In the lead to this match, Belair had been on a huge role in NXT. Her strength, athleticism, and charisma made her a standout star. However, she had never faced anyone as accomplished and dominant as Baszler. This made the matchup between Belair and Baszler one of the most intriguing clashes to occur in the NXT women’s division at the time.
Baszler would give Belair her first televised NXT loss while retaining the NXT Women’s Championship in the process.
