Roxanne Perez is officially on NXT 2.0 as she made her in-ring debut this week. She had her first match with the company that aired on last week’s NXT: Level Up in a victory against Sloane Jacobs. On NXT, however, she would go against a champion.
A video promo aired saying that Perez was going to debut next week. The vignette showed the young superstar playing WWE video games saying that she was always told that it was the closest she would ever get to a WWE ring. All that has changed since she was signed with the company earlier in the year.
In a backstage interview, Perez was being asked how does she feel knowing her debut is next week. She says she is super nervous but is something she has been working for. Before she is able to say too much more, Toxic Attraction arrives. Mandy Rose introduces herself and Gigi Dolin/Jacy Jayne and makes sure that Perez knows who is at the top of the division.
Rose tries to give her some advice telling her not to set her bar too high because she will never get there. Jayne says that Perez’s debut should be moved to this week and the two were booked for later in the night.
Perez went toe-to-toe with one-half of tag team champs and received some assistance from Wendy Choo. As Jayne had Perez perhaps exactly where she wanted her to seal the match in her favor, Choo appeared on the big screen. She revealed that she trashed the Toxic Attraction locker room. This completely took Jayne out of the match as Perez hit a Code Red to get the pin which sends Toxic Attraction into hysterics.
This was one of three women’s matches featured on the April 19 edition of NXT 2.0. The first match was the second encounter between Tiffany Stratton and Sarray. These two superstars have been going at it for a number of weeks but only have met once in the ring prior to Stratton getting that victory. Sarray had hoped to tie up the feud but once again Stratton remains on top as she wins this bout.
The third match was the in-ring return for Natalya to NXT. Natalya shocked fans last week when she showed up to confront Cora Jade last week and subsequently call out all the newcomers. Tatum Paxley stepped up to challenge her and the two met this week.
Despite Paxley garnering a near fall on the veteran, Natalya would prove her experience in the win by causing the newbie to tap in a Sharpshooter. Natalya may have won the match but is making way more enemies over friends now that she has graced the NXT 2.0 division.
First, Cora Jade had a new vignette that surrounded the old saying never meet your idols, they will always disappoint you. Jade met her idol last week in that of Natalya and now all she wants to do is kick her ass.
Natalya also met the game-changer, Nikkita Lyons. Lyons has been in a heated rivalry with Lash Legend, but that didn’t stop her from challenging Natalya. The BOAT accepted the challenge. A date for the match between the two has not been confirmed. What has been confirmed is a second round between Lyons and Legend which will take place next week.
Indi Hartwell attempted to help Dexter Lumis and Duke Hudson look more like a tag team. The two faced the new NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly in the main event. Hudson got frustrated about the tag team dynamics and lack of communication from Lumis. Hudson storms out of the locker room when Persia Pirotta entered.
Last but not least, the tag division is heating up. As mentioned earlier, the tag team champions Toxic Attraction have had their issues with Wendy Choo as of late. And now Roxanne Perez. However, two teams met backstage for an interview to throw their names in the ring.
Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz as well as Kayden Carter and the newly named Katana Chance (Kacy Catanzaro) had words in a Digital Exclusive. Chance introduces and explains her new name as both teams declare that they will earn a tag team title shot. Feroz welcomes the KC’s to their jungle. The two teams will clash next week in a number one contenders match.
