Sareee Wants To End Mayu Iwatani’s Reign As IWGP Women’s Champion, Says It Shouldn’t Be Syuri

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, the inaugural Marigold World Champion Sareee says she should be the one to end Mayu Iwatani’s reign as the IWGP Women’s Champion. Iwatani has held this gold since she defeated Mercedes Mone for it back in April 2023. She is approaching two years as champion.

A match for this championship has been set up for All Star Grand Queendom 2025 on April 27 between Iwatani and Syuri. Sareee has gone on to say in her interview and question why Syuri is the one that has the opportunity to take the title away from Iwatani, especially while Syuri is taking part in a play. Sareee adds that she believes Syuri doesn’t even care about the championship as much as she does.

Sareee says that it won’t mean anything if she isn’t the one to end Iwatani’s reign. She promises to be the one to take the gold off of Iwatani even though she won’t be the next challenger.

Both Saree and Syrui have attempted to take the gold from Iwatani in the past. Sareee had challenged Iwatani for this title at All Star Grand Queendom 2024 last April in a losing effort. Syuri challenged for the title at STARDOM Ittenyeon Stardom Gate in January 2024 and came up short as well.
