It is being reported by PWInsider that Mercedes Varnado (Sasha Banks) will be brought in for NJPW’s upcoming event Wrestle Kingdom 17. The event will take place over the course of two nights, January 4 and January 21.
According to the report, Varnado is expected to be at the event according to several sources close to the situation. PWInsider state that while it is unknown whether she will be appearing before the live crowd, they are told that NJPW will be bringing her into the event.
In October, Varnado teased the idea of wrestling former WWE star and current inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI in STARDOM. STARDOM shares the same corporate owner as NJPW and the two promotions have been having crossover events utilizing STARDOM women on NJPW shows. Varnado has been training recently in the United States and in Mexico.
KAIRI is already set to defend the IWGP Women’s Championship against Tam Nakano on Jan. 4. However, the second night on Jan. 21 has not had a match determined.
Varnado has not wrestled since she and Naomi walked out of WWE prior to an episode of Raw back in May. They have not been listed internally on the WWE roster but have still had their active profiles on WWE.com.
Varnado recently trademarked her real name as well as some other terms .
