Serena Deeb broke the tie in the long-standing rivalry between herself and Hikaru Shida. The two enemies have been battling on and off since October of last year and now after their fifth match, Deeb came out the victor taking their feud to 3-2.
Deeb focused a lot throughout the match on the previously injured knee of Shida. She also spent time blinding her opponent with both a bag of powder and later a rake to the eyes to try and keep the advantage on her side.
Shida attempted to get back into the match and put Deeb away with a Falcon Arrow from the top turnbuckle but only got a two count. Moments later, Deeb hits Deeb-tox on the steel chair but Shida kicked out. Deeb applied the Serenity Lock on Shida while smashing her knee on the steel chair before locking in a cloverleaf. Shida had no choice but to tap.
Deeb had a lot on the line with this win. She is currently sitting at the top of the power rankings which makes her the number one contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship held by Thunder Rosa. Rosa was seen backstage watching the monitor after Deeb’s win. Could we be looking at perhaps the women’s title match for Double or Nothing?
Also on Dynamite, there was a second interview with some of the qualifiers for the Owen Hart Cup. Dr. Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Toni Storm were being interviewed. Storm brought in Ruby Soho to the conversation who stated that Baker and Hayter have a habit of bullying the newcomers.
