Sasha Banks wants to continue to headline big events as she is currently one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Alongside Naomi, the duo won a Fatal 4-way match at WrestleMania 38 to become the current champs.
Banks knows all about being the main event as she is one of only five women who have been in the main event 0f a WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 37, across the ring from Bianca Belair the two made history for the SmackDown Women’s Title. Now, she wants to make history by bringing the tag titles to Saudi Arabia and main eventing a show in the Kingdom.
While speaking to NBC’s Ten Count, Banks talks about what she would like to do during the rest of 2022.
“I just want to continue to keep on shaking the table,” she told Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston. “I want to keep on making history. For myself, I would love to main event a pay-per-view in Saudi. I would love for the tag team championships to be represented over there and to main event. The main event of any pay-per-view, representing [the tag team titles], is the goal of 2022. Me and Naomi can accomplish that.”
Banks has had one match in Saudi Arabia where she challenged Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat for the SmackDown Women’s Title. This match also included Bianca Belair and took place last October and saw Lynch retain.
Naomi has performed twice in Saudi. First was the first-ever women’s championship match to be held in the Kingdom as she challenged Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Title in 2020. She teamed up with Ronda Rousey this year at Elimination Chamber and took a win against Charlotte Flair & Sonya Deville.
Elsewhere in the interview, Banks comments on Cody Rhodes returning to WWE and that she would love for Ruby Riott to return as well.
“For myself, it’s so cool. I am such a big fan of the Rhodes family. Dusty Rhodes has given me everything, laid the foundation for me. To see the Rhodes back in WWE is so cool. Next, let’s bring back Goldust, let’s bring them all back. Dean Ambrose, you want to come? Let’s go, the more the merrier. Let’s do it. I would love to see Ruby Riott back in the WWE Universe. Absolutely.”
She would go on to name Dakota Kai and Io Shirai as some that she would love to face moving forward. She also says that she and Naomi will take on all teams including NXT’s Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter.
Banks & Naomi are set to defend the tag titles on the upcoming April 18 episode of Raw against Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan. SmackDown will be in Banks’ home state in Worcester, Mass. this Friday, April 15.
