Shayna Baszler has surpassed Asuka as the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion, holding the title for 535-days over two reigns. Asuka’s reign reached an impressive 510-days.
Baszler is the only two-time NXT Women’s Champion in the brand’s history, losing the title to Kairi Sane at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 on Aug. 18 2018. Shayna would recapture the championship seven months later at Evolution. She has since been unbeatable, defeating all who stood her way such as Bianca Belair, Io Sharai, Mia Yim and Candice LaRea.
However, Baszler’s days as NXT Women’s Champion could be numbered as she faces her biggest threat to date, the imposing Rhea Ripley on Dec. 18. The match will be the second time the two have met in the ring. The first match ended in a DQ when Ripley used a steel chair to fend off interference from the Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke.
