On the April 4 episode of SmackDown, the Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair segment fell off the rails. Both women were said to have gone off script and the segment ended in a way that wasn’t at all supposed to happen.
For those who may not have heard, the segment went totally off script. The Chicago crowd had rattled Charlotte who could not get her words out. She also mocked Stratton’s voice. Stratton called Flair a nepo baby in which Charlotte said she is actually the nepo queen. Following this, Stratton said Flair would be walking out of WrestleMania alone just like she is in real life being 0-3, referring to her divorces. Flair had the final words by saying, that is why Kaiser (Stratton’s boyfriend and fellow WWE Superstar) was sliding in her DM’s.
In a report by WrestleVotes, they have found the script of how the segment was supposed to go down. According to the report:
Charlotte Flair was supposed to say the comparisons to Tiffany Stratton were always annoying, but now they’ve pissed her off. She’d say it might be flattering for Tiffany, but it’s an insult to The Queen, and at WrestleMania, she’s taking back what’s hers.
Tiffany would interrupt, questioning why Charlotte thinks she still runs the division after barely wresting in three years. She’d tell her, “You call yourself a queen, but you don’t have a kingdom.”
Charlotte would fire back, saying the only reason Tiffany’s champ is because the MITB briefcase was a ski lift to the top, and now Princess Tiffy’s afraid of heights.
Tiffany’s final line? “Congrats on climbing back up…but falling 13 times doesn’t sound like a real champion. And at WrestleMania you’re falling again.”
In addition, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported more on how the segment took a turn. The exchange started going off script when Charlotte adlibbed by calling herself a nepo-queen. This was after Stratton called her a nepo-baby. However, this wasn’t what caused the friction originally. Once Flair started mocking Stratton’s voice is where it caught the snag. People backstage felt like “Tiffany ‘needed to fight back,’ but that going personal to that degree without it being cleared was ill-advised.”
“Digital producers were instructed to edit the personal relationship references and Charlotte making fun of Tiffany’s voice from the YouTube editions. The general reaction backstage was some confusion when Charlotte emulated Tiffany, and general ‘oh shit,’ when Tiffany and Charlotte got deeply personal.“
While there was heat on both Superstars after the segment, Sapp did not hear of any issues backstage after it was over
