Tonight at WrestleMania, 10 Divas will be showcased at the grandest stage of them all. The team of Beth Phoenix, Eve Torres, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly & Mickie James will take on the team of Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, Divas Champion Maryse, Alicia Fox, Layla and Vickie Guerrero. Who will come out on top? The Diva Dirt writers weigh in:
Cryssi: It’s WrestleMania, the biggest show of the year, and the show where more often than not, the faces rise to take the victory. I could sit here and go with the faces. It’s the most logical choice. However, I expect to see the faces (namely Beth) dominate this match until the last possible second. I think Mickie James goes for Michelle much to the chagrin of Beth, and those two end up having an altercation. I say Beth tags herself in which leads to an altercation between Mickie and Beth, which gives Michelle McCool time to recover thanks to the distraction, and hit the Faith Breaker on Beth. Then in a fun twist to things, I say she makes the tag to Vickie, the heels come in and clean house with the faces, and Vickie picks up the pin on the Glamazon, adding fuel to the already burning fire between Simply Flawless and Beth, and giving Mickie James something to work with since it looks like she is ready to make her return. I say Team Michelle take the win.
Erin: I think that main thing to look out for in this match is some form of “humiliation” for Vickie. It’s kind of become her shtick by now, but I’d much prefer it in this way than the shenanigans the WWE has had her doing in the past. That could result in losing the match for her team or simply being beaten up after the match, but I have a feeling the WWE will go for the “feel good” win and have the babyfaces, Team Beth defeat the heels, probably with Beth or someone getting the pin on Vickie. I just don’t feel there’s been enough proper buildup for there to be more to the match than that — Vickie getting her comeuppance.
Melanie: I am fairly confident that Team Beth will pick up the win at WrestleMania. ‘Mania is usually when the babyfaces get their big moment and I could see them going for the babyfaces celebrating at match’s end. I don’t think tonight will be about storyline or continuing storyline because WWE has shown so little care for the Divas on this card, but it’d be smart if Beth picked up the win because that could be used to further her momentum towards the Women’s Championship. It would be a great WrestleMania moment to see Beth hit the Glam Slam on Vickie for the win — it’ll have people talking and if you ask me, that’s the only thing that could salvage this shambles of a booking situation.
Steven: After watching Friday’s edition of SmackDown, my vote for this match would have to go to Team Beth. She has so much momentum going into ‘Mania and a win here, especially if she manages to pin Vickie or Michelle, will solidify her spot as the #1 Contender for the Women’s Championship.
