As we reported earlier, the Knockouts Tag Team Championships were retired when Brooke Hogan forced ODB and Eric Young to relinquish their belts a few weeks ago on Impact.
A report from PWInsider has been released, citing several the reasons for their retirement. According to the report, TNA feels there are not enough Knockouts at this time for the belts to have much meaning. When the titles were first introduced in 2010, there were many women on their active roster, but the division has been noticeably downsized in the past few years.
Another reason being given is that TNA has too many other concepts running (Gutcheck, Bound for Glory Series, Open Fight Night, etc.). The feeling is that the belts were lost in the shuffle and only cluttering up the program even more.
As of now, there are no plans to bring the belts back.
What do you think? Was retiring the titles the right move?
