Hola, Diva fans and welcome to this week’s SmackDown Redux! This week on the blue brand, we have a Total Divas extravaganza, Brie and Nikki Bella clash with the unlikely duo of Natalya and Summer Rae. Can the rookie and the veteran pull off the win, or will Twin Magic reign supreme? Check out the match below:
We kick off the match with both teams already in the ring, with AJ Lee (along with Tamina) on commentary. Nattie and Nikki start for their respective teams with an impressive show of chain wrestling, resulting in several near falls. Nikki gets the upper hand on Nattie and Summer takes the opportunity to tag herself into the match… and runs right into a STO from Nikki.
Nikki rolls to the apron and Summer nails her with a running knee and focuses on her previously injured shin. After attempting a pin, Summer goes for a submission, but Nikki rolls away and tags in Brie.
Brie comes in like a wrecking ball, taking out Summer with a flurry of offense, but gets drilled with a nasty roundhouse kick from Summer Rae as she goes for her signature missile dropkick. Summer tags in Natalya and the two get into a shoving match, leading to both of them eating a dropkick from Brie. With both opponents reeling, Brie hits the Bella Buster on Natalya, picking up the win for her team.
I’m all for getting some footage for Total Divas, really I am, but can we get some clarification on this Divas Championship situation? I mean, the old #1 contender is back, everyone and their 2nd cousin has beat the champion in a tag match as of late, yet we still don’t have a Divas WrestleMania match yet. Really?
That said, I really did like this match, even though it was super short, but it just felt like like filler that should have been saved for Superstars or Main Event.
We were also treated to an adorably awkward backstage segment featuring Emma and Santino:
