Further news on a WWE Queen of the Ring Tournament taking place is making the rounds. The news first broke from Wrestling Inc. who stated the idea was back on the table after it was nixed last year. Andrew Zarian from MatMen Podcast then added that it will likely take place on Oct. 8 and Oct. 11.
Now, Zarian has added that the current plan is to hold the finals of the tournament in the upcoming Saudi Arabia event that is reportedly planned for October. At this time WWE has not confirmed the QOTR Tournament happening or a return to Saudi Arabia.
WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia has been a controversial decision overall and originally the women were not permitted to participate in events held in the Kingdom. This started to shift when Renee Young became the first woman to be on the announce table. This led to the first women’s match ever in Saudi Arabia which was Natalya vs. Lacey Evans at Crown Jewel in 2019. At Super ShowDown in February 2020 Bayley defended her SmackDown Women’s Title against Naomi.
