On this week’s AEW Rampage, Riho went one-on-one with AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker in a non-title match.
The match named, ‘Black Friday Deal Match’ was Riho finally getting her chance to earn a championship opportunity. At All Out in September, while taking part in the Casino Battle Royale Match, Riho was never eliminated despite Ruby Soho going on to win it.
Now, Riho has earned her shot after defeating Baker. She countered a fisherman’s neck breaker into a roll-up pin victory. As the very first AEW Women’s Worl Champion, Riho is on the hunt to become the first-ever two-time women’s champion for the company.
A date for the match was not announced at this time but may likely be at the Winter Is Coming event that will air on both Dec. 15 (Dynamite) & Dec. 17 (Rampage).
For next week’s Dynamite, the final quarter-finals match for the tournament to determine the inaugural TBS Women’s Title will take place. It will be Ruby Soho taking on Kris Statlander. The winner faces Nyla Rose in the semi-finals. The other semi-finals match involves Thunder Rosa vs. Jade Cargill. The winner will be decided on Jan. 5 when Dynamite moves to the TBS Network.
