Tonight on the Royal Rumble Kickoff, the women of SmackDown will square off in tag team action. Which team will claim bragging rights? The Diva Dirt team weighs in:
Abir: With a returning Mickie James and the Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss on the team, I doubt the heel team will lose. The match will be a lot like the SummerSlam one, where each woman gets to shine, but in the end, Mickie will pick up the win by pinning Becky Lynch. Alexa Bliss/Mickie James/Natalya
Alex: Super excited for this match, probably the hardest one to call of all the matches this weekend. However, I’m seeing the team of fully fledged heel Natalya, the returning Mickie James and the relatively new SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss getting the victory. Three relatively new characters that need the victory to continue their development. Usually the faces win in these multiple women tag matches, but aside from Naomi, the other faces don’t need the win… and if Naomi isn’t going for that title then she doesn’t need the win too. I’m thinking Mickie hits the Mickie-T on Becky for the pinball here. Alexa Bliss/Mickie James/Natalya
Jack: Surely Mickie James won’t lose in her first match back right? Well she did lose at NXT Takeover: Toronto but that was a whole different ball game. I very much doubt they would have Mickie lose in her first showing back (only unless Mickie and Alexa left Nattie by herself at ringside and I don’t see that happening) so Mickie/Alexa/Natalya to win. I assume Mickie will get the win for her team over Becky, furthering their feud. Alexa Bliss/Mickie James/Natalya
Josue: I really want to root for the babyfaces but I think the heels will ultimately win tonight. Even if this is a tag match, this is Mickie’s return match, so I fully expect her to get the win for her team against Becky, while Naomi/Alexa and Natalya/Nikki brawl on the outside ring. Alexa Bliss/Mickie James/Natalya
Kyle: I think this match needs to revolve around Alexa. She needs to shine as the champion and hold her own. This is not “The Nikki Bella Show” and her angles being positioned as more important than the title has got to end. This needs to come down to the champion and potential challenger Naomi comes to blows and Alexa using Mickie as the pawn for the win. Team Bad Girls all day! Alexa Bliss/Mickie James/Natalya
Matthew: I would love to see Naomi feud with Alexa somewhere down the line, and Mickie vs. Becky might go down as the feud that could put women’s wrestling on notice. Also, with Natalya attacking Nikki Bella left and right, there are potential stories in SmackDown’s end. Becky, Naomi and Nikki will get the job done.
Stephanie: Team face should win in order to continue the intertwining stories. I’m honestly OK with either team winning because on SmackDown, everyone is important and a loss doesn’t mean it’s the end, but having Naomi win for her team would help boost her standing when it comes to her impending feud with Alexa. Becky/Naomi/Nikki
BREAKDOWN: 5 for Alexa Bliss/Mickie James/Natalya, 2 for Becky Lynch/Naomi/Nikki Bella.
