guest commentator for the Mixed Match Challenge this January, this does mean that she’ll be on the road so her chances must be sky rocketing!
