Rhea Ripley Talks Being Compared To Chyna

The 2023 Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley is certainly on cloud nine after her victory over the weekend. After her win, she spoke with Ariel Helwani of BT Sports and the two talked about fans comparing her to Chyna.

“I think it’s cool. I want people to keep saying that. I know Kofi said that he wants to see me go for the IC Title, and I’m so down for it. I love being compared to Chyna. I know I get a lot of hate, which at the same time, is weird, but I understand where it’s coming from, ‘You can’t be the next Chyna!’ Yeah, I know I can’t be the next Chyna. She was absolutely amazing, she was herself, and she was unique to her, but I’m the first Rhea Ripley. If I can get somewhere compared to her, I am doing something right, but I’m also going to be doing it in my own special way. Yeah, I love to see it.” (Fightful)

Chyna has her own history with the Royal Rumble match despite a women’s match not existing during her time with the company. She blazed a trail by being the first woman to ever enter a Rumble (Men’s) match an she did so in back-to-back years.

Ripley has now made history in the women’s Rumble. She is the first woman to win at the number one entry (fourth person overall) and she has tied the longest length in a Rumble match with Liv Morgan. Morgan entered this year’s match at number two and lasted until the end with Ripley.

Now, Ripley has to decide who she will face at WrestleMania.

“I know I’ve got a lot of thinking to do. I’ve got chemistry with both of them girls. I’ve gone to war with both of them multiple times. There’s incentives for me to go to Bianca, and there’s incentives for me to go to Charlotte. So, I’m going to sit down and have a big think about this one.”
