Ronda Rousey debuted during WWE’s landmark Royal Rumble event in January and speculation as to how often she’d be contracted to show up abounded.
She said she was a ‘full time’ star and yet didn’t appear on Raw after her initial debut. This left fans skeptical as to how passionate she really is and what she’d be doing.
Was she going to be a special attraction a la Brock Lesnar or would she be actively competing in the women’s division, possibly squashing talent that’s begun building on the road to WrestleMania?
Today WWE is promising she’ll be appearing at every Raw leading up to WrestleMania, more than likely to start building her match against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H:
“It has been announced that Ronda Rousey will appear on every single episode of Raw leading up to WrestleMania. “Rowdy” Ronda will make special appearances in:
- 3/5 – BMO Harris Bradley Center, Milwaukee
- 3/12 – Little Caesars Arena, Detroit
- 3/19 – American Airlines Center, Dallas
- 3/26 – Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland
- 4/2 – Philips Arena, Atlanta”
Cageside Seats is speculating that, “it’s an indication the creative team is aware how a vocal portion of the fan base views stars who didn’t come up through the independents and/or who work a reduced schedule. In Lesnar’s case, they’re using it to get heat on him. In Rousey’s, they’re trying to head off a negative reaction from people who don’t think she’s “all in” or not entering the business “the right way” – especially since there are already reports her schedule will be similar to Brock’s.”
