The focus of Smackdown Live continues to be on Money in the Bank. Last night we saw two qualifying matches for two of the three remaining spots for the MITB ladder match.
The first match was Lana facing off against Billie Kay. Lana had Aiden English in her corner, because her husband, Rusev, was unable to be there.
English supported his Rusev Day partner’s wife by being her spokesperson and dawning a Lana Day sign. This was enough of a distraction to the IIconics. With Kay distracted, Lana was able to pick up a quick win.

The second match had Naomi face off against Sonya Deville. Deville received a second chance because she did not take the pinfall the week before in her triple threat match. Naomi picked up the win. This will be Naomi’s first time in a MITB match, as she was the SmackDown Women’s champion last year.
Carmella also was on last night show in a backstage segment. She explained how she is not afraid of Asuka:
Thoughts: Well, Lana did it. The match itself lasted all but two seconds, but she got it. If she impresses me in the MITB, I would love to see both her and Rusev win their respective matches. I am a little upset neither Kay nor Royce will be in the match, but there is always next year.
I also wouldn’t have minded if either Mandy or Sonya were included in the match. Naomi winning her match though made me happy because they haven’t done anything with her since WrestleMania. I feel like they are going to keep Asuka away from Carmella until the MITB PPV title match. I don’t want to see Carmella lose the title yet, or more so, I don’t want to see Asuka with another streak just yet.
