Shayna Baszler gets a win in the record books over Sasha Banks on the May 6 episode of SmackDown. Although the win may be listed for Baszler, she did what she had to do to get it.
With Naomi at ringside bandaged up from the week before, Baszler was looking to deliver another stomp to an arm, this time to Banks.
In the final moments of the match, Banks achieved a near fall with a backslide followed by Baszler rolling her into a small package. Baszler with her ring awareness used the bottom ropes as leverage to get the three count. Natalya assisted Baszler by holding her feet down on the ropes.
After the match, Naomi hopped in the ring to try and explain to the referee what took place. All four women in the ring led to Baszler and Natalya knocking down the tag team champs. Baszler went to stomp on the arm of Banks as Natalya was holding back Naomi. Naomi was able to break free and kick Baszler in the face before she could execute the stomp on Banks.
Naomi and Banks took out Natalya to end the segment. The two teams will meet on next week’s SmackDown in a Women’s Tag Team Championship match.
This week’s SmackDown was planned to kick off with a match between Flair and Aliyah. Last week, Flair wasn’t able to beat Ronda Rousey’s time in the Beat the Clock “I Quit” Challenge. Rousey defeated Shotzi in 1:41 but Flair couldn’t defeat Aliyah in that time.
The match between Flair and Aliyah this week was canceled due to a brawl between Flair and Rousey. Several WWE officials had to come out to pull Flair and Rousey apart.
Lastly, on this week’s show, the next vignette for Lacey Evans was aired. It can be viewed below.
This seemingly is the last chapter of her story as she speaks about her father overdosing two months before her WWE tryout. She continues her emotional story and how another family member overdosed right before her first match in NXT.
At the end of the video, Evans says she is going to become SmackDown Women’s Champion. She is then introduced by the ring announcer as she comes out and interacts with the fans making her official first appearance back in front of a live crowd.
