Results: Charlotte wins the SD Women’s Title, Lynch reaches her breaking point

Tonight at SummerSlam, Charlotte Flair became the new SmackDown Women’s Champion when she defeated Carmella and Becky Lynch in Triple Threat match. With the win, Flair now ties WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus with seven title reigns.

At the start of the Triple Threat match, Carmella trash talked her opponents but Flair and Lynch were quick work together against the Champion. Carmella tried to take advantage when a wedge broke between Flair and Lynch, leading to the two friends to trade pin covers on one another.

Lynch takes Flair down with arm drags and went for an early Dis-Arm-Her but Flair escapes. The action moves to the outside, where Carmella sends Flair to the ring post and on the opposite side, Lynch to the steel steps.

Carmella goes for the cover on Lynch but only gets a two count. Flair re-enters the ring but Carmella takes her down with a hair pull to the mat. She sends Flair back to the outside and takes Lynch down with a dropkick when she tried a roll-up from behind. Carmella continues the trash talk as Flair gets back in the ring and lands a big boot on Lynch after Carmella sidesteps out the way. Flair turns her attention to Carmella and tries to rebuild momentum with chops to the chest and a back suplex.

From the ring apron, Lynch lands a knee strike on Flair and climbs the top turnbuckle for a dropkick that takes down both her opponents. Lynch goes his one more time but Carmella knocks her off. Flair hits a spear that takes Lynch and Carmella down but neither women stay down for the three count.

Carmella sets Flair to the top of a turnbuckle but it backfires when Flair counters and sets up for the Figure Four. Before Flair could bridge into the Figure Eight, Lynch breaks things up a leg drop from the top turnbuckle.

A hip attack from Carmella sends Lynch to the outside. Carmella runs the topes and takes Lynch down with a suicide dive. Flair climbs the turnbuckle and takes down both Lynch and Carmella with a Corkscrew Moonsault.

Things head back to the ring where Lynch avoids the Natural Selection and locks in the Dis-Arm-Her but Carmella makes the save. She tries to pull an upset win by using the ropes to get a pin over Lynch but the latter kicks out.

Carmella hits a Super Kick, cover but Flair makes the save. Another kick from Carmella sends Flair to the outside but Lynch applies the Dis-Arm-Her on Carmella. Flair runs back in the ring to hit Natural Selection on Lynch and gets the three count to become the new champion.

Post-match, Flair and Lynch embraced each other but it was only for a moment as Lynch would then unleash an attack inside and outside the ring on Flair.

Despite winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship once again, Flair felt her victory was bittersweet knowing that she lost a friend in Lynch:
