Cora Jade has been on a mission ever since the second annual Dusty Tag Team Classic was confirmed for February. The brackets are still yet to be revealed but with her friendship with Raquel Gonzalez, she feels that them being partners is an easy decision. Gonzalez has thought otherwise.
Being one-half of last year’s winners, Gonzalez expects her partner to be able to handle what it takes to make it all the way and win (as she did with Dakota Kai). She didn’t feel as though Jade was the one who could do that. The two had a match against each other this week.
Gonzalez picked up the win against her friend with a one-arm powerbomb to score the three count. After the match, Jade crawled to the ropes to give herself some leverage to get back to her feet. Gonzalez looked like she was about to leave the ring but she came back and helped Jade up. She shook her hand and agreed to be her partner and said “let’s go and win this.” The two left the ring together.
Other matches from tonight’s NXT 2.0 included the return of Sarray as she faced Kayla Inlay while Wendy Choo battled Amari Miller.
Sarray had taken a bit of an absence to return to Japan. Since she has returned stateside she had one match on 205 Live but now she has a more focused gimmick coming back on NXT. She made short work of Inlay and explained later on in a backstage interview that she feels she can do anything now with her necklace from her Grandmother. Dakota Kai appeared and mocked her.
The third and final women’s match was Wendy Choo taking on Amari Miller with special interest from Tiffany Stratton. Stratton says if Miller defeats Choo then she will take her shopping. Despite Stratton striking up this deal, she made her way to ringside but that caused Miller to be distracted for Choo to pick up the win.
Post-match, Stratton started yelling at Miller telling her that they had a deal. Choo ended up having “Daddy’s credit card” which Miller was holding onto for when she planned on winning the match.
In a backstage segment Brooks Jensen was seeking dating advance from Indi Hartwell, Persia Pirotta, and Dexter Lumis. He wants to ask out Kayden Carter.
Lastly, the first promo aired showing that Nikkit Lyons was coming soon. Lyons has had a couple of matches on 205 Live but has yet to make her debut for the NXT brand. She fell short in her debut against Amari Miller but bounced back in her second match scoring a victory over Erica Yan. The promo showed a backstory to Lyons and provides character to her as she intends on coming for the women of NXT.
