Sane and Baszler had been feuding since the first Mae Young Classic final 2017 in which Sane would leave victorious. Sane also ended Baszler’s first NXT Women’s Championship run at Takeover: Brooklyn 4. This 2-out-of-3 falls match put an end to their near year-long feud and solidified Baszler’s dominance in the process.
