IMPACT Wrestling has officially announced their next pay-per-view of the year and it will be their annual Slammiversary. It will take place on July 18. Last year’s event saw Tessa Blanchard in the main event against Sami Callihan. Blanchard would lose this match. This led to her long road of the chase for the Impact World Championship when she won it in January. This event dates back to 2005.
This year the event is being advertised based on the future endeavored wrestlers from WWE that took place in April. These people were released from cutting costs due to the current pandemic. It isn’t known at this time if these talents will be permanent with the company or if this is just an appearance for this event.
The releases from WWE were more predominately for the men’s roster over the women. Deonna Purrazzo who was released has already had her vignette shown last week that she was joining the Knockouts division. For Slammiversary, Maria Kanellis along with her husband Mike are shown to be in possible attendance.
Maria was with the company under the TNA name back in 2016 for a little over a year. She started her time with them by feuding quickly with Gail Kim. During this time she would win a ladder match to become the Commissioner for the Knockouts division. This led to a singles match against Kim at Slammiversary, however, this did not take place because she suffered a broken hand.
After her return, she would force Allie to lay down in order to be pinned after she won the Knockouts title the night before. Maria became the Knockouts Champion for the first time in her career.
