The build up towards Wrestlemania continues from the Fastlane pay per view. Asuka made her presence known as she surprised the crowd. All it took was a point to the Wrestlemania sign and Asuka cemented her Royal Rumble win by challenging Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown title at the biggest stage of them all.
Per WWE.com they posted this preview for tonight’s show:
After defeating Ruby Riott to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship on Sunday, Charlotte Flair got a major surprise, as Raw Superstar Asuka arrived to declare that she’d use the WrestleMania championship opportunity she won in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match to challenge The Queen.
With Flair putting her title up against Asuka’s undefeated streak in New Orleans, how will she begin to prepare for the biggest match of her career?
Charlotte will also be in action on this week’s Mixed Match Challenge where she’ll team up with Bobby Roode to take on the husband and wife team of Lana and Rusev:
The cutthroat second round of WWE Mixed Match Challenge continues tonight on Facebook Watch at 10 ET/7 PT, as the husband/wife duo of Rusev & Lana battles the glorious combination of Charlotte Flair & Bobby Roode.
Rusev & Lana enter the second round of WWE MMC after overcoming Elias & Bayley in Week 5, and their in-ring partnership shows no sign of slowing down. The Bulgarian Brute is a two-time United States Champion who demands respect in both singles and tag team competition. While The Ravishing Russian doesn’t have as much in-ring experience, the Total Divas star has dedicated herself to her husband’s rigorous and unorthodox training regimen wholeheartedly. This paid off in her last WWE MMC showdown, where she surprised many people with her aggressive nature and claimed the pinfall on former Raw Women’s Champion Bayley. Clearly, Lana has signaled that she is ready for any top-notch competition that comes her way.
Enter “The Robe Warriors.” Charlotte Flair & Bobby Roode journey into the second round with flair after reigning supreme over Titus Worldwide’s Apollo and his partner Nia Jax in Week 6. Since emerging in WWE, The Queen has surpassed every expectation, proving her genetic superiority as the daughter of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair by competing in groundbreaking matches and laying claim to four Raw Women’s Championships, a Divas Championship and, now, the SmackDown Women’s Title.
Roode lost his first United States Championship to Randy Orton Sunday at WWE Fastlane and is now determined to move back into the winner’s circle faster than you can say Mixed Match Challenge. This shouldn’t be a problem for The Glorious One, who possesses the dynamic personality, obvious skill and confidence to get the job done. Though Roode has yet to perfect his “Woo,” there is a clear reason he and Charlotte were the first combination selected by SmackDown General Manager Danial Bryan to represent Team Blue. This is SmackDown LIVE’s team to beat.
