Former AEW Women’s World Champion, Riho could be back in AEW as soon as next month.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that AEW is working on bringing back Riho in February.
Recently AEW announced the first-ever Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament. The sixteen-woman tournament in which the winner becomes the number one contender for the women’s title is “coming soon”. It would make sense that the company would bring their first-ever women’s champion to participate in the tournament.
Riho hasn’t wrestled for AEW since March 18th last year and is reportedly finished with STARDOM. Her final match for the Joshi promotion was on December 26th, and she hasn’t appeared for them since.
If Riho were to return stateside, then there would have to be a time when she must quarantine either side of travel, which could be the reason for the February return date.
