TMZ has updated its earlier story on the arrests of indy stars Reby Sky and Matt Hardy, shedding some light on the events that lead to the violent altercation that earned them both assault and battery charges.
The report states that the New Year’s Day altercation was triggered when Reby “asked a seemingly intoxicated Matt if he had been drinking or using other substances that night.”
TMZ notes that Matt has a history of substance abuse, having previously attended WWE-sponsored rehab.
They also add that the couple – who were married last October – have “talked out their issues” and are committed to making their marriage work.
Reby apparently does not plan to comment on the matter, tweeting today that she doesn’t owe an explanation to anyone:

On his own Twitter account, Matt has co-signed that statement. Both appear determined to put the incident behind them.
