Queen’s Crown Tournament Reportedly In Talks For A Return

WWE fans may be seeing another Queen of the Ring Tournament or as it was named in 2021, Queen’s Crown Tournament.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is talking about bringing back the King of the Ring premium live event for 2023. The last time the full event was held was in 2015 with the prior being 2002. With that, would come not only the King of the Ring tournament but likely one for the women’s roster as well. It has also been rumored that Triple H will be restructuring the premium live event calendar for next year, including removing the Day 1 event from the schedule.

“There is talk of bringing back the King of the Ring tournament with a show that would be both King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring.”

In 2021, a first occurred for the women with the Queen’s Crown Tournament crowning Zelina Vega as the official first winner. She would defeat Toni Storm, and Carmella before facing Doudrop in the finals at the Crown Jewel event. The tournament received a lot of negative feedback from fans due to its short matches. Most being under two minutes. The final match was booked for nearly six minutes.

Winning the crown did propel Vega with a series of wins and eventually a Women’s Tag Team Championship reign alongside Carmella.
