NXT’s resident napper Wendy Choo will be sticking around for a while according to a recent report.
According to Fightful Select, Choo has signed a contract extension with WWE in 2021. After Choo’s performance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic alongside Dakota Kai, Fightful was informed by WWE higher-ups that they have “locked her down with a new deal last year.” The length of the contract was not disclosed.
She was offered the new deal even before returning to television after her injury and as the leader of Tian Sha. The deal wasn’t signed until much later. The Mei Ying gimmick that Choo portrayed was a character that was a personal favorite of Triple H and had the backing of Shawn Michaels.
However, once Triple H fell out of power in NXT and took time away for health issues, the Tian Sha gimmick was scrapped without explanation. The higher-up that Fightful spoke to says that Choo would excel when provided the right opportunity and they are happy with her performance in her current role.
After the Dusty Cup, Choo has still been helping Dakota Kai by being a thorn in the side to Toxic attraction.
