Ahem. Check. Check. Is this thing on? Excuse me, while I sing us a little song.
“Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu can daaaaaaaaaaaaaanceeeeeeeeeeee. Youuuu caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Having the time of your lifeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee….”
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I’m sorry, but did someone just throw a rotten tomato at me? Really? Wait… ow!!! OW!!! OH MY GOD!!!
“DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCIIIIIIIINNNNGGGGGGG QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNN!!! YOUNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG ANDDDDDDDDDD SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTT….”
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
OMG! Alright fine. I’m done. But seriously, how dare all of your roll your eyes and ignore my tribute to the newest Diva on the WWE roster, the true dancing queen… EMMA!!! Last night, in a hard fought battle with the QUEEN OF SLAY, Miss Summer Rae, Emma picked up the first of what’s sure to be many victories in her young career on Raw.
Goofy entrance aside, Santino Marella and his presence aside, the match itself was fun. Much like the Elimination Chamber, it wasn’t exactly a match of the year candidate but it showed off Summer Rae’s beautiful heel tendencies and the adorable characteristics that make Emma so popular with the crowd. I loved the back and forth start to the match, with Summer carrying the momentum and looking like the much more experienced girl. She has taken to wrestling so quick that she honestly looks like she’s been doing it for years. Some people are just born to do certain things, and I don’t think it’s farfetched to say that Summer was tailor made for World Wrestling Entertainment.
The start to the match was unique. Emma caught a charging Summer, but Summer turned it into a nice little takedown and started wailing on Emma. Whatever offense Emma tried to muster in the beginning, Summer had an answer for including a beautiful spinning heel kick that totally gave me Stacy Keibler vibes. Summer threw Emma towards the ropes, right where Santino was standing, and started choking her, all the while she taunted Santino. It was awesome.
Summer kept it up by grounding Emma, locking their arms together in a position where it put an enormous amount of pressure on the side of Emma’s neck and face (I guess… to be honest, the technical terms of wrestling just aren’t my thing). Regardless, it looked super cool and Emma made it look super painful, which is exactly what two people are supposed to do inside the ring, right? That’s what I thought. So anyway, the crowd rallies behind the lovable NXT Dancing Queen and eventually, Emma fights her way out.
Upon further inspection the submission looks like some intricate arm lock or something. WRESTLING!!!!
But, yeah. Summer makes a mistake which Emma is able to capitalize on and she grabs the Total Diva star by the leg and jerks her down. Summer is shocked and realizes a little to late that Emma is about to lock her in the Emmalock. It doesn’t take long for Summer Rae to tap out and Fandango quickly snatches his lady love and partner from the ring. Santino and Emma awkwardly celebrate her huge win, and we are left with a feud far more exciting than anything involving the Diva’s Championship at the moment.
Yeah, I went there.
What can I say? I loved this in every aspect. Summer Rae continues to prove why she’s one of the WWE’s top Divas and it’s only a matter of time before she gets her hands on that Diva’s Championship. Emma, ridiculous gimmick aside, is without a shadow of a doubt one of the standouts, male or female, down in NXT. She deserves her spot on the main roster and I can not wait for Thursday night to see her and Paige tear the house down. I love these those two girls so much and I know they’re going to give us something memorable.
Raw was great tonight. Loved it. Until next time! And I promise, no more singing. Unless of course you really truly hated it and then I’ll make sure to open every Redux from here on out with some type of melodious tribute to whichever Diva I decide to spotlight. =)
Namaste!
