Shotzi is currently on the SmackDown roster in WWE and her gimmick is drastically different than her persona was in NXT.
Her time on the main roster has been rocky. She was brought up in the summer of last year as a tag team with Tegan Nox. After winning several matches against then-tag team champions Natalya & Tamina, the team would never get a championship bout. Shotzi & Nox were disbanded during the 2021 Draft in October. Nox was moved to Raw and subsequently released.
Over the past year, Shotzi has lost two tag team partners (Ember Moon in NXT, Nox on the main roster), had her surname removed, and her signature tank she used to ride to the ring with removed from her gimmick. Now as a heel, she is trying to find her footing on SmackDown.
In the most recent Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Shotzi talks about her character change.
“That wasn’t my decision, but I’m embracing the change because I’ve been ‘the ballsy badass’ my entire career, even on the Indies, I was always looked at as a babyface. It’s nice after seven years later to finally change up the character and find something new within me. I think I’m finally grabbing the horns and rolling with it,” she said.
She continues, “I’m definitely a little bit of [bitch] and very manipulative. I’m channeling a lot of people that I interacted with that I did not like and kind of picking from them.” (Fightful)
Shotzi was last seen on the June 10 episode of SmackDown where she fought against the SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. She wasn’t able to defeat Rousey in a Championship Contender’s match but will have an opportunity this Friday to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. She faces Aliyah on June 24 with one of them moving on to the match on July 2.
