In a huge main event match on a Super-sized episode of SmackDown, Sasha Banks took advantage of Bianca Belair being at ringside and pinned the SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in a non-title match. These three women will be battling for the gold this coming Thursday at Crown Jewel in a Triple Threat Match. Banks picking up this win boosts her momentum going into this title match.
This was the first time Lynch and Banks faced one-on-one since their 2019 Hell in a Cell Match for the RAW Women’s Title. Lynch won that match to retain.
As expected, these two women put on one hell of a match in which both pulled out every move in their arsenal. As the match progresses, Lynch delivers several European uppercuts before going for the Manhandle Slam. Banks counters out of it into a backstabber as she locks in the Bank Statement.
Lynch ends up breaking the hold as she makes it to the rope. As the referee’s back was turned, Belair who was on commentary had made her way over to the ring and used her braid to whip the arm of Lynch who had crawled out to the ring apron. Lynch had inadvertently knocked down Belair earlier on the outside. Banks took advantage and delivered another backstabber into a pin to get the victory.
This was the first time Lynch has been pinned in a singles televised match since Money in the Bank 2019 where she lost to Charlotte Flair.
Banks has now defeated both Lynch and Belair in singles matches heading into their Triple Threat Match at Crown Jewel this coming Thursday for the SmackDown Women’s Title.
Belair not only has a chance at winning back the SmackDown Women’s Title in the coming week, but she will also attempt to win the RAW Women’s Title for the first time in her career as she faces Charlotte Flair this Monday on RAW.
