Fresh off the announcement that she will provide commentary for the Mae Young Classic II, the WWE have announced that Renee Young will serve as a commentator on next week’s Monday Night RAW.
She will be filling in for Johnathan Coachman who has a prior engagement that night, and will join Michael Cole and Corey Graves on the commentary table. This will be the first time that a woman has commentated Monday Night RAW from start to finish.
In a comment to ESPN, Renee said:
“When Michael told me, I was like, ‘This Monday?! What are you talking about?!’ I am so excited for this opportunity. To be sitting with Cole, who has been such a great champion of mine since I’ve been working for WWE, it’s going to be really cool.”
Cole had nothing but high praise for Young himself, saying:
“Renee has broken barriers all over the place.”
We at Diva-Dirt are familiar with her guest commentary at NXT and on Main Event, her backstage interviewing as well as hosting kick-off shows and the now-defunct “Talking Smack”, she has done more on the “backstage interviewer/correspondent” front for women than has been seen in WWE history. Congratulations to Renee!
Are you excited to see her commentate the whole show? Tune in to see/hear Renee make herstory this Monday!
